    Hello Most Esteemed Colleague!

I must say it was nice to read something in Newsweek about obama that didn't mention race.

"He (obama), too, had a distant father"

No, he did not have a father. His father abandoned him. So that comparison is off.

"He made an early peace with the Daley family."

He was introduced by Michelle whose father was a precinct captain and had a city job like you alluded to in the beginning. He is also connected to Blagojevich and Daley through Rezko and his Arab brethren's money. Though he paid him back by endorsing Dorothy Tillman, a few months after her financial discretions were disclosed. April 2007. Wasn't that when Obama was touting his superior "judgment"?

It's amazing how these comments show less of the usual Repug rhetorical bullshit, and more intellectual input. It seems HolyRoller needs to get back to work.

Hey I'm glad to know you missed me. Been watching Andrea Mitchell squirm. Enjoying seeing the truth about Hussein being a Baby Killer come out (HolyRoller told ya'll months ago). Wondering when someone will have the balls to ask him...."Senator, at what time did your daughters obtain human rights. Or is that above your pay-grade??"

This is getting more fun by the day.

For Two hundred years or more we brought slaves in holding ships to America, families tore apart, beaten raped and treated worse than we did the Native Americans, and then the Civil War supposedly help free the blacks, but they were held in servitude and bondage for over another century. In the sixties some of us and the Democrats helped enforce Civil Rights, the South almost immediatly went Repig. For the last eighty years Blacks were led to believe they were dumb, ignorant and taught in certain ways that they were a different species by the Repig Party, despite the phony front that the Repigs put up. Most Repig Conservatives I know actually do not like (and I'll use their language) N____rs. Go_ks, Rughheads, or anyone that has one drop of any blood other than white. These are facts all you have to do is listen to the past rhetoric from some Southern (Not all) Politicians. And now that you have a wellspoken, intelligent , well educated man with a beautiful family, the Knuckle Dragging Neanderthals and low IQ'd jealous, prejudiced perverts are coming out of the Peanut Fields and Trailor parks, with their pitchforks and hangman's nooses. This man Obama would be great for America and black relations, Why do the Repigs cheer for Tiger, Jordan, Robinson etc and then use the N word their backs? so why not give him a chance and stop your hate. INDEPENDENTS LIsten up. P.S Hello Kieth and J. Meretsky.

So much Fineman hooey! McCain is center-right, Obama is a leftist. McCain is a patriot; Obama is anything but. McCain believes in duty to country, Obama believes in his own opportunity. McCain has served his country for a long time and Obama hardly at all. McCain is an old fart, Obama is in his prime. No one wants to listen to McCain, Obama draws crowds. Obama has charisma, McCain has none. Obama is smart, Mccain is mediocre.

Obama got his brains from his mother's side of the family. These two characters are as different as night and day and I'm not talking about their color!

  • Posted By: labman57 @ 08/18/2008 7:34:15 PM

Another difference--Obama says what he thinks and believes, whereas McCain says what he thinks the crowd wants to hear whether he actually believes it or not. (Can you say "pandering"?)

    • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 08/18/2008 8:22:39 PM

Please be advised changing your stance on drilling for oil after the polls show the voters overwhelmingly favor it is also considered pandering. Agree?

      • Posted By: labman57 @ 08/18/2008 8:30:49 PM

He didn't change his stance. He is still opposed to it, but is willing to compromise in order to get the ball rolling on energy reform. Life, it turns out, is not made of only black and white, but shades of grey. Taking extremist positions on policy may play to the crowd, but it is not pragmatic and rarely leads to anything productive being accomplished.

Boy ya'll Kool-Aide kids.......aka obamamohammeds, declare ANY criticism of your messiah as slander. Why don't you say what you really think....APOSTASY and HERESY.......

FYI...Hussein's camp today ADMITED, he has been lying (par for the course with Barry)... about his reason for voting against banning infanticide, inIllinois. He had been saying it would restrict Roe vs Wade. They finally admit it would not have. They are trying to spin it, but it will not work. The proof is in black and white. The identical bill cleared the U.S. Senate with NO dissenting votes. Hussein killed it in committee in Illinois.

Hussein out and out supported killing newborns. No other way to say it.

I wish the MSM had the guts to ask this question...At what time did YOUR daughters receive human rights, Senator???

