Sorry. Just Kidding. I just had to do it to the ultra-conservatives. They've been making up stuff for almost a year.

McCain will likely pick Bush stooge Ridge, nyuck nyuck, nyuck. McCain has nothing but Bush and his cronies. Considering the slim pickins and the undereducated republican lawmakers, Biden will mop up the floor with whomever the same way Obama will with McCain. No contest.

the retired marine is out of his mind if he thinks this country will ever be socialist. however, it works nicely in countries where it does exist. and by the way, i am not an OBAMAHEAD. i am a 56yr old white woman who is very fearful for this country if we get stuck with another four years of republicans in the white house. our country will not survive.

THe standard of living in Europe is way below America NOW. And it sounds like you aren't too familiar or educated on economics. We have around a 6% uninflation rate NOW. That may sound high to you and its higher than it was during most of the Bush years but in Europe most countries have 8% to 14% unemployment!

So if you want the US to become like Europe with a lower standard of living then its going to take MILLIONS of MILLIONS of job losses to get there. Don't worry though with Obama's $280 BILLION tax increases and 1 TRILLION over 10 years Social Security tax INCREASES we will get to the European standards. You may not have a job, but you will have your WISH.

      • Posted By: summer4077 @ 08/28/2008 10:54:46 AM

How is free education and healthcare a lower standard of living? Plus, the Euro is at about $1.50 right now...please, tell me that our economy is as strong as ever and everything is peachy!

        • Posted By: careerdaytrader @ 08/28/2008 1:38:24 PM

You didn't read what I wrote. Here's a table from BBC on unemployment rates in Europe.

          France 10%
          Germany 9%
          Italy 12%
          Poland 16%
          Spain 14%

So with ours around 6% if we became like Europe MILLIONS of people would eventually lose their jobs as all the taxes go up to pay for social programs means businesses and the rich have less money to finance expansion and no money to hire people.

So are you Dumb A$$ Democrats really willing to pull the trigger that will put MILLIONS of people out of work to try to emulate a failed Europe?

Its interesting that Most if not all assassins and would be assassins are republican. Maybe its because the republican platform is based on hate and fear.

    • Posted By: benluclar @ 08/28/2008 10:53:12 AM

I have no idea if assassins are Republicans but to say their platform is based on fear and hate is ridiculous.
What they are focusing on right now, and rightly so, is FEAR of any man who creates sensation by mysteriously mesmerizing crowds and erecting TEMPLES to himself. Yes, that is scary.
Did you ever hear of "Moonies" back a few decades ago? This is eerily similar.
When THE ONE instructs his flock to take poison at midnight, how many will listen?
Yes, I FEAR and HATE that.

"I have no idea if assassins are Republicans but to say their platform is based on fear and hate is ridiculous. "

You're right. Th republican party's platform is also based on oil, war, and religious fanaticism, which just happens to be a fear and hate cocktail.

        • Posted By: careerdaytrader @ 08/28/2008 1:33:15 PM

No the Republican platform is built on EXCELLENCE ! If you are smart, hard working and make it in America we want to let you KEEP your money.

Democrats - If you are a pot head, drop out, uneducated, poor or lazy person we will make promises to you to give you FREE STUFF and then blame the Republicans for never coming through and KEEPING you in poverty.

That's the difference between parties. Republicans are for smart people who have money, Democrats are for all the losers in America who took too many beer bong hits in high school, skipped college, and now wonder why their lives suck? LOL

Any and I do mean ANY Black person that shows intelligence they will poke, and stick, and say just about anything to make them look bad. Michelle is not a DRUG addict , nor has she stolen from a non profit org Like Cidy has but yet we should not trust Michelle and trust CINDY You all are Funny and need a Mind check

Too remote in time and place to be relevant in Sen. Obama's bid for the presidency.

Only because it suits your agenda. McCain was a POW most likely before Obama did drugs. But time doesn't seem to stop you from blasting him, his divorce, etc.... Funny how that works with you extremists

I agree. they are all running scared. I could see it it Karl Rove face yesterday. It is time to clean house of the most corrupt white house in our history and it is time to clean our country of the stain that the repubs have become.

