Sore losers from 2000 and 2004. And, soon, you will be sore losers when McCain gets into the White House.

    • Posted By: mcf304 @ 08/24/2008 12:24:13 AM

Darn right we're sore!! My ever rising tuition and lack of post-college job opportunities in my home state of Michigan makes me sore. And we'll all continue to feel that soreness unless we stand up and stop the reign of corporations and the Republican party! Wake up, man! The Democrats have a progressive plan to fix the myriad of problems in this country, whereas we'll be stuck in the same disaster for another 4 years with the Republicans. I don't even mind McCain. He seems like a cool guy, but with the party in tow, there's no hope for the middle class and down.

      • Posted By: pezzfann @ 08/24/2008 12:31:16 AM

I must argue with you on this one. Alot of the problems you face in your home state of Michigan are brought upon you by your wonderful governor Jennifer Granholm from Canada whom you all seem to keep voting in for some strange reason. Also, by a decision Clinton made while he was in office to let U S companies take their business overseas.

        • Posted By: mcf304 @ 08/24/2008 1:56:32 AM

People in Michigan have been between a rock and a hard place for a while. Granholm was the better alternative and hasn't really been handed a great deck of cards. I am skeptical of her ability to get things done, but Michigan's education system was failing and she was the only hope. I am not convinced anyone else would be doing any worse given the circumstances. NAFTA was horrible for a lot of people around the country. It's one of those policies that looks good for many reasons but screws a lot of people in the end. That's probably a big reason Hillary Clinton lost the nomination. Obama wants to change things for working class and McCain does too, I'm sure, but he doesn't grasp the desperation of the situation like Obama does. Like no politician for a very long time, Mr. Obama is a soldier for the downtrodden.

          • Posted By: RO in Reno @ 08/24/2008 2:53:16 AM

Interesting you mention NAFTA as a reason for Hillary losing the primary, It is one of two reasons I could not support Hillary I give Clinton a lot of credit for 8 years of peace and prosperity, But when Bill Clinton said he would support NAFTA 30 days before he was first elected I knew he had been bought by the Bush machine. Nafta was a Bush invention to move manufacturing to Mexico, Specifically the glass industry, which had been bought and drained of cash until it ceased to exist in the US by Bush and a few cronies.

Texas is the only state in the Union that actually benefits from Nafta in terms of exports,
McCain claimed Nafta created 25 million jobs.... He must have meant in Mexico and Canada or that is one of his gross exaggerations, it is a primary reason for the loss of jobs in the US and will continue to be for a long time to come unless Obama keeps his word on revamping it to make it fair, I hope he does.

Great. I finally found someone who knows something about 'companies being allowed to take jobs overseas' I sincerely want to know about/understand this. Did some govt decision really allow companies to take jobs overseas? You mention a Clinton decision. The company I worked for - mfg selling to retailers - 10 years ago was 80% domestic manufacturing but today is less than 30% - primarily to stay competitive with the retailers we sell to. We don't have the 700 jobs now - but are thankful for the 300 that are left. So how was that a result of Clinton's decision or how is this Bush's fault? Please - educate me?

NEWSWEEK has buried the TONY REZKO story (friend of Obama and convicted felon). They thru it up on their site today and buried it at end of the day. Couldnt find the link to the article so I used Newsweeks search engine which is useless. Then I googled it outside the site and found it. When i pulled up the link, the lead in page shows 3 blogs (the norm) but when I went into the all comments area every blog was wiped out. I dont think that was coincidental.

DOES ANYONE ELSE FEEL LIKE WE ARE LIVING IN THE USSR OR CHINA HERE? The MSM I have lost any respect for. . . they only feed the public what they want them to see and if they are pressed to at least write an article that is controversial about Obama, wham, it is gone within 24 hrs, buried in the site.

