As a political junkie I am embarrass at the candidates selected by the people or more properly analyzed as being shoved down the throat by a political hacks. As for Obama and the insult to his own mother by calling himself Afro American when in reality he is Euro Afro American. And as for the Bush parrot McCain who will lead us down the path to the worst times this country will ever know that would make us susceptible to military invasion or worse. I expect McCain to win nonetheless . God bless America

      Caulbearer

Where is Afro located again? On questionaires asking to describe yourself I never saw Euro Afro American listed. When you looked at Barack I'm sure you though that he looked very Euro Afro American. Nice try anyway.

ONCE the McCain campaign said Barack Obama was a terrorist sympathizer, we should've have known "socialist" was next.

Ever since Obama told "Joe the Plumber" that we should "spread the wealth," John McCain and Sarah Palin have taken to blasting Obama's tax plan as a socialist plot.

Socialism involves collective ownership of the means of economic production and similar institutional "sharing of the wealth." Nothing Obama has proposed comes close to that. (Instead, the Bush administration is virtually nationalizing the banks.)

What McCain calls socialism is actually just old-fashioned progressive taxation - taxing the wealthy at higher rates than the poor. It underlies most of US tax policy - so mainstream that one of its biggest defenders has been . . . John McCain.

Debating in Michigan during the 2000 primaries, McCain warned: "There's a growing gap between the haves and have-nots in America, and that gap is growing, and it's unfortunately divided up along ethnic lines."

That same year, McCain said on "Meet the Press": "Many studies have indicated that . . . the people who need . . . the relief most are working middle-income Americans and that's what I want to give to them." In an ad, he promised: "There's one big difference between me and the others - I won't take every last dime of the surplus and spend it on tax cuts that mostly benefit the wealthy." Socialist!

In fact, McCain is such a socialist that he voted against the 2001 Bush tax cuts, complaining that they unfairly favored the rich "at the expense of middle-class Americans who most need tax relief."

    Cont.
The McCain campaign has also bizarrely begun calling Obama's tax credits "welfare." For example, Obama's refundable tax credit for mortgage payments originally went to everyone, even if they didn't work. Responding to the "welfare" charge, Obama has added a work requirement - so now retirees won't benefit from the tax credit. Thanks, Sen. McCain.

It also looks like McCain is pushing a little "welfare" of his own: The centerpiece of his health care plan is a $5,000 tax credit to families. This goes to people regardless of their employment status. Socialist!

Sure, the credit just replaces today's break for employer-provided insurance - but it does potentially go to people who don't pay income tax. Why isn't that socialism?

Conservatives are also calling Obama's health-care plan "socialized medicine." Yet Henry Aaron, a top health-policy expert at nonpartisan Brookings Institution, laughed at this characterization.

He calls Obama's plan "exceedingly moderate," noting that it builds incrementally on existing insurance programs. It won't tell private insurers what benefits they must cover beyond a basic package.

In fact, liberal New York Times columnist Paul Krugman attacked Obama's plan as overly modest (compared to Hillary Clinton's) several times during the primaries.

Unlike places like Britian, which does have socialized medicine, Obama wouldn't put doctors to work for the government. If you like your current policy, you could keep it.

If Obama's plan is "socialist" because it means a bit more government involvement in health care, than America already has socialized medicine for the elderly (Medicare) and the poor (Medicaid).

Maybe all this is why the "socialist" attack doesn't seem to be working. In the most recent Wall Street Journal/NBC poll, Obama led on "better on taxes" 48-34. A month earlier, McCain was ahead 41-37.

Could the taunt of "communist" be far behind?

Which ever way you cut it, you guys are a bunch of racist huonkies and the next President is gonna be a black man!!! Damn that't gotta piss you off!! HEEEEEEEE-HAW....see next week!!!

      • Posted By: SCsmilesAlot @ 10/30/2008 12:49:46 AM

The sad truth is that most if not all black voters are going to vote for Obama just for the color of his skin. I believe that to be just as racist. I am not scared of Obama because of the color of his skin, I am however scared of his political views.

        • Posted By: IndependentVoter08 @ 10/30/2008 12:10:34 PM

That's a pretty bold statement to make. Do you have any proof of "most if not all blacks will vote for Obama because he is black"? I'm sure it's because they are just too stupid to actually form independent thoughts and opinions, correct?