  • Posted By: Native New Yorker @ 08/26/2008 12:11:32 PM

Oh please, you guys drink too much Obama koolaid and are definitely in the tank for BHO! The Obama's are racist and elitist and have a solialistic agenda. He is AN EMPTY SUIT, she is A MILITANT angry black woman. Neither one belongs in the White House. Their deceit is hubris, their pandering disgusting. The worst Democratic candidate in history....including Jimmy Carter.

    • Posted By: PaTriotDE @ 08/26/2008 12:31:19 PM

Now, you should take your crazy pills and get a new line of attack from Karl, because this has expired. And you better get plenty of them, because you'll have a chance to use them for the next 8+ years as the Obamas will be living in the White House. You better get your blood pressure check regularly, because 8 years is a long time, and it will seem as an eternity to you, just as the nightmare of the last 8 years have been for the rest of the country and the world. By the way, how do you like that the Bush administration is going down in history as the worst, most corrupt, most ineffective, most incompetent and most ignorant and Bush himself as the worst President to date?

      • Posted By: nona4bea @ 08/26/2008 2:18:09 PM

And Don't forget to add Cheney to the long list of incompetants! Colin Powell was smart to distance himself from that administration! Here is another thought, If McCain wins, Rush Limbaugh will have another 4 years to justify more of the last 8 years of the Bush MADNESS, and if Obama wins, can you imagine his show every day finding fault with every thing the Democrats accomplish trying to put this country back on track as he did
in the Clinton years! His talk show just proves how really stupif the Republicans are who actually listen and agree with his arrogance and disgusting attacks on good people just because of thier Political choice! I supported Hillary, but for sure I will vote for Obama as I don;t think this country can survive 4 more years of the Bush policies!

        • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 08/27/2008 4:37:23 PM

"put the country back on track"? Sorry but our country was never on a Socialist track. The democrats want to have the government control every aspect of our lives. Maybe they had good intentions in order to take care of people (but I doubt it - I think it is more of a "power struggle" than anything else) People need to be responsible for themselves. It is not the government's job to be our "nanny". The republican party hasn't been all that great either, but at least they do still believe in personal responsibility. McCain has his issues which extend the government role into our lives a bit too much also, but Obama is too much in the "extreme" control mode.

          • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 08/28/2008 2:00:34 AM

Republicans tout 'personal responsibility' and waste $10 billion a month in Iraq. Will 'personal responsibility' replace deteriorating infrastructure? If you love driving over unsafe bridges then vote for Sen. McCain. He'll waste even more billions in Iraq showing you that he knows how to 'win' wars.

If you prefer America's tax dollars be spent at home, vote for Sen. Obama.

            • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 08/28/2008 1:22:32 PM

You really are an extremist aren't you? You can not seem to accept the fact that democrats and republicans alike voted to go to war. You must push the blame on Bush. Safe bridges? Again you blame the president. What about state government and their role in making sure the infastructure in their state is safe? Oh, yeah "personal responsibility" is a bad word for extremists wether talking about a person or local government. Get off your koolaid enduced coma and pay attention to reality

Okay, so c'mon, Michelle Obama sits around her kitchen table talking with her friends about how much she LOVES America. Give me a break. I can understand that it was politically imperative that she cover up her true feelings (covering them in a veil of tears?), but I will never forget her vehemence is stating "this is the first time I have been proud of my country." So, what is reality-a canned speech or an imprompu comment?

    • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 08/27/2008 3:59:03 PM

If she only said it once - that would be impromptu, but again and again in different speaches.... come on....

Different speaches to different audiences. As you so eloquently stated in one of your other posts.... Listen and Pay attention".

Many of your comments are nothing more than picking and choosing what you want while neglecting other important facts. You mention Hannity (of course he is going to expose everything he can - just like liberal media will do the same against McCain) but you echo things the same as what you cry about others doing.

