That is funny , just why weren't these questions asked of G.W. in the 2000 election ? Why all these double standards all of a sudden ?

That is funny , just what kind of gage did the people use to put G.W. in office , twice ? None of these questions were asked of G.W. in the 2000 election. So why the double standard all of a sudden ?

This election will depend and hinge on Hillary`s supporters being able to forget and forgive Obama giving her and them the collective finger. As well has convincing small town bitter whites hanging on to guns and religion that attending & supporting an American hating & Racist Black Power church for 20 years while hanging out with Criminals, Terrorists and Racist is just an Black thing and nothing for anyone to be concerned about!

quite on the topic this article and one of the fairest i have seen.
just wanted add there is more than lack of substance what is the problem with senator Obama. He does not respect the democratic process: 1) as widely known by his repression of a re-vote in two states, 2) by using large scale fraud during caucuses and even primaries: see documentary by democratic grassroots efforts. the movie is shownin Denver and a preview is available at http://wewillnotbesilenced2008.com/video/index/htm

This is exactly the kind of critique of Obama that one would expect from a Jewish Clinton die-hard who would prefer McCain to Obama because McCain, like Hillary, would be guaranteed either to "obliterate" Iran FOR Israel, or spin an attack on Iran by Israel itself to the hilt. Likudnik friends of Israel--neocons, in other words, in either party--are terrified that Obama might be elected, because they know that if there's no American president to take the heat off Israel by bombing Iran himself, Israel will have to do the dirty deed, and if it does, it will need an American president willing to go all out to protect Israel from the inevitable wrath of the American masses when $12 gas and obliterated world stock markets quickly follow such an attack, as the night the day. What America needs, of course, is precisely Obama to protect us from allowing Israel to continue to use America to fight its proxy wars, as it did in Iraq, and wants to now in Iran as well. The American public needs to be deeply skeptical of Jewish American voices trying to smear Obama, however subtly, since he is the country's only hope for a new foreign policy. after the neocon debacle visited on us in Iran by the neocons and their Israeli directors.

I'm confused because I have read Obama's Blue Print for America, so what about that did the author not understand..........

It very clearly laid out Obama's plan on a wide range of issues:

    Social Security/Medicare
    Health Care
    The Economy
    The Iraq War
    Iran
    Afganistan
    Energy Independence

That's the PROBLEM, isn't it? The substance. Get with it, pal, there is NO substance. And there NEVER WILL BE. This PUNK is in WAY over his head, You might want to glance at Golden Boys' RESUME. Don't blink. I wouldn't want you to miss it. He's the Great Community Organizer, for the FAR LEFT GROUP, ACORN. Maybe you've heard of them. They were recently CONVICTED in the LARGEST VOTER FRAUD case in U.S. HISTORY. Maybe, if you want "substance", to go along with his populace puke, you'll wait until he can check with his long time buddy, and BENEFACTOR, TONY REZKO, on what to say. That is, if the guards at the JAIL that he'll be serving time in, permits him to get phone calls. Ya know what I mean? Idiots.

This article intelligently summarized why I have not yet decided to vote for Obama. I am sure its author will be called racist by the "gang of thugs" who blindly support Obama. But I'm happy to hear this voice; mine is certainly not loud enough to be heard. Who IS Obama, really? Does he have any real beliefs, beyond those of his (not always trustworthy) past associates? What does he really intend?

I enjoyed this article, and the author's point is well-taken. However, I believe his history of Clinton's foreign policy is a little too generous. For example, there is no mention of the 3 terrorist attacks (WTC '93, Kenya & Uganda Embassies, and USS Cole) and the extremely weak-kneed response that bin Laden himself has said encouraged al-Qaida to pursue its 9/11 plans. Nor does the author concede that the fall of the Soviet Union is what enabled Clinton to slash defense, intelligence, and foreign aid spending in order to balance the budget. Clinton was able to operate under a very different context from that of his previous 8 predecesors.

All that said, if the Democrats really wanted to win this race, they should have nominated an experienced moderate centrist like President Clinton instead of the most liberal and inexperienced senator. Somehow, amazingly, there is going to be a Republican successor to President Bush.

Ms. Clinton lost. It's not the DNC's fault. She lost.

      • Posted By: Steve007 @ 08/25/2008 3:05:17 PM

No. It's the MSM's fault for covering up the Wright tapes until Osama had it in the bag.

        • Posted By: AskPlus @ 08/25/2008 7:20:23 PM

I'm sorry. I thought they beat that horse for three months. As it turns out, he did not say he was shot at. The MSM had to report Ms Clinton, since it came out of her mouth. Same somehow happened to Mr. Clinton.

          • Posted By: Red Meat Democrat @ 08/25/2008 8:26:45 PM

The MSM media has been blatantly anti-Clinton throughout this campaign. I have never seen anything like it. Even supposedly credible journalists let their bias show. The only way to get back at them is to defeat their candidate of choice.

      • Posted By: Red Meat Democrat @ 08/25/2008 8:13:26 PM

I agree with your second paragraph. That is exactly why many Hillary supporters are so angry. She was our best chance in years and it was ruined by the left wing loonies of the Democratic party trying to assuage their damn white liberal guilt. It is incredible but I have to concur that the odds are in McCain's favor. .

  • Posted By: Steve007 @ 08/25/2008 3:02:25 PM

The fact that Newsweek implicitly admits they are in the tank for Obama does not mean they are not in the tank for Obama. Clearly, they are.

