Jill I will assume you voted for Mondale ,Gore and Kerry but i hate to assume...I am a Union Electrican (retired) and I am voting for Obama ...I have never voted republican also...
Jill I will assume you voted for Mondale ,Gore and Kerry but i hate to assume...I am a Union Electrican (retired) and I am voting for Obama ...I have never voted republican also...
Not only did I vote for them, I volunteered my time for them to get elected. I even took the entire month of October, 2004 to go door to door for Kerry. (I only wished I had used that month to do some internet research on Kerry and the other leaders in the Democratic Party.)
This will be the first time EVER that I will be voting for a Republican - unless a strong GOOD third party enters the race. McCain is more liberal than Obama is moderate. And, while he did vote with Bush on immigration - I consider that more of a Democratic vote - since it WAS the Republicans and the working class people of the US who stopped the Bush/Kennedy/McCain/Obama immigrant legislation.
"McCain is more liberal than Obama is moderate. "
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Other than global warming, name ONE issue that McCain is more liberal on than Bush. McCain's advisers are neocons who want more wars or Karl Rove disciples. McCain is anti-choice and opposed legislation that would have helped women fight to get equal pay for equal work. He's flip-flopped on nearly every issue, and always from a more moderate position to a more radical right position.
Spacer -
McCain isn't anti-choice - he's responsible choice!
To Hell with Obama Bin Biden. I nominate Jill from Florida for President.
Red Meat Democrat -
Jill from Florida has definitely demonstrated competence for the office of president in all categories, except possibly for the most important one - is she black, like Obama (sarcasm)?
I'm here at the Dem Conv. enjoying myself I might add. I looked at an upset women.. (a Hillary supporter), who stated "I might vote for john McCain".. I asked her... What type of work do you do? She told me proudly "An accountant for a big six" she stated. I added Are you as good as any man? She looked at me as if I had two heads. I then asked her...Do you realize McCain voted against equal pay for women for equal for equal pay?
teddyo -
Competent women are paid according to their ability - they don't have to rely on equal pay legislation!
Everyone were interested in John Kerry's wife's money, and made a BIG deal of it. Where were you doing this time? Secondly, I didn't hear people talk about Bush's ignorance and lack of experience to be president. Instead it was seen as a good thing. Sure, he was a governor but in Texas, the governor is simply the figure head that signs the checks. Get over it, IcyEyes. You are being mean because Obama is B-L-A-C-K.
Barack Obama is NO DIFFERENT than ANY OTHER FRESHMAN SENATOR, from any state!!!!!!!EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT HE IS B-L-A-C-K and he's attempting to use his color to parlay himself into the White HOuse....Take away his color, and we'd be laughing at the audacity of someone with two years under his belt making such an attempt...It's ridiculious that he's gotten as far as he has without the necessary credentials required to keep our nation safe and FREE...Just say NO to O
TO thehappyamerican, PEOPLE LIKE YOU MAKE ME SICK TO MY STOMACH THAT YOUR KIND COULD ACTUALLY HAVE AN INFLUENCE ON OUR ELECTION AND OUR WAY OF LIFE! I, THANK GOD, AM SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT ANOTHER FOUR YEARS OF REPUBLICANS WILL TOTALLY DESTROY THIS COUNTRY TO THE POINT OF NO RETURN.
You must be a very happy American your own self! You get to influence the election! You live in a great country surounded by Americans! Fantastic people! And can make opertunitys happen people in most other countrys can not!
Why you can even openly state your opinion here!
I like Americans, I trust them to vote wisely! And encourage them to vote!
Hope you feel better soon. Maybe the government health care plan will take care of that for you when it comes... and after you stand in the line... be given an asperin... told to come back some other day... think you're sick now?
Vote freedom first! Say "no" to drugs!
TO THE HAPPY AMERICAN: WHAT DRUGS ARE YOU TAKING FOR GOD'S SAKE?
It's not ME that jumps when DEMs say WEe ALL GOTTA COME TOGETHER: IF WE ALL JUST COME TOGETHER; WE NEEDTO JUST ALL COME TOGETHER!
You tell me what drug it is DEMs take to feel all cuddly, warm and mindless and just jump on the bandwagon when a prominent Democrat invokes this incantation?
Around and around and down and down....
Don't tell me you're trying to bitterly cling to the porcelain!
I'd recommend prevention! Just say NO to that "come-together" drug! If you don't know how to, it's never too late to learn!
LET'S SEE HOW WELL OFF CLINTON HOLDOUTS ARE FINANCIALLY IN FOUR YEARS IF JOHN McCAIN IS ELECTED PRESIDENT. I WOULD GUESS THAT THEY WOULD VERY MUCH REGRET THEIR DECISION TO VOTE FOR JOHN McCAIN.
