Hey jath123, if you are talking about brilliance, you must NOT be talking about McCain.

894 out of 899 at the Academy, one dimensional thinker, narrow vision, and locked in the past, THAT IS JOHN MCCAIN.

No brilliance on the issues, only negative attacks. And he is NOT even smart enough for that. The attacks are from his team.

Every time he says something of his own, there is a gaff.

Sorry but brilliance and McCain is An absolute paradox.

Your probably right...the only thing worse would be Obama. So McCain it is.

Gotta love those baby boomers. They're not happy unless they're living in misery. And they'll take the rest of us with them.

Great comment willnotvoteobama! America needs the truth, honesty, military brilliance, and economic competence of the Republican Party for four more years (not). Or maybe we should just close ranks with those craaaazy man-hating nutjob Hillary supporters who don't grasp basic math and believe the nomination was stolen. Oh, the alternatives to Obama are just soooo attractive!

What happened under Nixon after 1968? Alter couldn't be more wrong. Richard Nixon's first term was one of the most successful in US history. All he did was make peace with China, with the Soviets (including SALT I), propose and pass the first legal enforcement of Civil Rights (the Affirmative Action policies of the Philadelphia Plan), withdraw troops and progress towards the end of US involvement in Vietnam (finalized only weeks into his second term), institute the all-volunteer Army and abolishing the draft, lowering the voting age to 18, proposing a sweeping work-for-welfare system that was ahead of its time (and ultimately adopted by Bill Clinton), create the Environmental Protection Agency, and oversaw wars and crisis in the Middle East without allowing it to escalate into a global conflict btw the superpowers (which came close to happening). Humphrey is a good and decent man, but there is no way he could have accomplished so much in 4 years. Indeed, few have.

1968 was nowhere near the "most disasterous" convention ever for the Democratic Party. In 1860 in Charleston, SC the party was unable to choose a nominee. The Party broke into 3 shattered pieces thereby making the election of Abraham Lincoln a certainty....thank god.

i would say, without doubt, the most disasterous deomcratic convention ever was in 1860 in charleston, south carolina, when the party could not choose a nominee and wound up splitting into 3 camps, thereby sealing its fate in the election that gave us abraham lincoln....thank god.
    1968 pales in comparison.