He supports murder, in return for votes or money. As the hippies used to call our soldiers...BABY KILLER!!!
Hussein "Barry Soerto" Obama is no more than a BABY KILLER!!!

Like I said on the other thread, Roller, you have no credibility until you start following the tenets of your own religion. One of your Commandments is "Thou shalt not kill" - but I seem to remember a comment of yours on another thread - "bomb, bomb Iran" sung to the tune of a Beach Boys song.

You seem to think that the Commandments only apply to the people you want them to apply to, and that makes your opinion invalid. No one should be listening to a man who can't follow the most basic tenets of what he preaches - you call someone out for being a "murderer" yet you've advocated outright genocide against millions. You want "no other way to say it" - you're no better than a murderer yourself for calling for the carpet-bombing of ountries of millions - but you're even worse because you claim to respect life. How do you reconcile your own calls for killing with your own Commandments? Do they only apply to people like you?

I'll continue to stand AGAINST that - and AGAINST the killing you call for - as upright as an oak - no matter how long you keep yelling. Good day to you.

Your name of HolyRoller says all it needs to about your validity as a human being. Good thing he's not also Jewish or else you'd be yelling that he's responsible for Jesus's death. Go preach at your church we don't need any of that stuff here. Roe v. Wade is law. Deal with it.

I have a SERIOUS question for Obama fans!

HOW IS HE GOING TO CREATE 5 MILLION JOBS like he promises?

Is he going to expand Governement THAT much and hire 5 million people? I hope he realizes its mostly small business that cause all the job growth and that by taxing small businesses he's more likely to ERASE 5 million jobs vs create even ONE new job.

Also in all of his brilliance, the economy is shrinking and will continue to shrink for next 1 to 5 years based on housing market blow up, bank blow ups, credit blow ups, etc, etc. In this view in my opinion it makes his JOB CREATION the biggest lie ever told to the American public in the history of the United States.

Will some Democrat please explain how he plans to do this and WHY you believe him? I know PT Barnum said a sucker's born every minute but do you REALLY BELIEVE everything this fool tells you?

    • Posted By: PReed1962 @ 08/18/2008 8:04:40 PM

Job creation! Good question~! We need our young people working on windmills and solar installs and revamping the entire electricity grid and digging water diversion projects and rebuilding/repairing bridges and many many projects we can implement like a WPA or Peace Corps type of effort. WE WILL do this, not Obama! It's hard work to get something like this going and I'm not sure you know the kind of hard work I'm talking about. What CAN be done? What SHOULD be done? Lets do that.

    • Posted By: TheVigil @ 08/18/2008 4:08:23 PM

I'm not paying any attention to that kind of rhetoric. I have no idea whether or not Obama can create 5,000,000 jobs - I certainly wouldn't support that much expansion of government - but I do believe that he will attempt to return the economy to certain fundamentals that don't involve the massive transfer of wealth from the middle class to the rich that we've seen over the last eight years.

No one is fooled by your crap. If you're a career day trader, you have *no* respect for things that make an ACTUAL and FUNCTIONING economy run - which are LONG-TERM investment and companies that provide solid goods and services, INCLUDING small businesses. Whatever Obama's rhetoric is, I do actually and honestly believe he will attempt to improve working and economic conditions for small business and the middle class.

I belive McCain, by contrast, though he was once a fine and upstanding moderate Republican, will do whatever he has to in order to enjoy the support of the oil executives and business tycoons that currently have power in the party. The forced smile he's been wearing lately strikes me as the face of a man who knows he's selling out in order to attempt to reach the Presidency, but is doing it anyway for the fame and the power, and I think his integrity will have all but disappeared if he gets elected within four years. The Paris Hilton ad reinforces that perception for me as well. He's running on brand loyalty right now - NOT integrity.

So, sir, with all due respect, the rest of the country is sick of getting lied to - but Obama's not the one lying on a fundamental basis. There's a difference between campaign rhetoric and the outright naked greed that the Republican Party has endorsed over the last eight years. If you want to spit the standard line about how large corporations really are actually good for the economy in a time when just about EVERYONE except the oil megacorps are hurting, making the numbers come out deceptive because those same oil megacorps are seeing such obscene profits that the combined figures hide the pain that American automakers, retailers, small businesses, and manufacturing are feeling, you can personally go and get ****ed. God willing, you and your kind are getting run out of town come November, and it's long overdue.

