John Adler, you are a twerp! Who cares how many homes the McCains have! We know that they are rich. Now, Obama and his people to talk about homes, brings back his sweet deal that I got for his million dollar home with the help of his Chicago buddy Resko, who is a criminal. Shut the you know what up you little twerp and just report the news.

      Who is John Adler?

      • Posted By: star3 @ 08/23/2008 4:40:12 PM

No! No! I'm wrong...John Alden married Pricilla Mullins, Pocahontas saved Capt. John Smith. Darn, I need to go back to history lessons!

Didn't he marry Pocahontas?----No, wait---that was John Alden (blush...)

You are a dolt, Rezko did not help Obama get his house. Obama bought the land adjacent to his house from Rezko's wife and paid over market value for it.

      • Posted By: News and Notes @ 08/22/2008 9:32:41 AM

The seller was unwilling to sell the house separately from the land, so Mrs. Rezko stepped in and bought the land. Whether that is considered help or not is subject to interpretation, but it appears Obama could not have bought the house if Mrs. Rezko had not intervened. As far as VP is concerned, for me it is Hillary

Nothing sleazy or criminal was done by the Obamas in the purchae of their home. Refresh us on the details of the Clintons and Whitewater.

        • Posted By: Not4BO @ 08/22/2008 10:07:47 AM

Obama bought his house for under-makret value because Rezko paid full price for the lot next door - simultaneous with Obama's purchase. Later, Obama bought a portion of the lot owned by Rezko. It was a deal made by Rezko and Obama together - plain and simple.

    • Posted By: minnie08 @ 08/23/2008 4:39:26 AM

The point to the number of houses is that McCain has been trying to depict Obama as an "Elitist". Obama who did not come from a wealthy family, has worked hard to get to get to where he is today. McCain has (7) houses plus his wife has additional properties in her familiy's trust.

McCain is a rendition of BUSH!! If you vote for McCain, you will be making a Grave mistake. McCain is bluffing his way through this election. McCain is NOT Qualified and just because he was a POW, doesn't qualify him to be President. McCain can;t even keep the facts straight about Iran, Afganistan, Admitted to knowing little to nothing about Economics, and he's running for President. McCain is a JOKIE! We need a Democrat in the White House and Obama + Biden will move this country forward with new jobs, and put the USA where we once were, and that was at the Top. GO OBAMA!!! GO BIDEN!!!
I bet the McCain Camp is worried now that Biden is on board. Biden won't take any of their Crap!!!,

Hey! Lets not knock the junk food; if it wasn't for fast food my family would starve with my schedule! Why, just this morning, I fought my way through traffic to get breakfast at Micky D's, only to learn from some young, ponytailed, gum snapping tennybopper, that they were "now serving lunch." So, I went home and had a nice healthy granola bar and a donut.

        • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 08/23/2008 3:48:02 PM

Is that what's going on in the junk food isles? Lol!

    Lets See Barack Obama,

A Man who also Believes he and His Wife, should be TAXED at a HIGHER Tax Rate, Based on Their Propsective Incomes, which EXCEED 250,000 Per Year and Rightly so.

Omaar, "Read my lips"---no matter how lovely a picture you try to paint of Obama, it won't change our mind. And if you want us to turn against McCain, then you had better think of better reasons that those; let us know if you find out anything worth raising our eyebrows up into our hairlines for---such as he was the Zidiac killer back in the 70s or he is Jack the Ripper re-incarnated. But you can forget these little pansy reasons you give for us changing to Obama, weak, Omaar, weak, oh, and by the way, guess you just "forgot" to mention any blimishes on Obama's record, such as not saluting the flag or singing national athem along with everyone else at a function, and his record in the senate of replying "present" instead of voting on an issue. Yeah, have to give you credit for doing a fair polishing job on Obama's halo, but its still tarnished in a few places you couldn't quote reach.

