Would you rather have more crackhead mothers popping out 6 kids on welfare, then putting their babies in microwaves or throwing them off overpasses? These cases seem to be more and more common. Abortion is a woman's right, with limitations on mid and late-term terminations. We have a lot more pressing issues as a nation, regarding our morality, than abortion.
You either didn't read the article or are in severe denial. The bill in question was to give medical aid to a baby that managed to survive a botched abortion attempt and be born. Senator Obama believes allowing an already born child to receive medical care interferes with personal choice. Whose choice? Certainly not the baby's. If this isn't infanticide, I don't know what is. It has nothing to do with the woman'c choice nor restricting late term choice since the billassumes a late term abortion must have taken place. Yout appeals to emotional scenarios of crack babies only illustrates the untenable nature of your position - most such abortions are not covered by medicalinsuranceand generally are out of the price range of crack mothers. These are largely babies killed out of convenience.
how can it be infactide when its not an infant? you accuse people of botching termanology to fit their needs and then you go about doing the same thing. hypocrisy at its finest
The abortion is considered "botched" because the idea of an abortion is that the baby will be killed before birth occurs. In this case of late term abortion, the woman is given medication that forces her "womb" to open and allows the baby to be born...alive. This is different than partial birth where the infant is killed inside the mother before it can be born. Infanticide occurs primarily in the first case, where the infant is born then is left to die a lingering death often alone in a soiled utility room in the clic or hospital.

Definition - infant - a very young child; a baby!
VERY WELL STATED!

I would prefer that "crackhead mothers" exercise their right to choose to end their drug dependency.
What supportive facts do you have to support the frequency of instances when mothers put their babies in microwaves or throw them off overpasses?
The most important obligation of the federal government is to protect the life and security of all persons in the country!
That determination and accomplishment would demonstrate a nation's morality more than any other program.
Obama is a puppet of a system that hates life. 13 MILLION Black babies have been murdered in this country through abortion. and it's not going to stop until real Black men and women stand up and say ENOUGH. The only reason why Obamation has any support is because he is a darling of Planned Parenthood who has supported our extermination as a race since Day One. I hope he loses the race and fades away to dust.
Only black babies. Likely. I;m assuming you have a house full of foster children for all of your rhetoric.

Have you even bothered to contribute voluntarily to any social services or charities?
Yes I have but I'm pro choice. The question is, has EVERY pro lifer? When you take away choice, you must assume responsibility. Simply saying that they would not have been in that situation in the first place does not cut it. I AM CERTAIN IT'S NOT A EASY CHOICE. There are some that have contributed, I'm sure they will be blessed, Some however just intellectualize, and from what I have seen, far too little support. Instead they complain how these "fast" women/teens are a drain to the system.
At least Planned Parenthood provides a place where scared women/teens get get answers because they could not look to their own family for support.
sorry to disagree but the woman in most situations made choices that led to the pregnancy in the first place. To have sex, to have unprotected sex, etc . I think the people who are REALLY responsible for taking responsibility in the event of a pregnancy are the 2 people that caused it to occur in the first place...that would be the father AND the mother. Planned Parenthood is not the wonderful organization that everyone wants to believe it is. you know every year I go to the IN state fair. Every year there is a booth there with people that volunteer their time to try and give out information to teens and others on how to prevent even getting into an unplanned pregnancy. they also have information on what to do if there is an unplanned pregnancy. Evey year for 27 years they have been there. Do you know how often I have seen Planned parenthood there? NEVER> They aren't out there trying to prevent pregnancy, they wait til therre is a pregnancy so they can provide abortion "services"
Using the term 'fetus' to deumanize an individual is deception pure an simple. A fetus is not an infant just as an infant is not a teenager. These terms simply describe different stages of uman development but at every stage we are still talking about a human individual.
