topcat2001 congrats those are great references what happened to the Enquirer quotes of McCain getting money from those darn Star Trek Vulcans. Barry will never win!

Again, what FactCheck did NOT point out is that what Obama said WAS THE TRUTH IT MAY BE DATED BUT IT WAS TRUTHFUL.

IN CONTRAST, MCCAIN ACTUALLY LIES AND FACTCHECK LETS MOST OF THAT GO.

You selfish Arab c*ck suckin Republican wimps cannot fool America again.
Most of McCain's money comes from Arab financiers and oil companies
    His top fundraiser says
"I have a lot of Arab business partners. I do a lot of business in the Middle East. I've got a lot of friends," Sargeant said in a telephone interview yesterday. "I ask my friends to support candidates that I think are worthy of supporting. They usually come through for me."

This particular form of dishonesty is known as ''Dowdification'',made [in]famous by its inventor,New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, who took the parsley off a plate of the meat and potatoes of a remark/remarks and hacked it into pieces,or turned around sentances in order to achieve the desired effect.[outrage,if leveled at a Republican, knowing nods,if directed at a Democrat,at least until she began her catfight with Clinton].

Instead of all of us choosing to believe that there is a good side and a bad side, let's hold our senators and congress people to task. They are treating all of us like idiots. Of course, we let them.

What is wrong with our society is that we believe government control and involvement is the cure. It is NOT! It is not the man or woman who is president, but the people who vote these people into their positions. Have we not learned from our own history?

The Messiah Obama will lead us out of the wilderness....right into a pit of alligators! He will start the second term of Jimmy Carter again allowing the USA to be the world's doormat.

If McCain said, "There's been great progress economically" he is dreaming. Gas was already up, housing was in a crisis, two banks were in finanicial straights, and McCain had his photo taken with Bush. Also, the debt of the USA is sky high. McCain must be one of the good old boys; I do mean good old boys.

I believe that McCain is doing the same thing as Obama, one thing right off the bat that erks me is McCain telling the veterans how much nicer it is in the VA hospital under the bush administration and would continue under his administration is baloney...McCain has never in his life has had to navigate this health care system we have now ...talk about a STAR is Born that's McCain... he has no empathy for the vet's....

  • Posted By: tiredoflies @ 08/19/2008 3:47:38 PM

    This bugs me factcheck.

WHERE ARE YOU CHECKING MCCAINS LIES AND DISTORTIONS. JUST BECAUSE YOU CHOOSE NOT TO BRING THEM UP DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE NOT THERE.

One big difference here on this fact check. OBAMA DID NOT LIE. The comments he used may be old BUT THEY ARE THE TRUTH.

MOST OF MCCAINS ARE LIES. THAT IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE.

SHOVE YOUR OPINION AND TELL US THE FACTS. START TALKING THUTH AND LIES AND SAVE YOUR OPINION. YOU ARE TRYING TO PUT YOUR OPINION OUT AS FACT. AND THAT IS JUST PLAIN BULL

McCain said in April 2008 there had been great progress economically. He must have asked Bush to get that answer, because we were already in a economic slow down then. Financials were down, home sales were down, and the Euro dollar was up. Bush still says we are in a slow down and McCain is a Bush boy.
Just one of the good old, and I do mean old, boys.

Oh thats right the economy was in awsome shape last January with no indications of a recession. Besides W said just 4 days ago "America does not have any problems." Fact Check that.

  • Posted By: flacats @ 08/19/2008 3:36:36 PM

Why dont you fact check the blatant lies that McCain and his surrocates have said about Obama?

  • Posted By: john MT @ 08/19/2008 3:29:56 PM

well, yes, the quotes Obama ad uses from McCain are old and dated, but it shows 1) like the current administration McCain didn't foresee nary a problem with the economy leading to the recent recession, and 2) McCain by his own words doesn't know much about economics. Unless there is evidence that McCain has since learned how the economy works (and we all know you can't teach an old dog new tricks) the use of his words are justified.

If McCain is too old and soon to be senile, what about Senator "Hicup" Kennedy and Senator Robert "KKK" Byrd. The liberal standard bearers are much older. Should they be put out to pasture?

Please write a story on how McCain has been defaming Obama especially since Obama's successful European tour ( which the McCain camp turned into a negative). Please write a fact based story....on everything McCain & said & done vs Obama. I think that Obama's ads have not been forceful enough. How come McCain can say & do anything he wants? I suppose Mr. D'Angelo Gore your planning on voting for
McCain....I thought Newsweek wasn't bias does the FOX organazation owe you too?

McCain is old and soon to be senile. If he isn't already, he should begin repeating phrases from the past soon anyway. I know that no one wants to anger the AARP, but this guy is over-the-hill. Voting for him is like voting for his VP. He'll probably die in office.

  • Posted By: Phil in Tucson @ 08/19/2008 2:59:20 PM

You've got to joking; McCain is clueless about the ecconomy and most everything else. It about time the press woke up to this guy; he's basically an idiot. He can't keep his facts straight and blunders daily and here you are trying to imply otherwise?? How about a report on his staffer/ Georgia lobbiest, Phil Gramm and all the other trusted advisor/slime artists?

A pox on McCain and Obama. They both stretch truth. But, after all, a judge in Oregon ruled that it was alright for politicians to lie which only recognizes the reality of campaigning.

  • Posted By: ApostasyUSA @ 08/19/2008 2:58:33 PM

"uses dated and out of context quotes to portray McCain as clueless on the economy."

Nice stretch there D'Angelo Gore of FactCehck.org.

I don't think so "FACT CHECK.org". You tools are looking in the wrong place and the use of the word "dated" IS THE OPINION of Fact Check.org, and whether McCain???s comments were taken out of context IS debatable.

McCain IS out touch with the economy. McCain has an entire HISTORY of being ignorant on these issues. The Obama campaign could have used MUCH worse quotes.

April 2008: McCain Backtracks on Gas Tax Fix, Calls Is a "Psychological
Boost." On "Your World with Neil Cavuto," Senator McCain was questioned about
the spiking price of oil and his gas tax plan, which has been criticized for
its efficacy, and was asked whether or not he was concerned that the price of
gas would spike back up to the amount of the tax. McCain said he was "very
concerned" about it, but that "psychologically - and a lot of our problems
today, as you know," he continued, "are psychological." McCain said that
"it's not a huge amount of money" and called his plan, "a little psychological
boost." In a speech days earlier Senator McCain had called his plan to
temporarily suspend federal gas taxes "an immediate economic stimulus." [Your
    World with Neil Cavuto, 4/16/08]

John McCain has ramped up his fake-populist rhetoric recently, saying that
helping the people who are struggling to pay their mortgages, fill their gas
tanks, and put food on the table will be his "first priority in setting the
economic policies of this nation." [johnmccain.com, accessed 4/17/08]

Yet at the same time, McCain has said that some of the problems families are
facing are "psychological." In fact, according to McCain himself, his
proposal to suspend the gas tax this summer--one of the main focal points of
his new economic plan--is nothing more than "a little psychological boost."
[CNN Debate, 1/30/08; Your World with Neil Cavuto, 4/16/08]

How can McCain possibly help the hard-working families struggling to make ends
meet when he thinks their problems are just "psychological"?

    Remember:
The media is only as liberal as the giant corporations that own it.
