Regarding the comment by Charles, if drilling in the gulf began tomorrow, it would be ten or twelve years before the first gallon would be pumped out. If the leased area is drilled by BP or by Dutch Shell, the petroleum is their's, not ours. They would be free to sell in on the open market and it could come here or it could go to China or India.

I believe that Senator Obama believes in looking at the problem in the long term. We must find an energy solution which, for the most part, is free from dependence on petroleum. If we do not, we will remain the vassals of the middle east until the last barrel is pumped from the ground. It is short sighted to do anything less.

There were equal numbers of conservative policy failures since the 70's as well unless you consider the budget deficit facing out children and grandchildren or our huge losses in terms of lives and dollars in Iraq and Afghanistan. How about the relaxation of fiscal regulation which began under President Reagan. Don't you think that had an effect on subprime mortages and the collapse of the housing market or the huge problems had Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, Indy Mac and so on. As taxpayers, we all will ultimately pay the price for those financial failures.

So, perhaps ObamaObama is wrong, perhaps the "muzzie" can provide the solution. The Bush-Cheney administration has not been able to do much of anything in eight years except run the budget deficit almost to the limit of the China credit card.

Describing the truth as a "rap" is an interesting way of trying to ignore it. I'll add further information. Today one half of Obama's family are Moslems and live in Africa. One of his brothers was interviewed a few days ago on TV. He lives in a tin shack and was conspicuous in wearing new clothes, obviously purchased by the interviewers for the purposes of the interview. All of his brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles, etc. on his father's side of his family are Africans in Africa. Obama couldn't get a security clearance. The author of this article, Jacob Weisberg, has missed an important point: Barak Hussein Obama is a qusai-American. Both his natural father and step-father were Moslems, his father and African Moslem and this step-father an Indonesian Moslem. He lived the early part of his childhood in Indonesia and attended a Wahabi Moslem school. His religion was listed as Moslem. He also lived part of his childhood in Hawaii, not a place where a child with largely foreign connections would be likely to learn traditional American values. He has for over two decades associated with people who hate America (one of whom is a Weatherman bomber). His wife admitted publically that she was only now for the first time in her life proud of America. He is not entirely American. He is quasi-American. He is not the kind of man Americans elect President of the United States.

And Obama wont win. There are enough racist people in this country. They wont tell you to your face but the thought of a half black half white man in the Whitehouse will make them vote for McCain even if they know McCain will completely ruin their lives.

I am a WF50 who will probably vote Republican. I grew up poor and no welfare. I am sick of the waste and both sides too afraid to hold others responsible for their choices. There are no superheroes - It is not all one party's fault. The welfare programs are a joke so is the medicaid theft. I would like to see a black candidate address the welfare waste problem. Then I would vote for him.
