The Republicans are going to have a long 2 month period. The line chart just crashed through the bottom of the board. No recovery. McCain attempts to rehash his rehashings. Celebrity, aw man didn't work. Inexperience, aw man I just tapped the most inexperienced VP in history. Surge, aw man I sound like Bush.

    No more Bush. No McCain.

Gerson's jealous, Gerson's jealous, someone (Obama himself) wrote a better speech than him, Gerson's jealous! Hahaha - love it! Obama/Biden all the way - the right judgement to lead!!!

Michael Gerson is an idiot. Barack rocked the house and came across with actual proposals -- some of them innovative, something Republicans know NOTHING about.

"Michelle's speech", which very likely was NOT written by Michelle, was nothing but a sales job of addressing objections in an attempt to "close the sale" . That speech was written to subtly address all the concerns that the American people have about Obama and Michelle. Her stating that she was so proud to be American goes back to her previous statements regarding "for the first time in my adult life..." Her story about Obama driving their forst born homd from the hospital was to address the votes preventing care to be given to born alive infants following abortion.. there were other statement that tied directly back to the things that Americans have about Obama. All the talk about family fills up the time left empty by lack of actual experience.

I'll keep thinking of the tactics they used to subliminally "sell" Obama....Did anyone catch the "Born in the USA" song that was sung tonight? Geee...could that have been in response to the resurgence and law suit regarding Obama's claim he was born in the USA. His grandmother, step brother and step sister claim that they were there in Kenya when Obama was born...in KENYA. Makes you kinda go HHhmmm...

Of all the many, many relative that Obama has I noticed they introduced his OLD,WHITE, MALE uncle.
I wonder what message the Obama campaign was trying to send with him? GEEee, maybe that he isn't really all black but half white so they can appeal to those who have problem with his being half black.
If he is a little of everything Obama can appeal to everyone....or no one.

Your observations regarding Born in the USA , and old, white uncle - very perceptive and astute!

It was tooted in the news shows that she wrote it two weeks ago, but you can bet that David Axelrod had a huge say on what went into that script.

      • Posted By: loriw @ 08/28/2008 1:05:53 AM

Sharenews...Axelrod has the real Michelle bound and gagged in a room far, far away from Obama and the convention. The woman you see is a look-alike. Axelrod will let her loose after election day.

hahahahahahaha. . .What a transformation. She has looked stunning the past few nites. She should stick with the haircut she has worn last two nites as it softens her features. Less harsh looking.

Hillary's speech was equally entertaining. I didn't count exactly because I was also trying to wrangle the grandbaby so I might have lost count but I think Hillary managed to mention Obama's name 5 times or less. It was special.
More special was the look on Michelle's face during Hillary's speech that looked like she was trying to hold a lemon in her mouth . The fellings of non-unity were clearly written in her expression. PUMA is right!

Ma'am, don't you have children to be raising, or a husband to love, or something better to do than put on airs and condescend?

      • Posted By: loriw @ 08/28/2008 3:34:02 AM

kids are raised, spent time talking to one and his fiance on the phone tonight, and with the granddaughter and my daughter, the husband and the dog took a long walk in the park. After we had dinner all together. My husband and I spent quality time together and then watched the convention. Earlier today I took care of the household chores and trimmed the landscaping around the front of my house. My family supports what I am doing here and know that I am not putting on any airs- what you see is what you get with me. I don't pretend anything.

Oh, by the way my daughter and grand baby had dinner with my husband and me last night too after another walk in another park. You see my son-in-law is currently in Iraq so we are doing all we can to give those two on the homefront all the support we can. Tomorrow it is back to one of my 2 jobs. Daughter is in college so I have some bills to keep up with. going to bed now..bye.

        • Posted By: summer4077 @ 08/28/2008 9:39:38 AM

Doesn't your daughter get her college for free because her husband is in the military? My friend's sister in law is in nursing school--all expenses paid by the government b/c her husband (my friend's brother) is active duty army...just got back from Baghdad. I'm not sure how that works, exactly, but I know the gov't is paying for her education.

          • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 08/28/2008 5:44:03 PM

loriw said that she is paying for her daughter to go to college. If her daughter is married to a US serviceman and is entitled to free college then loriw would not be paying. loriw isn't the type to pass up a handout.

loriw 'embroiders' so much that fiction has taken over her mind,

Her latest 'story' is that her college student daughter is married to a man who is serving in Iraq.
loriw says these two have just had a baby, which loriw has 'to wrangle in between the Democratic Convention, her two jobs as a 'nurse saving lives', and hours every day on these boards spewing her hateful anti-Democratic rubbish. A pathetic individual.

not only do youi not know history, but you are ignorant of current events as well. The government dos not pay for our wife or children's college education. And if they did, considering the very low pay our servicement get, don't you think that would be a perk that was earned? (Call it barter system)

              • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 08/29/2008 9:57:59 AM

      • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 08/28/2008 4:01:37 AM

loriw describes herself as a 'nurse saving lives' who 'works two jobs'. She quotes the National Enquirer but says she never 'reads that rag.' She posts 'I hear' tidbits on these boards night and day. She says she has a husband, who must by now have long since forgotten what it means to have a wife.

She's 'wrangling the grandchild' while glued to the Democratic Convention. She grandly announced recently that she will not vote for Sen. Obama because he voted a certain way on abortion.
Months ago she said she doesn't want 'medicare' and cited Britain and Canada as health care failures.

loriw says she is supporting her daughter through college and her son-in-law is serving in Iraq. She mentioned that he 'promised' his wife that hell be faithful to her.. This nosy mother-in-law told us her daughter woul;d be calling her husband in Iraq to ask him about contacts between American soldiers and Iraqi women. Just what a loving wife would ask a husband who's serving in Iraq where Americans are dying every week.

loriw loves to hate adulterers and liars, i.e. Clintons and Edwards. McCain gets a pass because he may have committed adultery but she says he didn't lie about it to the American people.

Fact or fiction, it's pretty much the same for loriw.

T.O. Hey, I've got a question for you. Before the question though, I want to give you a sincere compliment. You are one of the few participants, in this little forum at NewsWeak, that I always look forward to your comments...I truly missed your presence when you took your hiatus. I also really enjoy playing around with you. It is always funny. But I am really serious about this....that is if you don't mind my asking.

That said.....I actually have two questions. You have as much real disgust, for the Clintons, as HolyRoller does The False One, Hussein Obama. Your feelings are quite evident, but your reasons are cloudy. I think it has to be more than a disagreement on policy. Surely it is not because of Slick Willy's escapades. It appears to me to be quite personal. I'm very curious......HAVE YOU EVER HAD PERSONAL DEALINGS WITH THEM??? I think you may have. Really curious about this. I hope you don't mind my asking.

Second question...it has to do with your stated support for Jr. Senator Hussein Obama. Your love for our nation, is very evident to me. Your acknowledgement.....of the clear and present danger, present to our homeland, by Islamic thugs is also easy to see. You are open about being an Independent, but you are supporting...what I see as a roll of the dice, AT BEST, in Hussein. He is one very huge question mark. His past slimeball associations alone is a risk. They are in no way incidental or insignificant. That many, that radical is troubling to me. And that is just one, of dozens of questions about him.

I understand the youth vote. I understand the black pride vote. I understand the far left liberal vote. I understand the Yellow Dog vote. Your vote though befuddles me. My take on Tired and Old is as follows. You are mature. A veteran, a patriot, a moderate, a hard worker, and a realist. I'm quite surprised you are not a Johm McCain supporter.

near McCain seems to me to be a perfect candidate for you. Sen. John McCain is much more moderate, than Hussein Obama. He has more real experience,in all areas of importance. And I just think you agree...there is NO substitute for experience. McCain is among the toughest S.O.B.'s on the planet. He has endured and overcome more adversity than words can ever describe. We need that willpower in the position of Commander-In-Chief. McCain has lost nothing mentally. His mind is as sharp as a tack. That was evident at the Saddleback forum. McCains life and political experiences, give him a rare insight into the world we live in. We are living in a very dangerous world. America needs a leader with the qualities that John McCain has.....