Rescue8, I couldn't agree with you more. As far as libswillsellusout, you argue against your own point. You speak of pointless claims, but you make several of the same types of claims against Obama's multiple associations. As rescue8 said, both men are intelligent. There is a (roughly) eqaul chance of either candidate getting elected. Let's stop making these pointless claims and focus on what each candidate will do to help us. There is no "perfect" candidate. Vote for your beliefs, not against your fear.

    • Posted By: libswillsellusout @ 10/30/2008 2:36:44 AM

The FACTS do not make for pointless claims. I have stated some of Obamas stances that don't look so good. I have pointed out that many of his associates are of dubious, if not detrimentally negative character. Obama seems to be surrounded by radicals. ANti-american types. Is this what America wants to elect as their next president. You don't get any of that negative baggage with McCain- he fought for our country ad suffered for the right to be president. What has Obama done to earn this? He's mocking the very institution by associating with these radicals. Why should anyone give him a chance?

Just 3 months ago our fine President, that I unfortunately voted for was telling us that the economy was fundamentally sound, then three weeks ago he was begging congress to bail out his buddies on Wall Street. You just don't get it pal.

All of Obama's associates are radicals, anarchists, anti-americans, and middle easterners. Did we forget 9/11? How is this getting past Americans? Obama wants to disarm America, both militarily and personally by reducing nukes and missle defense systems (video on internet of him saying it), and by greatly reducing the taxes on guns and ammo, and making it a crime to kill home invaders in self defense (look at voting record). Why would an American President want to do this? Put 2 and 2 together people! Obama is the company he keeps. The radical Muslims and terrorists have an ally (he wants to unconditionally meet with them - see debates) in Barack HUSSEIN Osama. Why would you take a HUGE gamble voting for this shady character (hides his real birth certificate from the press, has order the L.A. Times not to release video and or audio of a dinner meeting he has 6 MONTHS AGO (recently) with Bill Ayers and Pakistani Khalledi where they spoke of Isreal being the problem rather than the victim! Folks, if you know anything about the end times prophecies of the Bible, when Isreal goes, we all go. Are Americans blind?! WAKE UP and vote for a real AMERICAN HERO in John McCain (American Prisoner of War, who fought for our country, why would he ever hurt it?). If your excuse is that you are afraid Palin will inherit the White House and she has no experience, what do you think Obama has? Palin has more executive (the kind you need to run a government) experience than any of the other 3 running, and she has ALREADY done an incredible job of fighting the status quo and the "good ol' boy network" (an actual record, can you say EXPERIENCE!). Obama has mere months in the Senate, and has done NOTHING of any merit as a senator. Obama is a good orator, and it ends there. Christian African Americans voting for Obama should be ashamed of themselves. You are dropping morals in favor of skin color. Obama is the most liberal on abortion, supporting partial birth abortions, and no medical treatment of live birth botched abortions (he would rather they suffer and die with no medical treatment- check his stances if you dont believe me, there is proof all over the internet, in his own words). He dismisses the live, mutilated babies as "pre-viable fetuses" and as "temporarily alive" (his own terms) SHAME SHAME SHAME! What has happened to America? WAKE UP before it's too late!!!!!!!

    • Posted By: IndependentVoter08 @ 10/30/2008 11:43:17 AM

Since clearly you are a genius, I'm sure you will find a very intelligent way to attack what I am about to say. Please do some actual research instead of regurgitating all of the BS that is floating around.

FACT: Bill Ayers and the Weatherman were linked in the 60s when Obama was a child. He is also not middle-eastern and he is a profssor of distinction in the College of Education at UIC. Just a question, did you know who Bill Ayers was before this campaign?

FACT: The banquet that you speak of - that you claim took place 6 months ago - actually occured in 2003. The report for the L.A. Times who releasd a transcript from this tape (6 months ago), made a promise to the source that they would never reveal the tape. So......perhaps you find something wrong with integrity? Or keeping a promise? Also, please note the hipocrisy: John McCain served as chairman of the International Republican Institute (IRI) during the 1990s which provided grants worth $500,000 to a Palestinian research organization that was co-founded by who? Oh my gosh - Rashid Khalidi.
      http://big.assets.huffingtonpost.com/IRIForm9901998.pdf

FACT: There are not 40 million abortions each year in this country. According to my "source" PBS, the last figures that were taken estimated 1.26 million and that was in 2002. Quite a jump don't you think?
      http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/clinic/wars/faqs.html

Please do us a favor and tell us exactly which anarchist, marxists, socialist, terrorist, and "arabs" (racist, much?) that Obama will use to bring this country down? Oh and please cite your sources. Information is all over the internet right?