      • Posted By: careerdaytrader @ 08/18/2008 5:37:06 PM

Thanks for basically saying and proving my point. You have NO CLUE how he's going to create 5 MILLION new jobs! I have NO CLUE either because almost every economist I've read is predicting increased inflation which will PREVENT the fed from lowering interest rates (when they lower inflation typically goes up). So the Fed's hands are tied and RAISING TAXES is the most retarded financial policy a new president could ever do. But Barak really believes these new taxes will STIMULATE GROWTH.

Do the math = Higher taxes = Less money in people's pockets = Less spending

Do the math = Higher taxes to business owners = Less money in companies accounts = Fewer Jobs

I suspect if you found 10 bright 1st Graders they would UNDERSTAND this. Why can't Democrats?

        • Posted By: TheVigil @ 08/18/2008 7:05:21 PM

By the way, your assumption that taxes never increase growth is also contrary to many aspects of established economic theory. It implies that large companies never waste or become monopolistic, which is never the case. Government is necessary to prevent what's called "X-inefficiency" - basically corruption and waste. I suggest you read about that particular term...

          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-inefficiency

        • Posted By: TheVigil @ 08/18/2008 7:03:09 PM

Instead of cherry-picking statements from my post - and I'll reiterate, I'm not voting for Obama because of that particular comment about "five million jobs", so your implication that I believe in it and understand it is just a lie and a mischaracterization - why don't you go get a job that has some real benefit to the economy? I think 10 bright seventh graders or so might understand the idea that no investment of less than a day's duration can ever help produce useful goods or services to the economy and that all it does is speculate and attempt to remove money from the stock markets without ever providing a useful service in return...

And by the way, money is like blood to an economy. A healthy economy has a balance of money in the hands of the poor, the middle class, and the rich, and when it CIRCULATES it facilitates the transfer of goods and services - analogous to blood providing oxygen to cells. It's a LUBRICANT for the exchange of those goods and services, not an end in and of itself. Right now, the money's all pooled up in the hands of a VERY small percentage of the population - as evidenced by skyrocketing prices in the top 1% of the housing sector while the rest of it crumbles - and as a result the rest of the country is being starved out. It's analogous to hypoxia, where cells die from lack of oxygen - and also to the conditions that produce stroke, as blood pooling in a particular area tends to rupture tissue (in this case, failing to provide its intended function of financial lubrication and instead encouraging theft, stagflation and waste).

Almost no economists believe that a First World country can exist without a middle class, and that's exactly what's been happening recently in America. Your implications that you're smarter than the rest of us are just blatant misunderstandings of the financial system, though I assume you could probably brainwash those first graders into believing your debunked trickle-down theories if you tried hard enough.

Right now, taxes on the wealthiest WILL improve the economy, returning a lot of the money that's pooling up at the top to circulation and actually increasing goods and services. I can promise you that. But by all means, go continue speculating if you want, as I can't stop you.

Do you believe that McCain can? He has Carly Fiorina on his side. We all remember her. CEO of HP. Remember her famous comment.

      • Posted By: TheVigil @ 08/18/2008 4:11:40 PM

I bought an HP laptop against my better judgement for about a thousand dollars right around the time Ms. Fiorina was caught spying on her board. The keyboard was never reliable - the Shift key would get stuck electronically (not physically) - it was slow despite having an extremely powerful processor - and I swear the dam.ned thing tingled under my fingers when I used it because the shielding was so bad. Within a year it more or less burned out completely; it's sitting useless in my attic now.

Sad to see what her tenure has brought to a once-vibrant company. My honest guess is that she was too busy trying to reap mammoth profits and stay ahead of the corporate politics to actually do a good job of running her company. I won't be buying any more HP products in the foreseeable future.

When I think of McCain winning, I think of another four years of stagnant messes and little change for the better. When I think of Obama winning, I think of all that can happen for the better.

McCain is old school, old politics, buzzword bingo-laden, talking points all the way. Obama is thoughtful and thought provoking.

I want a president who used his/her brains and inspires the rest of the country to use theirs, too.