So here is my question. Why do you support Hussein Obama?? I would really like to know, as I don't think you have ever stated.

Anyway...my lady said she thinks she just heard that McCain is announcing his VP any minute. Gotta turn on FOX. FOX News is a lot like HolyRoller...Fair and Balanced fair and balanced.

      NOBAMA!!!

        HOLY !

I AM IMPRESSED, VERY IMPRESSED WITH THIS POST.

        YOU DO UNDERSTAND ME !

I WORK MY BUTT OFF IN RETIREMENT, JUST BUILT A NEW PORCH ON MY HOUSE AND WORK HARD ON MY LANDSCAPE AND HARDSCAPE YARD. THUS THE TIME OFF BLOGGING.

I AM A FAMILY MAN VERY PRIVATE IN LIFE.

LET ME ANSWER THE QUESTION : WHY -- OBAMA ?

        EVERY ELECTION ITS THE SAME OLD S H I T , WHICH ONE ?

I WANT EVERYTHING TO BE GOOD FOR THIS COUNTRY AND MY CHILDREN AND GRAND KIDS.

I VOTED FOR BUSH, NO REGRETS AT THE TIME; WE NEEDED A STRONG LEADER TO FIGHT TERRORISTS AND P U S S Y G(AL)ORE WAS NOT A STRONG LEADER.

I BELIEVE IT WAS A GOOD THING TO SEE SADDAM GO BYE BYE.

I WAS ASKED TO GO TO DEMOCRATIC CAUCUS AND I SAID I WOULD, I FORGOT WHEN IT WAS TIME. I RECEIVED A CALL MINUTES ; BEFORE, THE AFFAIR STARTED AND WAS REMINDED OF THE EVENT.

I RACED TO THE EVENT AND WANTING CHANGE FOR THE BETTER, I DECIDED TO REGISTER AS A DEMOCRAT TO PARTICIPATE ( HAD TO ).

THE SECOND QUESTION WILL BE ANSWERED : I WOULD HAVE VOTED FOR ANYONE OTHER THAN THE EVIL UGLY WITCH HILLARY, THUS MY VOTE FOR OBAMA.

THE REASON I HATE THE CLINTONS IS VERY SIMPLE.

MY CAREER WAS LAW ENFORCEMENT AND I WORKED AROUND THE CLINTONS.

        ENOUGH SAID ON THAT POINT.

THE CLINTONS DO WHAT THEY WANT, NO RESPECT FOR ANYONE , THEY ARE AS CROOKED AS THE DAY IS LONG.

TO KNOW THESE PEOPLE AND HOW THEY ARE ( SELF CENTERED ) IS TO HATE THEM WITH EVERY FIBER OF MY BODY.

        I CAN BE A MEAN SON OF A B I T C H ; BUT I DO CARE IN THE LONG RUN.

I TRULY BELIEVE THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEATH OF VINCE FOSTER, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. AND YES ! I BELIEVE THEIR LOYAL SUPPORTERS ARE CAPABLE OF MURDER.

THE ECONOMY GOING DOWN THE TUBE, MY CHILDREN AND THEIRS ARE PAYING A PRICE.

THATS WHY I AM VOTING FOR OBAMA.

EVERYTHING I HAVE SAID ON THE BLOGS IS HONEST, EXCEPT, FOR THE EMBELLISHED STUFF I COPIED FROM HILLARY CLINTON . I WILL FIGHT THIS WITCH WITH HER WEAPONS.

HOLY ! PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE YOU READ THIS AND I DO HAVE A RESPECT FOR YOUR HONEST POST ------ YOU ARE A FRIEND.

          tired and old -

If, as you say, your career was in law enforcement, then I do have respect for you.

I am not a Clinton supporter, and I have, in my own mind, criticized several of their actions..

But I do wonder why almost every one of your posts demonstrates an irrational preoccupation with calling Hillary ugly, a witch, etc. Is that really recessary?

