    Does experience count when it comes to job of being president?
    Not really, because our government is made up of a system of checks and balances, which makes the power of the President very limited.

    First of all, the president can make very few decisions pertaining to the country without the support of the house and senate. Secondly, the president has a multitude of very experienced advisors who provide information and opinions on each situation presented. No President operates without the counsel of the most knowledgeable advisors in the country.

    In addition, the job of President is more one of appearance, representation, and leadership than it is decision maker. The President must be someone who is respectable, and pragmatic. The President must also be someone who represents the ideas and beliefs of the country, and above all else the President must be viewed as a strong and vibrant leader by the world.

    America needs someone who can come up with a new idea and then set the wheels in motion to develop that idea. We need someone who has the intelligence and vitality to look toward the future and see change. Not someone so old and outdated that they believe in that "if it ain't broke don't fix it" ideology.

    America needs someone who can relate to the working class citizen, and is willing to stand up to the wealth mongers and say give up one or two of your houses, so that the backbone of America can afford to have at least one. We need someone who will put down their fist and say the rich are rich enough, now let's help the little guy. We need someone who will stop allowing businesses to find it more profitable to sell our jobs to overseas markets. America needs someone who will support change and not resist it.

    McCain may have more so called experience, but his ways are what has put this country in the rich getting richer while the poor get poorer state that it is in. Not to mention that he is of the age that would rather leave things as they are because it is easier for them to understand.

    Obama has displayed the courage to stand up for his belief in a country where any person can succeed if they are willing to work at it. This is the kind of leadership we need in our President.

    Television stations and Newspaper owners are wealthy people. They control most of what we see and hear about the politics in this country. While they may pretend to be impartial when they report on the candidates, do you really believe they would be fair to someone who might take a few dollars out of their pockets? TV and Newspaper Ads are not to be believed. Commentators are not credible either as they report what they are told to report. Listen to the candidates, and make your decision on what you hear from them.

    If you are not happy with the way things are in this country, you must vote for Obama! McCain will not support change, because old people always resist change. That is not meant to be mean, it is the simple truth.

      kathy, you started off strong with valid points and just as most far left wing liberals do you went south quickly. Good tactic the way you started but some of us can see through the same ol same ol tactics your type uses.

      Obama "displayed the courage to stand up for his belief in a country"? Hello, Obama wants to change the country into a socialistic state. Where is the belief in country? His wife "has never before been proud of her country". "Change, change change" - but nothing of substance mentioned. Only change is lets make everything socialist. Enough said

      • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 08/27/2008 11:41:27 PM

        Michelle Obama is proud of her country and her husband. And rightly so.

        What is your definition of 'socialistic' spending? Billions spent on health care, education, roads,
        infrastructure, etc.? Or $10 billion a month to 'win' in Iraq?

        • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 08/28/2008 1:04:00 PM

          First reply addressed the "socialism". As for the spending on the war. Guess what, war cost money. Like it or not, we went to war. Both republican and democratic parties in congress voted to do so all the blame game crap is just that - crap. Is war good - hell no. Is it necessary - sometimes. Criticize Bush all you want - and yes he has made mistakes. But one thing you can not argue about is that terrorists have NOT been attacking our soil since we went to war. History can not say that about Clintons administration. Diplomacy is a great thing and can keep wars from getting started - and should be tried. But there is a point when diplomacy fails and further attempts is futile. When you are dealing with people whose only agenda is to see you dead because you are different from them, you are free, you aren't under their thumb, etc... well diplomacy will only take you so far. If you aren't prepared and capable to use force, you will lose your freedoms or even your lives. This is a point that falls on deaf ears amoung extreme liberals.

          • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 08/28/2008 9:22:49 PM

            Terrorists haven't 'attacked American soil, instead they've been killing Americans in Iraq. How many more before it is 5,000? Those lives count, too. How many more Americans need to be killed by 'terrorists' before the USA says that's it, get out. USA nuclear weapons and warpower cannot beat terrorists because: terrorists are expert at roadside bombings; (b) terrorists cannot be identified by a uniform.

            I agree some wars are necessary. The war in Iraq isn't one of them.

            • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 08/28/2008 11:11:34 PM

              what about the nearly 5000 lives that were killed during the Clinton administration because we did nothing to stop the terrorists? Why do those lives count for nothing in your eyes? Servicemen willingly go into battle and it is a risk we take. What about all the lives lost in automobiles? Will you fight to stop driving since we lose more lives on the road every month than we have during the entire war? You say the war was not justified, yet many of your elected officials thought otherwise (many democrats included) as well as leaders from many other nations. I guess you are more knowledgable than all of them huh....

        • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 08/28/2008 12:58:50 PM

          education, roads infastructure are one thing. That is a part of any developed nations role. Healthcare and some of this other crap - that becomes socialist. If you honestly believe that universal healthcare will make it less expensive then I suggest you take a good honest look at medicare and see how much more most seniors spend on that "forced" government program which is not run very efficiently. Look at Social Security which was originally installed by the Democratic Party. This "well run" government program is in dire straights. This program was originally pushed as being a way to take care of each other in our senior years. It was promised NEVER to be touched by any government spending programs. Yeah, we see how well that promise was kept. Then any attempt to help is met with resistance. Bush's administration came up with a plan to allow the individual to invest on their own (only 4%). If you do the math and put that 4% in a growth stock mutual fund rather than letting the government take care of it, that 4% would net a persom well over what their entire monthly entitlement from social security provides. But, extreme liberals and democrats fought against that because - the people just aren't smart enough or disciplined enough to take care of things themselves. After all, a person can not be allowed to fail..... and our politicians are jsut so much smarter than the rest of us..... So yes, many of the things they are proposing is SOCIALISM.

          • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 08/28/2008 9:33:49 PM

            Social security is different than universal health care. If your child or grandchild is born with a cleft palate and you can't afford to pay for surgery to repair it, what do you think should be done? In Scandinavia, Britain, Canada, even the Czech Republic, the surgery is covered by the health care system. No excuses.

            Is this sort of 'socialism' wrong in the rich, civilized USA? Selfishness is a sin. And God has a way of getting even.

    BARRY???S RUMINATIONS OF OBAMANATIONS_______________

    BAMBI probably did not think about the presidential office possibility when he wrote the book "Dreams From My Father" as it is laden with racist categorizations.

    Obama catagorizes people according to skin tone, as some are olive, pale, walnut, etc. Almost to the point of being laughable, if it was not so pathetic and scary. The last person to be that race obsessed in power started freakin' WWII and murdered millions of innocent people.

    My husband and I sat down one night and began counting how many times Obama used racial catagorization or referred to race in his book Dreams From My Father. There are racial references made 179 times in the first 110 pages.
    We got sick of counting at page 110 and sick of reading Obama's racial trashing.
    Black=70
    White=52
    Africa=5
    African=3
    African American=5
    Race=10
    Bitch=1
    N**ger=13
    "*** Eskimo"=1
    Japanese=1
    Asian=2
    racism=3
    racist=3
    colored=1
    green-eyed, honey skin, pouty Lips=1
    Dark and straight-backed=1
    Ugly Americans=1
    Native American=1
    French=1
    Italian=1
    Black Bondage=1
    Black Power=1
    White referenced as Devil=1
    Blue-eyed Devils=1
    Dark unblemished skin=1
    Black Power=1
    Racial Stock=1
    Brown and handsome=1
    Dark=1
    Milato=1
    Albino=1

    So what's up with the Eskimo Hating? Who knows. Obama is obsessed with skin color. As I said before I feel compelled to study this because my son has blue eyes. 'Nuff said.

    My point being is: I really do not think BO had his sights on the presidency when he wrote this book, as The Audacity of Hope is toned down from Dreams From My Father. Obama does include in Audacity that the Constitution could use a little improving.

    My point is further made by the fact that the Obama for President Website censored the guy that posted direct quotes from Obama's books within 36 hours.

    Obama's minions are banking on the fact that the bulk of the American public will rely on CNN for their information. That and most people are to stupid or busy to pick up Obama's book, as the liberals will just buy it so it's on their bookshelf and they can say they read it.

    The truth is the truth and the words that the guy posted were written by Obama.
    Obama has several "composite" figures in his book. The black nationalist "Rafiq" comes to mind. But in reading Obama's book, I get the sense that it is almost a conversation with himself. Obama is too fluent in the case of Black Nationalism for my comfort.

          How stupid does this statement sound?

          If your black and you don't vote McCain, you are showing how racist you are.

          Now switch black with white and McCain with Obama.

          Yup, it's your post!!!!!!!

          Still sounds stupid doesn't it?

          • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 08/27/2008 3:25:50 PM

            The problem is that so many of these people are going through life with blinders on. They are told what to think, what to say, what to believe. So when someone points out flaws in their belief system, they have no reasoning skills or abilities to engage in a debate, so the easiest, non thinking resort is to call everyone else a racist. This is their end all be all answer to everything

      Awful Attempt at branding Obama a Racist and Guess what...