ANYWAYS, if anyone wants to read the Who is Tony Rezko article, here is the link that leads to where it is buried somewhere within this site:

I am not an Obama whatever, and there is nothing confusing about what she posted. The point is, nothing is being kept is some deep dark secret vault. This is 2008 where it is pretty hard to hide. By the way, with the way things are reported now, do you JFK would have even become president know he had Addisons disease?

Before you jump up and down with gotcha and blah blah blah, read the above link, then tell me what you think. Everything is in the open. What are you trying to prove, that there is some great conspiracy and coverup? This is not pre-Internet era. Pretty hard to hide things regardless of what side of the spectrum your on. What happened to Sinclair, what happened to Keating 5? Anything you put out there, I guarantee you that somebody can come up with dirt to throw it the otherway too.

One day you will get over the fact that Hillary lost. Its over, get over it, move forward. By voting independent you mean voting Repug. And that is your personal choice, and nobody is going to criticize you. And if your that concern with the other 18 million who allege to feel the same way you do, why don't you help her pay off Hillary's debt, and not dis Obama.

Susie, So you would rather have John McCain pack the Supreme Court with right wing judges who will see that Roe v. Wade is overturned? Would you also like birth control taken away from women the way the Bush administration is now trying to do with Presidential directives? Would you really like for women to become Cindy Stepford McCain dolls? What are you thinking? Hillary Clinton would have been good as a Vice President if she didn't have to bring Bill along but can you imagine how little either Hillary or Barack would have been able to do with Bill roaming the White House halls? There are just too many negatives for Hillary to be a good fit. Besides Hillary and Bill did not want Bill's finances vetted because of the questionable ways he has gathered support for his library and global fund. I hope you will think long and hard between now and November and support a Democratic ticket that can really bring change to Washington and perhaps get common sense and reason back in the White House.

      • Posted By: casey13 @ 08/23/2008 5:03:54 PM

Roe v Wade is not the law of the land brainiac. See Casey.
Also, no Supreme Court will revisit Roe v Wade, so no worries. We could do with less legislating from the bench and more strict constructionism in the judiciary. Do you like laws being made by a single judge or panel of judges? Neither do I. The judiciary is to interpret and administer the laws, not make them up as is common in the 9th circuit and elsewhere. Perhaps, that is what the liberal wing wants? Hmmm???

Susie, please check your spelling before posting. Your comments would carry more weight if you spell correctly and don't resort to such nonsense as HAHAHAHAHAHA. Quiet (not quite) means silent or not noisy. Michelle Obama is a lawyer and professional person in her own right. I would hope she might be just as outspoken as Hillary was while Bill was President. There is a long long history of Presidential wives having much to say about the work of their husbands. Starting with Martha Washington (she financed a chunk of the revolutionary war from her Custis family inheritance), Abigail Adams encouraged John to remember the ladies and give them the vote, Dolly Madison was an outspoken and very courageous lady when the British burned the White House, Eleanor Roosevelt was Franklin's eyes and ears while he was President because he found it difficult to get around because of his polio. I would hope that a woman as intelligent and educated as Michelle Obama would contribute in many ways if she becomes first lady. Why waste good brain power?

          • Posted By: fishergran @ 08/23/2008 5:51:48 PM

It is in the article above. Also, there was trouble during Hillary's campaign about releasing records regarding Bill's library donations. Don't you remember that? After much demanding Hillary finally released part of their tax records but they never released any info about Bill's fund raising. All of that would have been a part of the campaign if she had been picked for VP.

I'm one of those over 50 white middle class PA women-and I support Obama. But just got off the phone with my 83 year old mother-and she represents all the hurdles he'll have to overcome. Even though she initially supported him last spring, now she spouts 'facts' sent to her over Fox News and by fringe groups in the mail-so called 'facts' like-he is best friends with Farrakahan, like he has family members in Kenya who he will bring over on Visas to stack his cabinet??, like he'll nationalize the oil industry and do away with capitalism?
This is a college educated woman, who has so quickly fallen prey to the smear/fringe/whack job hate groups that I despair for his ability to overcome their vitriolic, hateful, rhetoric with mere logic, facts, and a dispassionate attempt to run an honorable campaign. Had a real verbal smackdown with her-but I'm afraid she represents far too many people who explain why his numbers have been dropping. We as Americans seem to prefer 'dirty' campaigning to the hard work of reading and becoming informed, and paying attention to policies. Yet, I will soldier on, and support Obama to the hilt, and know that I tried to do my part...

