Every time I read stories like this, I can't help but imagine how far 1.1 million would go toward community activities for American kids, or how far it would go towards a school here. I'm saddened that America is crumbling while we shovel money into silly things like opening swimming pools for foreign countries.

Just think, we're eventually going to wind up wasting about 2-4 TRILLION dollars in Iraq before we're even remotely close to being ready to leave....just imagine what that money could've gone towards in the US.

What about the girls? Your telling me some of this money couldn't have been spent on opening a pool just for women and girls.....this is frustrating, not only because it's unfair because it's our money doing this, AMERICAN money. I thought the Iraqis had plenty of oil money coming in, so why isn't the Iraq government giving some of it to our military to build good works projects?

Why are our tax dollars supporting this when only male Iraqis are allowed in the pools? I understand it may be their culture. So tell us, what is the CERP funds doing for female Iraqis?
