I was very intrigued by Obama's message of change, but as the campaign has worn on, I'm thinking we're (the middle class) still gonna be screwed. Obama's become too much like the politicians he's tried to front like he isn't. After reading a Fareed Zakaria article, I have come to the conclusion that although we definitely need change, perhaps we should make a smoother transition to what we want the change to be. I may switch up and vote McCain, eventhough he's just as bad as what Obama's become.

Well, Obamabots, for the first time in a year I have finally heard somethng about Obama that is POSITIVE: choosing Joe Biden. I hate Obama, but I really LIKE Biden.
Being a die-hard Hillary supporter, I have been leaning toward McCain, but BIDEN offers a CHOICE for me.
Can't believe I'm saying this, but Biden does create alternative thinking.

Yeah Joe adds to the ticket big. The R's are twitching. They will be sharing meds working this out. They may even have to send Craig back in Airport Bathrooms for "outreach."

You do realize McCain will pick a Democrat for his VP right? Talk about crossing party lines.

          Lieberman isn't a Democrat.

We need a change for the last eight disasterous year with Bush/Cheney at the helm!!!! Doesn't anyone get it.Cheney and Bush has put this country in the worst economic state since the Great Depression. Not only have they put us in a war that they wanted ( and nobody else did); but they are trying to destroy the middle class with their tax breaks to the wealthy. I am sick and tired of hearing the % of taxes that the wealthy supposedly pay. I don/t know about you but last year I paid over 60% of my income to federal, state, property, FICA, medicare, sales and oh let's not forget about fees to the government. By the way, I made $70,000 not $300,000. Don't let them fool you they are hitting the middle class much harder than the wealthy. Let's not forget that once you reach the FICA limit your done paying that is not true of those that never make the limit. Obama is change and this country needs CHANGE!!! We need new faces that do not have self gratification written all over them. Politicians have forgotten that they are here to serve their constiuents not themselves. It is time to see this change at all levels. Many politicians are in it for the money and power not to make a difference and improve the lives and values of this country. Obama wants to bring progress and prosperity back to this country. Bush has DESTROYED our worth in the national arena. McCann would just continue the oil barons legend. VOTE FOR CHANGE! VOTE FOR ALL PEOPLE NOT ONLY THOSE WHO HAVE MONEY.

    • Posted By: torcom @ 08/23/2008 12:19:51 PM

Would you prefer the so-called wealthy to pay 100% of the taxes? The so-called wealthy, those that make $100,000 or more, already pay 97% of the federal taxes taken in by the IRS. Cute how you included the state, property, medicare, sales, and fica tax in there. How will the presidential election winner do anything about the taxes you pay on your property? Or the money the state collects. The answer is that it won't. Don't forget that the majority of people in this country pay no income tax, just fica and medicare. So I guess were back to the old steal from peter to pay lazy ass paul. No way. Obama is nothing new. We've seen this losing program before, at least I have. it's name was Jimmy Carter. Think things are bad now, thank your congressman, as they are the ones who control what goes on, not the president. The only prosperity O is interested in is his own. Don't be so shallow as to not understand this.

So, for the man (Obama) who continuously uses the fact that his good judgment , that we should have never gone to War with Iraq, makes him better than most on the Hill, choice a man who voted for the war. Obama has lost the man of hope and change along time ago. Biden's been on the Hill longer than McCain, so he is more of an Washington insider, than McCain. Binden, does at times make outrageous racist remarks, and Obama is masterful on using the race card, so I guess we have the perfect Democratic ticket!

Along with having Jimmy Carter's old team advising him. The change to BACK to the future to Carter's second term.

mackie...iran's missle's can bearly reach Isreal and last week they failed in a test to put a satellite in orbit. America isn't like Russia who sends in troops first. We'd shell and airstrike those guys into the next century if they even tries to launch a missle at Ammerica. Iran is low in third world country that couldn't take on Isreal much less America. So why are you so worried about them?

Can't we just fast-forward this mess to 2012. If we're lucky, Romney will run again. Maybe then those who are religious bigots will be smart enough to accept a leader who has a brain AND morals.

    • Posted By: Jill from Florida @ 08/23/2008 12:15:17 PM

Vote for the candidate who will do the least damage. Split the control of the Houses of Congress and President. God help us when either party has full control of both branches.

  • Posted By: doggie1 @ 08/23/2008 12:13:06 PM

I am to this day still undecided as to who I am going to vote for. Biden for the most part is a very good choice but he is not going to be elected President. After watching the entire campaign fiasco, I do know one thing, anybody can buy the presidency. Why do I say that, all the money that these candidates have spent to get to where they are is truly unbelievable. So much money and we still don't have a great choice of candidates.