They used the term slave to dehumanize men women and children. There was also a time when the some ranking officials of the church did not stand up for these slaves,For a moment it was even accepted as a way things should be... imagine that. They chose not to get involved to save the born children of our Father. . Oh well they are getting involved with unborn children now. funny how that works. But it was a long time ago and things were different then. There was a time when you could kill human individual because they were not of your faith and the church blessed you for it. So now what are we fighting for, women's choice or the fetus?
The baby should have rights that are protected (and now are protected under the Act signed by President Bush) as soon as it is born alive even if that birth was caused by abortion. Consider it abandoned, just like if a mother brings her newborn baby to the ER and abandons it there, give it medical care and a chance at life in an adoptive home.
As soon as an infant is born it ceases to be a fetus, it is an infant, a newborn baby.
Fetus is a medical term, but you are right it does dehumanize the pre-born baby.
I wonder if we would have as many abortions if human embryology was a required science class in freshman high school or even late middle school. The Visible embryo is my favorite web site for seeing how the baby develops I think it is visembryo.com
Everyone is welcome to participate in "A Dream We All Can Believe In". This campaign is a tribute to Barack Obama and his American Dream. Proudly display your support For Obama '08, in the eye catching T-shirt created by artist Tony Bryant. Don't miss out on this opportunity, to be a part of the Obama movement, "A Dream We All Can Believe In". Can be found on the website that is for "we the people." at http://www.tonybryant.net.
Why don't you make a shirt that says "I support Infanticide because that is not above my pay grade"
and be sure to have a large likeness of Obama on the shirt as well.
I thought I would check what FactCheck.org had to say, as this is so well-documented. I work in Illinois politics and my first awareness of Obama came when some of my friends in the Illinois Senate told me years ago that the point man in lobbying to kill the Infants Born Alive protection bill was a fellow named Barack Obama. Most of the so-called MSM are little more than shills for the left. I like to see if there is any intellectual honesty out there from the left. Other than from Camille Paglia, I don't find any. And I sure haven't found any from this organization. A little but smoother shill for Obama, but a shill nonetheless. The reason you folks in the MSM keep losing readership and credibility is because you keep demanding that the public make the old Groucho Marx choice - who should they believe; you or their own eyes?
The born-alive abortion is an abortion. No abortion should ever be conducted. This is just a way for an abortionist to make money, and that's all it is. I wasn't going to vote for Obama anyway, but this is just one of the reasons why other countries hate us. Obama would probably make a great president if he wasn't for any kind of abortion. This is just to help out selfish women who shouldn't be able to get pregnant in the first place. A lot of people in line to adopt so just give the babies to them.
What a hypocritic O is...one moment, he's bemoaning the innocent lives of OUR VOLUNTEER SOLDIERS, and the wasted lives of those young men who died for no reason.....THEN, he encourages the daily slaughter of thousands and thousand of INNOCENT, LIFE....that never had a chance to decide if they were willing to risk their wellbeing for anything....If, indeed it is above his PAY GRADE to make a decision about when life begins (although he votes often on the matter) WE know what his voting record PROVES....Babies are a disposable commodity.....Obama can't have it both ways....FLIP, FLOP, FLIP, FLOP
Abortion is not an important issue at all and I'm so sick of hearing about it for the past 20 years, all Republicans can talk about it abortion and guns/war and whenever they feel threatened, they bring up abortion. It is a woman's choice, plain and simple. She is the one who will have to live with her decision and its consequences, be it in this life or beyond. Abortion is an easy cause to take up, people picture a beautiful baby and that's as far as it goes. If they are interested in saving children, they can volunteer to help pregnant mothers, homeless pregnant mothers and teens, child abuse agencies such as Children and Youth services, Catholic Charities which helps abused kids or volunteer to be a foster parent. BUT they won't because its too hard and it actually takes work and seeing the ugly side of life. A dying economy, small business owners losing their businesses, no health insurance, rising utility costs, middle east wars that will never end are the topics that matter, not abortion. Forced sterilization in China is a problem, genital mutilation of women in Africa is a problem, not the exploited abortion issue in America. Focus on the real problems.