So, I'm a combat vet and I have not been proud of my country for the last 8 years. Am I a bad American for not drinking the Kool-Aid from the Neo-cons that did not served a day in combat or in the military? Get over repub, it was a slip of the tongue, or maybe if your race was enslaved, brutalized, discriminated against and pushed aside by white-america when no matter what you do, you are considered a second class citizen, well then maybe a lot of African-American do not get the "lets be proud without question" mode of the ruling class. And with all this, I believe that the Obamas really belief in this country and love this country. Pride is different that love, you are proud of something or someone when their actions reflect or represent something honorable to feel pride about. The Obamas are proud and love this country, they are running because of it. But this is the silly season, in which every slip of the tongue has to be amplified. Again, I am a disabled combat vet and I'm not proud of some of our countries actions, I'm not proud of the Bush administration, but I'm proud of some other things about or country, and I love this country with all my heart and 100% willing to die for it. I do not drink the whole Kool-Aid of been always proud no matter what, I'm a patriot with a brain.

I can't help but note that within a few short hours this thread has been completely hijacked by right-wing posters intending to fill it with negativity and condescension.

One would presume that the counterpoint voices are not putting up quite as much vitriol because, you know, they're out living their lives and taking care of their loved ones.

The louder you scream, guys, the more that people who aren't into it know we've got something good going. You define yourselves in terms of your "superiority" to the opposition - we've been defining ourselves in terms of what we want to accomplish and change. The louder you try to drown out the opposition through decibel and word volume, the more we know we're on our way, because if we weren't, you guys and girls wouldn't have anything to scream about.

    • Posted By: summer4077 @ 08/28/2008 9:42:11 AM

I've also noticed that right-wingers posting on here are so full of hatred. It's sad, really. I'm not saying we should all link arms and sing campfire songs, but the level of intolerance and hatred is quite shocking...not to mention the lack of intelligence and education. Many of them just keep spewing the same lies that have been disproven time and time again, and then start slinging insults when they run out of lies.

      • Posted By: careerdaytrader @ 08/28/2008 10:43:21 AM

Of course we're FULL of hatred. No matter WHO wins Democrats lives are NOT going to change. You won't get paid more at work, you won't pay more taxes nor will you get much relief, you will have higher gas prices under a Democrat but that won't be MUCH higher than under Mc Cain.

Republicans, rich, educated, and successful as we are - ARE GETTING GANG RAPED by people like you who want our money. We pay 90% of the taxes in the US and control 70 to 90% of the small businesses which give YOU jobs. Your greedy hands are going into OUR pockets to GIVE YOURSELVES free health care, tax rebates, and on and on.

        • Posted By: AskPlus @ 08/28/2008 1:13:25 PM

I just can't see you ever being rich? Did you makes your millions by lawsuit or lottery? It was not done with wisdom, education, ambition or tolerance.

        • Posted By: C. MacLean @ 08/28/2008 11:35:12 AM

Mr. DayTrader, you are wrong. We aren't after your money.

          We just want our own.

We want to be able to make our mortgage payments and not watch our houses drop in value. We want to be able to have our 20-somethings not have to mortgage their futures to go to college. We want to be able to work for 30 years at a job and not see our pensions and health care lost when the company goes out of business. We want to be able to deal with sudden illness or severe accidents and not have it bankrupt our families. We want to have decent health care and education benefits after we serve our country with honor.

          We dont' want your money.

We just want ours. We don't think that is so much to ask.