Obama wants to RAISE taxes and help the poor and middle class but he has a brother, George who lives on less than $1 dollar a day in a shack in Kenya and he doesn't even help his BROTHER!

Yet he wants US to sacrifice and pay more taxes than we already are (we're paying ENOUGH now!) when he won't even help his brother. At $1 a day Barak could give this guy $1,000 to $5,000 of the $4 MILLION he made last year and it would help him IMMENSELY!

Talk about Greedy folks! You heard it here first unless you also happen to read CNN. Here's the article. Barak Scumbag Obama.

If you had actually read the article, you would have seen that Obama's brother George doesn't want help from his brother. Also, raising taxes is NOT only to help the poor and middle class, it is to pay for your government. Or do you chose to ignore that fact?

  • Posted By: ladalgard @ 08/23/2008 12:10:32 PM

I have been reading though the comments and have some thoughts of my own... First I believe that is an Obama/ Biden presidency is the beginning of the end for us. Obama is a racist for starters and Biden has a big mouth, and Michele Obama has never been proud of this country until her husband started campaigning for president. There is a trio for you. Obama wants to raise your taxes so we can make sure more of us lose our houses. Then he wants to bring the troops home...this way we will have them here when the war comes here.
Here is a man who has sterotyped white women... I was offended by his statement and am sure more than one of you was taken back by some of his racist comments. Someone tell me what a "typical white woman" is, because Obama won't tell me.. I asked. Someone tell me why someone who would want to be our president would take the American flag off of his plane and disrespect our national anthem. How will a woman who has never been proud of this country until her husband ran for the presidentcy, be a good influence for what is right for this country. How can a man who cannot keep his mouth shut be expected to protect national secrets? Everyone wants to Bush bash and that is fine, but what is done is done, we can't undo it, now we have to fix it. How can someone who has no foreigin affairs experience be expected to restore our standing in this world. I personally dont care how many houses McCain has, I am only concerned with keeping mine, and if taxes go up it will make it harder to do that. I cannot fault the man for doing good. We need to get to the issues that concern this country and stop nit-picking about how many houses someone has. They belong to his wife's family anyway.
We need someone who will restore the goodness of this country and I don't know that either is qualified to do that, but for my part the lesser of two evils is McCain. At least he loves this country enough to serve it. My husband and I are both disabled Vets and my son just returned from Afghanistan and is due to leave for Iraq in March. Am I happy about this, no, but I am proud of him and his love for this country. Unfortunatly this country is the one everyone turns to when they need help, and we answer....How can that be wrong? We need someone in office who can answer the call. Obama is not it.

  • Posted By: Sofie @ 08/23/2008 11:33:48 AM

If you vote for Obama at least you will not have to worry about him making decisions by looking in some ones eyes or having gut feelings and going to bed at 9:00Pm and seldom reads a newspaper. Since his present opponent does not know how many homes he has or does not answer questions about the draft or claim that he is weak on economic issures. Do we want another 4 years?

    • Posted By: mdenver @ 08/23/2008 12:03:44 PM

What a lame reason for voting against someone. Get some intelligence on your side. My friend has 7 vacation rental properties that she rents out for her income. That is how she makes her living but she is not "wealthy." Get a grip and face the issues at hand of voting records and what they support. Obama believes in supporting legislation (which he voted for 3 times) that would NOT give finanical aid to allow babies to live that were born out of bothced abortions. But he would give aid to have those abortions. It is documented and a part of his voting record.

Given he has been running for office for the second year of his first US Senate term, there really isn't anything else that points to what he has doen and what he could do.

Change? Oh, please. Big government growing bigger solves no problems. Why, oh why, do Democrats relentessly believe that big government solves social problems? The only thing the government does with reasonable success is raise an army. When they're tasked with other responsibilities, all they do is take tax payer money and essentially squander it. Obama has cast himself solidly in the mold of tax and spend democrats. So much for change.

So, who really increased governement, Reagan, Bushs, look at the numbers, any social program is called waste, but the trillions of dllrs handed out in contracts from de fed gov to few corps is perfectly fine, wake up and look where we were when the the bush II took power and where we are now, whos is better of? his buddies, big oil, halliburton, and how many limbs were lost and lives and who profited from it? Macsht wants to go back to the cold war, he is old, so his ideas, this is a new world, be smart vote Obama

I'll discuss Jeremiah Wright when white voters are willing to discuss John Hagee, Jerry Falwell, Rod Parsley... For those of you who are saying that Obama is Muslim, then you have already discredited your own argument by mentioning that he has attended a Christian Church for 20 years. PS - Wright's church has over 3,000 white members. Get your facts straight before you embarrass yourselves online.