It's a chartiy that helps children mostly poor around the world who have disabilities especially cleft palettes! The Mccain's have adopted a daughter who has a cleft palette! Cindy Mccain has been active with this charity for over 15 years!

While this sound bite like the last Democrat great white HOPE everyone knows how that turn out!! That was Democrat President in office and with a wife as vice President the last war was due nothing just like the Democrat congress you write him and nothing happen never see my vote again end not by a democrat nor did that party open up the gates to china and the USSR but the they did give us NATFA and watch company move over seas and to Mexico and the stock market was down and the President Bush stated that would get better and it did then the American spoken and then the NATFA then the exPresident wife with her do-nothing congress if I did nothing I would not have a job people lost job service people getting out could not find jobs because they left town and so you people VOTE for Obama Biden spell wrong on o well see what jobs they are going to give away or will that be first goal set by New President And far as supported President Bush there is more than what change America stand.

Has everyone forgot the fact that Joe Biden PLAGIARIZED a speach word for word from a Brit Politician just before he became the Chair of the Ethics Committee? I guess that every one forgets what they want to but I don't. When I heard that he was the Chair of the Ethics Committee I couldn't believe my ears...did he find God like crooks do in Jail or did he buy his way into the job? It really hurts me everytime I see someone Plagiarize...I am a University Professor and I only hold Joe Biden to the same code that I hold my Freshman and he failed a long time ago. Now Mr. Obama has picked this steller example of a Washington Politician as the person he wants to help him govern with...not if my vote counts.....

    • Posted By: nleath @ 08/23/2008 9:51:44 PM

You might be a university professor, but speach is spelled speech.

      • Posted By: susiequebee1 @ 08/23/2008 10:27:21 PM

Boy are we up there on the ladder..University Professor. I"ve never met one person who has not "Plagiarized " something in their youth or older. Have you ever photo-copied something to hand out to your class? What do you call that? Sounds like "plagiarism" to me!! Hey, don't vote! Vote for McCain if you want, after all we all have skeleton's in our closets and maybe the Keating Five, or Mrs. McCain's drug habit of the past was ok with you. Don't vote, but then don't complain about the way this Country is going the next four years. What are your skeleton's, I bet it was plagiarism and you got caught!

        • Posted By: pezzfann @ 08/24/2008 12:21:44 AM

I think the complaint is that he plagarized his speech just before becoming chairman of the "Ethics" commitee. And photocopying something to hand out to a class is not plagarism. Plagarism is when you use something someone else has written and claim it as you have written it.

      • Posted By: susiequebee1 @ 08/23/2008 10:14:20 PM

I'm sure at one time or another you did the same thing that you accuse him of doing. Show me a kid (meaning you at one time) who plagerized one article or another! PS..Photocopying is a form of plagerizing and I'm sure you've done that for your class at one time or another haven't you???

    • Posted By: EveryoneHasBias @ 08/24/2008 12:06:43 AM

      Professor,
Politician, Jail, Plagiarize and Freshman do not need to be capitalized. Also, freshman in the plural is freshmen. There is no such word as everytime. You not only spelled "speach" wrong, but also "steller," which is really spelled s-t-e-l-l-a-r. Also, "as the person he wants to help him govern with" is so grammatically incorrect that I fear for the education of your students. Much as it hurts you to see someone plagiarize, it hurts me to see a professor with such poor writing skills. One last thing: please learn to use commas. Do not fear them. They are your friends.