If, as you say, abortion is a woman's choice, why shouldn't murder also be a murder's choice?
After all, likewise, any murderer would have to live with his or her own decision and its consequences!
And the fact that several child centered social agencies exist is a valid proof that many moral people do volunteer and contribute to those facilities and programs. Why do you insinuate that people would not support those social redemptive activities?
It's noble for the US to support human rights issues abroad, but morality definitely begins at home by ensuring the protection of America's most vulnerable lives.
Otherwise what comes next - euthanizing the elderly, the infirmed, the paralyzed, the mentally retarded, AIDS victims, etc.?
Obama is a sick SOB. He lied. It says so in this article.
13 MILLION dead Black Babies later, after legalizing abortion we have Obama running for President. This is the same person who has spoken up in favor of Planned Parenthood, the same folks who support the "extermination of the Negro" The Liberals will only back Black candidates who are willing to sell out to Baby Killers; not someone who is pro life because they want genocide for us and population control for all.
I'm sorry did Obama create roe vs wade. no but he is trying to defend it. I'm sure you see they are dancing around it trying to find a crack so they can may a larger one.
federal law no only allows for abortion to take place after the first trimester in the event of rape incest or it poses a serious threat to the mothers life. not quite a bazooka deal breaker there lee
Yet the abortions at Christ Hospital, the very epicenter of the ensuing Obama/BAIPA debate, were performed on healthy mothers, with healthy children. No evidence whatever suggests that anyone was a ''rape''victim. Evidence has been forwarded by the pro-life organization FACTCHECK investigates in its above article, that none of the botched abortions were performed on ''first trimester''fetuses. You are skewing the argument..[without success]. The demand by pro-abortion adherents is to move the maturation ball down the field, from 1st,into 2nd,now 3d trimesters based upon diminishing criteria based upon actual ''health''of the mother, from courts interpretation of ROEs ''life-threatening'' conditions,to a damned headache that vanishes with two ADVIL.
This is absolutism and cannot be respected in a nation of laws that demand forbearance, compromise, and a limit to rights. Women have already been given the keys to a lawful termination of their pregnancies. In moving past ''zygotes'',''fetuses''and now, finally firmly developed children,Americans are beginning to recoil at this absolutism. Make no mistake. It is for this cause chiefly that Obamas support is beginning to fray. Todays GALLUP poll actually shows a McCain lead. Todays RASMUSSEN shows no ''Biden Bounce''with a dead heat between the two candidates.Pelosis sneering insults of Catholics which are a major voting bloc in this country are alienating these voters who are deadset against late-term abortions,[as is a solid American majority registered in the late-60/70-percentile],performed on the healthy and the sane. [and the unraped and the no-incest as well]. Stay this folly,or your man will go down to defeat in November.[or worse, further divide this nation even worse than it already is].
Ooops, Obama lied...whether you call it infanticide or not...either way Obama lied about his position at Saddleback.
Archbishop scolds pro-choice Biden
The Washington Times Valerie Richardson and Julia Duin Aug. 26, 2008
DENVER |Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. arrived at the Democratic National Convention on Monday amid rumblings over whether his pro-choice Catholicism would help or hurt the Democratic ticket.
An Irish-Catholic from a working-class upbringing, Mr. Biden won the nod as presumptive presidential nominee Barack Obama's running mate in part because of his appeal to blue-collar Catholics, the same voters who swung during the primary for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.
Although he represents Delaware in the Senate, Mr. Biden grew up in Pennsylvania, a must-win state for Democrats in November.
But the party's hopes of winning the critical Catholic vote took a hit Sunday when Archbishop Charles Chaput of Denver said Mr. Biden should avoid taking Communion as a result of his pro-choice stand on abortion.