And why do you appear to revel in your sleazy comments about Bill Clinton? Yes, his alleged and probably true sexual abuse actions were reprehensible. But is it really necessary for you as a grown man, to fixate on and poke fun at his sexual organ and post numerous juvenile quips in that regard?

While you were employed in your law enforcement activities, did your daily reports (please correct me if I am wrong here - you did have to file them, didn't you?) include the terms ugly, witch, and other demonstrated terms of hatred? Isn't it a requirement that a law enforcement official have the discipline to conduct their activities in an often very difficult respectful manner?

If so, as a person, why would you decide to change your behaviour upon retirement?
Wouldn't you have incorporated that impartiality into your own defining personality? Is it really necessary for you to demonstrate hatred to anyone? Are you not better than that? I believe that you could be!

With regard to the deterioration of the economy, didn't that begin shortly after the democrats gained control of Congress in 2006? If so, why blame the Republicans for that?

Drawing on your experience as a law enforcement employee, I would expect that you would be able to identify a dishonest "slick salesman type" from "a mile away". Which of the 2 candidates for the presidency do you think would fit the mould of a dishonest slick salesman who is trying to deceive the voting public?

If you would care to reply, I would appreciate that.

          Blog on!

There never should have been a surge as there never should have been a war!
Its that simple- so your saying we need a president who gets us into uneeded difficult wars
only to surge his way to victory! Your crazy- its that simple. The word facsist comes to mind!

    • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 08/28/2008 3:27:27 PM

First, both democrat and republican congressmen voted to go to war. Many other countries did so as well after Iraq failed to comply with UN demands (of course you extremists forget everyone involved in the decision because it doesn't suit your hate Bush mentality).

Second - as a reply to your "fascist" statement: a government forcing its citizens into its programs, while enlarging government control over every aspect of your life, effectively becoming a nanny state.... That is called Communism.

      • Posted By: NewsWkDickG @ 08/28/2008 4:23:26 PM

You are obviously very strongly committed to your position and that is fine but I think when you state things you should consider all of the facts in order to have any credibility. To ignore that attacking Iraq was falsely justified and aggressively pushed by the Bush admin really explains how many people supported it then but wished they had the chance to do it over again and also why so many people so strongly disrespect and dislike Bush. Dishonesty has a way of allienating people and gross dishonesty can create some rather strong feelings. In any case, Semper Fi

        • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 08/29/2008 9:36:15 AM

And to dishonestly and consistently blame the current administration, when in fact ignoring that both parties and the majority of the rest of the world decided to go into this war, discredits anything you have to say and simply shows your comments for what they are - manipulated to suit your agenda.

Bottom line - we went in. right or wrong based on what we know now is irrelevant. Do we need to get out - yes, but we need to di it right, not just cut in run or a vacuume will be created and an even bigger mess will result.

The big picture seems to elude many here....

Yes I am passionate about our freedoms and will fight against any party that wants to instill socialism/communism/dictatorship, etc into our way of life. I have fought and bled for freedom and would rather be considered a criminal than to subject myself to a government trying to impose it's will on us.

      • Posted By: NewsWkDickG @ 08/28/2008 4:25:27 PM

Also, you are being quite extreme and unreal with your second point, which tends to make it ignored.

Who cares about the war if you don't have a job! We won the war, troups will be coming home soon. Vote on the economy. Vote for someone who VALUES success and rewards success and not FAILURE.

If you want MORE successes in the US don't penalize the wealthy and don't REWARD the poor. It's a party of the truly BRAIN DEAD!

      • Posted By: TheVigil @ 08/28/2008 4:10:47 PM

As I've said before, your definition of "success" is highly idealized and out of touch with economic realities in the bigger picture.

In a perfect system, yes, it is economically harmful to penalize success, and those who are legitimately contributing *real* economic goods and services to the economy.

