What is the purpose of posting such hate mail comments on the internet? It is like somebody's head is stuck in the toilet and he or she can't think of anything better to do with their life. So get a life or die trying.

Your comment about using the kooran for toilet paper is extremely offensive. You are the typical ignorant monolingual who knows nothing about other religions, cultures, and countries, and travels abroad only to go to McDonalds. How patetic you are!

Musharraf leaving wont do anything. He has immunity and the next lot of people will be the same, just a bit more cautious. As long as the people are not educated and are filled with mindless religious narrow mindedness they wont change.
Who Cares, Who Really Cares?
Musharraf came to power after he overthrew Sharif. No US involvement there. During his reign Taliban got enough military support to take over Afghanistan. Pakistan was one of the only two countries (Saudi Arabia was the other) who recognized Taliban as legitimate. No US involvement there either. Mullahs were free (and still are) to preach fundamentalistic fervor via the thousands of madarassas and the Military was covertly trying to wrestle India's Kashmir by arming jihadis (religious soldiers) by infiltrating into Indian territory. This was all under Musharraf - no US involvement here. After 9/11 the US gave Musharraf an ultimatum - you are either with us or against us!
The dilemma began for Musharraf. The Mullah-Miltary infrastructure, and the majority of Pakistani population was always and will always be anti-US. The US ( and India inspite of its' minority muslim population) was always considered as being anti-muslim and therefore - anti Pakistan. There was no option for Musharraf but, to side with the US post 9/11. Ultimately, his power was going to erode for doing that.
If and when he leaves, the Mullah-Military infrastructure (think anti-US) that Musharraf and every General before him sought to consilidate will become even more powerful. The cradle of islamic militancy will continue to grow it's fangs never mind the presence or absence of Musharraf
No US involvement there either.
drinking the red/white/blue tea are we?
Pakistan was a KEY ally in our war against the Soviets in Afghanistan. The CIA encouraged Religious pride/freedom (the Commies don't even believe in God, remember?) as a rallying point for the many disparate tribes.
The Taliban seized on that, convincing our former allies that we were friends of convenience only, but that, push-comes-to-shove, the U.S. wanted to destroy Islam (their words, not mine). Our absence in the region for the better part of a decade (after the Soviets left) made it easier to spread the lie.
You are correct, however, in that Musharraf was/is an opportunist who only joined the "War on Sanity" --err "War on Terror" as a means of defeating his local enemies. When he failed, he stabbed us in the back and the gave them the safe haven they've been using against us for the last year. It was too little, too late, however, as his heavy-handed tactics branded him a stooge and cemented the mistaken belief in the peoples' minds that the U.S. was/is an enemy.
No, it's all the U.S.'s fault, but we have to be very careful as it is difficult to predict the consequences of our actions or lack thereof.

yet another bush crony run out of office...
how many is that now? 7 ... 8? (let's not forget Australia, Italy, and, oh yes, England)
On the plus side, now we won't have to overthrow him ten years from now.

What bothers me most as an American is that American politics is starting to resemble South Asian politics. We have epic problems ahead, regarding energy, national debt, national security, and foreign policy. They're all inter-related, and none of them are really being addressed this election cycle.
Except for a few, like Andrew Bacevich and Thomas Friedman, no one is talking about what we need to do to preserve our sovereignty in this century.
Obama and McCain had the opportunity to go big on this one, but they went small. I'm sorry, but gas tax holidays and universal health care are just feel-good freebies. If we don't fix our problems, we're headed for a Pakistani-style death spiral.
I'm going to save my vote for the one who'll say to America that there are hard choices ahead, that they start at home, and no, there's no basket of candy waiting for us. Just the knowledge that we saved the last great democracy for another day.
As an American, I find this both distressing and embarrassing. The average Pakistani is right to criticize the US, as our Cold War tactics in Afghanistan and propping up unpopular military leaders has led to the current fiasco. The average American should be greatly alarmed that Osama bin Laden is living in a country with a nuclear arsenal. The worst part is, our invasion and occupation of Iraq is largely responsible for our letting bin Laden to set up operations in Pakistan. I voted for Bush twice. I won't make the same mistake with McCain.
If you guys thought that hings were tough in Afghanistan before, wait until Musharraf leaves the country and somebody else takes over...
The US will have to send double the number of troops thay haver over there already...
If you thought that things were tough for the US in Afghanistan with this fellow in power in Pakistan, wait until he leaves and somebody else takes power.....
You guys will have to send double the number of troops over there....
Terrorist? Can you please explain the term! Who' s terrorist, who's not. Am I? Are "nukes" some fire-crackers? Sire, before you turn to critcise democracy, ask yourself what it is. And yeah, about Pakistan doing nothing about this so-called terrorism, tell me what in God's name provoked USA invade Iraq? Was it terrorism? If Pakistan is doing nothing, then surely USA is killing time there too. Finally let it be known buddy that wars can't be won through arms, you need to win over hearts.
We should ask Russia to leave Georgia and invade Pakistan,With all the terrorist in that country and the nukes they have. How can you have democracy and let terrorist live in your country.Pakistan is doing noughting to fight the terorrist-there signing oeace agrements with them, how asinine.Let the Russians have that country and leave Georgiaalone.
WELL WE ALL IN Pakistan, hope that Newsweek is right. the whole nation will sigh in relief at his departure, if he departs(i personally think he wont and will have to be dragged kicking and screaming by Army chiek, Gen Kayani). He always said PAKISTAN FIRST- well President now act on your words and please GO.

This seems to the end of this painfull saga. I hope he will pray at holy mosque in Mecca and try to seek forgiveness for all the lies and sins committed in pursuit of total power , under cover of fighting militancy and corruption. his rule has been marked with unique hipocracy and dual standards. He has fatally damaged the already beleagured judiciary in Pakistan and by forgiving politicians all their iil-gotten corruption money, like it was his personal property, institutionalised political bribery to new heights.
Well if the foriegners and US decide to go against the will s of Pakistani People like always, of course Sharif and Zardari will be the ones leaving.
However this time around I would like to see the US not to interfere with another country's affairs and put in puppet regimes.
to the utmost frustation of india Gen Musharraf is finally on his way to Sarwar Palace in Saudi arabia wher e he once placed Nawaz Sharif (his boss) after taking over as military ruler of the country , according to local news of pakistan people are desparately waiting for the news of his departure so they could celebrate his departure from the president house as it comes exactly after 20 years when the last dictator Gen Zia ul haq died on 17 aug 1988 in an air crash
For those of us who thought we were informed,