      • Posted By: Twhit1007 @ 08/23/2008 4:52:55 AM

Roboplicans can't change. I find it quite appropriate that you start off with the line "Read my lips", you know the qoute from Papa Bush about no new taxes....yeah, that was a lie. This whole anti-patriotic smear tactic by the right would make me laugh if it weren't so sad that it gets eaten up like candy.
McCain would keep our troops in Iraq and maybe add another surge or two. Meanwhile Bin Laden roams free between Afghanistan and Pakistan, the Iranians secretly stoke the fire, and other more powerful nations that pose a much greater threat do as they please (ahem Russia). Obama was right about Iraq and he is right about focusing our troop levels in Afghanistan and hitting within Pakistan if needed. Our enemy was Al Qaeda, and because of the idiot that you people voted for twice, now we have many many enemies and allies that could care less anymore. We are stretched thin militarily, and to maintain our present course is a most unpatriotic tactic. A simple aggresive act, lets say Iran or Pakistan launching short range nuclear weapons at our troops in Iraq and we would be undone. You know Iran, the same country that McCain was singing about bombing. Iranians will be most pleased when we elect the man who said it was a good thing that cigarette imports were increasing in their country so that more of them would die off. This is the man you need a reason to vote against?!?!? We need someone who actually understands the problem at hand. Obama and Biden do. John McCain doesn't. Plain and simple.
Maybe you just don't understand the bigger picture or maybe you just can't admit that you've made a big mistake. I can't begin to understand the mind of a Republican. You are right we won't change your mind, but we will still pity it.

        • Posted By: star3 @ 08/23/2008 4:09:39 PM

Twhit, that line "Read my lips" was a deliberate; I knew someone would pounce on it. lol, I think we all need to just lighten up and accept that we are not going to change anyone's mind here; its great to be able to discuss and exchange view points, but don't argue, instead, present your views in a mature, direct way, and allow others to do the same, then we decide what makes sense to us, and what sounds like rubbish, and make our decision about who we will vote for based on who we feel is the most believable. You can't really argue with feelings; feelings, right or wrong are personal and what one feels is what they feel, regardless of wheather you agree or not, and you won't change them by making snide remarks, that only serves to strengthen the person's feelings, and they will close their mind to anything else you say.

Slaughtering thousands of innocent people in a sovereign nation, cheating on his recuperating first wife, it's called adultory, flip-flopping on almost everything, not knowing the borders between Pakistan and Iraq, not knowing how many houses he owns, nor what kind of car he drives, crashing five airplanes, flying in a land he was told not to fly in, Keating Five recipient, and a lot more reasons. The problem is that the Repub's would vote for Satan to stay in power.,

        • Posted By: Smart Democrat @ 08/23/2008 8:12:24 AM

Tony Rezco, Bill Ayers, Rev Wright. Voting against a bill that would allow babies born alive after a late term abortion. to receive medical care. Those are a few good reasons to not vote for Obama. Lack of experience is another one. Even Biden made the statement that the presidency is not the place to get on the job training. I can't wait till the repubs play a tape with that comment on it. Obama is going to be history in November!

        • Posted By: star3 @ 08/23/2008 12:47:24 AM

Yawnnnn...the first accusation is strickly personal opinion, and we know how much those count; second reason you give is, also, a personal one---between him & his then wife, not for public display, since he was not running for president then, and none of us know what their private marital problems were---unless you want to get into the very public affair that a president did have while in office. As for the borders of Iraq & Pakistan, I'll bet not too many people know without looking at a world atlas. How many houses he has, ect, ect.---who gives a rat's fat butt? His car? He probably seldom drives himself anywhere, so why would he need to know that? Sorry about the plane crashes, but as long as he doesn't crash the country, we'll be fine. We would vote for Satan, you say?? LOL---Think not--he's already running on the DIMocratic ticket. Sorry, honey, but you left yourself wide open for that one! LOL

      • Posted By: Twhit1007 @ 08/23/2008 5:07:20 AM

One other thing. The "present" votes were while he was in the Illinois senate. They were mostly votes on Anti-abortion legislation that was being used as a political tactic by the state's republicans to use against their democratic rivals come re-election. The present votes were a tactic agreed upon by many of the Illinois democrats and Planned Parenthood to defeat the bills (Yea notes were needed to pass the laws). It was a rather brilliant tactic on their part because they could still defeat the bills without having their votes used against them politically during re-election. On the spectrum of "dirty legislative tactics" this definately falls on the mild side. A dirtier tactic would be to re-write legislation the night before a vote... I think that is officially called a "Cheney".