        • Posted By: summer4077 @ 08/28/2008 11:01:12 AM

My husband and I are in our mid 20s and made $165,000 last year. He's a pharmacist and I hold an MBA. I assure you that "people like us" are not after your money; we have worked hard to make a comfortable life for ourselves. I know you find it hard to believe, but we're democrats. We see a need for ALL Americans to have health coverage and better access to more affordable education. I find it utterly reprehensible that Americans are dying on a daily basis simply because they aren't lucky enough to have good healthcare--and yes, it is luck. There are people out there that work their fingers to the bone, yet still can't afford to go to the doctor. Republicans like to tout that this is the greatest country on Earth--yet we can't even take care of our citizens.
I'm sick of paying for a disaster of a war that was unfounded in the first place. The trillions spent in that fiasco could have greatly helped our country. This isn't about greedy people trying to bamboozle the poor, defenseless wealthy. This is about the hardworking people out there who are seeing their savings disappear, their health benefits severely cut or gone, their children not being able to afford college tuition, inflation rising, wages stagnating, and jobs leaving the country. This is about our country going down the tubes if something isn't done, and soon!

As wonderful as it was to hear Bill Clinton speak again, it was that bad to hear Biden. His entire speech was a best uneven and awkward. While his opening was not bad, once he got past the remarks about his upbringing, he was all over the place. Seemed rather unprepared for an event such as this. If that was his best, it wasn't very good. Overall I'd give Biden a C+ but with the note (Needs a lot of improvement) He certainly didn't look very vice-presidential last night. And unfortunately tonight will a testbook lesson in how to fill 45 minutes and not say a thing. It would have been better for Obama to speak on Tuesday night and have Hillary give her acceptance speech tonight. Michael Gerson mentioned in this article regarding Bill Clinton's speech about Obama "It is the best presentation of a thin resume I have ever witnessed." That sums it up very well. It was an extraordinary speech about a woefully thin resume. Stop comparing Obama to JFK, It's not even close and very hard to compare the two eras. Obama just is not anywhere near ready for the job as President. 8 years from now, maybe. But not now. Change can be a good thing, but not the kind Obama has in mind. I'd rather see the McCain Clinton ticket or the Clinton McCain but nothing about Obama-Biden feels good. Nothing at all.

Republicans and Democrats alike would be oing HUh? Whaaaaa Happened? All the talking heads would be dumbfounded.....Come on John ,,surprise everybody....Stop em all in their tracks. At least we'd get to here Hillary speak again.

  • Posted By: loriw @ 08/27/2008 10:32:44 PM

This convention besides being not to exciting, is full of flips. For the first time ever we have a Presidential candidate who (in his state Senate) voted in favor of practices that can only be called infanticide. We have a VP candidate who is Catholic but has joined the ticket of the man who is Pro-abortion with the added stigma of being pro-infanticide. This campaign has been so full of FLIPs and now this convention is a FLOP!

    • Posted By: Keepinguponfacts123 @ 08/28/2008 12:48:44 PM

Get over the Flip-Flop thing. That is so yesterday. Nobody cares if people change their mind. What worries me is the person you are in favor of doesn't seem to have all his bearings. He is out of touch and maybe a little senile. I could be wrong.

Somebody asked Carly Fiorina if she really feels that Jobs in America are not Americans God Given Right. She said that what is most important is that we must be able to compete in this global times. That is why she support companies going overseas. This is McCains top economic adviser. I hope you are not a blue collar worker voting for McCain. If McCain can tell Michigan that their jobs are not coming back, imagine what will happen with your job.

    • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 08/28/2008 8:34:22 AM

When did the constitution tell you that a job was your God given right? We believe that live liberty and the persuit of happiness is an inherent right, but when did it ever promise you a certain job???? You want a specific job - that is your responsibility to make sure you are capable and competent enough to do the job and then seek it out. Your problem is that you want someone else to hand you everything with no effort on your part.

      • Posted By: summer4077 @ 08/28/2008 9:29:01 AM

Once again, I agree with you. This is getting scary, haha. Americans have a sense of entitlement that is surreal. I think our arrogance and refusal to keep up with the global market has caused a loss of jobs. Asian cars and electronics are kicking our cars and electronics all over the place, yet we don't want to get off our duffs and utilize better technology. Same goes with computers. It seems that Americans are smart enough to think up all these new technologies, but too lazy to follow through and keep up with them. It is absolutely true that we need to focus on being more competetive in the global marketplace.

        • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 08/28/2008 12:45:39 PM

Also - many Americans are complaining about jobs going overseas, or illegals taking up the jobs, while at the same time displaying the attitude that they are too good themselves to be a maid, janitor, field worker, etc.... It is insane.

Nothing scary about agreeing. I am a conservatist - neither extreme or obsessive. Many of my views do agree with liberals (although not extremists). Have been accused of being libertarian - but can't say that fits either. I do have distinct viewpoints and believe that our "God given right" is to be free to fail or succeed based on our own decisions not the governments or any other nanny. If I am too lazy to work towards bettering myself - I have the right and should be allowed to fail. Same goes for if I choose to work diligently to succeed. Many liberals (mostly extremists) feel that no one should fail and that they should make the decisions for those who won't make them for themselves. This I feel adamantly is wrong. The government should ensure our freedoms, not babysit us. Their grasp is in way too many aspects of our lives which they shouldn't be involved. The American people are the most giving throughout the world - there is no need for the government to force people to give. Those who want to do so will, those who don't will not - but that is their choice. We have created such a dependence on welfare that there is no incentive to get off of it. Many (not all) don't have healthcare - not because they can't afford it but rather because they would rather spend money on luxuries. (I know that will rub some the wrong way and I'll get flack for that comment - but truth hurts). Our priorities are so screwed up and our belief of "entitlement" has blinded us to real life.

Can't say that I like McCain or many of his policies, but I definitely don't like the policies of Obama - a candidate who would like to give government even more control and force (his own words) things upon us. Republican win or Democrat win should NOT be priority. America win is the only thing that matters. Unfortunately there are people on both sides who only see "Party" as having to win - for no reason other than "Party" lines...

Will Bill Clinton put aside his narcissistic rage aside and (unlike his wfe) embrace (rather than simply endose) Obama? The speech has to be about Obama not about Bill Clinton and his injured ego. He needs to say: I know Barack Obama. These are the qualities that make him ready to be Commander in Chief. These are the detais of his life that make him ready to lead us. These have been his accomplishments. I believe in him. I know him. I respect him. I recommend him to you. He is a good man. He will never betray your trust. He will never give you reason to impeach him.

    • Posted By: oklok @ 08/27/2008 11:48:53 AM

Why not do a little reading instead of blogging the same stuff? You have no idea how Obama is disrespecting the Clintons. Why isn't the candidate not in town for his own convention? Why is he sitting in the living room of blonde people? Why is he not even in Denver to talk to his own delegates? Why is he only going to appear in front of Roman columns like the great Cicero?

Google Jonathan Capehart and read. And by the way? Mr Clinton does not know Obama because Obama has not reached out to him.

      • Posted By: Cloudosmoke @ 08/27/2008 11:53:08 AM

Obama is campaiging. What's he supposed to do, sit in Denver and wait for his speech.

        • Posted By: oklok @ 08/27/2008 1:17:49 PM

Please learn a little history about what happens at a convention. If the delegates don't vote for him--he hasn't officially become the nominee--he doesn't become it. Any delegate ca change their vote at any time. He has no interest in reassuring his delegates or convincing hers. He hasn't even talked to her delegations on the floor as is customary. And yet his people and his supporters rag on her for doing his job? It's ludicrous. She is not the nominee - it is not her job. He needs them to vote for him. She did her job. Some of her supporters will never vote for him, others needed to be told thank you for your support and now it's ok to vote for him and to the others she said you don't have to vote for him but you have to vote democrat. What more do you want? She doesn't owe him anything. She owed her supporters which are half of the electorate in case you hadn't noticed. He wants people to know who he is? Sitting in white people's living room isn't going to do it. And having his supporters continue to malign hers - like you are all intent on doing - will not bring him victory. What you are doing is no different than a vote for McCain. What is it going to take to get you to understand this?

