I actually did pay attention to what the nations were wearing. I didn't see anything racist about what the US Olympians wore but I did find their clothes to look preppy-like. I thought Canada's gear was just hideous, no offense to Canadians. I don't remember the French or the Russians. All the gear being worn during the actual events seem to be very nicely designed though, for all the countries and events I've watched.

The writer's comments about the French outfits contradict his comments about the US uniforms. The French uniforms reflect what he calls a "national aesthetic." The US uniforms, although (in so many words) they reflect a national aesthetic, somehow aren't acceptable to the writer. I went and looked at the French uniforms and noticed they were exclusionary of the considerable number of French Muslims. Muslim influence was just completely ignored.

Racist? How does Ralph Lauren clothing represent a racist set of ideals? Mr Reddy does not have a clue as to the definition of racism. Racism is the belief that one race is inherently superior to others. This is not readily apprent in the wearing of polo shirts and chinos. Why does Newsweek let this drivel get published?

The degree of self-hate suggested here is simply impossible for me to comprehend. That???s why I find it impossible to take people like this seriously, and have to assume that there???s an alternative political agenda behind screeds like this. It can???t possibly just be that the author realizes that he has little of substance to offer the real world, and so he has to pretend that drivel best suited for brainless reality television is in fact politically relevant.

Hey, I pushed for red, white, and blue jumpsuits with a hammer and sickle on the front, and a picture of Che on the back. They would all wear African-American headpieces. The United States will fall from superpower status in the next 40 years if not sooner, and it has everything to do with the "multicultural social fabric". The only European country that looks like it has a future right now is Russia. But don't fret - just embrace the "change". Before you know it white people will be huddled up inside their walled communities, just like South Africa and Zimbabwe, and the ones who aren't will be eaten away at the margins. We'll be just another failed multicultural experiment, like every empire that attempted it before. But nevermind that. Lets not let simple things like end results deter white haters ( like this author ) from their vision. To their mind, whatever is destroying the USA today is not a consequence of the changes they've introduced. Their prescription, their "fix" is for exactly more of it. Well guess what.