  • Posted By: BSB429 @ 08/24/2008 12:16:20 AM

Never had a "hint of financial or sexual scandal?" Is that now the standard for determining if someone is fit to be VP? As for the article's oblique reference to "matters of academic ethics and plagiarism," was this written by a Biden staffer or a legitimate newsperson? Biden is a plagiarist and a cheat. Appalling. Just how does this favorably showcase Obama's judgment? I am one very disappointed (former?) Obama supporter.

  • Posted By: brockbankdm @ 08/24/2008 12:14:47 AM

unassuming? Why don't you replay his 1987 run for the presidency wherein he chided a reported for having less IQ than he did?

  • Posted By: dks-esq @ 08/23/2008 10:11:11 PM

How exactly is Biden "in some ways . . . the anti-Dick Cheney"? Any journalist attempting to appear objective would at least try and explain it, or better yet, leave that snarky comment out altogether. Any editor take a gander at this before it was posted?

    • Posted By: mcf304 @ 08/24/2008 12:13:50 AM

I don't think the journalist was being anything but objective here. If you read all the facts surrounding Dick Cheney's illegal influence on the country, in forcing us into a war with no just cause, and promotion of big oil at every turn, it's not an inaccurate statement to say that Joe Biden's philosophy is directly opposed to Cheney's. The fact that Biden offered Bush his help but was ignored is probably one of the worst decisions Bush could have made. Instead, he went to Cheney and let him pull the strings. I am happy as anyone that things are looking up in Iraq and that our troops may be coming home soon, but that doesn't change the fact that it was a war that we had no business starting.

Transcript for new Hussein ad...Hussein camp threatening stations if they run it. This is soooo FUNNY....

Beyond the speeches, how much do you know about Barack Obama?

    What does he really believe?

    Consider this:

United 93 never hit the Capitol on 9/11.

But the Capitol was bombed thirty years before -

By an American terrorist group called Weather Underground that declared 'war' on the U.S. -

Targeting the Capitol, the Pentagon, police stations and more.

One of the group's leaders, William Ayers, admits to the bombings, proudly saying later:

    'We didn't do enough.'

Some members of the group Ayers founded even went on to kill police.

But Barack Obama is friends with Ayers, defending him as, quote,

    'Respectable' and 'Mainstream.'

Obama's political career was launched in Ayers' home.

And the two served together on a left-wing board.

Why would Barack Obama be friends with someone who bombed the Capitol...and is proud of it?

Do you know enough to elect Barack Obama?

Comment: Perhaps a true Catholic might fight on the side of those who hpoe to reduce the rate of abortions by removing the root causes - poverty, lack of health care, ignorance of planned parenthood options, etc. The republican agenda is to promote a self-smug moral superiority while leaving these root causes in place.

I hate to tell you this I know a lot of people that would be considered below the poverty line and they have morals, are not ignorant and work hard for what they do have. I do not for one minute believe that government is responsible for the total education of abstinence or birth control which should be taught by parents. I will say that until people realize the more we let the youth of today get pulled in by liberal media or televison the worse off this country will be. I wouldn't put blame on one party or the other but if your trying to then look at both of them before you blame he one your not routing for!

Fight4USA8, As for the Rick Warren Forum, I hate to inform you of this because I'm sure you'll come up with some excuse, but both of them were given a list of "question areas" not THE question that would be asked in each area. If you think McCain was like a robot, what did you think of Obama? He was definatly uncomfortable because if he said what he really thought and didn't try to balance or CONTROL what he said as to not lose any votes and lets make everyone we can feel good about me, he would have really shown his colors. The guy will say and do anything to get elected. It is after all a very historic time in our country and I'm sure he would like noting more than to have his ego stroked with the power that comes with being president. Until the guy can show me his "Change" plan in an outline and not just what needs to be changed, I'm very sceptical. Don't fall for the slick salesman speeches or the spin everyone into a frenzy rallies look at substance once he shows it, if he ever shows it!