      YOU FAILED !!!!!

      Keep Counting, keep spinning The Race Will of Hate...

      I bet you are related to those Racist Bastards who wanted to Do harm to Obama...

        If she is quoting from his book how does that make her a racist? Common sense would tell you that the writer was the racist. You try to silence by intimidation. It won't work.

        • Posted By: raddave @ 08/27/2008 1:25:19 PM

          catagorization or using referring to a race is not racist. This person did not put anything into context either, she just counted how many times he mentioned, black, white, etc... If he had written in his book something like Black people rule and white people drool, then that would be racist. But since he didn't say anything like that, you cannot classify him as racist.

          • Posted By: busby @ 08/27/2008 4:12:50 PM

            Okay, I'll classify him as obsessed with race. How's that?

        Why is it when a white person make a commint about Obama, that is anything but GLORIOUS, we are tagged as racist? We refuse to be led around by " the pied pipper" and have other views. That does not make us racist, it makes us intellegent.

    Biden gets an F on the Oral Exam for not knowing the name of the Presidential candidate on the ticket he is running against. Freudian slip? SENIOR MOMENT FOLKS! And this is the person that Obama will have as his right hand man if he runs the country of 57 states?

    • Posted By: chindognyc @ 08/28/2008 1:35:02 AM

      Biden will be way better than McCain or any other candidate McCain selects. Biden is not an elitist, he don't live in a mansion, he takes the train home, he has less than 10,000 dollars in his bank account, and he is one of us.
      McCain is not. He cheated on his first wife to be with a million dollar woman. Cindy was a junkie and got caught stealing drugs from her own organization, they thought it would be a good ideal to let Germany buy out Budweiser so Cindy could get millions, his shoes is worth more than you, they are investigating to see if he has illegal immagrants caring for his many homes in Arizona, he told the people in Michigan that their jobs are never coming back, and he said Martin Luther King does not deserve a national holiday because he is not patriotic.

      • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 08/28/2008 8:36:38 AM

        And Obana has a history of drug use and does live in mansions. So your arguement is weak.

    • Posted By: TheVigil @ 08/28/2008 2:14:44 AM

      You can't find anything better to criticize than that?

      Honestly, ma'am, that's just weak. I note you omit the rest of his speech where Biden was on fire and inspiring. It was indeed a Freudian slip - it shows more than anything that Joe Biden actually does believe his own rhetoric that McCain's presidency represents a continuation of Bush's policies. I hope you also note that said slip brought a chorus of cheers from the crowd in attendance.

      • Posted By: summer4077 @ 08/28/2008 9:34:03 AM

        As an aside...for any who have studied psychology...Freud's theories have been widely rejected as asinine and sometimes downright crazy. So I kind of chuckle every time I hear "freudian slip" because it's such bs.

        • Posted By: sjpersonal @ 08/28/2008 11:54:49 AM

          Just an FYI,

          Loriw absolutely hates the Clintons with a passion. She expressed this fact over and over and over again during the primaries. During the primaries Obama was fine with her it was just all about making sure that "The Clintons" never went anywhere near the white house, she stated that if Obama were to choose Clinton as his VP that she would vote for McCain. Then she started criticizing Obama as soon as it was announced that Clinton would be campaigning for him.

          Lori's vote rests soley on the fact that Obama is not behaving as though he detests the Clintons. It is all about hating the Clintons, if you could find all of her posts during the primary that is all that you would read is how much she detests Hillary and Bill.

          • Posted By: AskPlus @ 08/28/2008 1:23:08 PM

            Now it makes sense. I was wondering how someone could be so awful to a person they do not know. Ms. Lori goes a little crazy with her dislike for the Clinton's. Gov. Sebelius had it right when she said these "types" of people just don't exist. There is something very wrong going on, and it probably starts with the RNC.

      Hi loriw, which slip you referring too? The one where he mispronounced Baracks name tonight (put wrong emphasis at the end of his last name) or the blup he made a few days back calling him BARACKAMERICA ? LOL.

      I think what they are saying on CNN is correct. They have to come up with some way of going against McCain cuz the talk about McCain is just another 4 years of Bush is not working based on the polls.

      You are also right about the age thing, OB and camp wont be as focused on McCains age and him LOSING HIS BEARINGS (remember that one? That must have went over good in the older voters segment that he already does not have in his cam.

      Also, the whole thing about McCain voting on the Iraq war will fade out you would think given that BIDEN voted Yes for the Iraq War.