How embarrassing to think that I once subscribed, back when they were a genuine news organization instead of a Dem party mouthpiece!

    • Posted By: Red Meat Democrat @ 08/25/2008 8:01:10 PM

You are right on about NewsWeak. They have become the left wing equivalent of FOX.

I keep reading on these posts about "Obama voting to kill babies" I have been trying to find valid information regarding this vote, mostly there are personal political blogs by McCain supporters so I really take it with a grain of salt. But I did find this article on Huffington Post. (Yeah yeah left wing liberal bias paper that Obama owns, did I get it right? LOL!)

The Next Smear Against Obama: "Infanticide"

"Unlike Obama in Illinois, Sen. Hillary Clinton voted to support the [2002 federal] bill," Hudson wrote earlier this year. "In fact, the bill passed the Senate 98 to 0 with pro-abortion senators like Boxer (D-CA) and Reid (D-NV) supporting it. In 2003, the bill was introduced in the Illinois legislature for the third time and directed to a committee chaired by Obama, Health and Human Services. They refused to bring the bill to a vote. Only when Obama left for Washington in 2005 did the Born Alive Infant Protection Act pass the Illinois legislature. It's for good reason Barack Obama has been called 'the most pro-abortion presidential candidate ever.'"

One significant problem with Hudson's logic is that it requires comparing apples to oranges. The Illinois and federal bills differed not only in language, but regulatory impact. Critically, the Illinois version of the bill that Obama opposed was also bundled with other proposals that would have put doctors at risk of prosecution, which led the Illinois State Medical Society to oppose the measure along with Obama. The state bill also carried greater influence in terms of enforcement, since states had been granted greater leeway in regulating abortion practices ever since the U.S. Supreme Court's 1992 ruling in the case of Planned Parenthood v. Casey.

Illinois State Representative Rosemary Mulligan sighed when the Huffington Post told her about the "infanticide" claim currently being leveled at Obama. As a pro-choice Republican who is supporting John McCain for president but also worked with Obama back in 2001, she described the first Illinois version of the Born Alive legislation as "a very onerous bill," adding that "I think that the hardcore, hard right conservative Catholics overreach on this one."

Something else Deal Hudson fails to note in his critique of Obama is the fact that the 2005 version of the state bill, which passed, was a compromise bill free of any other measures Obama had previously opposed. Had he been there to vote for it, he may well have done so. Specifically addressing his onetime concern over the impact of a re-definition of what "born alive" could be interpreted to mean, the 2005 measure that passed after Obama left Springfield included three new clauses that read:

Thank you so much for posting this. I thought the world was spinning backwards, but it turns out it just the same lie factory. Poor Lori must really be hurting inside somewhere deep. I wonder about her sometimes. First she's somewhat reasonable, then she just lashes out without provocation. There's a couple of bloggers like that.

And lastly (!), Obama is a better speaker than John Kerry. That's the only difference I could discern so far.

"A Liberal's Lament" was extremely well thought out and so well written, it's the best piece here in a long time. It merely asks for Obama to tell us WHAT he is goign to change and HOW he plans to do that. His speeches are eloquent, his delivery, uplifting. But his words are hollow, without a foundation to hold them up. And that is because he really has no plan yet. And what the liberals hope for is that he hurries up and forulates one so that he can present it and people can believe it. That is not a solution. What does he stand FOR, and what does he stand AGAINST? I beleive in candidates who take a stand - not someone who stands for everything. The old saying goes, you must stand for something, or you will fall for anything. Right now, Obama is falling.

Oh yes, Americans are SO looking for "substance" it's just going to be so tough, yeah right. Most Americans these days seem totally fixated on "entertainment" and the only "substance" they seek is the nasty stuff that one politician digs up on another (McCain or Hillary vs. Obama)...

Let's see if your observation rings true. I'm pretty cynical about the American public these days; they seem rather under-educated - not all, but many...

  • Posted By: sdlatl @ 08/25/2008 5:33:32 PM

The problem is, he ISN'T a man of substance. As the latest Jib-Jab parody says, his only idea is to change the change we must change in the change we hold dear. The sum total of his preparation for the most complicated, difficult and responsible job in the world is about 140 days on the floor of the US Senate, plus some time hanging around the Illinois legislature and being a "community organizer," whatever the heck that is. Who would allow someone with 140 hours of flying time to pilot a 747? Who would want an intern with 140 days of experience to do his heart surgery? There's simply no there there. The idea that Barack Obama is qualified to be president of the United States is, quite simply, preposterous! If he wins, he'll make George W Bush and Jimmy Carter look like George Washington, Abe Lincoln and FDR.

This was brilliant. I hope someone high up in the campaign gets this and passes it on to the candidate. He desperately needs to put some meat on those bones and preferably give a name to his policy proposals like the great Democrat presidents of the past, e.g. the New Society, or something like that. And sound less like Carter, more like Truman.

This was brilliant. I hope someone high up in the Obama campaign gets this and passes it on to the candidate in time for Thursday's acceptance speech. He desperately needs more substance, and (in my mind) give a moniker to his ideas like the great Democratic presidents have, e.g. the New Society, or something similar. Before it's too late.

I don't worry about Obama being perceived as substantial. It's the substance he represents that concerns me. His socialist-leaning philosophy is exactly what has brought the country to it's present state, whether advocated by Democrat or Republican. We don't need more of the same, only worse.
