getzel, it is war-mongering Mccain who is more likely to re-institute the draft, and Obama was born in Hawaii to an American born (Kansan) mother, Stanley Ann Dunham. The last I checked Hawaii is one of the fifty states in the Union (and was at the time of Obama's birth). And just like Angelina Jolie's and Brad Pitt's daughter, Shiloh Nouvelle Joile-Pitt, born in Namibia, is an American citizen because her parents, so would Obama be even if he had not been born in the states (though he was, and unlike McCain, who was born in Panama), because his mother was an American citizen. And just like all the children born to illegal immigrants on our soil are American citizens by virtue of being born in this country, even though their parents are not legal citizens, so Obama would have been an American citizen, even if his mother had not been American (though she was). So, either way, he was born to an American citizen, in America/on American soil. He's as American as (presumably) you (are).

mccainsupporter, I think Joe Biden, having been in the Senate for 35 years, and having known McCain both in 2000 and now, probably knows him better than you do (or the MSM does), and is, therefore, qualified to speak on the trending towards the right changes in McCain this election cycle, from the maverick moderate of 2000. McCain is now employing the same Bush/Rove operatives against Obama that were employed against him in 2000, which he then decried. He's also flip flopped on many of the positions he held 8 years ago. Who better to know how McCain has morphed into a neocon than one who's been in the Senate longer than he?

As far as I see things, there are many individuals who benefitted from two parent families, even up to the time they were divorced and some others who weren't scarred by beibg brought up in a single p[arent family (Mom only).

(Sorry, my finger slipped in message above I was typing . . . ) . Explanation: Obama said that he would not vote for the Born Again bill that was submitted in his state that he continued to block. BUT, he did say to people that if his state bill was written like the US Senate Federal bill that was passed he would have voted for it. Errrrp. It has since been proven that his state vers. of the bill was worded exactly as the Federal bill that passed; so his reason for not voting for his states bill is debunked. He lied. Case closed. BTW, why all of a sudden you have to talk about McCain? Probably because you wanted to debunk him, but in your case it is not true. His only issues with flying a plane was fllying too low near high retention lines (but did not crash) and the rest of the issues were not anything of his doing (maintenance issues) except him being shot down over north vietnam which he ejected out of him plane from and was captive for 5 1/2 yrs. as a POW.

Great article. Points out that Obama didn't get where he is by being soft. Obama has a quiet strength -- not the blustery strength McCain exhibits through his taunts and tirades. I want the guy in the Oval Office to be the guy who isn't always looking for a fight (it's easy to find one if that's what you're looking for -- but it's not at all the best or most productive approach -- after all, how many fights can your resources support at any given time and how much is lost in a fight that could have been resolved in a better way if only the leadership had their priorities in order to best serve the greater good of the country instead of the greater good of a few chosen for their likemindedness or proven loyalties. In addition, taking into account all the smears and accusations of Obama supporting the "angry black man" philosophies, can you imagine what those smears would be like if he came across as angry like McCain and was taking the kind of cheap shots McCain is taking. Obama doesn't have the POW shield that McCain has and seems to use to explain so many of his failings. I believe voters have a very clear choice and I hope they take the time to look, beyond the partisan rhetoric and get informed as to who McCain and Obama are before casting their votes. Another administration like the current one would be disastrous for America.

nancy1, I think one of the reasons Obama picked Biden is because Biden is the "blustery strength" that Obama lacks. Biden will be the "attack dog" the Dem's so badly need. They need eyes and ears turned away from Obama because he shows he is "soft' in so many areas.

He does NOT claim that life in Africa today is "premodern."