      From what the pundits are saying and based on Bidens talk tonite they think they will be hitting him on JUDGMENT. I say that wont work cuz look at all of the decisions Obama has made that calls attention to his bad judgment and that is on top of not even having enough accomplishments or experience to even make anywhere near as many decision McCain has had to made being in Washington writing and passing legislature self led by himself, etc. Any attack on McCains judgment the repugs can shoot back using Obamas past list of controversial friends, felons, advisors, pastors, etc. I think that given the McSame or McLame thing has not worked up to this point they are now scratching their head trying to figure out how they are going to beat this guy down. It will be interesting to see how the O camp goes about it as we move into the next few months or so leading to the GE.

      • Posted By: loriw @ 08/28/2008 12:58:13 AM

        Tonight in his speech,Biden called his opponent "George" then hesitated briefly and called it a Freudian slip. There have been so many mis-speaks from that ticket tho it is getting nearly impossible to keep track of them all.

        • Posted By: sharenews @ 08/28/2008 1:20:02 AM

          Oh I heard that, I thought that was a joke, though. e.g. given George =John and John = Bush in the democrats thinking. There was one point also where he misprounced Baracks name weirdly . . cant remember exactly be he said it with different emphasis towards end of his name. It will be interesting to hear what comes out of Bidens mouth as we move through the next few months given he is such a gaffe machine. LOL. Although maybe David MiricleWorker Axelrod will make all those things go away. ; 0 D

          • Posted By: TheVigil @ 08/28/2008 2:17:31 AM

            I note that neither one of you seemed to note that said "gaffe" had the crowd there absolutely cheering.

            That's a positive on the approval rating for Biden, not a negative.

              Huh? I identified it as a bloop in that he said what he said ON PURPOSE, thus the people laughing. If you were doing other things while he was talking you could have missed that one, but yeah, I think he said it on purpose. Not sure what you are referring to at least in what I stated in response to Loriw. . . .

              • Posted By: sharenews @ 08/28/2008 3:08:05 AM

                . . . given that I said it was a joke I did not have to go into the audience laughing. You Obamabots are so sensitive. LOL.

                • Posted By: TheVigil @ 08/28/2008 3:15:14 AM

                  Not really. You just want to portray us that way because it helps project the image that somehow you guys are "strong" and we're "weak". The reality is that people who really are strong don't have to scream about it all the time or demean people they don't agree with.

                  Biden's slip wasn't a joke - it was a genuine Freudian slip - it was just that the crowd started laughing and cheering because the sentiment echoed what so many of them were feeling inside.

                  • Posted By: sharenews @ 08/28/2008 3:33:03 AM

                    Honestly, Vigil, I really did think Biden was just joking. You dont have to believe me, but that was the case with the reasoning that he was assimilating that the name George equals the name John in the White House when referring to either name. For what it is worth, I laughed with the gaffe and with Biden . . .

        The polls I saw, McCain is down big time. BIG TIME!!!!!!!

        • Posted By: sharenews @ 08/28/2008 1:31:54 AM

          Which poll? The main ones I look at are the Gallup poll and the Rasmussen poll. Im sure there are others. Which one are you referring to.? They are either tied or a point off in Obamas favor with these two polls as of Thurs August 27. After Bills speech tonite I would think we will see a pretty good bump tomorrow; but then I thought we would see a bump after Hillarys speech the other nite. As we go into the weekend Im sure that the democ. and repub gap will grow quite a bit if the convention was successful. Then McCain will have his convention and same thing will happen and then they will adjust accordingly. Remember the big bump with Obama when he went on his rock tour? After that he did same major dropping as time went on.

            I saw it earlier. It might have been a swing state. It might have been PA. I do know that he was winning big time.

            • Posted By: sharenews @ 08/28/2008 2:46:39 AM

              Yes , you are correct that PA is an important state to win and picking Biden who is either from Scranton PA or lived there most of his life could have a very positive affect. But picking Biden also was a good choice given he has at least some foreign policy background on committees and interaction with leaders to some extent overseas.

    OK. Bill we are watching you. Either you commit political Harry Carrey tonight or you fully, unconditionally, wholeheartedly, vigorously, passionately, lovingly, and earnestly embrace Senator Obama. This is your last chance. Here is what you better say:

    1. I know what it takes to be President of the USA
    2. I know Barack Obama
    3. I know that he has what it takes to be Commander in Chief
    4. I trust him
    5. I admire him
    6. He will never ever let you down
    7. These are him values
    8. These his experiences
    9. His goals, his vision.
    10. These are his core belifs.
    11. I support him, embrace him, and look forward to campaigning for him (if he lets me)

    We will all be watching to see if you deliver.

