    Geez Fineman, no offense, but this is the biggest piece of baloney I've heard this month. If she was so concerned about her husband "murky sources of income" why did she run in the first place? It's downright stupid to assume that the Obama campaign would have vetted her in a way McCain wouldn't have, had she had the nomination.

    I was for Clinton but I understand why Obama didn't pick her, in spite of how the media made much ado about every little thing she or Bill said, she did manage to cut deep wounds and even lately turn many of her former supporters off (including yours truly). In a way, she should have done what Romney did, once he knew he had lost, he abandoned all his aspirations for this cycle and has been gracious to McCain. Should McCain lose, and he will, Romney will look good to Republican voters four years from now, something Clinton is not doing by not letting go.

    But I digress. Give 'em hell, Biden!

    What a shocker, Newsweek fawns over Obama's choice for VP. He could have picked Kermit the Frog and Newsweek would be commenting on how green he is and how he will connect with enviornmentalists. What would be nice is some less cheerleading and some actual journalism..how about some insight into his legislative record? Opps...pretty liberal right down the line..must not mention that since Obama is fleeing to the center to try to get elected. I'd have more respect if he just came out and said, "I'm a pretty much left of Trotsky as my record indicates, take it or leave it." So continue the fine journalism Newsweek, if you can spare the time from kissing Obama's ass.

    Mixed bag Howard. Obamas abortion votes are already having an impact among Catholics[which is why he may have picked Biden to begin with]. While an otherwise decent pick for the neophyte Obama,Biden has a big mouth which has often gotton him into trouble,and which a president Obama would have to control. Bidens sabrerattling over the Russian invasion of Georgia will alienate the leftwing,and his pro-Israel position is also making them suspicious. The task for today is to be able to get both the lefties AND the Catholics/evangelicals on board the Obama express. A hell of a juggling act.

      Oh please - the "Catholics" you must be refering to are the Born-Again Bible Thumping Fundies who converted to Catholicism - they INFILTRATED the Catholic Church like the fleas and lice on a poor leper in the streets of Calcutta.

      The mainstream Catholics, those who have been Catholic for generations, are hardly concerned about abortion - most of us feel it is a disgusting issue to keep bringing into the political arena year afer year, decade after decade.

      It is a woman's right to choose what to do with her baby and her body - nobody is advocating abortion, but we are certainly on the moral phillosophical high ground when we give the adult the choice. The same simps who think they're so HOLY and righteous defending the Unborn Right to Life are those pummeling Washington with lobbyists from the National Rifle Association so they can carry guns to shoot and kill anybody trespassing on their private property.

      If you're going to be "anti-Abortion" and "Pro-Life" - why stop at the unborn? Why not extend the kindness and moral attitude toward the criminals on death row that you believe are sub-human? These are people who have souls, who are equal in God's eyes - they too were once the precious "Unborn" that you defend so hypocritically.

      Get off your high horse and stop posing as Catholics, you fundy-ass devil worshipers.

    An excellent choice. I am a Hillary supporter ... 65 year old retired military. She would have been an excellent choice as well, but I am onboard, enthused and ready to work hard for this ticket.

    A McCain Presidency just cannot happen. It is not that he is another King George II. It is that he would inherit a government that has been loaded with fascists at all levels through illegal, discriminatory hiring and intimidation. These folks are a cancer in our government that can only be controlled and rooted out over time by Democratice appointees. If McCain is elected most of his appointees will remain in place. God help us. Just look at the havoc the current Attorney General is reeking. He is worse than his predecesor. And he has all those Pat Robertson trained on staff to do his evil bidding. We must have Democratic appointees if we are to root out this cancer that now exists in every government department.

    Biden as the Anti-Cheney ... thank God! Maybe we can return to the rule of law in this Country. The reign of tryanny is almost over.

    Also, can anyone explain to me the thinking in a Red State? How can a small tax break make so many people stupid? What are their principles? What are their morals? How can they consider making the rich richer, the poor poorer, the loss of their freedoms, the subversion of government to big oil and other corporations, the loss of the middle class, the conspiracy, secrecy and criminal acts at all levels ... how can they consider these good things?

    Democratic presidential candidate Barack Hussein Obama named Delaware Sen. Joseph R. Biden, Jr who has Foreign Relations Committee chairman globe-trotting credentials ("experience"), as his vice presidential running mate early Saturday, balancing his ticket with a seasoned congressional veteran well-versed in foreign policy and defense issues. Shouldn't this be the other way around? I think the roles are reversed...

    This is more of a comment on "comments" and the democratic process. After reading the above article I looked at the Member Comments and was dismayed to see the horrid things written. My first reaction was that they should have been deleted. On second thought I considered how proud I am of our country and the folks at Newsweek/MSNBCMSN who leave things alone as it should be.