In reality, we have a system whereby many activities that are *extremely* harmful to the larger economy as a whole - monopolistic business practices, predatory lending, parasitic investment strategy (you could tell us a lot about this last one) - produce economic "success" - or more accurately the accumulation of personal wealth at a DIRECT LOSS to the rest of the economy. In a perfect world the amount of wealth attributing to an individual would directly correspond to the amount of wealth he/she provides to the larger economy as a whole. In reality a lot of the wealth accumulation does nothing of the sort.

Your entire economic understanding is based around the idea that someone who makes more money is automatically a success AND a benefit to the larger economy as a whole. This is only true if this person is also producing REAL GOODS AND SERVICES that contribute tangible benefit to the larger economy. Your company is a case in point - you make money, your company makes money, your employees make money, and etc., but all that money *comes* from somewhere. It comes from customers paying you for your software - an economic loss for them - which they then attempt to recoup by engaging in day trading *using* your software. They can only achieve a profit doing this by taking money out of company valuations and long-term investors' portfolios. There is NO REAL ECONOMIC SERVICE provided by what you do - it's essentially margin skimming. As I've noted, no company can do anything worthwhile with a change in valuation that lasts half an hour.

I wouldn't exactly support forcibly taking your money away, but I *do* think day trading should be made illegal.

Like I keep saying, it seems that you've absorbed a large number of the microeconomic lessons that are taught in schools and thrown the macroeconomic lessons out the window. You need to learn what a negative externality is, as well as what X-inefficiency is. You also can't see anything beyond your own pocketbook, which is very dangerous. You should be more conscious of what's happening to the middle class in America, because unless I miss my guess, that's a large part of who your customer base is. Unless something is done to restore the solvency of the major part of the middle class, you and the rest of the entire economy are going to see massive drops in profits to the point of potential insolvency as your customer base goes out the window.

      • Posted By: sjpersonal @ 08/28/2008 12:05:31 PM

        Just an FYI,

Loriw absolutely hates the Clintons with a passion. She expressed this fact over and over and over again during the primaries. During the primaries Obama was fine with her it was just all about making sure that "The Clintons" never went anywhere near the white house, she stated that if Obama were to choose Clinton as his VP that she would vote for McCain. Then she started criticizing Obama as soon as it was announced that Clinton would be campaigning for him.

Lori's vote for McCain rests soley on the fact that Obama is not behaving as though he hates the Clintons. It is all about hating the Clintons, if you could find all of her posts during the primary that is all that you would read is how much she detests Hillary and Bill.

        • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 08/28/2008 2:21:38 PM

loriw months ago said no way she'd agree to government funded health care in the USA. . She went so far as to criticize the quality of health care in Britain and Canada. .

loriw is an opinionated, self-righteous, big mouth, on these boards night and day bashing Democrats. She endlessly moralizes.

Recently she said she will not vote for Sen. Obama because of his stance on abortion.

loriw passes herself off as an RN. She says she works two jobs, is a 'nurse saving lives'. but adds,

A little off topic, but based on many blind Obama worshipping comments on this board it bears repeating ( to a couple of you - and you know who you are, I use your terms.... Pay attention and listen):

I have posted this before, but many blind Obama worshippers and extreme liberals don???t seem to understand history and the lessons we should be learning. It doesn't matter whether you are Democrat of Republican. Facts are facts!!!

    Our Social Security

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be completely voluntary.

2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual incomes into the Program,

3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year,

4.) That the money the participants put into the Independent Trust Fund' rather than into the General Operating Fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other government program, and,

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the federal government to 'put away', you may be interested in the following (Again extreme liberals still won???t undertand):

Q: Which political party took Social Security from the Independent 'Trust Fund' and put it in to the General Fund so that Congress could spend it?
A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the Democratically- controlled House and Senate.

Q: Which political party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?
    A: The Democratic Party.

Q: Which political party started taxing Social Security annuities?
A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the 'tie-breaking' deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the U.S.

Q: Which political party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?
A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, they began to receive Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them
even though they never paid a dime into it!

Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away! And the worst part about it is, uninformed citizens believe it!

PLUS CONGRESS GIVES THEMSELVES 100% RETIREMENT
    FOR ONLY SERVING ONE TERM!!!