Joe Biden,s political star may have risen because of the crisis in Georgia but what usefull advice is he going to give the Obama camp. Is he willing to admit that the Georgia crisis came about because of the misguides rush to bring Georgia into NATO. and not because it embraced democracy. If we missrepresent the cause of any problem , can we find the solution to the problem. Georgia is a free nation and can choose it's own path but why be a threat to your neighbour, do you think the Russians are fools. All nations like all animals have a security zone , which when breached will react to neutralise the threat, This is what Russia did it reacted to a potential threat. Can Joe Biden and Barack Obama tell this truth to the American public and be elected The American public need to realise that " The Monroe Doctrine " that seeks to minimise threats to America by foreign powers, also apply to the welfare of other nations.

I think it would be very crappy to cut into the Olympics to redirect the spotlight on Obama. Geeze, these Olympians work their a$$es off for 4 years to have maybe the only chance in their lifetime to medal and I don't care if it is a less popular event---it would be just plain WRONG to divert attention away from the Olympics for the VP announcement. Dare I say...it would be UNAMERICAN to do so. Pick a time when the Olympic coverage is not on to make the announcement!

    • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 08/23/2008 2:40:22 PM

Millions of Americans are as interested in who the next President and Vice-President of the USA will be as in watching the Olympics. "Very crappy?" " UNAMERICAN?" Are you one of the dopes who complained that announcing Ronald Reagan's attempted assassination cut in on the soaps?

    • Posted By: raddave @ 08/22/2008 5:32:22 AM

How on earth would it be UNAMERICAN to announce the VP candidate during the olympics. Would you criticize McCain if he announced his VP during the Democratic Convention to try to diverte attention from it?

    • Posted By: Thype1er @ 08/21/2008 5:20:29 PM

      That's politics, my friend.

You can try to hold Obama to a different standard all you want, the simple fact is if he doesn't take the spotlight, McCain will. At the end of the day it's the 'people' and the media that decide what gets covered and when. We can't criticize a candidate, be it McCain or Obama, if we are sitting here posting about the very stories we profess to dislike during the Olympics.

I agree with your overall point though, I do think it would be nice if we got a break from this stuff, but then again it's up to us to put a stop to it.

      • Posted By: SDLinn @ 08/22/2008 4:17:44 AM

Agh, no offense, but please don't call anyone "my friend." That phrase is beginning to sound like nails scraping on a blackboard to me, and the thought of having to hear McSame say it for years is too much to bear!

  • Posted By: Bill Thaxton @ 08/21/2008 6:35:56 PM

I agree with you, Jonathan. Joe Biden is the perfect VP running mate for Obama. He is a glib talker who is able to say the right thing, even if it's abrupt and sometimes crass. I have always liked hearing Biden speak about his opinion on issues. He will generally offset any weaknesses Obmaba has or is perceived to have. Go Obama/Biden 08.

    • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 08/23/2008 1:57:02 PM

No surprise that you won't 'support' Sen. Obama but who cares?
You've posted months ago that you don't want medicare and cited what you say is inferior health care in England and Canada. It's obvious that you know nothing about the quality of health care in either of those countries.

Your self-description is as follows: 'I'm an RN - a nurse saving lives - between codes you get to wipe a lot of butts - work two jobs - can't earn anywhere near $100,000."
      .
Listen up, national enquirer junkie: Care aides wipe butts, not RNs. RNs are well paid and do not have to work two jobs for low wages.

BUT, it is doctors and nurses who perform partial birth abortions, a barbaric vile procedure that's been carried on across the ing carreid on accgoing on across the USA for years.

You can't hang that on Sen. Obama.

Biden, on a post-debate appearance on MSNBC, October 30, 2007: "The only guy on the other side who's qualified is John McCain."

Biden appearing on The Daily Show, August 2, 2005: "John McCain is a personal friend, a great friend, and I would be honored to run with or against John McCain, because I think the country would be better off, be well off no matter who..."

On Meet the Press, November 27, 2005: "I've been calling for more troops for over two years, along with John McCain and others subsequent to my saying that."

  • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 08/23/2008 1:45:20 PM

Assessing Obama's Iraq plan on September 13, 2007: "My impression is [Obama] thinks that if we leave, somehow the Iraqis are going to have an epiphany" of peaceful coexistence among warring sects. "I've seen zero evidence of that."