          • Posted By: Cloudosmoke @ 08/27/2008 2:13:34 PM

Your statement makes no sense. Obama is the nom. You can take a pencil and write in your book for Clinton, she isn't it. She is the support. Obama is making the best of his time by campaigning. The convention is for the Democratic Presidential platform for supporters and delegates to make the case to the nation. Obama has his day on Thursday. Until then he is doing what he must do. You said it yourself, he has to win not everyone else (even though that is a lie you concocted). But nonetheless, he is campaigning. Good thing you aren't on anyone's staff, you would have jacked up the season.

Sigh, If he were already the nominee why the need for a convention? He is not the nominee until the roll call is made. In theory, a delegate - pledged or super - can vote however they like. That's why the "pledged".And that is why they are so insistent on keeping her name off it. So the world can't see how many delegates have migrated away from Obama. After Sen Clinton's speech David Gregory ask Richardson if any of the Democrats had buyer's remorse. Once the affirmation is made - he is officially the nominee. Then he accepts the nomination in his toga in the Forum with the pillars aglow behind him. Stay tuned. It will be more grandiose and messianic than Berlin.

Your a weirdo. All candidates are never there and yet now that Obama is doing what other candidates have done, you want to call him names. Give me a break.

        • Posted By: oklok @ 08/27/2008 12:23:52 PM

          "All candidates are never there?"

How many candidates are there? He's the presumptive nominee and it's his convention - his party and he's in Kansas City.

          "Call him names?"

What name did I call him?

          "Your a weirdo."

Great way to unify. Do you really want Obama to win?

Wait, when the Convention was going on, Bill was still campainging. Kerry, the same. Obama does it and he is getting a negative response. Give me a break.

It was clear that Biden did an effective job considering the way the FOX Noise anchors were stammering even to come up with a critique. One anchor was saying, "He is questioning McCain's judgment? He is no friend," as if questioning his judgment itself is unethical. Obviously, they have no answer to the questions Biden raised. Another anchor was trying to divert the attention to Obama's thin resume. Bill Kristol was saying, "Apparently the democrats are changing strategy because the Bush III term argument only may not do; now they are trying to disqualify McCain." Only one anchor brought about the point that McCain's judgment on "surge" was not mentioned. That is a clear acceptance of Biden's contention that McCain was wrong umpteen number of times.

Bush and his lackey, John McCain, have hit rock bottom. They have no vision for America. Bush and McCain have committed irreprehensible acts of violence and murder through forcing our militaries to commit to infamous wars. Bush and McCain have revised the Constitution to fit their vision. Bush and McCain have walked on people's rights with illegal incarcerations in Guantanamo and wire tapping. Bush and McCain have abused their positions to profit from BIG OIL. Bush and McCain have deprived the troops of sufficient protection from extremists and terrorists. McCain and Bush have not stood up against Domestic terrorism such as hate crimes against the liberal base, i.e. The Republican that entered the church and fatally shot audience members and the Arkansas Democratic headquarters.

Bush and McCain have failed to capture Bin Laden. They are failures.

On the other hand, McCain is a tired old politician that has only Republican wealth on his mind. Give the rich your money if that's what you want. McCain will gladly accept. Christmas is getting close and I have presents to buy. McCain won't have a problem buying Nguyen Minh Triet or Mikheil Saakashvili a present.

Funny how one sided you liberals are on the money issue. Republicans and wealth this, republicans and wealth that. I don't see very many poor democrat senators, congressmen, presidential candidates.... In fact, I seems the democrats have the most affluent of all parties in their midst....

Well dont buy the Christian Obama kids any Christmas gifts cuz their parents do not give presents out to open up when they get up on XMAS morning.

      • Posted By: sharenews @ 08/27/2008 4:06:10 PM

It means what I said. That is what the Obamas said in the People magazine interview. As to why they dont give the kids gifts to open? Beats me.

        • Posted By: loriw @ 08/28/2008 1:36:02 AM

Maybe because they really don't celebrate Christmas...even the WISE MEN brought gifts to the Baby Jesus.
Oh now I get it....Obama HATES babies!
That's why it was told to Obama during the Born Alive Infant Protection Act debate that "Jesus wouldn't vote for Obama."
Sharenews or anyone else... do you know the man's name that made that statement...I would like to give him credit for his words and I have forgotten his name.