And we are supposed to believe them again ??? And let them socialize even more aspects of our lives????

???A government big enough to give you everything you want,
is strong enough to take everything you have.???
    -Thomas Jefferson

The Democrats are THIEVES and a party full of life's dropouts.

      • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 08/28/2008 4:55:16 PM

I wouldn't go as far to say all republicans or all democrats are thieves or liars. Problem is that our politicians have made good sport of being both in order to maintain a position of power. The reason for my post above was to show these extremists how their theories about "socialization" just doesn't work. Social Security wasn't managed as they promised, Medicare is a joke, and pretty much anything they get their hands on turns to $hit. Why would we want to empower them to take even more control of our lives when they have proven themselves inadequate thus far? Unfortunately, many "EXTREMISTS" are blind enough, not educated in history, or just plain stupid enough that they feel that socialism or communism is stepping into the future.

        • Posted By: NewsWkDickG @ 08/28/2008 5:19:56 PM

Your problem is in not seeing the EXTREMISTS that are power now, in not seeing the power they have and how big they are (the Bush admin has spent more, incl on pork barrel, than any before, even excluding the war) and with only benefit for Special Interests and a select few. Our need isn't for bigger government or even more socialistic government but rather for more RESPONSIBLE government, fairly and equitably governing. We desperately need change and it scares me whenever people try to rationalize that we don't!

          • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 08/28/2008 5:38:50 PM

and what of the extremists who are seeking power now? The ones who want to force their policies down our throats in the form of socialism. What about all the pork behind democrat congressmen and their agendas?

I agree with a comment you made.... government of the people for the people - just as it started out. Problem is that both parties are run by special interest groups, both add pork to their bills, both lie, both decieve. Some people simply fail to recognize that the blame goes to both sides. Obama is no different, McCain is no different. Now it comes down to who will screw things up the least. We should - as a people - be holding our congressmen accountable instead of blaming the president for everything. he is more or less a scapegoat (Dem or Rep) for the actions of our corrupt congress and their inadequate decisions and bickering....

            • Posted By: NewsWkDickG @ 08/28/2008 5:59:03 PM

There you go again being the extremist. You are drastically exaggerating when you say they want to force socialism down our throats. You may feel that kind of stuff supports your position but actually it detracts. You are right though when you infer both parties are susceptible and that is exactly why you can't let one get cocky, one feel they don't answer to the people but instead are able to manipulate the people - that is exactly where the Republicans are today. They have to be put in their place, we have to refuse to let them do whatever they want .. and the only way to accomplish that is to elect the Democrats.

              • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 08/29/2008 9:28:31 AM

and the vicious political cycle continues...... Rather than hold congress responsible by voting them out if they don't represent the people's will, we chose to get the republicans out of the presidency. Then a few years later we do it to the democrats, then back to the republicans - all in the name of sending a message. Forget what it does to the country, as long as we teach a party a lesson. Who is being the extremist now dick? You would have us accept a socialistic phylosophy just to teach a party a lesson?

                NO THANKS

      • Posted By: NewsWkDickG @ 08/28/2008 4:56:17 PM

I don't think you should try to make it a Democrat v Republican or a liberal v conservative issue. The dishonesty, actually gross dishonesty and the focus on only Special Interests and a select few, excluding all average Americans (Democrats, Republicans, Independents,, ), is neither a Republican nor a Democratic philosophy but rather the philosophy of a greedy bunch who have been able to grow their power. If McCain advocated a complete abandonment of those positions and a rational return to a government of the people, for the people and by the people I'd personally advocate considering him. But just power corrupts and complete power completely corrupts, they just don't give it up easily and it has to be taken away from them.