      His political career is over! He is a smart man and I truly believe he thinks all Democrats are CRAZY for supporting Obama who has never really accomplished anything and has NO EXPERIENCE.

      If Bill is telling the truth he'll step up there tonight and say "Good evening fellow Democrats. In the first time of my life I feel ASHAMED to be a Democrat. I brought you one of the biggest booming economies other than Reagan, the Republican Congress balanced the budget and I didn't interfere with them, we had HUGE growth during my term. My super intelligent wife offered to give you the same and you picked this moron black muslim. Experience counts, you can't elect a man just because he looks like Denzel!"

          Too bad that you can't see that what you want is called socialism. Too bad you don't read or understand anything about history. 8 years ago, we had a president so weak on national security that we were constantly attacked by terrorists. Historically, people have voted for those good speakers that made them feel warm and fuzzy - later enjoyed fear and suppression (i.e. Hitler).... Countries went from Czars (Royalty such as kings) to communism... yes the government took care of their health care and everything else. Historically we see how that worked out for the people....

            There are more billionaires in Russia today than in any other country on earth. Russia exports its oil to the whole of Western Europe.

            The spectacular opening and closing Olympic ceremonies in Beijing weren't Mao's China.

            Communist countries have changed since the Cold War. Their economies have grown and it is reflected in their improved standard of living.

        And then you phony want to know why I call you guys racist. What the hell was that. I guess Harriet Christian was right, if Obama becomes POTUS, then you will become second class citizens. Lord, we can't have those black folks be on top. Like Buchanan said, whites have treated blacks good. We should be glad that you came and made us slaves because now we can be America n citizens.

        • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 08/28/2008 9:44:55 AM

          First your ancestors were made slaves. Guess what, whites have been slaves throughout history too so you can get of that soap box.

          Secondly, if you feel that angry about your ancestors being forced to come to America - you are free to return to Africa. Having lived in several African countries, I definitely invite you to go back.... Just don't bitch later when you give up what you have only to find out how good you had it....

      Don't bet on it. Personally I think it will be Romney and that deal was struck when Romney dropped out, just like McCain got the support committed to him when in 2004 he threw his total and complete support behind Bush - if he didn't Bush was a looser.

      • Posted By: News and Notes @ 08/28/2008 6:36:26 PM

        McCain has plenty of deficits, but he would not pick a VP whom he can't stand. Romney will not be on the ticket

        • Posted By: tired and old @ 08/28/2008 7:25:01 PM

          MC SAME WOULD PICK THE DEVIL IN DRAG TO GET ELECTED.

          I CAN SEE HIM GO FOR A TOKEN WOMAN IN A SECOND.

    • Posted By: TheVigil @ 08/28/2008 6:46:33 PM

      If McCain goes with Liebermann hoping to win support from the left or center he's going to be in for a really nasty shock. The left despises Liebermann for his stance on the Iraq war and the right mistrusts him because of his past. The only significant support Joe Liebermann really has is the pro-Israeli contingent of Americans - who are substantial - but that group is already solidly in McCain's camp due to the Republican stated desire for a greater military alliance with Israel (which is massively unpalatable to a lot of other Americans).

      I think it would be a serious blunder for McCain's camp to choose Liebermann. I'm actually not sure he has any choices that substantially improve his credentials. Romney may be the safest pick as Mitt is actually a *very* solid economist and financial manager - I personally think he's a terrible choice on national security but many in the center don't - while Pawlenty has similar credentials but less exposure, though he's less offensive to some left-leaning independents and centrists who might be undecided than Romney.

      A lot of people think McCain might choose a woman in order to capitalize on the feeling that Hillary was cheated. The problem is that he doesn't have a lot of choices there who aren't incredibly controversial. Carly Fiorina's still somewhat unpalatable due to her board-spying scandal. Meg Whitman (former eBay CEO) would only enhance the perception of McCain as a scion of the super-rich. Condi Rice is just too tainted due to her long service with Bush's administration, which McCain can't afford to be implicated with. The most likely choice would be Kay Bailey Hutchinson, I think, if McCain goes that route, and she probably would be a popular choice for him.