IF PEOPLE ARE IGNORANT ENOUGH TO VOTE REPUBLICAN THERE IS NOT MUCH THAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT. I JUST WISH I DID NOT HAVE TO BE DRAGGED DOWN WITH THESE PEOPLE WHEN THE REPUBLICANS WIN.
FOR GOD'S SAKE, WHAT DRUGS ARE YOU TAKING?
The media want the Obama ticket to win so badly that they are feeding the public sheer garbage about what Obama can accomplish with Biden at his side. Biden's son is a lobbyist for God's sake. . . so, who is kidding who when with the lies of big, big change with this team.
The simple truth is Obama is a GREEN inexperienced arrogant empty shirt. Nothing racist with my remarks.
Obama needs a man with experience although he has been telling us for the past two years that he can be the President of the United States. THINK ABOUT IT FOLKS.
Think about the last inexperienced man that was elected for two terms and is leaving us with record debt, unhealthy environment and an economy that is shattered.
However, the media want us to think that McCain is going to repeat Bush's failed policies . . . this will not happen. Quite the opposite. Arrogant Obama will try to play the role and flounder about with the old guard advising him. Here is a man who will sell his soul to win this election.
Surprise him. Really surprise him. Send him back to the suburbs of Chicago.

No Regrets for a Love Of Explosives; In a Memoir of Sorts, a War Protester Talks of Life With the Weathermen
By DINITIA SMITH
Published: September 11, 2001
'"I don't regret setting bombs,'" Bill Ayers said. '"I feel we didn't do enough.'" Mr. Ayers, who spent the 1970's as a fugitive in the Weather Underground, was sitting in the kitchen of his big turn-of-the-19th-century stone house in the Hyde Park district of Chicago. The long curly locks in his Wanted poster are shorn, though he wears earrings. He still has tattooed on his neck the rainbow-and-lightning Weathermen logo that appeared on letters taking responsibility for bombings. And he still has the ebullient, ingratiating manner, the apparently intense interest in other people, that made him a charismatic figure in the radical student movement.
HUSSEIN...YOU HAVE BEEN LYING ABOUT YOUR RELATIONSHIP, WITH THIS TRASH......TELL THE TRUTH......We feel YOU haven't done enough.....
NOBAMA!!!
IF ALL DEMOCRATS WILL COME TOGETHER, SENATOR OBAMA WILL WIN THIS ELECTION, AND SAVE US FROM ANOTHER FOUR YEARS OF FAILED REPUBLICAN POLICIES. TO ALL OF YOU STUPID HILLARY HOLDOUTS, SHAME ON YOU! WILL YOU REALLY BE WILLING TO SUBJECT THIS COUNTRY TO ANOTHER FOUR YEARS OF BUSH-McCAIN? I HOPE YOU CONSIDER YOUR DECISION VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU CAST A VOTE FOR JOHN McCAIN. YOU WILL BE VOTING AGAINST YOUR OWN ECONOMIC INTERESTS AND AGAINST YOUR REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS. I AM A PRO LIFE DEMOCRAT BUT I STILL BELIEVE THAT WOMEN SHOULD HAVE DECISION MAKING CONTROL OVER THEIR OWN BODIES. PLEASE, STOP AND THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO DO TO YOUR FUTURE AS WELL AS THE FUTURE OF YOUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN. LET US DEMOCRATS COME TOGETHER AND SAVE THIS COUNTRY. DEMOCRATS ARE THE ONLY HOPE!
"Come together " in DNC-speak means "JUMP on board the Americans Suck First campaign!"
A campaign that is not keeping the DNC approval up at all in how they have been running the US Congress!
Come Together... as the water swirls faster and faster, down and down and there's no finger holds on that slick, white porcelain!
Obama is ultimately much much older than McCain. Obama is deeply rooted in the poison of Malcom X, Frans Fanon, Carmichael, Garvey, resentment, liberation theology, Reverend Wright, Ayers. Where is the Nietzsche that can help us understand this?
i BET YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT FRANTZ FANON. WOULD YOU BE OPPOSED TO HIS POSITION ON COLONIALISM. WHAT ABOUT MALCOLM X, DO YOU KNOW HIS POSITION ON THE ISSUES. CARMICHEAL AND GARVEY STOOD FOR EMPOWERMENT OF BLACK PEOPLE. MUCH OF WHAT GARVEY AND CARMICHAEL SAID WERE TRUE. AS FOR FANON, I GUESS YOU WANT TO GO BACK AND HAVE EUROPEAN POWERS CONTROLLING ALL NATIONS OF COLOR, CORRECT. THEN YOU WOULD ONLY HAVE TO MAKE "COMMUNISM" THE ANTI CHRIST.