Archbishop Chaput, who was scheduled to lead a pro-life candlelight vigil Monday night here in front of Planned Parenthood, called Mr. Biden's support for abortion rights "seriously wrong," said archdiocese spokeswoman Jeanette De Melo.
"I certainly presume his good will and integrity," said the archbishop, "and I presume that his integrity will lead him to refrain from presenting himself for Communion if he supports a false 'right' to abortion."
The archbishop, who was not invited to speak at any convention events in what appeared to be a deliberate snub, told the Associated Press that he would like to speak privately with Mr. Biden.
The debate underscored what has emerged as a central theme of this year's convention: the tension between the Democratic Party's renewed outreach to religious voters and its long-standing support for unfettered access to abortion.
Continued - Archbishop scolds pro-choice Biden
At a panel discussion Monday sponsored by Google on "The Shifting Faith Vote: What It Means for the Election," panelists said that concerns over social issues, such as poverty, are moving some faith-based voters away from the Republican Party.
At the same time, they haven't aligned with the Democrats, primarily because of the abortion issue.
"The push for the Democratic Party is to have a new position on abortion," said Steve Waldman, editor of the religious Web site beliefnet.com. "When you look at Catholics and evangelicals, you see that they agree with 80 percent of what [Mr. Obama] says, but there's this stumbling block with abortion."
Whether pro-choice Catholics should take Communion became a major issue in 2004 during Democrat John Kerry's run for the presidency when more than a dozen bishops, including Archbishop Chaput, publicly asked the senator from Massachusetts not to present himself for the Eucharist.
Their stance may have given a boost to President Bush, who increased his share of the Catholic vote from 47 percent in 2000 to 52 percent in 2004.
Catholics, the nation's largest religious voting bloc, represent 26 percent of the electorate. Alexia Kelley, executive director of Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good, said that 11 percent of those this year are considered "swing voters," more than in any recent election year.
Catholic advocacy groups didn't wait long before weighing in on the "wafer wars." The conservative Catholic group Fidelis condemned the selection of Mr. Biden.

"Now everywhere Biden campaigns, we'll have this question of whether a pro-abortion Catholic can receive Communion. ... Selecting a pro-abortion Catholic is a slap in the face to Catholic voters," said Fidelis President Brian Burch.
Washington Archbishop Rips Pelosi on Abortion
The Hill by Bob Cusack Aug. 25, 2008
In a rare public rebuke of a top politician, the archbishop of Washington said Monday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was incorrect when she recently said the moment of conception has long been a matter of controversy within the Catholic Church.
In a release issued Monday night, Washington Archbishop Donald W. Wuerl said Pelosi's comments on "Meet the Press" on Sunday "were incorrect."
Wuerl noted that Pelosi responded to a question on when life begins by mentioning she was Catholic.
The release quoted Pelosi as saying the church has not been able to come with a definition of when life begins.
???After Mr. Tom Brokaw, the interviewer, pointed out that the Catholic Church feels strongly that life begins at conception, she replied, 'I understand. And this is, like, maybe 50 years or something like that. So again, over the history of the church, this is an issue of controversy,' " the release said.
Wuerl strongly disagrees.
He said, "We respect the right of elected officials such as Speaker Pelosi to address matters of public policy that are before them, but the interpretation of Catholic faith has rightfully been entrusted to the Catholic bishops. Given this responsibility to teach, it is important to make this correction for the record."
Wuerl pointed out that the Catechism of the Catholic Church is clear, and has been clear for 2,000 years. He cited Catechism language that reads, "Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception ??? Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law.???
A Pelosi spokesman did not immediately comment for this article.
USing the term 'fetus' to dehmanize and individual is misleading. A fetus is not an infant just as an infant is not a teenager. These terms just discribe stages of human development but all stages are still human.
Obama is a cruel person! He quotes the bible and admonishes us regarding how to treat everyone yet his behind the scenes political nuanced positions once the curtain is pulled back revealing Obama's true positions and true personality.