Around that time, Biden in an interview with the Huffington Post, he assessed Obama and Hillary Clinton: "The more people learn about them (Obama and Hillary) and how they handle the pressure, the more their support will evaporate."

December 11, 2007: "If Iowans believe campaign funds and celebrity will fix the debacle in Iraq, put the economy on track, and provide health care and education for America???s children, they should support another candidate [Obama],"said Biden for President Campaign Manager Luis Navarro. "But I???m confident that Iowans know what I know: our problems will require experience and leadership from Day One. Empty slogans [Change we can believe in] will be no match for proven action on caucus night."
Also that night, Biden said in a campaign ad, "When this campaign is over, political slogans like 'change' will mean absolutely nothing. The next president has to act."

September 26, 2007: Biden for President Campaign Manager Luis Navarro said, "Sen. Obama said he would do everything possible to end the war in Iraq and emphasized the need for a political solution yet he failed to show up to vote for Sen. Biden's critical amendment to provide a political solution in Iraq."

On Aug. 1, 2007, when Obama unveiled his counterterrorism agenda, the Biden camp fired off a snarky email congratulating him for his "Johnny-come-lately position" on Afghanistan, noting that during two Foreign Relations Committee hearings on Afghanistan and other subjects, Obama didn't ask questions about the Taliban, Al Qaeda, or Afghanistan.
"We find it a little disingenuous that Sen. Obama is hailing this as a new bold initiative when he has neglected to join his colleagues in the Senate when the opportunities have been there to redirect our forces into Afghanistan" Biden campaign manager Luis Navarro said at the time. "It's good to see Sen. Obama has finally arrived at the right position, but this can hardly be considered bold leadership."

Biden on Obama war funding vote: "I am not going to fail to protect these kids as long as we have a single, solitary troop in Iraq," said Biden during a Sept. 9, 2007 appearance on "Meet the Press."
"This isn't cutting off the war," he added. "This is cutting off support that will save the lives of thousands of American troops." (H.R. 2206)

Biden on Obama: "I mean, you got the first sorta mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice looking guy."

Obama: "The real gamble in this election is playing the same Washington game with the same Washington players and expecting a different result."

  • Posted By: Robinette03va @ 08/23/2008 1:32:18 PM

Joseph Robinette Biden needs to remind the people of Virginia and areas in the Appalachians that he carries the Robinette name. This will help deliver votes to give the democrats the state of Virginia and other areas that have a large population with Robinette roots such as Pennsylvania.

An Obama-Biden ticket is a dream for me. I have been an admirer of Biden's since his first election. He handled himself well following the tragedy of losing his wife and daughter. He has served the people of Delaware proudly and still is very popular. The people of Delaware know that they can count on him and that he really cares about them.
I will definitely vote Democratic. If McCain gets elected, I am considering moving to Europe. I can not handle four more years of the same old, same old.

USSAllen: Serve and not hide behind words? Like the Great Communicator Ronald Reagan who "served" making movies? Words were fine enough for the right wingers when he spoke them but not so fine when spoken by one of the most intelligent men to ever run for the office. Wonder why? Further, I repeat what everyone should know: that being a POW - or ANY military service - does not, on its own merit, qualify a person to be Commander in Chief. That's all McCain is running on. He's runnin' on empty.

man, if ignorance was energy, we'd be independent of foreign oil for sure!

reagan served 8 years as governor of california...which has the budget of some smaller countries. obama has been a senator for barely 3 years, and has "served" by campaigning for most of that time.

      there is ZERO comparison

      • Posted By: RLW0311 @ 08/23/2008 10:38:43 AM

i think this is an absolutely valid comparision...the biggest knock on Obama is that he doesn't have the foreign policy experience and won't be able to deal with growing threats abroad. Reagan had zero foreign policy experience and is considered by many to be one of our greatest President's in that very area. Experience is not always a good thing, especially seeing how one of the most experienced cabinets in recent memory (Cheney, Rumsfeld, Ashcroft, etc) completely bungled our foreign policy and completely eroded our country's moral authority abroad, which has always been our strongest asset.
