I thought I would check what FactCheck.org had to say, as this is so well-documented. I work in Illinois politics and my first awareness of Obama came when some of my friends in the Illinois Senate told me years ago that the point man in lobbying to kill the Infants Born Alive protection bill was a fellow named Barack Obama. Most of the so-called MSM are little more than shills for the left. I like to see if there is any intellectual honesty out there from the left. Other than from Camille Paglia, I don't find any. And I sure haven't found any from this organization. A little but smoother shill for Obama, but a shill nonetheless. The reason you folks in the MSM keep losing readership and credibility is because you keep demanding that the public make the old Groucho Marx choice - who should they believe; you or their own eyes?

The born-alive abortion is an abortion. No abortion should ever be conducted. This is just a way for an abortionist to make money, and that's all it is. I wasn't going to vote for Obama anyway, but this is just one of the reasons why other countries hate us. Obama would probably make a great president if he wasn't for any kind of abortion. This is just to help out selfish women who shouldn't be able to get pregnant in the first place. A lot of people in line to adopt so just give the babies to them.

What a hypocritic O is...one moment, he's bemoaning the innocent lives of OUR VOLUNTEER SOLDIERS, and the wasted lives of those young men who died for no reason.....THEN, he encourages the daily slaughter of thousands and thousand of INNOCENT, LIFE....that never had a chance to decide if they were willing to risk their wellbeing for anything....If, indeed it is above his PAY GRADE to make a decision about when life begins (although he votes often on the matter) WE know what his voting record PROVES....Babies are a disposable commodity.....Obama can't have it both ways....FLIP, FLOP, FLIP, FLOP

Archbishop scolds pro-choice Biden

DENVER |Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. arrived at the Democratic National Convention on Monday amid rumblings over whether his pro-choice Catholicism would help or hurt the Democratic ticket.

An Irish-Catholic from a working-class upbringing, Mr. Biden won the nod as presumptive presidential nominee Barack Obama's running mate in part because of his appeal to blue-collar Catholics, the same voters who swung during the primary for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.

Although he represents Delaware in the Senate, Mr. Biden grew up in Pennsylvania, a must-win state for Democrats in November.

But the party's hopes of winning the critical Catholic vote took a hit Sunday when Archbishop Charles Chaput of Denver said Mr. Biden should avoid taking Communion as a result of his pro-choice stand on abortion.

Archbishop Chaput, who was scheduled to lead a pro-life candlelight vigil Monday night here in front of Planned Parenthood, called Mr. Biden's support for abortion rights "seriously wrong," said archdiocese spokeswoman Jeanette De Melo.

"I certainly presume his good will and integrity," said the archbishop, "and I presume that his integrity will lead him to refrain from presenting himself for Communion if he supports a false 'right' to abortion."

The archbishop, who was not invited to speak at any convention events in what appeared to be a deliberate snub, told the Associated Press that he would like to speak privately with Mr. Biden.

The debate underscored what has emerged as a central theme of this year's convention: the tension between the Democratic Party's renewed outreach to religious voters and its long-standing support for unfettered access to abortion.

At a panel discussion Monday sponsored by Google on "The Shifting Faith Vote: What It Means for the Election," panelists said that concerns over social issues, such as poverty, are moving some faith-based voters away from the Republican Party.

At the same time, they haven't aligned with the Democrats, primarily because of the abortion issue.
"The push for the Democratic Party is to have a new position on abortion," said Steve Waldman, editor of the religious Web site beliefnet.com. "When you look at Catholics and evangelicals, you see that they agree with 80 percent of what [Mr. Obama] says, but there's this stumbling block with abortion."

Whether pro-choice Catholics should take Communion became a major issue in 2004 during Democrat John Kerry's run for the presidency when more than a dozen bishops, including Archbishop Chaput, publicly asked the senator from Massachusetts not to present himself for the Eucharist.

Their stance may have given a boost to President Bush, who increased his share of the Catholic vote from 47 percent in 2000 to 52 percent in 2004.

Catholics, the nation's largest religious voting bloc, represent 26 percent of the electorate. Alexia Kelley, executive director of Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good, said that 11 percent of those this year are considered "swing voters," more than in any recent election year.

Catholic advocacy groups didn't wait long before weighing in on the "wafer wars." The conservative Catholic group Fidelis condemned the selection of Mr. Biden.

"Now everywhere Biden campaigns, we'll have this question of whether a pro-abortion Catholic can receive Communion. ... Selecting a pro-abortion Catholic is a slap in the face to Catholic voters," said Fidelis President Brian Burch.

In a rare public rebuke of a top politician, the archbishop of Washington said Monday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was incorrect when she recently said the moment of conception has long been a matter of controversy within the Catholic Church.

In a release issued Monday night, Washington Archbishop Donald W. Wuerl said Pelosi's comments on "Meet the Press" on Sunday "were incorrect."

Wuerl noted that Pelosi responded to a question on when life begins by mentioning she was Catholic.

The release quoted Pelosi as saying the church has not been able to come with a definition of when life begins.

???After Mr. Tom Brokaw, the interviewer, pointed out that the Catholic Church feels strongly that life begins at conception, she replied, 'I understand. And this is, like, maybe 50 years or something like that. So again, over the history of the church, this is an issue of controversy,' " the release said.

Wuerl strongly disagrees.

He said, "We respect the right of elected officials such as Speaker Pelosi to address matters of public policy that are before them, but the interpretation of Catholic faith has rightfully been entrusted to the Catholic bishops. Given this responsibility to teach, it is important to make this correction for the record."

Wuerl pointed out that the Catechism of the Catholic Church is clear, and has been clear for 2,000 years. He cited Catechism language that reads, "Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception ??? Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law.???

A Pelosi spokesman did not immediately comment for this article.

USing the term 'fetus' to dehmanize and individual is misleading. A fetus is not an infant just as an infant is not a teenager. These terms just discribe stages of human development but all stages are still human.

Obama is a cruel person! He quotes the bible and admonishes us regarding how to treat everyone yet his behind the scenes political nuanced positions once the curtain is pulled back revealing Obama's true positions and true personality.