    • Posted By: Braes @ 08/23/2008 8:50:31 AM

Don't, please. Let the rednecks spew all of that, and let it die. Noone is listening to McCain's agents of intolerance. These people are bigots and religous zealots. (I like Rev. Wright. but think the neocon churches are a ticket straight to hell.)

      • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 08/23/2008 9:30:36 AM

Redneck? Hmmm A characteristic only found on white people due to the suns exposure to the back of their necks right? Awe, do we have a dislike for white people? I especially like the part where you accuse others of being bigots LMAO Your a riot, comedian right?

        • Posted By: Braes @ 08/23/2008 9:47:15 AM

No, a white guy who hates rednecks.

          • Posted By: mackie @ 08/23/2008 11:59:51 AM

Then I guess you'll dislike Biden for being a racist redneck? Yes his blatant racist comments will come up again. Did you think we, the good americans, would forget Biden's classic statements about convenience store clerks or the nice tidbit about Obama's inexperience, or the fact that he cheated on his law exam, or the fact that Biden is almost as old as McCain. McCain-Romney is the winning ticket and will change this country for the better. Obama willtax the heck out of everyone, not just the rich. Get a clue folks!

What a kick in the face for Hillary. Obama is a no good, selfish, inconsiderate, (insert your favorite nasty comments). This does little to unite the democratic party, and the people who understand that Clinton would have been a GREAT president are going to vote for McCain. Obama has proven himself once again. Smoke Obama out. It's time for McCain to show the idiot who boss.

Democrats who really care about this country need to move on. .Of course, if you care more about ego, more about an authoritarian THEM VS US mentality the Clintons have perpetuated within the Democratic party, then by all means cast a self-serving revenge vote for McCain.

But I'll bet even the Clintons won't do that..

Anyone who votes for McCain purely based upon Obama's not picking Hillary has just proven that they do not truly care about women's rights. Really, you'd rather have a President who is looking to overturn Roe vs Wade, who left his wife after a disfiguring accident for a hot little 24 year old, and who pokes his own supporters (the Hilton's) in the eye by using their daughter in a smear campaign against Obama. If he wins you'll get what you deserve! I, for one, will be looking to move to Canada.

        • Posted By: Braes @ 08/23/2008 9:38:52 AM

Ma'am that has been a Rove play since McCain won the nomination and then looked up the hill Bush has left him to climb. They have used the Clintons to brick-bat the Democratic party now since 1992. The Clintons are gone. Hillary's debt is going to bury her. If Hillary's supporters wanted to re-ignite her campaign, and get her ready for 4 years hence, they'd be paying down her debt.
Obama has been smart enough to let her deal with that. Why hand ammo to the person who was just shooting you?
Hillary has stated that she is behind the nominee. These alleged Hillary supporters look like a gaggle of GOP wives to me, stirring up stuff on my side of the fence.

Aren???t the Democrats up in arms about oil profits? Aren't the democrats wanting to "Nationalize" the oil industry? Aren't the democrats not able to define profit from profit margin, and convincing their sheeple that the oil companies are bad? Aren???t the oil companies paying more in taxes then over 50% of taxpayers anyhow? Aren't the Democrats going to raise taxes on middle class families to distribute wherever they see fit? Aren???t the democrats storing bribe money in their freezers?

OK. The last one could count for any party, since ALL politicians are corrupt (Name one who isn???t). However the democrats pander to special interest groups in order to destroy capitalism, and give out tax breaks for their support. If the oil companies are nationalized, think about where that money will go. Do you actually believe the price at the pump would go down? Ha. You would be giving money to a corrupt government to waste on Disastrous programs that are already failing. Throwing more money at the same problem is NOT going to solve anything. Obama wants a world poverty tax. We can???t take care of our own people, and he wants more money to go to other corrupt governments to take care of them? What is wrong with you¿ Yes McCain will continue the ???war on terror???, however even if Obama is elected the scheduled withdrawal date is still going to be the same???2011

But hey if you don???t feel like you???re paying enough in taxes why don???t you just give it to the government or charities and leave the rest of us alone. Proven fact Republicans give twice as much to charities then Democrats do. Democrats want to take (by force) your money, and Republicans seem to give to the needy as necessary.

