Too all, think about how all that has to be paid for. I'm willing to support by my choosing. Not by the governments choosing. The only help the people will get is learning to depend on the government or others to survive instead of themselves. Sad day when we welcome Socialism as our government of choice.

Oh well, if the people want it. So be it!

RadicalCentrist, when you make fun of someone expressing emotion over a man they feel will be the POTUS,
a man that is as different as day and night from our present administration, how do you know that you
are not speaking to someone who has lost a loved on in the war? How do you know you aren't speaking to
someone who just had a check bounce because of the high cost of EVERYTHING and is struggling to pay all
the bills and care for their family? You don't know, so stop judging.
Some of us have been hit very hard and up close by the policies of this current administration and there
isn't anything wrong with feeling emotional about hope, change and the possibility of a different life.
Some of us think outside our own problems and realize how different things would be for our country if
he were our Prez...It's a very exciting, and frightening time so feelings will run high.

Be cool, and understand not all of us are blase about this election, ok?

I said it before and I will say it again.

McCain has had since February to hone his campaign skills. McCain has had since February to form his committees and since then has been throwing people under the bus. McCain has had since February to develop his platform which he has not.

He doesn't want to be president. If he really wanted to be president he would have made a better name for himself while he had the opportunity to do so while Obama was battling Hillary (you all remember the one that was supposed to win). McCain would have righted the wrongs on his VA stances, he would have had a chance to address voting for a war that was wrong and will go down in history in infamy.

McCain doesn't want to be president. He just wants the title. He wants the perks that come along with it. He just wants power.

He doesn't want to be president. If he wanted to be president, he would be giving speeches on the socioeconomic issues the country and world faces which is what the leader of the free world is supposed to do; not stand in front of a crowd of people that already has money looking for a photo op.

If he wanted to be president he would be describing his policy on energy instead of throwing out a gas tax holiday or say he'd throw money at someone to come up with a battery idea that is already here. If he wanted to be president he would be stating his case to be president instead of attacking the person that wants to be president and perform the duties of that office.

Obama wants the job, not the title. He has already made the case to the people. He has already formed allegiances with other countries to deter and suppress terroristic activities and extremism. Obama has put his policies on the table and has let the people see them. He listens to those around him and is willing to work across the aisle to come to agreements on issues that affect us. Just ask Senators Hagel and Bachus.

    Vote Obama for President.

Both are a joke. MaCain and Obama are a joke! Neither one want to do anything to control spending nor encourage growth of this nation. Both want the people dependent on the government so they can be directed to which every way the political wind blows. McCain went too far? No! We did! By selecting these two idiots as choices. Oh well, In November just bend over and vote.

    • Posted By: chindognyc @ 08/19/2008 9:11:18 AM

You got it wrong mclaren. McCain is a joke I agree. Obama doesn't want the people to depend on the government, he want the government to help the people. That means more money for women programs and school and for people who want to start a business.

Sadly, for any former fan of John McCain, the cynicism of the McCain/Rove campaign counts on a dim and justifiably jaded electorate. Obama inspires thousands, while the Rove rat pack sits around like Lenny and Squiggy, hatching schemes. We've seen the GOP haul out this playbook before with the primary tenet, attack your opponent's biggest strength. This year they've added a new twist. When accused of being negative say you are only kidding around?? Yes, slander and liable is funny stuff. If John McCain could get 200,000.00 or even 5000 people out to see him don't you think he would? As it is he has to tag along at a Nascar rally to give the impression he can attract a crowd. John McCain no doubt feels justified since he was the victim of Karl Rove in 2000 and ambition makes strange bedfellows. The GOP has tried to create a narrative about Obama being a alien and the Democrats have tried to make this a referendum on Bush. This is really a referendum on the American electorate (which hopefully the loutish comments of alexblack and holyroller do not represent -very classy guys). Fool me once shame on you (2000). Fool me twice, shame on me (2004) Fool me three times and you are just plain dumb. Karl Rove is counting on that and McCain is so desperate to win that he has signed on to the Hate Talk Express.

