WHAT DOES OBAMA BRING TO OUR COUNTRY? I am SICK of Black Americans justifying their hatred and racism of Caucasion Americans. Genealogy is my hobby, and I do take it seriously. My ancestors HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH SLAVERY! It took years, and I mean years of research, for me to confirm this............My family however lost 2 ggggrandfathers and 7 gguncles who FOUGHT FOR THE UNION, AND RIGHTS/FREEDOM OF SLAVES, during the "Civil War."...............I have yet to hear a single Black American THANK MY FAMILY or any other WHITE AMERICAN FAMILY, FOR THE SERVICE OF THE MEN FORGOTTEN BY BLACK AMERICANS, OR CARE ABOUT THE LOSS OF THESE BRAVE WHITE MEN WHO FOUGHT THOSE WHO WANTED SLAVERY TO CONTINUE.............................................Our family has compiled historical records/letters/documents which prove the "widows" lived in absolute poverty without their husbands who were obviously DEAD and unable to return to the farms. ..................................WHERE IS THE "THANK YOU" FOR THAT FROM BLACK AMERICANS????Did Biden's Family/Ancestors OWN SLAVES???....Just tell me that. For those who support Obama. Here's a little bit "back at cha'." Have you looked at Biden's genealogy? Were his ancestors slave holders? Would it make a difference? No, as long as Obama says it's ok.

Obama did good! Biden is an outstanding choice.

As for the Hilary whiners..... Please go away. Go vote for McCain or whoever you want. Your whining and crying is getting old. If you put your own personal grievance against the good of this country then that's on your conscience. And if McCain wins - you can pat yourselves on the back while suffering under more Bush policies.

Idiot. If McCain wins it's because the Democrats have shot themselves in the foot once again. We lost 2000, 2004 and now we will lose 2008 because the Democrats are out of touch and the Republicans are good at catching a fumble. Obama is a nice man, but not ready and Biden is a whiner. The DNC needs to get rid of that other academic jerk, Howard Dean.

what is wrong with you people!! Why don't you just say that you can not vote for a person of color and forget all the other things. McCain is Bush all over again. Look at what is happening right not due to his lack of oversight. We are losing our homes, a war that never should have started in the first place, and instead of being able or willing to look beyond the skin color, you would see that Obama/Biden ticket has something for everyone

          PASSION21:

"instead of being able or willing to look beyond the skin color"

get over it already. whether he wins or loses it won't be because of skin color. But as long as you keep mentioning it: Would a woman of any color with barry's resume be where he is? Absolutely not.

What this country needs is to STOP SPENDING and START LOOKING AT THE SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE ISSUES before they no longer exist. Neither candidate has really addressed this issue. We as American citizens must force both candidates to formulate a plan for these two essential programs and make our decision in part anyway on what action they plan to pursue and how they will go about it and how it will be paid for before it is too late . Just voting for CHANGE is not enough--we deserve to know WHAT AND HOW this change will come about and how these changes will be paid for. We must pay down our National Debt before it is too late. What are both candidates plans to do this? We need more facts before we as informed consumers can really decide who will be the best candidate! We will need no WALLS to stop illegal immigrants if we make it impossible for them to find jobs, not be eligible for financial assistance, and not be eligible for any medical care--trust me, they will not want to come to this country illegally!

Always the same American illness: not realizing that we need the world yet firmly believing the world needs us. For all of you living in the bubble, not being subjected to the embarrassment and ridicule by association of the past 8 years under the Crawford village idiot - as in being one of 6 Million US citizens outside the bubble - I can only say: you should be here today, in Germany, in Great Britain, Japan, South Africa, Russia, all of these countries that've known Joe Biden for many years and respect him as a worthy, capable, informed and non-ex cocaine & alcohol junky albeit oh-so-born-again representative of the US people, to hear what is said in the news. Does global unified hallelujah ring a bell ?! Finally gravity, sense and sensitivity re-enter the game. What an embarrassment over the past 8 years to have that incapable clown visit other countries and representing me against my will; to think that half my country consists of limited intellect claqueurs who'd want more of that under McCain; are you all out of your mind ? Obama is good for the planet, all you conservative flat-earthers; don't you get it: we finally count our money at the gas pump, like the rest of the world has done for decades. We've reached normality and there's a lot more coming; next up is waste, waste of everything, our favorite past-time. Obama/Biden will finally return us to respected older brother status, away from junkyard bully status.

A Christian who supports infanticide and a Roman Catholic who doesn't follow the teachings of the Church. Sounds like a great recipe for change to me. At least the war on women is going well.

Women for Hillavy! Hillavy! Hillavy! Think of the Supreme Court and women's issues. McSame and Rommel have already said they will turn the clock back, repeal Roe v Wade and send women as handmaidens back to the kitchen. You go ahead and vote for that because you want HER to have power! How irrational and hymenal can you be? Apparently, blinded by some wierd light a lot!