I think McCain's service to our country is unquestioned, but last time I checked, its not a requirement o be President, nor a guarantee that he will be a good one.

    • Posted By: ejackson 24 @ 10/08/2008 2:19:46 PM

Why do people miss Ronald Reagan so much? Yes he told you it was fine to be a self-centered capitalist and that are better days are ahead of us. How did that work out? Contrary to popular belief he did not shrink government, he expanded it. See governement spending statistics. He did start the war on drugs. How did that work out? Finally drugs are no longer a problem in this country. At least we havn't wasted billions following this strategy.

      • Posted By: woodchip @ 10/30/2008 11:42:17 AM

I agree with almost everything you say, ejackson, but strongly disagree with the statement that drugs are no longer a problem. Drugs are very much so a problem and will continue to be so for quite a long time.

The only logical reason i can see for why the press and millions of Americans ignoring or twisting all these reports about Obamas assosiations and caricter is that they started with a diccision and are trying to make the facts fit that dicission. They dicided that Obama was "The Savior" and now all these reports are coming out and there dicission is threatened by there lojic,so they have to twist or ignore the facts to make them fit.Logic tells us to do the exact opposite.Look at the facts first. The man is freinds with countless terorists.Hes freinds with a man who is a oppen anti-semite and thinks Israel, our only true ally in the worldshould be destroyed.Obama gave money, support, and as we found out today,a list of supporters to ACORN,a group he knew was doing many illegal things, yet he still supported them(at least until they got caught and his political carrear was in jeaprady by being assosiated with them). What does this all say about the mans carricter?Look at the facts first,as you do in any logical decision, and then ask yourself,Do you really want Barak Obama to be your president?

I must give it to Obama. He can too the American people with a straight face that he will not increase taxes to anyone making under $250,000. Well America, he also said he will not extend the Bush tax cuts. If they are not extended, they go away. If they go away, everyone will have to pay more taxes. So while he is telling the truth--his truth will cost every American more in taxes. He does't have to increase taxes. He will just let them increase all by themselves.

    • Posted By: hloveless @ 10/29/2008 3:02:54 PM

Um, I'm sorry - but the Bush tax cuts did not include the middle class....

      • Posted By: marshallr0ss @ 10/29/2008 3:36:49 PM

If you are middle class, and you know anything about finances or filing taxes, or your tax preparer knows his job, you aren't paying hardly anything in taxes anyway. If you are, get a new tax preparer. If you make less than $250,000, your rate should be 15 to 20 % before deductions and tax credits. After your tax credits, you are should only paying about 4 to 5% of you total income, probably not even that much. On the flip side of that, if you make over $250,000, your rate is 35%. After tax credits, you will still pay between 25 and 30 %. If you make less than enough to be classified as middle class, the taxes you pay, if any, are more than made up by the government assistance that you receive ie: welfare, medicaid, food stamps, WIC, etc.
So I ask you, is it fair for me to make $100,000 and only pay $5000 in taxes (5%), while you make $300.000 and pay $75,000 in taxes? Or even going by the IRS tax table percentages, on $100,000 I would only pay $15,000, while you paid $100,000 on your $300,000 of income.
Tax breaks for the poor are worthless because they normally don't pay taxes. Tax breaks for the middle class are great for those of us in the middle class, but they do not have the positive economic effect of tax breaks for businesses (or the rich as they are more commonly called).
Remember, according to the IRS, 95% of the revenue collected by the IRS in 2008 came from the top 5% of income earners. The other 5% was paid by the other 95% of tax payers.
That's like 100 people getting together for lunch. After the meal, the waitress brings the bill which totals $1000. If we go by the way the tax system is in the U.S. today, 15 people would sneak out without paying. 80 people would pool their money and come up with $50. The other 5 people would be stuck with paying the balance of $950.00.

        • Posted By: hloveless @ 10/30/2008 9:05:48 AM

Your statement "Remember, according to the IRS, 95% of the revenue collected by the IRS in 2008 came from the top 5% of income earners. The other 5% was paid by the other 95% of tax payers." is a good fact, but it needs to include the fact that the top one percent of the taxpayers are now estimated to own between forty and fifty percent of the nation's wealth, more than the combined wealth of the bottom 95%. In March 2006 Forbes reported 793 billionaires in the US with combined net worth of $2.6 trillion. In March 2007 Forbes reported 946 billionaires in the US with combined net worth of $3.5 trillion. That is a 1-year increase of 19% in the number of billionaires and an increase of $35% in their net worth during a time of increasing poverty. Severe poverty is at its highest point in three decades. I believe, and I believe that Obama believes, that everybody does better when everybody does better. Currently 95% of the wealth in this country is shared among 5% of the population. Much ot that wealth is not "taxable" today. Our country really only has 2 classes. That 5% and the rest of us. True, the rest of us could bust our humps to reach that upper 5% - if the system was not built to keep us from reaching those heights. The tools we need to get better include lower medicial costs, lower taxes, lower education costs. Sounds like the Obama platform to me.

