I just posted a comment, but got the wrong article. I'll say this about I'm glad everything worked out will for Cornell du Houx, but it's doesn't work out that well for million of returing Iraq War Veterans who find out that the World War II GI Bill is in name only and that they are saddled with thousands of dollars of debt.
McCain wants to cut veterans benefits, to show his gratitude for the sacrifices veterans made. Obama wants a fully-funded Veterans bill , patterned after the GI Bill of World War II.
Any one moved by this article, any one who really cares about Iraqi war Veterans, needs to vote for Obama and his Democratic allies - not McCain

I am struck by the irony of the event. All of the pundits said McCain scored a whopping victory over Obama. But the event really reveals the sort of Chrisitianity that the evangelicals espouse.
Obama of course cited scripture, ???Whatever you do for the least of my brothers, you do for me.??? He used this to point out what he considered American???s greatest failing, insufficient help for the disadvantaged.
McCain, on the other, stressed the need to eliminate taxes because he wanted to make everyone rich.
    What did Jesus say?
First of all, Jesus attacked the rich. He told the rich man to sell all he had and give to the poor. I don???t see John or Cindy McCain doing that.
When asked what do about evil, McCain pledged to defeat it, pledging to go to the Gates of Hell to capture Osama bin Laden. (Forget the fact that McCain rubber-stamped Bush???s invasion of Iraq, and a result bin Laden is still at large.) Obama cautioned us that before confronting evil we should be careful that we do not commit evil ourselves. (Like the war in Iraq.)
On the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus warned us about the foolishness removing a speck from our neighbor???s eye when there???s a splinter in our own. While McCain scored lots of points for his defeat-evil approach, we???ve had 7 years of defeating evil - and what has it gotten us?
Ironically too, Jesus did not spend most of his time preaching - he spent most of his time healing the sick - (Bear in mind too that many of the sick that Jesus healed were outcasts according the Book of Leviticus.) Never once did he ask for health insurance. McCain supported Bush???s veto of SCHIPS. He wants to privatize Medicare. He chatters about health insurance - forgetting conveniently that medical insurance does NOT guarantee access to health care. (See Michael???s Moore???s Sicko.)
Of course, all the talking heads on TV news tell us that McCain has won the evangelical vote hands down. But that???s simply a reflection on the evangelicals view of religion. In terms of faith-based values - Obama obviously wins hands down.