In February 2001, Cheney and the oil execs hammered out the plan to invade and occupy Iraq. The next president, whether McCain or Obama, should agree to release the "energy plan" that has driven gas prices to record highs. The American public has a right to know our energy plan, especially since it appears that the fix was in when they all met well before 9/11. In order to right the ship of state the next administration needs to discontinue every illegal (which are too numerous to list here) policy of the current administration. I have to believe Obama is the most likely to do that. McCain said it is important that strict constructionist judges are appointed to the federal bench yet he supports warrantless wire taps and seizing individuals without due process. I guess the 4th and 14th amendments don't really mean what they say because all the travesties that have been committed by this administration could have been nipped in the bud if the courts had truly construed the Constitution as a protection of the individual's rights instead of acting as a rubber stamp of Bush and Cheney. We don't need more fear-mongering from McBush Lite and his lobbyists, that he banned from his campaign. The question he should be asked is, will his administration be bought by lobbyists? I bet it will because banning them from his campaign is just a stunt, I don't believe McCain and all his phony-cronies have severed their loving friendships with the human leaches, the lobbyists who buy and sell your rights and freedoms to the highest bidders.

We are a debtor nation, a consumer nation and not a PRODUCER nation. We are bankrupt and the Republican machine through the military insane actions put us there. If the American public votes yet again for the same old same old then we deserve the chaos that will no doubt about it come.

Quite a bit of difference in experience.

    • Posted By: TheVigil @ 08/18/2008 4:16:01 PM

There are those of us who see that difference in "experience" as a difference in the number of ties to the current self-serving Washington establishment. Personally I'm sick near to death of career politicians. I believe democracy functions better when men and women are tied to their communities and careers rather than political establishments, which historically have almost always turned corrupt around the time politics became a full-time job.

I might also remind you that there was another tall, lanky lawyer out of Illinois who became President once with no previous experience in Washington either.

      • Posted By: jarcher1 @ 08/18/2008 7:12:00 PM

More to it than that. Nobodies experience as a Senator prepares them to be the nation's chief executive. The closest training position available is Governor of some state, preferably a large one with a large rural population and a large urban population. Dubya went through just such a training program and look at the kind of President he made. Experience takes a back seat to skill in listening to all sides, analyzing the information available, then making a decision that provides the best outcome for the most Americans. Anybody out there really believe McCain is superior to Obama in this? I know I don't.

McCain is a man who plagiarized his talk to Georgia by copying it from Wikipedia, a man who plagiarized his own testimony about the cross
A story about Alexander Solzhenitsyn from his times in the Soviet Gulags.
As he waited, head down, he felt a presence. Slowly he looked up and saw a skinny old prisoner squat down beside him. The man said nothing. Instead, he used a stick to trace in the dirt the sign of the Cross. The man then got back up and returned to his work.
As Solzhenitsyn stared at the Cross drawn in the dirt his entire perspective changed. He knew he was only one man against the all-powerful Soviet empire. Yet he knew there was something greater than the evil he saw in the prison camp, something greater than the Soviet Union. He knew that hope for all people was represented by that simple Cross. Through the power of the Cross, anything was possible.

topcat2001 - Forgive me for making an assumption, however, I don't think it was either political party that got you your 100K+ job at a multi-billion dollar company. You [both] seized the opportunity and have benefitted from it over the years.

The challenge I sense --as I had fallen for myself-- after a number of years you see only what you have to loose instead of the opportunities before you - as you did when you started!

Regardless of how much money one makes, if the check is signed by someone else, the risk is greater because it's up to them whether you continue with the company. I can personally tell you there are great risks for small business owners, however, the rewards are equally great because I know my success is dependent on my effort, people skills and willingness not to quit. As the saying goes, get up one more time, and one more time, and???

Don't let the possibility of a future illness hold you back, if you have an idea, go for it!

I can't wait for these candidates to debate each other, so that McCain can expose Barrack "empty suit" Obama, for the choreographed candidate he truly is. There is no one better at reciting speeches with chorizema than Obama. I like the fact that his response to difficult questions are flexible, so that they don't conflict with what he has already said, might say, or couldn't say because he hasn't been in office long enough to have been held accountable. The Rick Warren interviews are a testament of what to come, Osama???s days are numbered.

Can Howard change the reference in the first paragraph to "goathereder" rather than goatheard (sic)? I love Howard, I knew what he meant, but it might be taken advantage of by others.