      Unfortunately, the nativism that forms such a core of the Republican Party would probably rule out a choice like Colin Powell (unlikely too due to his Iraq War exposure but I'd certainly not mind seeing him as VP if McCain were to win) or Bobby Jindal, who would be great but would lose McCain serious points on the "experience" tip that forms so much a part of this year's debate. Jindal would probably win McCain votes on the left but *lose* them on the right, just because of his ethnicity and the nativist sentiment on the right these days.

      I would guess Pawlenty, Romney or Hutchinson as the most likely choices. Liebermann's name does keep getting tossed around, but I'm almost sure it would backlash on McCain. The majority of people solidly in Liebermann's camp are also in McCain's camp already, I think.

And you either go with the flow of Washington politics, or get ground up and spit out...It will take more than an attention getting, crowd pleasing, rock star status politician to change Washington, let alone to run a country..In a way I hope he gets in just to show the hoopla was for nothing and he is just as crooked as any other Dem liar thats been in office...Im sure Hill and Bill will be excited as soon as Obama screws up..And just like any other infighting Dem, be quick to point out his inability to run a country...

        Washington runs on a couple hundred years of depriving the people. That's exactly right, old politics. I guess you enjoyed Bush so much you would like to see more of it. Vote for McCain, vote for Bush again.

        Change is coming and there will be a restored America. There will be restored dignity in Government. Checks and Balance will be provided yet again once Bush and McCain's grimy hands no longer cover it. Oh yeah, Obama will secure the White House the same way he will secure the country. You'll see.

It is true about the sleaze he associated with (Rezko, Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, Rashid Khalidi, and others). Unfortunately Obamabots just dont get how dirty Obama really is; the extent he will go to for political gain and power. He has no morals, no integrety. Top all that off with him having the likes of Farrakhan, Hamas and other radicals and terrorists , albeit Obama denounced them, it is still scary. Not to mention on top of all THAT scary stuff he has minimal experience and self led accomplishments. Dems choose Obama in thunderous acclamation
    Yahoo News by David Espo, AP Special Correspondent Wed Aug 27, 7:18 PM ET

    Clinton's call for Obama to be approved by acclamation ??? midway through the traditional roll call of the states ??? was the culmination of a painstaking agreement worked out between the two camps to present a unified front.

    My commentary:

    So, democrats, in order to portray a false unification, schemed to allow politics to trump the democratic process.

    And they are insulted when people don???t refer to them as the democrat(ic) party!

    Yes, the truth is offensive to the democrat party!

    When you send our troops to war there should be a strategy to win, not simply making one up as you go along like GW Bush did. I don't know why the Democrats didn't use that picture of Bush with his 'Mission Accomplished" banner. Shame on the Republicans for lying about this war and losing focus on defeating the extremists in Afghanistan and Pakistan. I'll take Obama and Clinton over brown-noser McCain anyday!

              • Posted By: careerdaytrader @ 08/28/2008 3:17:54 PM

                Here's the thing that Democrats don't understand. You have two sets of people you BOTH consider rich.

                One is the guy like me who has worked hard his whole life and started making it a few years ago. My income last year was $330k and this year will end up around $450k. I have two houses and a net worth around $850k but I'm in my late 30s so consider myself doing ok.

                Obama taxing me $250,000 EXTRA over the next 4 years isn't JUST 1/4 of a MILLION dollars invested at 10% over 20 years he's costing me, my retirement and my kids $2 million dollars!

                And thats just for 4 years of his crazy high taxes.

                Rule of 72s, divide into 72 by the rate of return and it tells you how long it takes to double your money invested.

                The SECOND group of people are those who have $10 million+. They may also make $250,000 per year to $500,000 per year but it is the return on their wealth. Or its their income too. The point is its not fair to tax EITHER group more for being successful but its even more unfair to tax the guy who's trying to save up for a great retirement, bigger house, for kids college (that will be $250,000 per child when they go) and who knows how long FUTURE medicine will make people live. $10 million may not be enough if a person lives till they are 120 !

                It's my money, I earned it and I resent and actually HATE those who think I should give it to them THROUGH the national government!

                  I find it ironic that someone who does so much damage to the economy and taking so much away from it is the one most earnestly insisting he "earned" it. "It's my money, I got it by convincing people to hand over other money so that they could try to take away money from the stock market without giving anything back fair and square!"

                  However, for the sake of argument, let's assume for a second that you were running a company that made long-term investment software instead, or something else designed to aid legitimate business practices.

                  Taxed money doesn't just "disappear". It goes into public services - infrastructure, social programs, subsidies, etc. Money never "disappears". It circulates. The problems come in when money is given to those who fail to provide a corresponding good or service in response, and this can happen in both the private sector and government.

