Senator Obama has always fought for a women's right to choose and has consistently opposed efforts to pass measures lacking a health exception. Also, Senator Obama recognizes that some people view these health exceptions not as exceptions, but as a way around these restrictions. Senator Obama believes that while "mental distress" or simply "feeling blue" should not be covered by a health exception, there will be cases where carrying to term a pregnancy may seriously damage a woman's mental health and those cases should be covered. During an interview with Relevant Magazine, Senator Obama made the point that we can craft well-defined health exceptions - as pro-choice legislators have tried in Congress and in state legislatures - that address those concerns.

The Republicans don't know too much other than what they distribute among one another, take Rove, Buchanan, Bush, Cheney, Gramm, McCain and that radio guy, can't remember his name off the top of my head but they all say something and every republican thinks it is right, thus the term Right wing. Left is open ended and open for discussion, that's what I like the most about Democratic ideas. And that's what Barack Obama is all about, change in the ways we think.

In a word.........BULL......... Another example of the left MSM cheerleading BO again. Can't , mention his position on abortion. Can't call him a socialist, which McCain won't. Can't challenge taxes. If this guy can't deal with John MCCain and Republicans how can he deal with Russia and Iran, North Korea??? Never has a person running for President been so protected by the press.

There are tons of issues at stake this election that will only become worse if McCain takes office, which by the way he will not if the nation has anything to say about it. Obama is a person with a vision to lead and all great presidents start with a vision. Because if its about shoot first and ask questions later, then we have tried that the last eight years and I for one didn't even vote for it in the first place.

Questions for McCain: It's been nearly 7 years since 9/11. If we are to believe you that you know how to catch him and bring him to trial, why have you not told anyone how to do it? Is it because the line is your ticket to the presidency? Second, you have talked passionately of our support for Georgia. How would we support them? With what troops? With what money? Third, you said you would not bring up your Viet Nam experience during the campaign. When will you start honoring that pledge?

Talk about falsehoods. If you raise Social Security limites pass the $100,000 level, its a tax increase. The dems have stopped every attempt to increase domestic energy. Obama in the forefront. Reduced supply increases prices. The Germany hospital trip was cancelled by Obama, not the Pentagon. He could have and should have gone. You call yourself a journalist. Quit spreading false propagnda.

  • Posted By: Cloudosmoke @ 08/19/2008 11:06:24 AM

Change is a vision not a political stance. McCain will not change the divisiveness of the country, he will only make it worse. McCain dogs Social Security and yet benefits from it. McCain is behind on credit debt and yet talks about taxing working class so people like himself and his wife can maintain their lifestyle. Obama is about changing peoples' lives. He has a grasp on foreign affairs and domestic policy. He knows how to connect with not only U.S. citizens, but with World Leaders alike. If you want to stick with the straight talk, then stick with it, don't come in here talking about change. If you want true genuine, new political ways of thinking change, then vote Obama, but vote nonetheless.

Let's not forget that it was the Obama people who first lied when they repeated (adnauseam) that McCain wanted the war in Iraq to last 100 years. They knew what McCain had said and what he meant, but they proceeded to misrepresent it over and over and over and over again... repeating it every chance they got. That was the first smear in this campaign and it set the tone. But that aside, liberals (like Alder) can???t handle the fact that Republicans are better at it than they are. Let that be a lesson to all you soft-heads out there: If you???re going to lie and smear at all, you might as well go at it wholeheartedly and with gusto, just dabbling in it doesn???t work.

    • Posted By: mslindab @ 08/19/2008 11:05:30 AM

This is a tactic I wish both sides would retire. McCain did say 100 years as he also said $5 million represented wealth. Perhaps he didn't mean it literally. Neither did Obama mean his 'bitter' comments literally. McCain missed no opportunity to resurrect that. It is a 'gotcha' game that insults the voter and is played, unfortunately, by both sides.

DO you believe starting an article with the press is fair so the following make believe story must be true logic fools anyone. Newsweek is smearing McCain at every chance they get. You have become the Enquirer of weeklys. Obama is the one who smeared everyone with his racist 'race' speech when he got caught belonging to a racist church that even Oprah left because it was so radical.