The Annenberg Public Policy Center at P.U.? Yeah, they're reliably unbiased. Why not just go to the Daily Koz, or Media Matters. Or you. Johnny. We could just go to you. And we'ld get the same results. So Johnny, why DIDN'T he go see the troops? He made a special trip to see the TERRORIST, Bill Ayers, when he decided to get in to politics. Why not the TROOPS. I mena, he WAS right there. "I can't bring the Press? Oh well. C'mon guys. You can take pictures of me working out at the Gym." And yes Johnny, Obama IS one of the reasons that gas is high. Is he voting to GET MORE OF OUR OWN ENERGY out of the ground? Or is he voting AGAINST IT? I can't wait til this election is over, and that meely mouthed NOBODY, the Street Hustler who would be King, fall to the Earth with a loud THUD. Then you can pull the rest of your hair out of your head, and be done with it. Obama is a spineless NOBODY, who would DESTROY this country if he got the chance. If you don't believe ME, go check his records from when he was an Illinois State Senator. Oh, wait. You can't. THEY WERE ALL DESTROYED. Gee. Now why would anyone want to do that? Put a HAT on, Alter. For Gods' sake.

Please don't use Romper Room as being educaated. You are making no sense. The Republicans already said that they made a mistake making that comment. Gas prices went up when we invaded Iraq. Don't blame the Dems. Blame your leader George Bush.

  • Posted By: chindognyc @ 08/19/2008 9:05:41 AM

Repubs and the McCain supporters need to ask themselves, why are so many Republicans not attending the convention. A huge number of Republicans said that they do not want to be a part of McCain and his support of the Bush policy. I can't see how McCain can win this.

Olbermann is the only one in the media telling the truth about McCain, meanwhile every other station is either reporting negative about Obama or letting McCain get away with everything he says and does, you guys have Rush, Hannity, Fox News, CNN, ABC, CBS , NBC yes NBC...studies have shown already that although Obama gets alot of coverage the majority of it is negative and who gave Obama the most negative coverage>? NBC yes the same station you righties are complaing about all the time who is supposedly in the tank for Obama..

  • Posted By: philmon @ 08/19/2008 8:35:50 AM

I don't know. I think it's arguable that Obama is responsible for policies that have lead to the oil situation we're in and thus higher gas prices. Not solely responsible, but certainly on the anti-domestic bandwagon.

I think the Paris/Brittany ad was spot on and refreshingly light. And as far as the economic/tax policy charges, instead of relying on factcheck.org to tell us what the effects of Obama's policies would be, why don't you instead ask the McCain campaign to justify their charges. THAT would be journalism.

If we could just go to factcheck.org for all of our expert economic advice, maybe their experts should be running for office. I imagine what they did was to go check and see what Obama's people say would be the effects of his policies ... on his website. So in that sense, the "facts" are going to come out to be what Obama says they are.

Let's get the whole story and not just pretend McCain is making this stuff up just because Obama disagrees with what he is saying.

uh are all of the conservative blogs closed today, i see alot wolves out today spewing their hate and untruths about the "chosen one" yea i said it, if McCain says Obama is "the one" then it has to be true; right?
if you care for the truth and can get past your stupidity then you can go here for the truth www.barackobama.com thanks you.

Anyone who associates with Keith Olbermann on a nightly basis shouldn't throw stones at McCain.

Alter - you are clearly on the Obama bandwagon. Of course his visit to wounded troops was political. Plenty of wounded in America also - how many of those has he visited? Without cameras? Of course his views on off shore drilling have led to higher gas prices. Of course his tax plan would hit alot more middle class than you care to admit. I have written honestly. Why dont you do the same and admit you are just an Obama lover and end this scam of supposed objectivity.

    • Posted By: veefab @ 08/19/2008 8:27:32 AM

...and why don't you admit that you are an Obama hater that knows nothing about his positions or what he has done as you have so eloquently misstated, go to www.barackobama.com and learn the truth and stop spewing McSames talking points, all they do is lie and it's obvious to those with half a brain.

Alter, get a grip. Obama is the 21st century Adlai Stevenson... you lose. Stop griping about who's ads are more accurate. Spend some time helping the media to become less leftist-biased. Did you think Republicans, conservatives, and independents were going to let you people decide the 2008 presidential election for them? Fool.

    Dear Mr Alter,

I can't believe given the the false context in which Barak Obama has repeated over and again John McCain's one hundred years in Iraq comment that you would even suggest McCain is the perpetrator of the lies. In fact when McCain joking said you were rich if you made 5 million dollars per year and then laughed that it would be distorted to Rev Warren, behold the next day Mr Obama was actually repeating that Mccain said it. total misusing what McCain had said. The media need to get in touch. The reason McCain is neck and neck with Obama in light of the terrible time Republicans are having else where is because Obama is an anti American radical liberal left of McGovern, Carter, Kerry and Gore. We didn't want them and we don't want Obama.
I can't edit this comment on the interface given, my apologies for errors.

    All best,
    Eric NYC