    • Posted By: freckles429 @ 10/29/2008 3:17:29 PM

I'm sorry -- but you do not pay attention. Obama's tax proposal does not take effect until the Bush ones expire in 2010. SO, in 2010 -- those making over 250K will revert back to the tax rate of Clinton for everyone else.... Obama's new initiative begins.

ok guys and gals, we all know the truth and some of us are afraid to admit it. women rule-- plain and simple.. they rule your check book, the decorations in the house, they usually decide where the kids go to school/daycare and even if we are going to have babies-- and the men just 'go along'... is this not true in your own home.. Women are so liberated (whatever) that men dare not to tell them no. -- I for one love staying home and baking cookies (I think real women bake 'homemade' cookies) -- i love taking my kids to school and helping with homework (that's my job) I have a job outside the home- doesn't pay much- but I don't get much out of it either. If Sarah Palin -the hockey mom feels like she is up for the job-- get off her @ $ $.. her husband seems to be supportive.... as for me... i hope she doesn't f it up like Boxer and Feinstein did for California- now they are some scary left wing extremists....go Sarah go... just please stay grounded....

and if you wanna bring the kids over for a play date, just call

      • Posted By: hloveless @ 10/30/2008 8:13:24 AM

        "just stay grounded"???

"As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where??? where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border." --Sarah Palin, explaining why Alaska's proximity to Russia gives her foreign policy experience, interview with CBS's Katie Couric, Sept. 24, 2008

"They are also building schools for the Afghan children so that there is hope and opportunity in our neighboring country of Afghanistan." --Sarah Palin, speaking at a fundraiser in San Francisco, Oct. 5, 2008

"I'm the mayor, I can do whatever I want until the courts tell me I can't.'" --Sarah Palin, as quoted by former City Council Member Nick Carney, after he raised objections about the $50,000 she spent renovating the mayor's office without approval of the city council

"As for that VP talk all the time, I'll tell you, I still can't answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does every day?" --Sarah Palin, interview with CNBC's "Kudlow & Co," July 31, 2008

"A changing environment will affect Alaska more than any other state, because of our location. I'm not one, though, who would attribute it to being man-made." --August 29, 2008, Newsmax

Are we all forgetting WHY our gov't was developed?? FOR PROTECTION/SECURITY !! That is our gov't's FIRST AND FOREMOST job. health care, education, etc those are all perks to living in a safe country.. we can work on the perks (even though they are necessary) once we are secure... if we are not safe and secure, as a country, you are not going to be worrying if you are wearing cute jeans, made the football team or even have chronic headaches. Your going to be more focused on 'what member of my family died today'...wake up America...

McCain & Bush have a 90% shared platform.

      • Posted By: k'sdad77 @ 10/29/2008 4:55:57 PM

Just so you know, all the men and women serving in Iraq knew that this might happen. They ALL signed up for this, just as I did. Each one is very proud to serve his/her country. Don't get me wrong, this war is taking its toll on our country and each of the servicemembers lives, but just how safe will our country be in the hands of someone we know nothing about, other than the fact that he has ties to known terrorists? Too many people are voting for their wallets and pocketbooks, and that is just sad.

        • Posted By: eagleye1 @ 10/30/2008 7:42:08 AM

Yes, we know that we could die serving our country but we try our damnedest not to. We also want to know that the very people we represent will fight for us. When we take the oath, we no longer have a voice, and it is rational people who make rational evaluations and sound off when they find us in harm's way for political reasons only. You are entitled to your opinion, so let those who disagree have theirs.

        • Posted By: ItsMeDee @ 10/29/2008 5:45:18 PM

Well, if what you say is true, why haven't we put the resources into actually finding the terrorists who did breach our security? Why are troops being sent to a country that didn't come on our soil and kill OUR family? Maybe McCain will find him in Iran next, huh?

except this war was a mistake - no wmd's. I have always thought this war was about Sadam tried to have my daddy killed. I think I am right.