                  Right now, we have two major problems.

                  One is that money is being given to those who fail to provide a corresponding good or service to the economy - witness KBR being paid enormous sums in Iraq to provide bases that are literally killing our troops, like the Green Beret recently killed by faulty wiring in the shower of his shoddy Iraqi KBR-constructed Army Base. When this happens, what you have is a lot of people with a lot of numbers on paper, and no goods. To most clearly see the effect of this, take the idea to the extreme - let's pretend that all farmers were paid enormous subsidies not to grow crops for some political reason (which some already are). What you would have is a lot of farmers with a lot of money, and no food. Inflation would skyrocket as the owners of the few remaining grain barrels raise prices for scarce goods into the stratosphere, and so on, and mostly a lot of people just starve because there's nothing to eat.

                    Two is that money is increasingly not providing its main role as a LUBRICANT of barter due to the fact that there's no longer enough of it in the poor and middle classes in this country. Money is almost exactly like blood. It helps circulate vital goods and services (like food, clothing, shelter, energy, etc.) to families the exact way that blood provides oxygen and nutrients to cells. Without blood, cells die of hypoxia and malnutrition. Without money, people lose their livelihoods, homes, and food, at least in our modern economy. This implies that money works best and the economy GROWS best when there's enough money circulating through *all* families to keep them healthy - and this is very, very true, because the wealthy in this country SELL THEIR GOODS TO THE MIDDLE CLASS AND POOR! If you want to see an example of what happens to a country when its middle class moves to poverty instead, look at Mexico!

                    Look at Iraq! Modern economies are BUILT on the middle class! Right now, a lot of people aren't getting enough and a small group of people have way too much. And when that happens in an organism, with blood, a lot of cells
                    die of starvation and the ones where the blood has pooled run the risk of rupture - analogous to the starvation
                    that's going on in the poor and middle classes right now and the massive waste and corruption in the few who've
                    pooled all the money.

                    Quite honestly, man, you need to stop thinking with your dick and ego and with your pocketbook and wake up. If the middle class in this country disappears - which it's on its way to doing - it doesn't matter who taxes who because your profits are going to dry up due to the fact that your CUSTOMER BASE HAS DISAPPEARED. No First World economy can exist without a middle class. If I were you, and I REALLY wanted to make money, I'd try really really hard to find a way to enable the middle class again, because *that's* what's going to improve your company's bottom line. But given what you've said about your Panamanian corporation, it seems quite likely that all you'd do when the *** hits the fan is take the money you've squirreled out of our economy and skedaddle offshore, thereupon to prey on another economy the same way you do ours.

                    I just look forward to the day when most Americans get the kind of education they need (ironic given your stated desire to educate Americans) to actually understand economics and recognize economic parasites for what they are - and pry the bloodsucking out of their veins.

            Hi Ask,

            Yes this is exactly who McCain is. That is when he can remember to be!

            • Posted By: AskPlus @ 08/28/2008 1:44:59 PM

              Like I said, the good news is Mr. McCain will stand with Mr. Romney, who flipped on abortion and human rights, Mr. Lieberman, who flipped on affiliations and war, or Mr. Pawlenty, who just can't seem to remember if his father walked or didn't walk with MLK, then denied his B-day like Mr. McCain. If the ad goes supernova mean again like the Hilton ad, he may drop further in the polls while reinforcing Mr. Obama's hold on the Electoral.

        Wowee you hate Bush so much you are voting for someone you know nothing about...Obama tickles your ears with golden words of change, which by the way will never happen, and you eat it up..Obama has and STILL flip flops and has no clear stance on issues as abortion, economy and foriegn policy and yet he is still the perfect candidate?..Huh...Am I watching another episode of South Park?..."YAY! Lets follow the crowd and vote for the superstar, Who cares what he stands for"...He may be able to pull a Bill Clinton and try to hide serious issues from his past under the rug and you ppl fall for it, but theres alot more ppl who know better..They are not as vocal as I on this issue with Obamas sudden rise to popularity on no real merit, and like me they arent falling for his rockstar aura and following the crowd/herd...

        • Posted By: summer4077 @ 08/28/2008 1:33:23 PM

          Observer, McCain has flip flopped many times, too, to pander to the Republican party. He used to be considred a liberal conservative but has been changing his stances to those of a right-wing conservative. Both candidates have flip flopped. It's politics...it's what they do...

