Are you guys serious? Good but not great? He had 90,000 people crying with his brilliance. How can a guy who wrote Bush's speeched comment on Barack Obama. Obama is the genius, you guys are speech writers. It must be real hard writing Bush's speeches (terrorism, Al-qaida, terrorism, al-qaida, terrorism, osama bin laden, terrorism...etc.)

Expect different results from the same players in the same game? How could anyone vote McCain?
Obama nailed it last night. I am all in.
This election is over. Landslide baby!!

You must be a Republican. The speech Obama gave was heart felt. Obama will win in November and finally after 8 long years we will have a president that will work for the people.

Obama has so many great points. Its too bad he had to ruin it by bringing his imaginary friend into politics. It is hard to take Obama seriously ever since he dragged his god into the race. Gods are for small children and schizophrenics, not grownup, and especially not presidents. Obama will certainly loose the Bright vote on this issue.

Sometimes so called 'experts' are so stuck in their heads that they can't recogize an exceptional event... it was not just the speech but the sincerity and heart of the man. Experts are often stuck in only viewing circumstances from the 'mental' plane and they miss the rest of what is going on in life. I feel sorry for the 'experts' who were unmoved and did not recognize that after last night's speech americans all over this country are believing in american again, feeling pride in being american again, hopeful and dreaming about a great future for america.
I saw a on old clip of Joe Biden recently in which he stated 'I'll tell you how you can recognize a leader. Leaders change attitudes'.
Last night we heard from Senator Obama the speech of a man who changed the attitudes of millions of americans, we hard the speech of a great leader.

What is interesting about Obama is that Washingtoners never seem to get him but WE, the people do. He's one of us and you're not. You don't understand that what Obama did last night was above critics like the two of you because it wasn't a "speach" at all. It was a leader leading, not a face reading.

Oh what a pitiful bunch of Gerson. Can't this man remove himself to the rhetorical manure pile and be done with it?

OBAMA? A man of Integrity? A man of good Judgment? A man of good Character? I dont think so. How do you explain this?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfaUeYXUDxU

Barack Obama had a close relationship with William Ayers (who is an admitted unapologetic terrorist of the Weather Underground back in the 60s who served on the Board in which Obama also served). And Michelle and Williams wife served in the same Law firm also. In fact, the Woods Funds Investments have included investments for this radical group: OBAMA PUBLIC CHAIRMAIN OF EDUCATION GROUP

ACORN: This is a LIBERAL ACTIVIST GROUP, notorious for voter registration FRAUD and even paying for votes using crack cocaine.

Operating in at least 38 states (as well as Canada and Mexico), ACORN pushes a highly partisan agenda, and its organizers are best understood as shock troops for the AFL-CIO and even the Democratic Party.

ACORN and its affiliates have pulled some real stunts in recent years. In Ohio in 2004, a worker for one affiliate was given crack cocaine in exchange for fraudulent registrations that included underage voters, dead voters and pillars of the community named Mary Poppins, Dick Tracy and Jive Turkey. During a Congressional hearing in Ohio in the aftermath of the 2004 election, officials from several counties in the state explained ACORNs practice of dumping thousands of registration forms in their lap on the submission deadline, even though the forms had been collected months earlier. (SHARENEWS: As I remember in the primaries there was one particular state that held out the votes as described here that had the news media in an uproar trying to find out what the hrs and hrs of delay were about. . . ). Hmmmmm.

Given this history, its not surprising that ACORN is so hostile to voter identification laws and other efforts to ensure fairness and accuracy at the polls.

OBAMAS ACORN INVOLVEMENT EXPOSED (PART 1 OF 2):

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8Ep1tkNOUU

ACORN is the group Obama was a community organizer for prior to his systematic trashing of all of his political opponents resulting in his ascension to his short career as a State and then U.S. Senator. ACORN has been convicted of hiring people to fraudulently register and then vote in several states via absentee ballot as many times as they wish. In Ohio 2004 one person registered as Jive Turkey and was reported to have been paid in Crack Cocaine. Thanks for blowing the whistle on ACORN.

