i have read your work before... i love the way you mocked those people who cant spell, or at least have the common sense of using a thesaurus. I love crocs, my kids wear them, the shoes are ugly but they are very comfortable??? I also think a lot of people do not get the principle of journalism... expressing ones view.. please keep writing, you are awesome...

Very, very funny. Next topic, Vera Bradley bags. You may have to leave the country.

Very, very funny! Thanks for giving me a good laugh this morning. I must be a total loser, because my kids wear the "fake crocs". I absolutely refuse to spend $30 on plastic shoes! People need to get a life. I have your next subject, Vera Bradley bags. You may have to leave the country.

I read the first article as well as this one, and although I have a four year old purple-croc-wearing-lunatic, both articles made me laugh. Have people never heard if satire?

I consider myself a very conservative mom, I can't for the life of me understand the readers saying you were "Un-American". And as far as teaching your kids to poke fun at others...my 4 year old called a guy that we saw riding his bike with no shirt and no bike helmet on "a knucklehead" ...and quite frankly, he probably was!

I look forward to reading light hearted articles once in awhile, who knows maybe I will look up some more of the journalists archives. Bravo!

Love it! My kids wear them, but I personally hate them. I feel that they are cute for kids, but adults look stupid in them. I loved your first article, and told everyone I knew about it! In fact, it was a discussion at dinner that night! All the people that hated your article need to get off of their high horse! It wasn't like you were talking smack about something serious, you were talking about shoes!! Geesh!
I can't wait to read more! Oh, and most importantly, thanks for the laugh!

This country needs more people like you, people that are able to criticize and not hide behind hypocrisy. Also, people that are open-eyed and can see how awful those "shoes" are.

Don't worry about what others have to say. They ARE totally ugly and only in america could they sell. No one else would want to be seen in such utter nonsense.

I don't have as much of a problem with women wearing them, even though they are ugly, but any man caught wearing a pair should be made to hand in his "Man" card immediately! What a worthless piece of footwear. It really annoys me when your on a plane sitting beside one of these dorks, and they think they need to take them off to let their feet breathe, or feel the need to cross their legs so that now their stinky crocs are right there in your face or rubbing against your legs. Yuch! Kudos to the original article.

Steve, I have'nt read ur story yet, but I'm sure we agree on crocs. I think they look like gardening shoes, and therefore should be worn only when gardening. I can almost tolerate a female wearing them out in public. Mainly because women can get away with stuff like that. However, I crinch when I see a man wearing them. It's even worse when you see an entire family of croc wearers(with socks pulled up to their calves) out and about.

Anytime you can find something in this world that makes you laugh like these commmentaries did me, it is a good thing! I couldn't agree with you more on the subject. I have wondered at the mentality of people who wear these gosh awful things on their feet ever since crocs have come out. You have done a service by putting into words what sane people have thought for a long time. Thank you.

This was better than your original essay! Thanks, I needed this laugh, too.

Love it! Absolutely love it! I read the original article (at work) laughing the entire time because my mom is one of the nurses you spoke of! lmao! For the life of me I can not understand why people take themselves so seriously. At least there are a few of us that can still laugh at ourselves! Any of you want to have a drink? lol I love the way you call out the "idiots." I look forward to reading more of your stuff! By the way, keep teaching your son to have a light heart. He'll be a better person for it!

I love it! Aboslutely love it! I read the original article (at work) and laughed the entire time because my mom is one of those nurses you spoke of. She's really miffed right now because she needs a pair of white ones with no holes in them! (I know they exist because she has black ones with no holes in the top. lmao!) And I'm reading this one while sitting at my desk as well, once again laughing my ass off. For the life of me I can't understand why people take themselves so seriously. At least there are still a few of us out here that aren't afraid to laugh at ourselves. Any of you want to get together for a drink? I love how you call out the "idiots." That's the best! I look forward to reading more from you. By the way, keep teaching your son to have a light heart. He'll be a better person for it!

He forgot to add that Crocs make your feet stink. They are unsanitary-even though the company touts otherwise. Athletes foot, and other foot rots can occur with feet being enclosed in rubber. Oh well. I enjoyed both articles. I totally agree-even though my son has imitation crocs. I know if I wanted to wear rubber buckets on my feet, I would go to walmart and buy a bucket. At least I could use them for mopping later.

  • Posted By: mathmaniac @ 08/21/2008 7:10:32 AM

You might actually be a loser based on the fact that you devote so much time to writing about Crocs and your dislike for them. They are shoes for crying out loud. I'm pretty sure you need a life.

  • Posted By: stop_the_insanity @ 08/21/2008 7:10:19 AM

I think this article is hilarious. I can't help it, I still think you shouldn't have your son poking fun at other people. There's enough idiots ruining other's self esteem already. But over Crocs? Sheesh....I laugh as I sit here in my Crocs, drinking coffee and typing. Unfortunately, I will soon have to trade my comfy alligators for some stuffy shoes and socks and get to work. (Yes, I was one who commented on MY TIME, not my boss's. Proud of me? I'm old school. Work is for work). Have a great day!

I think crocs are down-right awkward. I fully support, and agree with you on this. People who wear crocs, make me confused. My friend told me to try hers on and stupidly I did. They feel disgusting on your feet, to me, it felt like that Noise Putty stuff, slimy and gross.

I think the multi-colored ones are twice as bad as the single neon colored rubber shoes.

You are awesome! My boyfriend and I loved your article. We hate Crocs and the people who wear them!