Here's another Obama tale about how he takes care of business:

Obama has lambasted lobbyists and moneyed interests who "have turned our government into a game only they can afford to play."

"It's an entire culture in Washington -- some of it legal, some of it not," the Democratic hopeful told a New York crowd in June. But last year Obama introduced nine separate bills exempting foreign chemical company Nufarm from import fees on a range of chemical ingredients it uses in the manufacture of pesticides and herbicides.

Nufarm wasn't the only beneficiary of Obama's efforts to reduce customs fees and duties. In early May of 2006, two Washington lobbyists registered to work on behalf of Astellas Pharma, a Japanese-owned drug company which also has offices in Illinois.

Together, Obama's obscure measures -- known as tariff suspensions -- steered more than $12 million away from federal coffers, according to government estimates.

While legal, Obama's bills on behalf of Nufarm and other companies are part of the special treatment machine Washington rolls out for special interests, say good-government watchdogs. With a dozen tariff suspension bills to his name, Obama stands out as the most prolific of any presidential hopeful on the topic. Sen. John McCain introduced none.

"If you have a company...there's a whole factory set up to help you get these suspensions," said Steve Ellis, president of the Washington, D.C.-based watchdog group Taxpayers for Common Sense. "It's a pay-to-play system you have to rev up and work." Hire the right lobbyist, pay the right fee, and you can save millions, he explained.

Some say the tariff suspension process isn't how Washington should operate.

In his speeches, Sen. Obama seems to agree: "We need a president who sees government not as a tool to enrich well-connected friends and high-priced lobbyists, but as the defender of fairness and opportunity for every American," the candidate said in his June speech. "That's the kind of president I intend to be."

But his actions speak louder than his words.

Junker defended tariff suspensions as good for American businesses. "It's nothing to be embarrassed, ashamed or suspicious of," he said.

justifying the breaks for Nufarm to import a chemical known as 2,4 D and other ingredients by claiming they would "eliminate these unnecessary and avoidable...costs to [Nufarm's] consumers."

But the company's financial reports, issued just two months after Obama introduced Nufarm's numerous tariff-lifting bills, indicate Nurarm was making more money than ever before in North America because it had increased its prices on its U.S. and Canadian customers, predominantly farmers, in particular on "phenoxy herbicides," a family which includes 2,4 D.

Economics aside, some medical researchers have purported to find a link between high exposure to the chemical and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a type of cance

His actions do not speak louder than his words. He is not president yet.

      • Posted By: Cloudosmoke @ 08/27/2008 3:21:09 PM

Pearson, what are you babbling about? A company? Legal business? Making money? What? It's cut and paste time? You voting for McCain? Sound about right?

        • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 08/27/2008 3:57:02 PM

So you think it is consistent with Obama's platform to give big business 12 million in tax breaks and then let them gouge the farmers buying their products without a thought about their health and safety?

I am incredibly proud of Hillary and Bill Clinton. I hope Obama can see the value these two wonderful people bring to the democratic party, and to the country.

HMMM COULD IT BE THAT EVERYONE SAW THAT MICHELLE'S WAS A SCRIPT AND THAT CLINTON BARLY ENDORSED OBAMA (NEVER SAYING HE WAS READY TO LEAD THIS COUNTRY OR THAT SHE THOUGHT HE WAS !) WITH GOOD OLE BILL SPEAKING TONITE THERE WON'T BE A BOUNCE IN THE FUTURE EITHER ! BILL CLINTON WILL NOT LET ANYONE TELL HIM WHAT HE WILL SAY IN A SPEECH AND YOU COULD BET HE WILL SAY WHAT THE OBAMA CAMP DON'T WANT YOU TO HEAR (ITS PART OF THE CLINTON PLAN !! )

    • Posted By: raddave @ 08/27/2008 4:16:59 PM

You all keep talking about no bounce for Obama, but there has not been any bounce for McCain either. The polls have stayed fairly consistant over the last weeks for both of them.

      • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 08/28/2008 9:27:56 AM

Just because you are against Obama doesn't necessarily mean that you are "for" McCain. It has now unfortunately come down to the lesser of two evils. What is best for America should be on the top of everyone's agenda - but unfortunately it is not. Too many out there with the attitude "Hillary didn't win and I hate Obama, but I have to vote democrat..." This is pathetic. When you have to vote over love of Party affiliation over Love of America, God have mercy on you. You will get what you ask for.... (Of course you will still fail to take responsibility and will continue to blame someone else.... - that's what most far left liberals do best).

I really thought after Hillarys speech last nite that he would get at least a 5 or more bump. Instead a teeny-weenie bump. Obama made a huge mistake not picking Hillary. But then, I couldnt see the Obamas and the Clintons together having breakfast each day either in the white house. LOL. Either way, it is starting not to look good for Obama in the polls given we are right in the middle of the DNC. .

No...it was very clear to me. She did the obligatory party line talk, but the speech was selling...Hillary. She gave no real personal endorsment to Hussein.

And I think this was what was really on her mind...NO WAY!!! NOHOW!!! NOBAMA!!! it even sounds right.

We should question McCain's patriotism. Does he really care for America? I know sharenews already answerd this so he doesn't have to reply. Debunked got the chance to see it and debunked hasn't come back since. It hurts to know that this man who say's he can win war even though he has never been in a situation to win a war, did have hatred for America. How can a man hate America "until" he was locked up and then thats when he wanted to love America. Why should we believe that he loves America now. If he loved America, he would not be keeping the same Bush policies. He would not look the people in Michigan in the eyes and tell them that their jobs will never return. He would not pick Carly Fiorina as his top economic adviser. The same woman who made 1000's of Americans loose their jobs and sent it overseas. Same woman who said "jobs in America are not Americans God given right." Same woman who would not have said that she kept profits for HP in offshore bank accounts so that they would not have to pay taxes. She should be in jail. This is the great McCain.....The same man who at one time hated America. I think he still does.

    • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 08/28/2008 8:31:44 AM

That was about as stupid as telling a girl the old line..."If you love me you will sleep with me..." Before you question someone's love for America, let me ask you this: WHAT IN THE HELL HAVE YOU DONE FOR AMERICA? Like McCain or not, he served his country in the military as well as in public service, while you sit bac and criticize, yet do nothing. If you aren't contributing and aren't trying to be a part of the solution, then you most definitely are part of the problem. Some of you sit back and enjoy your freedoms, you enjoy your right to criticize which you should.... after all it is those honorable people (unlike like you) who gave up much of their time, sweat, tears, blood, and some their very lives in order to purchase those rights for you. But unless you have anything of substance to add, maybe try to sit back and think before you throw mud at the very people who ensured your rights to throw the mud.... But alas, it will never happen because some are too self centered and unappreciative of what they have....

      • Posted By: summer4077 @ 08/28/2008 9:22:06 AM

RetiredMarine, even though we support different candidates, I agree with you. I don't think supporters on either side have done enough research on their candidates, but have resorted to silly, childish name calling and issues that don't matter. I don't care if Obama wears a flag pin--it doesn't equate patriotism. I also am frustrated at how Michelle's comments about being proud of her country were taken out of context--the sentence wasn't even finished! Likewise, I think McCain's comments about his love of the US don't equal his patriotism. As I've said before, most Americans don't realize how lucky we are to live in this country. Yes, it has its faults, but it's still a great country. McCain's statement rang true because it's true for all of us--how appreciative are we of this country on a daily basis? Now how much would that appreciation grow if we were forced to live in squalor in a third world country? I love my country, but I don't think I could possibly ever fully love it until I see the horrible conditions of other countries.
Anyway, neither McCain nor Obama's patriotism should be questioned. It's pretty clear that they both love their country. People need to focus on REAL issues, like their war, energy, and economic policies.