THESE KINDS OF ATTACKS R EXPECTED FROM U REPUBS...OBAMA CAN NO MORE HELP WHO HE WORKED FOR UPON GRADUATING COLLEGE THAN U CAN KNOW THE PERSONAL LIVES OF THE PEOPLE U WORK FOR NOW...THAT IS IF U HAVEN'T LOST UR JOB B/C OF OUTSOURCING, HIGH GAS PRICES, SLOWING ECONOMY, ETC., ETC.

YOU'RE JUST ANOTHER CLOSET RACIST THAT CAN'T STAND ANOTHER' PERSON'S SKIN COLOR BEING DARKER THAN YOUR OWN. IF IT GETS TOO BAD U CAN ALWAYS COMMIT SUICIDE!

Yet another rant from an Obamabot who can't think for himself. Since someone disagree's with you, you have to call that person a racist. This is a typical response from brain dead followers of Obama

Since he's not an obamabot, he is incapable of displaying 'Obamabot childishness?

the name "Jarhead" doesn't bother me - do you even know where it comes from??? . No I don't like resorting to name calling. But sometimes there are lack of words to describe your kind of ignorance. Other than based upon your postings - you never seem to contribute anything intelligent. All I have ever seen you do is attack others. You are definitely an angry old woman who loves to rant and rave - without anything of substance to contribute.

      • Posted By: sharenews @ 08/27/2008 8:37:15 PM

Independent who will be voting Republican. Immersing oneself into relationships with a couple bad seeds is one thing, but Obamas lists of relationships of the people he kept close to him is huge. If that does not question his judgment, his values and his choices in his life up until now (and this is on top of Obama being an empty suit that knows how to talk) I dont know what will for you Obamabots. He is too scary of a choice. I will take the guy who also has had controversial associations who at least has an enormous amount of experience under his belt. . . .actual proof that he is a man of substance.

The election campaigning has really become ugly, mainly emanating from the supporters and the rank and file rather than from the candidates themselves. The emotions are running high and for some, honesty, integrity and personal quality are not things that they want to be handicapped with. I loved what Richard Dreyfus said in expressing that all he wanted to see was the truth and a return to the high integrity that has been missing for some time. I agree with him that the only way for that to happen is to elect Barack Obama as the Republicans, spoiled by too much for too long, have become corrupt, grossly dishonest, arrogantly self-indulgent and without conscience, really cocky and exceedingly bold. I???m sure some of them will quietly take that as a compliment. The truth is, as you can see in these blogs, as you see in the slander and false attacks and just in the garbage that is used to avoid dealing with the real issues and the candidates honest positions, the quality has been literally reduced to a gutter level. The trouble is that the media loves it and how it helps their ratings, so they feed it rather than exposing it for what it is. I would hope that the public could see through all of it and then view it with disgust and condemnation, giving their support to the candidate running the higher quality campaign. I don???t know if that is happening though, as consistent with one of Karl Rove???s philosophies, the offenders just keep saying it boldly, loudly and often, intending to sway some even though it isn???t the truth. The real trouble is that the Republican arrogant and unconscionable self-serving ways will only get worse should they win and we will not only have more of the same (Bush-Cheney policies) we experienced over the last eight years but they will be emboldened and the average American will loose even more ground. What needs to happen is that each voter looks inside of themselves and when they are exposed to the garbage and the attempts to manipulate their thinking, they recognize it, reject it and instead become disciplined to objectively and rationally make their own decisions based on the real issues. If that can???t happen, if the average American can???t intelligently discern what is actually garbage offered with the intent to deceive them, then we may be destined to a continuing Republican dominance and a progressively deteriorating status for the average American. And by the way, the average American category also includes most Republicans who are not of the select few but rather are those who are sold the idea that ???conservative??? is good and represents benefits only for Special Interests and a select few, and that ???liberalism??? is bad even when it benefits most Americans and in part is aimed at bringing up those who are down, enabling them to join and help in a productive economy benefiting everyone.

