At least Sarah Palin is in the public eye, where has Joe Biden been? I remember him at the debate with Palin. And he looked at her like he thought she was hot. Somebody said something about Barack being so well received in otehr countries. I have a friend who is Muslim and she told me that other practicing Muslims do not like Barack. And also, I think it is a myth that other countries dislike us. The media tells us they dislike us, but I travel to other countries on a regular basis and am greeted with respect because I am an American. I was very surprised in Vietnam. There people treat you a some sort of hero just because you are American. So don't think for a minute, Barack is going to make anybody "like us better". Also, I too believe Barack will be our next president (I beleive that is because the media has convinced many people to vote for him). Our economy will improve, once we get a new president. This will happen no matter which person is elected. I just wanted to tell everybody this-so you won't be saying "oh Obama made everythign better".

Martin Luther King, Jr. had a dream that people 'not be judged by the color of their skin, but the content of their character." Well, his dream has failed. Every black person (and I have a lot of black friends) are voting for BO, BECAUSE HE IS 'BLACK' and it is time for change!? I ask them what kind of change are they looking for? You want the change out of my purse for yours? 'Cause I guarantee, right now, you'll be giving me money, (yes, I am that broke and still not taking hand-outs) and about this black thing, GET OVER YOURSELF. America really doesn't care what color your skin is, and neither do I. If you vote for BO because he is 'black' then you have failed MLKJ. and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Vote on moral principal. Vote for Protection from evil. Who can deliver and who can quiver... You all know the answer down deep in your heart. If the big bad wolf came knocking on your door, who do you want as your backup ... yes, your right,, Vote McCain/Palin.. because, common sense ain't so common anymore..tell a friend.

woops, my comment was on MY personal black friends.. not the whole black population.... I know there are plenty of blacks not voting for BO--only because they have done their homework.... like we all should.

as far as corruption in politics--hello out there--we all know that happens- unless you just turned 18 and this is your first time voting, most politicians are in it for more than just themselves. However, McCain STILL cares about his country!

Just as you are not the same person in your photographs, leading your team to victory in high school, McCain is not the same person he was in 2000. Maybe the election of 2000 made him bitter, but he hired the same people that SMEARED him so he can win THIS election. He sold his moral fiber to Rove, Sproul, and Jacoby.

      • Posted By: jhpoole @ 10/29/2008 3:38:57 PM

John McCain will get us into more mess with his hothead! Look at his past and how his bad decisions and maverick ways cost him a marriage, the United States 2 planes, and his parents a waste of money for an education!

  • Posted By: dman9600 @ 10/29/2008 2:25:01 PM

The truth is: the democrats that blocked banking reform everytime it was brought up the last 6 plus years are the one responsible for the mess we are in.. News Flash, if you vote Obama our next president it is only going to get worse... All the democrats that spoke, argued, and voted against the banking reform that would have provented this mess should all be removed from office not voted out, but just plan removed... they we're taking money and/or making sure their friends were getting rich from all the bad loans knowing that it was going to cause the housing industry and our economy to crash... how do I know this??? I was a mortgage broker for 10 years and saw first hand what the democrats were doing....

    • Posted By: Adwa @ 10/29/2008 2:32:12 PM

It is so easy to use a sound bite and talk about Dems blocking banking reform, but have you looked at the SPECIFICS of the so-called reform that they opposed? It would essentially have continued to put home ownership out-of-reach for many, many middle class families. While there is no doubt that Fannie and Freddie made a mess of things, the spirit behind their mission is still a good one and that is to make it easier for families to own their own home. What is needed is a re-vamp of the methods that will still make home ownership a possibility for those who are working and who can afford reasonable mortgages on reasonable homes.

      • Posted By: krar4 @ 10/29/2008 2:51:40 PM

Adwa - You missed an obvious point... The people who are going bankrupt and losing their homes mortgaged more than they could afford to pay due to the reforms of the democrats. You can't just wave a magic wand and tell someone they can now "afford" a larger mortgage payment because the banks were forced to lower their lending standards... You're correct in that it put more people into home ownership, but it did it by allowing people to borrow more than they could afford. Talk about a recipe for disaster... And now we have it. You can't legislate that somebody that can afford a $500 monthly payment can now afford an $800 payment, but that is the reality of it. They were able to borrow a much higher loan-to-value amount than previously (up to 100% of the value!!!), and they were held to lower restrictions on how much they could afford to buy. Everybody wants to blame Wall Street/Freddie/Fannie, but in reality, if somebody borrowed more than they could afford, then it starts with being their fault. Kind of like the people that get into ARM loans but don't assume the rate will go up the maximum amount possible when it adjusts. I agree that promoting home ownership is a good thing, but not to the point that you could predict such loss of those homes.

Many fast paced growing areas actually had 125% LTV....with NINJA loans (No Income-No Job applications) which means ANYONE could get ANY loan--even if they couldn't afford the adjusment in 2 years.... so sad in my neck of the woods, but if you lie-- well, you should suffer the consequences..