The truth is Obama is an inexperienced cocaine user who has flip flopped all over everything. He does not provide facts because he is not smart enough to remeber them. I was at Columbia with him and he was racist then and only there because of affirmative action. He was not the brightest bulb in the light shop.

    Get your facts straight Newsweek!!!

Civil in liberal lingo means that no conservatives are talking so katie couric and hilllary clinton and hussein osama can gush over each other about how much michelle osama loves america and is proud of it even though she isn't

Everyone that says they are the all american will have a different opinion when November comes and goes. Many people talk about how patriotic they are and this and that about how they love their country. If Obama is elected President, they will just assume pack their bags as they will more than likely feel that they have been betrayed and that America is not America anymore. It won't surprise me one bit. But if they do think like that then they can go back to England or Ireland or where ever their ancestors came from, no skin off my back. I have had to sit through GW and Ronnie that stomped on my rights for too long. Obama will bring true perspective of equality to the U.S. This election is too much for youse. Stay on the porch.

It never ceases to amaze me how people on a consistant basis defend the sick policies of the the Bush administration by promoting and supporting "McCain't and isn't able to govern" for president. Totally laughable and totally sick. To consider the sourse of the supporting and promoting of another 4 years of the elitist regime of Bush and Cheney as the truth comes to bear it ugly blood on the brain head of corruption all over again.

Extend your lame and same PAIN with your vote for McCain

Like millions of Americans I did not learn of Obama canceling the meeting with wounded veterans from the McCain Campaign, but threw the Mainstrem News! BabyStalker Obama wouldn't want to go see the troops due to No-Press- Value!
The press was not scheduled to visit, though the military was sure welcoming Obama!
Obama's morals are decrepit. He lies. He has stolen the Clinton "progressive" banner of Americans Suck First! and it's several slick discrimination campaigns!
McCains' compaign countering Obama hit's home. That is not "too far!"
Beyond the fringe of liberal comprehension, yes! But "too far?"
    No!
Alter.YOU are smearing McCain un-fairly and go to far! You should know better.

What are you getting with McCain? I know he has put out a gas tax holiday which no one supported other than HRC. He put out a battery contest (still laughing) for a battery that has already been invented. So what else other than photo ops has McCain presented? Obama has placed his energy initiaitives on the table for everyone to see. He has presented laternative energy plans. He has presented his views on the war on terrorism along with forging alliances with other countries which will be divulged in more specific details come Convention and Debate time. Every policy he has set on the table will be perfected as advisors that specialize in specific areas will critique and provide crucial adjustments to his initiatives. He is doing what must be done in a presidential capacity. McCain is too busy making enemies with foreign countries. I'm sure there are countries and world/regional leaders that already feel disrespected because McCain doesn't know where they are or what they represent. He has already threatened Iran with War, confused borders and tribes in the Mideast Regions. McCain obviously does not have advisors that are capable of providing him with the information that is needed. If you are expecting him to serve alone, then there are real problems with how certain people view politics. And if he doesn't have anyone in position to advise him properly, then he won't understand any more anytime sooner. McCain supporters need to get off the Messiah kick. There's only one Messiah and he will deal with Blasphemy soon enough.

    Oh, puhlese!!!

Jonathan, stop with your left-wing democrat bias.

McCain speaks the truth, and all know this.

Why is telling the truth about someone called a "smear"?

John McCain is wiping the floor with this guy, and you can't take it.

  • Posted By: Cloudosmoke @ 08/19/2008 10:47:22 AM

This is what supporters of the McCain campaign are looking for. A man that has perpetuated job losses and accepts foreign campaign contributions, which is illegal, to which McCain is also a co-sponsor of the campaign finance reform law. McCain is a crook. No straight talk comes from a crooked person. He is full of hot air. Youse GOP'ers need to stay on the porch for the upcoming season.

  • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 08/19/2008 10:45:20 AM

I guess Obama's continual "parsing" and misrepresentation of what McCain says doesn't count as smears.

  • Posted By: Cloudosmoke @ 08/19/2008 10:42:25 AM

McCain has nothing but lies. Lay down with snakes and you will be bitten.

They can't think that analytically. Obamamohammeds are like Pavlov's dogs. They only respond to HOPE and CHANGE. Everything else is a distraction, from their perception of Nirvana.