Edwyre needs to be careful how he insults those who supported Hillary Clinton. I voted for her here in California, where she won. I have been dismayed so far by what I've seen of the Obama campaign: it has lost its energy, drive and (apparently) judgment. I always felt that Senator McCain was one of the very few Republicans I could respect. If Obama supporters like Edwyre keep sending out insults to Democrats like me, there might be worse things, in my judgment, than a President McCain faced by a Congress with a solid Democratic majority. I assume Edwyre doesn't want that. To achieve his objective, he should be more polite to his fellow Democrats.

good point FVBEE. It's clear barry does not care about the Clintons or Sen Clinton supporters. He wants to win the WH without them. What else did his solis-doyle hiring show? And all these crazy barrybots in here still ragging on Clinton supporters. I do believe the DNC/MSM and botlets will get a view of *party unity* real soon.

I am pleased with the choice. I will keep them in my prayers. My advice to Hillary's supporters: swallow your pride! Bow graciously and support Obama-Biden! It is in our best interest we have a democrat president in the White House, regardless of our prejudices and selfish feelings and ambitions. Look at the good of the american people, instead.

      MARIEVOTE08:

"swallow your pride...BOW GRACIOUSLY...regardless of our prejudices and selfish feelings and ambitions"

Are you for real? BOW GRACIOUSLY? are you the same person who said Sen Clinton was denting barry's halo? How are your words helping? When are you going to get it?

McCain Campaign Takes Aim at Obama-Biden
    WashingtonPost.com - The Trail by Michael D. Shear Aug. 23, 2008

SREDONA, Arizona -- Sen. John McCain immediately began using Joe Biden's own words against him early Saturday morning, drawing on the Democratic vice presidential nominee's criticism of Sen. Barack Obama during the Democratic primary.

"There has been no harsher critic of Barack Obama's lack of experience than Joe Biden," said McCain spokesman Ben Porritt. "Biden has denounced Barack Obama's poor foreign policy judgment and has strongly argued in his own words what Americans are quickly realizing -- that Barack Obama is not ready to be President."

Running against Obama for the presidency, Biden said nominating someone without national security credentials would be a "tragic mistake" and said that the presidency "is not something that lends itself to on-the-job-training."

The first volley from McCain's staff arrived at 1:50 a.m. ET, reflecting the new pace of presidential politics in the Internet era. And it foreshadowed what is certain to be a principal line of attack

Obama's selection of Biden, which began leaking out Friday evening, set in motion a new Republican effort aimed at undermining the Democratic ticket even as the pair prepare to make their first public appearance as running mates in Springfield, Ill.

McCain aides are also likely to go after Biden by arguing that he does not represent the fundamental change that Obama has been promising since beginning his presidential run.

Biden, a 36-year veteran of the U.S. Senate, is a creature of Capitol Hill, someone who is steeped in the nuances of the legislature and is part of an institution that regularly gets terrible approval
    ratings by Americans.

Obama has been running against Washington, saying that the people there like McCain are the problem that needs to be fixed. McCain can argue that by choosing Biden, Obama abandons that case.

Gee, what did Romney say about McCain during the primaries?

  • Posted By: Nelsong @ 08/23/2008 1:57:58 PM

We need a Need a PRESIDENT who has long Washington experience and great foreign experience---not a VP with these experiences---KEEP LOOKING! Obama does not meet these requirements.!

  • Posted By: Nelsong @ 08/23/2008 1:54:03 PM

What we really need is not a VP with great foreign experience or great experience in Washington, but a President with that experience--Obama does not meet these requirements himself--keep looking!

a pro-abortion choice. I wonder if Joe wanted to hold his first wife for 45 minutes before she slipped away. It would have come quicker if Maryland had provided the first responders with the Oregon $50 euthanisia voucher.

    HOWARD FINEMAN ARE YOU KIDDING?

    NO OLD WASHINGTON?

    SENIORITY RANKING IN THE SENATE:

    BYRD 1959
    KENNEDY 1962
INOUYE 1963 (in office when Barry Sr abandoned Jr)
    STEVENS 1968
    DOMENICI 1973 (REPUBLICAN)
    BIDEN 1973

Biden, 65, US Sen 35 yrs, ranked 6th
    McCain, 71, US Sen 21 yrs, ranked 24th (1987)

Biden is more OLD WASHINGTON than McCain.

    Or Bush 62 (1996).

    Or Chaney 67 (1975).

Or either of the Clintons. President Bill 62 (1995) & Sen Hillary 60 (2001).

hysterical. bet the PUMAs are loving it. and the barrybotlets haven't a clue. Gotta love it sportsfan.

I was understanding that Obama was for change so he picks a politician that's been wrapped up in politics and BS longer life its self. As far as war records spending time in prison does not make a president.
The hole lot of them need to sit down and think about what this country needs and its not some losy fast talking politician,

    • Posted By: Totto @ 08/23/2008 1:48:01 PM

No, he picked someone highly respected in the Senate, with considerable experience (the thing you right-wingers have been harping about) to move his legislation through Congress.

  • Posted By: kabiey @ 08/23/2008 1:39:46 PM

I am thrilled with this pick! If anything happens to Obama, we have a savvy, experienced VP to step up and lead the country & world with knowledge developed over many years. Our savvy, experienced and knowledgeable VP brings balance to the ticket. I believe Obama is 'spot on' with his judgement calls on foreign policy. It has probably helped him to have been talking to Joe all this time.