How can he be better qualified to fix the economy when he never even had to balance a budget. Even Govenor Palin has had to manage the State of Alaska. Obama been a senator for 2 years and refuses to release any, documents concerning his education, health, selective service, certified birth certificate, etc. for review. Whats he hiding?? Spreading the wealth will not fix the economy!!! His plans will require TAX INCREASES. Does anyone remember in the Summer during his debates with Clinton, when asked about the Bush tax cuts...he said that if he is president that he wiould not renew the tax cuts...sooooo there you have it....... A TAX INCREASE!!!! A man passes a homeless guy as he enter a restaurant to dine....the waiter in the restaurant does an excellent job ..as the man goes to leave he thinks about implementing Obama's spreading the wealth plan...so...he decides to give the tip for the waiter to the homeless guy outside. The waiter complains furiously that he worked hard for his money and did a good job. The diner agrees that his service was excellent, but the guy outside deserves the money too!! (spreading the wealth)

Early on I listened with interest to Obama, seemed educated, good orator, but there are to many questions unanswered to let him take control of our country and moreover decisions concerning the defense of our nation!!

I'm voting for Obama because I've grown to like him. I always respected him, but as time passes I no longer feel he is arrogant - he's a real human. And his wife, Michelle, showed her humaity and ability to connect to all people when she delivered her speech at the Democratic convention.

When it comes to qualifications, Obama has travelled around parts of the world and was well-received wherever he went. He can gain back the respect of the world that this country has lost during the last eight years. And his running mate, Joe Biden, is NO rookie. And Obama has other leaders who will step in and have stepped in to assist him and teach him. He is a brilliant man and a quick learner - and he can connect his knowledge to help create programs to help those who need hep without increasing our astronomical deficit.

John McCain and Sarah Palin? I don't think so. McCain would have been a better, stronger and more effective candidate & President in 2000 than the gentleman that the Republicans gave us. John McCain has a strong background; but he was a stronger candidate in 2000. Having chosen Ms. Palin as a running mate of our countrydoes not demonstrate strength; it demonstrates desperation and poor judgement. Times are too bad now to trust our country to that pair.

I feel much more comfortable with Obama and Biden.

for a man who promised to limit spending by taking matching funds, to run a new kind of campaign, to bring on change, Senator Obama chose not to limit spending which has become obscene, to run as negative a campaign as John McCain with as many distortions (look at FACTCHECK.COM) and to come up with ideas on taxes and healthcare that sound more like old style liberalism and to refuse to admit that the small businesses that employ the most people will be hurt by his tax plan. Goodluck Obama Voters, you have to still have a job and earn money to get that big middleclasss tax cut!

  • Posted By: dman9600 @ 10/29/2008 3:35:49 PM

mikeyerby: You got it!!!!!!!! he has done nothing productive in his adult life.. well, he did write two books about himself.... any your right look at constituency... the highest tax rate in the country , the worst school system,,, yea lets see if he can do the same for the rest of the country... hell I can wait to say I told you so to all those sheep following him blindly down this path to ruin.

Mr. Obama has met challenge after challenge, growing as a leader and putting real flesh on his early promises of hope and change. He has shown a cool head and sound judgment. We believe he has the will and the ability to forge the broad political consensus that is essential to finding solutions to this nation???s problems.

In the same time, Senator John McCain of Arizona has retreated farther and farther to the fringe of American politics, running a campaign on partisan division, class warfare and even hints of racism. His policies and worldview are mired in the past. His choice of a running mate so evidently unfit for the office was a final act of opportunism and bad judgment that eclipsed the accomplishments of 26 years in Congress.

Obama believes we should give tax breaks to 95% of the US citizens. The other candidate calls the plan socialism because it does not help the 5% that make more than a quarter million dollars a year. What side of that fence do YOU sit on?

Believes that lobbyists & special interests have strangle-hold on agenda.

Believes there should be more disclosure around earmarks.

Believes there should be a "Google for Government" to track government spending.

Believes that everybody deserves healthcare like members of Congress have.

Believes that we should make the minimum wage a living wage.

Believes that cutting benefits & raising retirement age are wrong answers for Social Security.

Believes that there should be no tax increase if earning under $250K; tax cuts for those under $75K.

Believes that we should never negotiate out of fear, and never fear to negotiate.

Believes that the President must abide by international human rights treaties.

Believes that we should strengthen NATO to face 21st-century threats.

Believes that there should be strong labor, safety, and environmental standards on trade.

Believes that we should enforce environmental & labor provisions in trade agreements.

Believes that we should eliminate government programs that no longer work.

Believes we hold corporations responsible for pensions & work conditions.

Believes we should close tax loopholes for US companies relocating abroad.

Believes we should prevent money laundering by disclosing corporate owners.

Believes that the death penalty should be enforced fairly and with caution.