PRESIDENT CLINTON and HILLARY CLINTON demonstrated what we all ADMIRE in politics: STATESMANSHIP and PRESENCE. It roused spontaneous joy and admiration and enthusiasm like no egotist Obama could every portray or incite.
It was heartwarming to watch both Bill and Hillary show Obama and his ''bots'' what it means to put the welfare of others before your own self by faith in CONVICTIONS for the good of all.
But I will NOT vote for Obama, even after hearing a fabulous speech by President Clinton on behalf of this CARIACATURE of a candidate, who has no objective in mind other than his own EXALTATION
I cannot even bring myself to endure his TEMPLE OF THE MESSIAH speech on Thursday.

We (the US) looked weak and vulnerable during the recent military escalation in US-allied Georgia.
Our troops should have been able to deploy immediately to defend agaiinst Russian aggression, instead we are still in Iraq because there is no leadership in the White House to transition our troops out of there and re-deploy them to Afghanistan and places like Georgia that need them. Many US civilians have been killed by this war, not just our blessed troops. If Bush were my boss at work, I would quit my job and work for a business run by an Obama or Clinton. I'm sorry, but he sucks.

Well, since you have such extensive knowledge of them both, you must be posting from the family suite in Denver, no? What she "feel" about America is pride (not hubris), gratitude and commitment. If all you can slam her for is one statement taken out of context, then I think she's doing just fine.

      • Posted By: CW from Ohio @ 08/26/2008 2:17:13 PM

Actually its NOT just one comment.....she said America "is a mean country" also.....she also wrote some college papers that states how SHE feels about America.....its not JUST ONE THING.....and her husband, likewise.....he doesn't wear a flag pin nor salute the flag....He loves other countries and cares about WHAT THEY think about him more than the AMERICANS who are going to be VOTING FOR HIM.....WHAT does THAT tell you? His goal is his 3rd world policies.....that he wants to place on America as a punishment of some sort....a revenge.....SURE OTHER COUNTRIES WANT HIM TO BE OUR PRESIDENT !!!!! Terrorists love him.....they WANT to take down America.....

Yes, America IS NOT PERFECT, and neither is ANY other country....neither is ANY political candidate....But how on earth can you expect to do and say the things they have DONE and SAID and then just think they do not matter to AMERICANS when they hear them? They are telling US they HATE AMERICA.....and YET.....there are still SOME OF US who are going to VOTE FOR THEM??????? You cannot say you weren't told I guess ?????

Ossetia/Poland and see what happens to you. This ain't the WWII era anymore. Other countries DO matter--ever heard of the global economy? American businesses decide to outsource, not the workers. Flag pins do not solve mortgage, employment, gas, health care, deficits, etc. . Obama, HRC, McCain or any other person isn't going to bring this country down by themselves. • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 08/26/2008 9:14:23 AM

I found the whole thing so staged and unbelievably boring that I could not watch it.

Neither Michelle nor Barack understand the way business and industry work in the US. It isn't surprising that working stiffs don't identify with them. They know that to rebuild industry in America, you have to get companies to reinvest, retool, retrain their workers, and upgrade their production machinery. They know that raising corporate taxes to pay for new social programs won't get companies to invest here. What they see is jobs in new government bureaucracies, not highly paid highly trained union jobs. No wonder these voters are turning toward McCain.

    • Posted By: bennettsusan @ 08/26/2008 12:42:55 PM

Do you really believe that giving corporations lower taxes and less regulation will result in "highly paid, highly trained union" jobs? If so, you have not been paying much attention these past eight years. Sure, corporations are more likely to stay US based if we charge them fewer taxes and allow them to pollute our skies, ground and water more freely. Especially if they are allowed to continue shipping overseas these very jobs you are refering to. You see, they cannot stay competitive in the global market if they have to deal with America's unions at all. Until developing countries, like China, reach the point when their workers demand higher wages, the US will not be able to compete in manufacturing. We Americans want it all. We want the accessibility of lower priced goods and we want high paying manufacturing jobs.