You prove my point. Obama is an anachronism.
JUST WHAT I THOUGHT. YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE POSITIONS OF THE PEOPLE YOU MENTION. YOU ONLY HAVE NAMES THAT HAVE BEEN VILIFIED AND YOU REPEAT THEM. ONE THING I CAN TELL YOU ABOUT OBAMA HE HAS READ MATERIALS FROM WHICH HE CAN COME TO CONCEPTS. HE DOES NOT SEE DEVILS BECAUSE SOMEONE SAID THEY ARE DEVILS. WAKE P SO YOU CAN SAVE YOURSELF FROM YOURSELF.
its easy to say Obama is rooted in what ever you would like to say BUT that don't make it true...I could say you were deeply rooted in the KKK but that would not make it true...just because that what I want to believe don't make it true....(i hope your not a KKK member just uninformed)
If I was a close friend of David Duke, you would be justified in assuming that I was deeply rooted in the KKK. Don't you remember your parents saying that you are judged by who your associates are?
Jill from Florida -
Your assumption that blogger's parents had ever made the statement - you are judged by who your associates are - may be inaccurate.
Just because your parents said that to you doesn't necessarily mean that other parents make that same comment to their children.
Case in point - notice the vast number of democrats who readily overlook Obama's sordid circle of friends and associates.
And his years of cocaine use.
Read his autobiograpy.
Comment: Since there seem to be so many stories about Obama, and posts with links to his statements; well here are a few for John McCain:

pearsoncrz: The "McCain equals Bush" strategy is obviously not working, ...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe not, but that doesn't change the fact that McCain DOES equal Buah. He voted in lockstep for Bush's policies 95% of the time in the Senate last year. When Republican governor Mark Sanford was asked on CNN what distinguished McCain from Bush, he stammered and hemmed and hawed and couldn't think of a SINGLE thing. Blue collar voters who don't like Bush but vote for McCain anyway because he's white are going to be in for a rude shock after the third Bush term commences. It will probably be worse than Bush II. Bush actually has moderated some of the cowboy diplomacy that was so disastrous in his first term, as evidenced by his moderation in dealin gwith North Korea. But McCain has learned nothing after being in the Senate for decades; he's itching for another war or two and he may start one as soon as he gets sworn in.
Why do you Obama supporters have to say that a McCain supporter is racist? We have long gotten past looking at the color of someone's skin. We look at character. It is people like you who pull the race card. Why don't you for once take responsibility for your own actions instead of blaming the rest of the world?
Jill i don't think people who vote for McSame are racist...i just think there memory's are like McBush's they can't remember that when President Clinton left office he had left bush with a budget surpuls of 211 BILLION ...we had fiscal discipline...every one who wanted to work had a job...we were at peace...and would had had health care for all Americans id it wasn't for the republicians...race has nothing to do with it..."ITS THE ECONOMY STUPID"...what scares me about McSame he is to old he cant even remember how many houses he has or what kind of car he drives and when he make a stuipd remark all he can say is I was a pow...We dont need another stupid president like bush....just wondering can you tell me how many houses you have and what kind of car you drive...if you can your smarter than McOld
You forget about NAFTA. Since that is a recent memory of most, look up in the Congressional records, HR 3450 (11/20/1993) to see exactly who voted for and against NAFTA. Moderates of both sides voted against it. Big Business Republicans voted for it. The surprise is only 41% of the Democrats voted for NAFTA - and MOST of them were in Obama's corner from the get-go (Durbin, Kennedy, Kerry, Pelosi, Hoyer, Dodd) Those who are no longer in Congress (Daschle, Hart, Nunn, Mitchell) are lobbyists for free trade and/or globalization. The neoliberal Democrats are great liars. While they tell us they are against NAFTA, they write, they vote for it, and they work to get more free trade. We have all been suckered by them in the past. Some of us now know that they are just appeasing us for their own personal benefit. (Obama included)
By the time Bush took office - manufacturing was virtually gone. Without a strong manufacturing base and a large population, the economy is doomed.
So McCain is a Big Business republican because he voted for NAFTA and all free trade agreements. Glad you clarified that McCain is no moderate.
What about Obama's mental facilities? He introduced Joe Biden as the next PRESIDENT OF THE UNTIED STATES. Isn't he a little young for senility? Or is it all the drugs he took as a youth?
As for Cindy McCain's homes and investment houses, tell me exactly what your spouse spent last year and how much everything cost. Put things into perspective. Cindy McCain is independently financially wealthy and her finances are completely separate from John McCain's. Asking him how many houses she owns is like asking you about your spouse's spending habits.
his mental facilities? His brain is a toilet?
Jill from Florida -
Regarding Obama's mental facilities - yesterday he didn't even know where he was.