          • Posted By: observer101 @ 08/28/2008 1:52:45 PM

            I am well aware that politicians flip flop...Thats what they do...But those of you that assume Obama is the best candidate because you HATE Bush are voting for the wrong reasons...Atleast with McCain just about EVERYONE knows where he stands...Obama pops up out of the blue, proclaims change and ppl chant for him without knowing what it is he stands for...Ask the average schmo why they are voting for Obama they will not have any real reason why...Just because he is for CHANGE...Come on, thats a reason?...Sad state we have gotten to if someone can plaster their face all over Youtube and everything, then spout the same words that got him to where he is and ppl eat it up and want him for President?...Get real....

            The really good news is Mr. Pawlenty, Romney and Leiberman have flipped more than Mr. McCain.

    Off topic but all things considered, funny as hell!

    Cindy McCain's half sister (same father Beer Baron) is voting for Obama. I just heard it on MSNBC.

    • Posted By: chindognyc @ 08/28/2008 4:06:21 PM

      That should tell the American people that she knows how bad McCain is for the Country.

      • Posted By: sharenews @ 08/28/2008 6:11:05 PM

        What is so surprising about it? Cindy and her sister(s?) have been estranged for years (family fued over money I heard). It happens in many families in this country. Not so strange to me.

        Hey Chin,

        Where in Mexico are you?

  • Posted By: C. MacLean @ 08/28/2008 2:08:41 PM

    The speech that everyone is forgetting is Kerry's. He did a masterful job of pointing out the difference between 'senator McCain' and 'candidate McCain." And he was ferocious in his arguments about who gets to define who loves his country and who doesn't, and who is a patriot and who isn't.

    He paved the way for democrats to attack McCain on his own failures, independent of Bush's. They need to do more of it.

    McCain is not only more of the same - he is too much of a warrior and not enough of a stateman for 2008. His bellicose rhetoric about the Russians is proof of that. His 'experience' - that of a Viet Nam/Cold War era war monger - is exactly wrong for the times. Not only does he not have the experience we need - he has the wrong experience.

    This idea that Obama doesn't have enough experience to be commander in chief is based on a false standard of years on the job. What good are years on the job if you haven't learned anything in all those years?

    The true test of a leader is not someone who knows all the answers (a total impossibility) it is someone who knows where to find the answers, and asks the right questions.

    Obama has picked the brains of generals on the ground, senators such as Biden in the foreign relations sphere, Brian Schweitzer in the energy sphere, Gore on global warming, Hilary on health care - the man is confident enough in his ability to reach out to the experience all around him.

    Kerry made the argument that 'candidate McCain' is wrong for the job, and getting worse.

    Obama must keep making that argument, along with the argument that he is the right man at the right time with the right insticts for the job - just years on the job isn't enough.

    Years on the job - McCain's main claim to fame - are irrelevant.

      very good post.

    • Posted By: AskPlus @ 08/28/2008 2:12:44 PM

      Did you hear McCain is picking Colin Powell? I can't believe it.

      • Posted By: sjpersonal @ 08/28/2008 2:42:00 PM

        You are joking right, Gen. Powell would not do that!

  • Posted By: chindognyc @ 08/28/2008 4:05:25 PM

    I am out here in Mexico, and the people are paying close attention to the Presidential race. The Mexicans would like to see Obama win. Even though Obama wants to tweek NAFTA and do away with CAFTA, they still feel their would be great unity between the two Countries.

  • Posted By: Cloudosmoke @ 08/28/2008 1:57:05 PM

    Next week McCain will pretty much say the same thing someone has said this week. No policy of his own.

    • Posted By: careerdaytrader @ 08/28/2008 3:03:42 PM

      He will steam roll Obama during the debates, just like he did on the last 'semi' debates. Obama doesn't have a CHANCE and he knows it, thats why he won't do town halls with him like Mc Cain wanted.

      Bok bok bok BARAK!

  • Posted By: AskPlus @ 08/28/2008 2:13:29 PM

    VP Colin Powell? No. I did not hear that right.

    • Posted By: Cloudosmoke @ 08/28/2008 2:20:37 PM

      Powell's the only smart one to wise up in the first place. If he were to even show up or say anything, he'd more than likely be Bernie Lomax. Hiya Bernie! Bernie would simply wave back. Funny movie.

      • Posted By: AskPlus @ 08/28/2008 2:28:25 PM

        Mr. McCain could play the role of Dave.

  • Posted By: AskPlus @ 08/28/2008 2:18:52 PM

    I do wonder. If he had taken Mr. Powell as a running mate, would he have won by landslide? I think he may have. Choosing another of the good ole boys may spell defeat.