A poster here with the handle, ":libswillsellusout," has posted the same comment over and over again while responding to those that disagree with him by challenging them to refute his assertions along with evidence that their refutations are backed by authoritative sources. Interestingly enough, this party provides absolutely no authoritative sources for his assertions. If you believe that what you have posted here is conventional wisdom so widely accepted as to need no documentary sources, I think you are probably quite wrong. Therefore, assuming for the sake of argument that John McCain wins the presidential election with fifty five percent of the vote, either the forty five percent who voted for Obama must either be idiots or in the alternative traitors to their country or both. I doubt there is much truth in that premise. God bless America and save us from intolerance.

So many R's on this blog accuse the D's of being uneducated. Interesting, since the most recent boost in McCain supporters is coming from white men with only some college education. Wonder which way the college graduates are leaning?

Can a McCain and Palin supporter explain to me why Sarah and Todd Palin associate with a radical Alaskan secessionist group? Better yet, why aren't FOX and CNN reporting about?

    • Posted By: BSIG @ 10/29/2008 4:29:55 PM

If Obama wins I wouldn't rule out finding a seccessionist group myself, and I don't know what you are thinking if you see CNN as a unbias network. They are as far in the tank for Obama as the rest of the networks, besides Foxnews.

If you will do it, I'll pay your dues and contribute to your efforts... all of you pinheads deserve each other... maybe we can give you folks a toxic waste site to live on... maybe then you will mutate to something civil.

How could anybody other than a left wing nutjob vote for a man who kicked off his political career in a domestic terrorists living room, and attended an anti-american church with racial views to boot. He also toasted the leader of the PLO which the LA times wont even show the tape until after the election? Be careful what you ask for you tree hugging hippies, you just might get it!

Sounds like you should apply for a name change

The HATERS are out in full bloom tonight, look like all the anti-Obama supporters got the memo to turn out on this blog. Its bad enouth the economy is in a recession, you would think the discussion would be more about the issues, instead of more hate and fear mongering. Give me a break, sheeesh

    • Posted By: libswillsellusout @ 10/29/2008 11:29:23 PM

It is about the issues, read and try and prove me wrong. Cite your sources.

      • Posted By: jpepper @ 10/30/2008 5:28:46 AM

What do you mean it's about the issues, 9 out of 10 comments is people whining, crying and making more smears about Obama, I'm not seeing issues discussed here.

      • Posted By: BSIG @ 10/30/2008 12:05:29 AM

I see none of the libs take you up on this. HAHA

It is really a misconception that all black people are voting for Obama solely on the basis of his color. There are several black people who have supported Clintons, John Kerry, and even Al Gore, which are clearly not of the ethnic persuasion. Why can it be just the fact that black people are connecting with the message being stated as opposed the color of the skin. It would be so much easier if we were all one color, but then again most white americans have to have someone to hate or dislike, if we were all one color, I'm sure it would be the fair haired against the dark haired or blue eyes,vs brown eyes, just food for thought..

    • Posted By: dangstraight @ 10/29/2008 8:20:40 PM

Nice going pepper. How long did it take you to verbalize this convoluted logic. I suppose you are trying to say blacks don't vote as a block...don't try to push that .. we know better.

      • Posted By: jpepper @ 10/30/2008 5:10:59 AM

Notice it was food for thought, it got your attention!

People should be afraid of the McCain/Palin ticket due to the undisclosed info of McCain's health and what about Palin? We have not ever heard of her until McCain put her on the ticket. She has her dirty laundry of her own. Let us not forget that she does have a newborn child. Heaven forbid that something happens to McCain and she takes over. Picture this, if she took over and the world had a crisis and heaven forbid, somethin happend to her child, who will she choose? As a parent, my family comes first. Wake up people! For years, these guys have been running and made lots of promises no matter who was in charge and look where we at now. Some of you may as well confess that you have a problem with an african-american running. Stop attacking like McCain/Pain and get with the important matters. What is going to happen if Obama is YOUR president? Grow up and VOTE !

    • Posted By: BSIG @ 10/29/2008 7:23:52 PM

Last I heard, Obama has two children of his own, what decision do you think he would make, and if elected he would be president and not vice president. Anything said about Obama is immediately called racist, but all kinds of dirty things are being said about Sarah Palin and this isn't sexist at all?

      • Posted By: jpepper @ 10/30/2008 5:09:16 AM

It's obvious you don't understand what a VP does and it was a what if situation.
