    Comment: Dear Editor,

For your "Perspective: Quotes from August 18-August 22":

" What sort of re-education through labor can she serve? "
Beijing resident Li Xuehui, whose 79-year-old mother has been sentenced to one year of heavy labor for applying to demonstrate in the Chinese Olympic protest parks against the demolition of her home

The short quote has quite a number of neglects and faults on reflecting this issue's truth.

Firstly, Li Xuehui was sentenced on 30th July, due to "disrupting the social order" as she disrupted the local police office..

Secondly, although the sentece was supposed to be 1-year re-education, the judge has considered her age and exonerated her actual re-education, with only a nominal 1-year sentence left. So if the question " What sort of re-education through labor can she serve? " is asked about, the answer is: Nothing, she doesn't have to serve any.

Thirdly, the logic. Liu Xuehui applied for demonstrate during the Olympic Games period, which was after 8th Aug. Her application was turned down simply because the Chinese law doesn't approve demonstrate applications if it's during the person's sentence period. And she was sentenced on 30th July due to her disrupting the social order. There is no causal relationship between her demonstrate application and the sentence. One more thing to point out,as the foreign media often take Chinese reports as sources of information, there are quite a number of fault-reoprts due to mistakes happened in the translation or other reasons. I sincerely hope that the editor can pay more attention and apply careful investigations rather than simply translate and put it onto the paper. Misleading reports can impact on thousands of people's view on an issue or even a whole country.
