Stalemate Continues

Last night at the Forum McCain proved to the world that he is a knee-jerk reationist, and Obama thought things through. Which one would you want with his finger on the Nuclear Bomb Button? The Neo-Cons or a person who REASONS.?

Constitutionally one could argue that Hillary and Bill could be considered the same and hence Bill Clinton could be considered under the legal fiction as serving a third term in a Hillary Clinton Presidency.
Our Constitution is relatively brief and the writers of 22nd Amendment in 1949 also had to be brief and did not envision or address every potential scenario. Because they did not exclude spouses does not imply that they meant to include spouses as being eligible to serve after one spouse has served two terms. When this amendment was passed in 1949, the lack of women in the Senate, House, and judiciary probably meant that consideration of spouses was not even on their radar at that time. Democrats have elliptically alluded to this Constitutional problem as saying it might be difficult with Bill around in a future presidency of Hillary Clinton. Yes it would be difficult for our Constitution. It is also difficult now to criticize Putin and his legitimacy because we have not been faithful to our Constitution thanks to the Democrats. The answer does have implications beyond our border because other countries look to the United States as a model of democracy or standard in which to emulate. The issue of term limits resonates thoughout the world from Zimbawe to Russia. Foreign countries also may not understand the nuances of our elections and Constitutional law and things that may be clear to us may not be so clear to foreign electorates and leaders.

Georgia is controlled by United States. US is creating satelite states, not Russia and now supporting genocide in Osetia. Where is the US condemnation of the genocide? The last years coupleof years we have learned that it is ok for US to invade other countries, change regimes, torture, create illegal states, break international law on daily basis. Now genocide is also permitted. Any retaliation against US would be justified after this, my respect for the US could not drop lower

I have been following the fighting in South Ossetia from the beginning and was impressed by the rapid deployment of tanks and infantry by Russia. Normally that operation takes a minimum of 3-5 days but was underway when the first shots were fired . The Russians reported 2000 civilian deaths occurred in South Ossetia the first day of fighting. In fact, it is impossible for the Russians or the Georgians to kill 2000 civilians hiding in the basements of masonary and brick building with the conventional artillery tanks, lauchers and small arms . Also, the wounded usually number 3-5 times the deaths. According to the local hospitals the actual number of deaths in South Ossetia is nearer a 100 not 2000 with an additional 200-300 injured. The Georgians have a similar number of civilians killed and wounded in the Russian advance through numerous villages and the capture of the city of Gori. On the military side the Russians have close to 100 killed or missing in action and the Georgia Army losses are close to 1000 killed or missing.
It is tragic that so many lives were lost and that more than 200,000 cvilians have been forced from their homes by one or the other Army and bands of roving militia out to loot rob and burn. Maybe our media will actually sort out the truth versus just publishing the exaggerated stories each side has reported.

Let us hope this is not another script from a Bush/Cheney Iran play, i.e. that the Bush administration may have encouraged Georgia to fire into South Ossetia.

We can change the dates back to the late 1930's and change the name to Hiltler, the results will be the same, slowly Russsia will regain all its former territories while the world sits around and watches. Will we ever learn.

I watched very closely the early fighting in South Ossetia and was very surprised by the very rapid Russian Deploynment in force of tanks and infantry. That operation takes 3-5 days minimum to manage and the decision would have had to been made by the Russians about the time the first fighting began if not before!
Secondly, the Russian Army could not kill 2000 civilians in a single day taking shelter in basements of brick masonary homes with tank , artillery and small arms fire. The Georgian Army did not possess the weaponary necessary to inflict 2000 deaths and normally the wounded would be 3-5 times that number.
Those dead and wounded civilians the Russians reported have mysteriously not been found. Most that came to the local hospital were wearing army uniforms.The actual number based on the weapons deployed in South Osettia realistically is going to around 100 civilian deaths and 3-4 times that number injured. The deaths and injuries in Georgia will be about the same. The Russian Army lost less than 100 killed and the Georgian Army close to 1000. Both sides have a number missing in action. .
I would hope that most intelligent people would realize that in a war both sides exaggerate !!!!!
It is a TRAGEDY that innocent civilians were killed and wounded in South Ossetia and Georgia.

If it ever became apparent that McCain will win the election
the Russians will pull out of Georgia faster than you can say ???Ronald Reagan???(if they don't do so before then).
They know that McCain will go eyeball to eyeball with them if necessary. The Russians are
bold but not crazy and will back down.
To Obama, I???m afraid Georgia will just be the price of peace. But then he???ll be tested with Poland, Hungary
and the Baltics when it will become a lot more dangerous to respond..
If you remember, it was the reality that Ronald Reagan would be occupying the White House that got the ball
rolling on the Iranian hostages.

I wake up each morning in the hope that this nightmare is over. However, the war just continues and gathers steam. Now the first conclusions can at last be made. Firstly, Georgia has been preparing for this situation for a long time and these preparations have not been made by Georgia alone. It is clear that it was supported by the most reactionary circles of today???s governing elite in American. This is because as a result of this military aggression it is the Republicans who win, represented by candidate McKein, who managed to not only catch up with Obama but to be in advance of him. Thus, thanks to the heating up of the international situation by Georgia, the hawks are winning. That is why American as an acting power has invested so much money in Georgia.

??????????????With great sorrow I have to state that we completely lost the information war. What they say of us abroad is terrifying. Saakashvili can be seen everywhere strongly resembling Hitler, tossing himself around, with a puckered mouth and with an idiot fringe, crying that Russia started aggression against Georgia. Yet, not a word is said that the Georgians first destroyed Tskhinvali and shot civilians and peace-makers. I do not even mention that Saakashvili has to be judged by the Hague Tribunal as an international criminal for the use of heavy artillery and "GRAD" multiple rocket launchers being used against living quarters. This is, for those who do not know, that "GRAD" launchers cover whole districts in their power. This weapon cannot "find out" who is right and who is guilty, and when the military hostilities destroy the whole network existing on a huge area (not only military facilities but the living quarters as well), it becomes clear that Saakashvili had a purpose to destroy the Ossetian people physically, and he succeeded in this killing by 2000 people in 1 day. If the European community judges Karadjich for genocide, so, obviously, Saakashvili has to be next in line.

Our dear president is mentally challanged. Our dear Vice President is a senile old sociopath.
But, what bothers me the most about our dear leaders is the fact that they aren't the kind of people who make realistic plans. The president can't plan a bicycle ride, let alone the evacuation of an entire city in the advent of a hurricane. And, the Vice President can't even plan an amicable quail hunting trip.
Putin IS the sort who makes realistic plans! And I have no doubt that he has realistic plans for us now that Bush has gotten us involved in this.
I wish that those in the Senate and the House who would be our future leaders would at least hold a special session to consult with us about what they believe needs to be done or perhaps not done.