Believe we should not lower the drinking age from 21 to 18.

Believes we should invest in early childhood education and higher education.

Believes that teacher merit is pay ok if based on career instead of a single test.

Believes that we need a sense of urgency about improving education system.

How unfortunate our voting system is. Obama has spent more then Bush and Kerry combined to spread his message, and in these last few days he will spend over 600 million to express his message further. It is no wonder that he reneged on his promise to not accept private funds, especially when Mr. Soros is bankrolling him. Supporters of Obama may have a 'purchased' victory on thier hands....and (never being a sore loser) I say 'congratulations'. But...the bill to be paid will be coming, and many of you who are on Mr. Obama's bandwagon now may very well live to regret it later. Just return the favor and don't whine that "It's all the Republicans fault" when it does come due.

I have asked several people what policies of his they like and they can't tell me any of them.. no real suprise neither can he....!!!

  • Posted By: american1111 @ 10/29/2008 3:19:53 PM

I want to speak about the people who say that people are voting for Barack bacause he is black. I have a friend who is black and he doesn't like Barack, he says "he's shady, and he will do something shady in office but I am voting for him because I think a black man should be in office". I'm sure there are plenty of other people white and black with that thought. I for one, feel we need to vote for a president who has experience and has proven they are proud to be an American. There are two many issues with Barack. He attends a very racist church with a racist minister, he was listed as Muslim at his school in Asia. He has ties to terrorists. He doesn't have any experience. His wife said she was finally proud to be an American. He did not put his hand over his heart for the national anthem-saw this one myself. He may be a good speaker. But people need to remember he was a community organizer, that's what they do. Speak to people on their level and get everybody thinking in the same direction. So great-he's done his job as a community organizer but not as president. People should not be fooled into believing that just because he says something, it is a fact. And just because he says he is going to do something, it may not get done. I beleive we should vote for someone with a proven background.

    • Posted By: fidelis6347 @ 10/29/2008 3:31:58 PM

Obama is not going to lower taxes for anyone.. he is going to raise taxes on anyone making 250k plus( really anyone making any money)... becauase he is not going to lower taxes for everyone else.... instead he is going to let the Bush tax break expire thus raising taxes for all of us.... great idea during a bad economy.. wonder if he is trying to ruin the country or if he's just stupid??

Do your research and learn the REAL history of America you might see there is alot to be embarrassed about. I fought for this country 3 times...so dont you dare say I can criticize it how else are we going to get better. At least him or his family was never part of party that wanted to break away from America like Palin and her clan...please you people who are scared of a man like him are the real reason why we cant get better as ONE NATION..

Why then has Obama not done anything productive since becoming a senator? look at what his current constituency is paying in taxes, and what shape they are in. Ask yourself if this looks like a "take charge kinda guy"

    • Posted By: jhpoole @ 10/29/2008 3:27:17 PM

He went from Senator to Presidential Candidate in 4 years- That's productive . He has organized the most well oiled political grassroots machine ever put together - that's productive. He has put together a grassroots money generator the likes of which have not been seen in political history- that's productive. He fills stadiums (no seat fillers)- that's productive. He'll be President- That's damn productive!

  • Posted By: max in fl @ 10/29/2008 3:26:52 PM

I feel McCain's attitude toward Osama bin Laden has been the same as Bush's as far as I could tell. Since McCain doesn't talk about bin Laden I had to find out what Bush had to say.

Q But don't you believe that the threat that bin Laden posed won't truly be eliminated until he is found either dead or alive?

THE PRESIDENT: Well, as I say, we haven't heard much from him. And I wouldn't necessarily say he's at the center of any command structure. And, again, I don't know where he is. I -- I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him. I know he is on the run. I was concerned about him, when he had taken over a country. I was concerned about the fact that he was basically running Afghanistan and calling the shots for the Taliban.

But once we set out the policy and started executing the plan, he became -- we shoved him out more and more on the margins. He has no place to train his al Qaeda killers anymore. And if we -- excuse me for a minute -- and if we find a training camp, we'll take care of it. Either we will or our friends will. That's one of the things -- part of the new phase that's becoming apparent to the American people is that we're working closely with other governments to deny sanctuary, or training, or a place to hide, or a place to raise money.

And we've got more work to do. See, that's the thing the American people have got to understand, that we've only been at this six months. This is going to be a long struggle. I keep saying that; I don't know whether you all believe me or not. But time will show you that it's going to take a long time to achieve this objective. And I can assure you, I am not going to blink. And I'm not going to get tired. Because I know what is at stake. And history has called us to action, and I am going to seize this moment for the good of the world, for peace in the world and for freedom.
    http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/03/20020313-8.html

This pretty much explains why we could find bin Laden, we WEREN'T LOOKING. The reason Bush had authorization to go to war in the FIRST place was to get bin Laden. If McCain takes over we still won't.to the tune of $10,000,000,000 per month. while we talk about McCain's old veiws (2000) and earmarks.