We waste BILLIONS in taxes every year with the same results. We are growing more needy people with the deflating dollar and bridges to nowhere, then ever before. People aren???t driven to be self reliant or even personaly responsible. Do you ever listen to Obamas speeches? He tells you he???s going to take your money and distribute it to others who WILL NOT (not cannot) take responsibility for themselves. If that???s who you want, then by all means go vote for him. I disagree with 30%-40% of McCains policies. But I disagree with Obama 80%-90%.

Why can???t we have a valuable 3rd party? Like the constitution party or the libertarian party? Why does it always have to be Democrat or Republican? I???m voting 3rd party this year (even if I have to write the name in myself), because I???m tired of holding my nose to vote for the lesser of two evils.

    Hey AndrewPandap,

McCain was in the Hanoi Hilton largely due to his incompetence as a pilot.

Maybe you aren't aware that he crashed 5 planes during his relatively short active duty career - 4 of them in accidents that he was responsible for in one way or another and then one he was shot down in.

But then what do you expect from someone who graduated 894th out of 899 students in his USNA class?

I mean, really...even Bush applied himself more than that and he's a freaking moron.

I'm a little tired of McCain and his supporters flaunting his POW past like some sort of badge of honor, especially considering how hard McCain has worked in the senate to close access to documents relating to servicemen who are still MIA.

The families of Vietnam MIAs thought that McCain would be their champion in congress but instead he has become the biggest obstacle roadblock to getting answers or help. They wonder what it is in his own files that he is so worried about people finding out if all those documents become publicly accessible.

There's a reason why there's a large continent of Vietnam vets, my brother included, who are actively campaigning against McCain. They don't trust him.

  • Posted By: ladalgard @ 08/23/2008 11:43:24 AM

Well I have been reading through the comments and here are my thoughts....First we already have a race problem in this country and think it is going to get bigger. Someone tell me what a typical white woman is because I can't get Obama to tell me. This comment offended me greatly. Who cares how many house McCain has, I just want to keep mine. Everyone want to Bush bash but Congress gave him the mandate. My husband and I are both Disabled Vets and my son just got home from Afghanistan. How can I get behind someone who takes our flag off of his plane and can't pay respect to our national anthem. Will Biden help? Who knows... but I don't think so. He has a quick temper and a big mouth. Should be good for our national security.....We wont have any. If you think things are tough now, put Obama/Biden in office so they can bring home the troops, we will need them here when the enemy follows us here. And just one more point...Obama's wife has as much grace and class as a bull in a china shop. I believe that someone who has never been proud of her country until her husband has run for president is not someone we want influencing the president of our great country. We have a lot of problems here folks...don't make them worse by putting Obama /Biden in office.

    • Posted By: Let'sGetReadyToSTOPRumbling @ 08/23/2008 11:53:39 AM

I think that all who read your comments would agree, yes, post-Vietnam War (i.e., Present Day and anytime between), you ARE, in fact, disabled. Dis-able to see past your own "wounds" and racism (Yes, "RACISM") to berate the Obamas (both) and boost the Idiot that is a veteran, JUST BECAUSE he is a veteran (like you, and my father, brothers, etc... sorry, I kept up the homefront throughout the conflicts of my time). You should better focus on the issues and leave little "digs" out of your objectivity. Oh, sorry.... you don't have any.

This has not been a "disgraceful Presidency," that was Bill Clinton. This Presidency has been one of good moves and bad ones; the bad made worse by the stubborn, arrogant refusal to admit a mistake and make adjustments promptly. Electing Obama will not bring positive change. The trade will be cowboy arrogance for Harvard / Elite arrogance. The inexperience factor will be worse and so will the outcome.

    The worst possible choice......
The republicans are going to slaughter them in November. And if nothing has moved forward in the US for the past four plus years it is because we have a DEMOCRATIC legislature in Washington who can't vote a clean law....
Clinton wisely did not want to be considered because it is Obama's reputation and sleezy dealings that will all come to the surface... Their foundation is monitored by legislation AND ALL foundations are examined and looked into with a fine tooth comb by the government..... It this had been a question he would have used it during the primaries... HOW low to continue to attach Hillary Clinton, the foundation does lots of good, Obama and his wife have only taken money from sleezy sources, tripling the salary of her job when he got elected to the illinois legislature..... Blahhh
John McCain for President, a true patriot, a man who has ALWAYS reached across the aisle....

Most Americans of both parties believe that 35 years on Capitol Hill qualify a politician as part of the problem, not the solution. When Joe Biden first took his place in the US Senate, John McCain was in the Hanoi Hilton.