The Bush Administration, and McCain, who is offering more of the same, had been pointing to growth in the economy through much of it's tenure, while unemployed ex-union workers can't find employment that will pay for the lives they had with those inflated union salaries. This is because overall there had been growth in the economy. It's just that the reapers of that growth went to a far smaller percentage of the population. In the past 6 years, 80% of the growth went to less than 1% of the population. The Republicans simply aren't concerned about those kind of specifics. They believe that it's every man for himself. If you didn't get your piece of the pie, than shame on you. The problem I have with this is that our forefathers couldn't possibly have foreseen the existance of corporate America. To give the money machine every advantage to produce more money, with fewer restrictions, does not filter down overall. We have the largest gap in wealth distribution than we have ever had in this country.

The emergence of the global economy is not a Rep or Dem issue. It simply is one the US needs to find it's nitch in. Developing jobs that demand a level of skill we can retrain people for that cannot be replicated overseas is one answer. This requires those ex union manufacturing workers to be flexible and accept that they are never going to return to the good old days. They can be good again, just different and will require determination and effort to get there. Another way is if our government invests in our crumbling infrastructure and replaces bridges, roads etc. This would also create good paying jobs that obviously can't be shipped overseas. Sure, these are government contract jobs, but what is wrong with that?

      • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 08/29/2008 8:45:05 AM

Unions had a time and place in history - when companies were abusing employees to the point of slavery. In todays society, Unions are NOT always the best thing anymore. People who have been in Unions are now overprotected to the point where they feel "safe" and if they aren't performing very well that's ok so long as thy are senior to someone else inthe union. One big vicious circle.

Most of our problems with companies grew even larger when the government stepped in and started regulating everything. Imagine the lack of advancement the US would have had, had the government always been regulating everything. The light bulb most likely wouldn't have been produced for fear of hurting the environment. Automobiles wouldn't have been produced, etc.... We have regulated ourtselves to a stand still. That coupled with special interest groups getting in the way. You fools cry that the "current administration" is to blame for everything you concieve as being wrong. Yet you allow corrupt self serving congressmen and women to block any attempt companies try to make your life better. Then bitch about jobs going overseas and make it out to be the company's fault. Start looking in the mirror. If you support special interest groups and allow congressmen to go unchecked - the blame is in the mirror.

Ha! Shall we start listing the Republicans who have spent considerable time in court and jail this past few years? I am not defending anyone's bad decisions, Dem or Rep, but which is worse? John Edwards and Bill Clinton's womanizing is despicable but it's effects are confined to their families and that is why they are not in jail. It seemed like every month there has been another Rep indicted for some kind of fraud. This has effected the entire nation. As far as "being like you and me".....who really thinks it's a good idea for the common man/woman to be president of the USA? That is positively idiotic. OH...and the 4 million dollars you reference? Who gave it to them? NOBODY. They earned every penny themselves. Any idea how difficult it is to get into Harvard law and on scholarship no less? Please don't use affirmative action to explain it. You don't become the youngest editor of the Harvard Law Review because of Affirmative Action. I don't understand how it has become fashionable to deride someone for their accomplishments against all odds. Can you please explain this to me?

You comment about Michelle's speech being "scripted" is also ridiculous. Of course it is scripted! Do you possibly truly believe that speeches are ever not scripted? Sorry, but your unintelligient comments are the far reaching babble of someone who just doesn't like the Obama's...period. I would respect that position far more if you actually came up with valid reasons why instead of this lame post.

T.O. read your reply. Thanks, a lot. Your reply confirmed some of my thoughts. As for this election...I truly believe this is a pivotal decision point, in the future and security of our great nation.

Watching Hussein tonight....he makes me want to gag. I don't think he can say five sentences in a row without lying. Rhetoric, rhetoric, rhetoric.....and an empty suit. I'm so looking forward to the Republican Convention. That is when the truth about who and what, Hussein actually is, will begin to be actually revealed, to America . Had to let him be the official nominee first. Much of the country is going to be shocked. Much of it has been alluded to already, but not forcefully shown. Hussein's vetting will make the Kerry swiftboats look like little rubber duckies.

Well enough about that. I have a long day tomorrow, and I want to hear the media responses, to The False Ones rhetorical half truths.

But again...thanks a lot. You've got a friend in HolyRoller and looking forward to speaking again soon.

      NOBAMA!!!
