Given the current international situation with Russia in Georgia, us in Iraq and Afghanistan, and China everywhere, the VP nominee isn't the important one.

My gut feel is that while I like Biden I think Obama just gave the election away. I think if he would have chosen Hillary he couldn't have been stopped

I like Joe Biden - I just don't understand how Obama can keep getting away with his constant flip-flop. He has preached endlessly that he isn't bringing the "old Washington" to the American public -he is the agent of change - we have been getting it wrong for many many elections - we need to elect Obama so he can bring fresh new ideas to this country. If that's true, then why Biden. There isn't much older Washington than Joe Biden. I can't trust Obama no matter who he picks - he's dishonest and disingenuous.

Not4BO: Of all the long-time Washing hands, I would count Joe Biden as the least Washingtin establishment one among them. He has a reputation of not playing ball, and not drinking the koolaid. He has his convictions, which are strong, and he sticks by them, which has cost him. He waers his principles on his sleeve and is about as real as it gets. He just tells it like it is, and lets the chips fall where they fall. He took Obama to task a couple of times, and it is that kind of characher that drew Obama to him as the veep choice; someone who will tell him what he needs to hear, not someone who will tell him what he wants to hear. Overall, I think Biden is a good choice.

Bluesage: What a terrible comment to make. You have no idea exactly what McCain went through while a POW, much less what all he went through himself. I imagine a lot of people were broken during captivity. Until you have walked in someone's shoes, just shut up about what you think he did or did not do. I read his biography. He did not lie about it or try to hide it. Were you a POW or have you ever served your country in the manner veterans of Vietnam or WWII did? You can always tell a Democrat...they look for any little morsel to smear around. I find McCain to be an outstanding man who has served his country honorably and consistently. In my opinion, all people should serve their country and not hide behind words.

USSAllen: I am a Vietnam vet. I served my country in combat. I know lots of veterans from that war who would NOT make good Presidents. I also know lots of veterans from that war who WOULD make good Presidents. And I have to tell you - being a POW does not in any way, shape or form enter into that description. Being a POW does NOT, in any manner what-so-ever, qualify anyone to be President. ESPECIALLY!!! John McCain. I respected the John McCain of 2000 and 2004. I literally loath the John McCain of 2008. I would gladly have voted for the John McCain of 2000 or 2004. But the John McCain of 2008 is nothing but a pig with lipstick on - still a pig. As soon as he turned his life over to the Karl Rove dirt machine I lost every vestage of respect I ever had foir the man. He is a Bennadict Arnold to the principles I thought he had. He sold them all to the right wing dirt machine for the sole purpose of maybe becoming President. He disgusts me!

Great choice...I hope Biden goes after McCain and his VP (Romney?) and punches right in the mouth(metaphorically of course). I was worried that Obama wouldn't be able to take the gloves off and get dirty. Now that Biden is on board however, I feel that we can destroy McCain if he plans to keep playing a dirty campaign!

I have been a staunch advocate for Obama from the moment he stepped onto the platform. I know little of Biden and will have to do some deep research to gather facts or rather sift facts from fiction in the media. i am somewhat disappointed that he did not choose Hillary as his running mate as I am sure that would have confirmed his presidential bid. Time will tell. I am not comfortable with the fact he was part of the administration under Bush.

Biden would be great in the role. However, once the public got to know him they'd wonder why he isn't heading the ticket. Bad for Obama. I'd reserve Joe for Secretary of State where he could really shine. Give the VP role to Hillary and make the old ladies like me happy. Or opt for Chris Dodd who has gravitas, service on the Senate Banking Committee so he's good on the economy, has two young children so he and his young wife would look great in photo ops with the Obama family, and he'd also make a great attack dog. And don't forget that he speaks Spanish fluently and is Irish Catholic like Biden so he'd also pull in those blue collar guy and gals.

Ummm, it's actually illegal to wear a flag pin and it's more insulting to wear a flag pin made in China. As far as congress is concerned, since the Democrats took a very slim majority, they have faced more fillibusters and obstructionist votes than any other congress in history.
With regards to worsening terrorist attacks, the only successful attack on US soil was done with the shrub in the Oval Office (despite the Clinton administration telling him that Osama was planning on attacking! Must have been that reading issue shrub has). Of course shrub responded when told the nation was under attack by doing exactly - NOTHING! He stared into the cameras because Darth Cheney wasn't there to tell him what to say. When he did finally say something, he got into his plane and ran around the country like a scared little child when he should have been at the White House, defending our nation. I guess we shouldn't been surprised by this response from a military deserter.
So if you think the last 8 years have been bad, just wait until you get more of the same from senile old McIdiot. If you don't think the last 8 years have been horrible, then you are obviously deluded or in the top 1% - who love the repigs and thrive on raping the middle class and the poor.-

This is America, you can't make it illegal to wear a flag pin, and if thats the case, i will wear all of mine on full display! We fly our flag proudly, and still say the pledge of allegiance with "One nation under God", we still say Merry CHRISTMAS--not seasons greetings, unless we want to, and We'll be dammed if we'll push 1 for English! They conform to US, we do NOT conform to them! That said, now I dare the "politically correct" police to challenge me on this.

Joe, while I can relate to your distress, may I say, that unless we elect Jesus Christ, we are never going to get a perfect president, and last I heard, he was not on the ballot. So, we go with what we are offered, and hope for the best; ALL politicians are going to say what they think the public wants to hear, and sometimes. we are lucky and, actually, get one that really feels and believes what he says. They, no doubt, try to keep the promises they made, but we can't know what is going to happen at any given time, attacks from outside are unforeseen, but often suspected, so we can't afford to assume anything. Yes, we depend on our leaders to be made aware of potential dangers, and to make the best decisions for all of us concerning that danger, but we're talking humans here, and you have to admit, none of us can make a decision based on what may or may not happpen at some point later on in time; we have to work with the info we have in the present. It called cause & effect: we make a decision based on what we know now, then when something happens later that renders that decision invalid, we either do what we can to correct it, or we reap the effect that it caused. Hope I wasn't too confusing in that response; sometimes, i confuse myself and wonder "Where was i going with this? It started out making sense." Anyway, we can only work with what we've got.

Actually, Republicans are very loyal...that is why McCain stands a chance...think about it, with the current office being held by a Republican team that is incredibly disfavored, this should translate to a double digit lead for the Democratic nominee...instead of yelling at people, you should worry about why there is weakness on both sides that is make this a neck in neck race and then work on sensibly discussing issues with the people on the fence, not treating them like idiots for not having the same click and spin commentaries.