Did you listen to the same speech I did? Last night? Mile High Stadium? Denver? Apparently you didn't. Either that or you have severe hearing deficits. May I suggest that you both get a transcript of the speech I heard and go over it. I think you will find that 99% of the criticisms you make are so completely out of line as to be ludicrous. Try it.

as an independent voter who tries to see the real truth before I vote, I am dismayed that Republicans and conservative political writers such as Michael Gerson can't seem to be at all objective, but only listen to the speeches of great American's like Barack Obama to find fault. Then again, I guess I am expecting too much of someone who writes speeches for George Bush. After all, he is the more boring speaker in US history.

  • Posted By: Cloudosmoke @ 08/29/2008 1:48:46 PM

There are people that will actually vote for McCain. That in itself is laughter at America from the rest of the world. McCain truly is a third Bush term. There's no escaping Bush policy with him.

  • Posted By: Rickrocker @ 08/29/2008 1:48:26 PM

Number 1, if I had written any of George Bush's speeches, I wouldn't want anyone to know it, and Number 2, no one is mentioning the fact that Obama didn't need a speechwriter, he wrote his own.

  • Posted By: repub4obama @ 08/27/2008 3:56:54 PM

Thank god that the electoral votes are in such favor to Obama. This country cannot afford another 4 years of Bush failed policies and platforms. The right wing conservatives are destroying this country and want to continue to destroy this country.

  • Posted By: Nor-Cal for Obama @ 08/29/2008 1:42:02 PM

I think the fact that we have previous speechwriters for both BUSH and CLINTON as the supposed 'experts' here is laughable. The speech sent my entire family into exuberance, even my republican grandfather.

  • Posted By: Beej @ 08/29/2008 1:38:55 PM

Were you actually listening to the same speech I was? The one at Mile High Stadium? Last night? I don't think so. Apparently you heard some other speech delivered somewhere else. What a ridiculous "analysis". So Obama chose to emphasize division, did he? Let's see, what were the words? Oh yes, something about all of being Americans first, all of us being in this together, all of us needed to turn things around. Yes, I see what you mean. That's certainly emphasizing division. May I suggest that you get online and read the transcript of Barak Obama's acceptance speech? Apparently the one you heard last night was by someone else.

  • Posted By: rsocialworker @ 08/29/2008 1:38:15 PM

    To Michael Gerson ,
I have to say you criticize Obama's speech and call it unmemorable, well I feel it was one of the best speeches since President Clinton left office. Also the information about you says you helped craft some of George W Bush's memorable speeches I am sorry I am not aware that he has had any memorable speeches.

Hillary gave reasons to vote Democratic, but none for voting for Obama.
What she said was, "I have great ideas but I didn't win, so vote for Obama so a Democrat will get in."
    She continues to be condescending.

    • Posted By: raddave @ 08/27/2008 5:32:46 PM

She said that Barack Obama was her candidate.

She said vote for your democratic party. No personal endorsement of Obama.

        • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 08/27/2008 9:25:13 PM

She mentioned Sen. Obama several times which doesn't mean she's endorsing Sen. McCain. Grab a nap.

          • Posted By: loriw @ 08/28/2008 1:22:22 AM

Hillary mentioned Obama,by name, maybe 5 times at the most.

            • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 08/28/2008 4:35:45 AM

5 is several. Since you grandly announced recently that you will NOT vote for Sen. Obama, what do you care if Sen. Clinton never mentions Sen. Obama?

loriw enjoys suffering from EXTREME CLINTON HATE/ENVY I'm not really sure which it is. But she has some serious issues with both Hillary and Bill Clinton and now it seems anyone who does not hate them as she does.

In my opinion, the most consdescding posts on this blog are coming from Obama supporters. Hillary's speech was absolutely magnificent. If she was too syrupy it would have seemed phony