He had to rely on his 7 year old daughter to allow him to "set himself straight" in that regard!
Now if John McCain had introduced his VP candidate as the presidential candidate, or if he had stated that he was in a different city, I'm sure that the main stream media would accuse him of suffering from senility and an advanced stage of Alzheimer's disease.
I didn't say all McCain supporters are racists. The ones who still think Bush is great aren't necessarily racists. But what other explanation is there besides race for someone who doesn't like Bush's policies to vote for McCain, who's voted for Bush's legislative agenda 95% of the time and who shares Bush's belligerance and lack of intellectual curiosity?
I believe it's called weakness.
The only purpose to be elected as the President should be to improve the well-being of Americans. As shown in this article, Obama's purpose seems to win the election. With vague policies, voters doubt whether he is aware or even passionate in solving Americans' problems. Obama has to walk out of this dark image immediately.
Your comments are rediculous, in order for one to be the President, they have to win an election. So the purpose is to first win the election, then be president.
I had planned on Voting for Obama when I thought that Hillary Clinton would be his running mate. Let's face the fact that elections are won and lost on capital infusions. Usually the Republicans have enough financial muscle to get whatever they want when they need it. Who are we kidding? But by not choosing Hillary Clinton as his running mate, he essentially throws away all the financial roadwork she laid down, and someone that foolish does not deserve to be president. I thought he was going to "reach across the aisle" to work with someone he had real problems with. If he can't work with the Clintons what makes us think he can reach across the further aisle of the Republican base. I give up. I say let's just let the Republicans have another election so they can start WWIII and we can all go out with a bang instead of a whimper. Obama is Republican-light. Half the calories and none of the excitement. Oh yeah, change. Because that's all he'll have to tackle this election. Change. Brother, can you spare a dime?
You have to vote for the party if you want change. Obama will be well surrounded, with intelligent people and i am sure Hillary won't be very far either. So make up your mind!!
We cannot afford having the republicans in the white house or they will sink the boat!
We can't afford to let Obama divide our nation the way he has divided the democratic party.
I would argue that Hillary Clinton divided the Democratic party.
We get it you wanted Obama to be VP not President, we get it
There can only be one president. The job of the VP is to step in SHOULD the President no longer be capable of leading our country. In this case... maybe Obama felt at the end HRC just wouldn't stay in her lane as VP.. I think Obama might have chosen HRC if she dropped out as soon as she ran out of money. By holding on so long, she killed her own chance.at vp for a shot at pres. The lack of cash really turned her campaign ugly. Had she won she would have to use money intended for the election to pay bills.
.
You are aware that Obama has out raised Clinton and McCain combined right? If you are just being facious about letting the Republicans get back into office, ok; if you are serious, than i weep for your children, if you have any, which i'd assume you dont based on that comment.
And please for all the idiots outhere, stop asking to your leaders about their moral values. If you cannot see how happy and well balanced Obama's family is, you are worst than I thought. You attached way too much importance to things who are not that important. As long as the candidates are not Jack the ripper, what do you care about their moral values? They have the right to privacy, just like anyone else! No politicians in europe would have to proove those things. If you need moral values, go hang around your preacher, though they are not the ones with the best moral values if you ask me.
Maybe you should go back to Europe then . . .
I am going back! to a better quality of life, to a safer country, and to more intellectual people! I just cannot wait!
You have got to be the biggest idiot on theses boards. And whats with this "we need to vote obama" ***, you can't vote , you have no say, go back to your precious France where unemployment is 25%, and you can keep all the money and the education (well, you don't sound very educated and your grammer and spelling sucks, but anyway) that you got here in OUR great country. The last thing we need is a piece of *** like you ruining our AMERICAN values, GO home and don't the let door hit you in the ass on your way out you Idiot!
The unemployment level in France is at 7.9%, nor 25%
that should say not 25%
Good for you if you never voted republican! Any one not making over 200.000 is shooting himself in the foot when voting for them!! Funny how many, still do not understood that.
I am so sick of us pandering to the so called "hard working white voter." Why is it okay to pander to this group, but the moment someone markets themselves to black voters, they are trying to play the race card, or they're being disingenuous. The best excuse I've heard, America is made up of more than this group.
The black voters Obama did not have to pander to cuz they jumped on board hook, line, and sinker with no regard with any regard for the Clintons who wholeheartedly were there back in the 90s to go ful force to make life better for African Amercians. But all that went out the window when they saw that they had a Black democratic candidate to unabashedly migrate to with no regards to what the Clinton Admin. did for them. And then to ad insullt to that, they were accused of being racists by Obama and his camp. I am totally disgusted with the whole hypocrisy put upon the Clintons after their being so dedicated to the black community's causes.
sharenews: The problem with views like yours is that they display the ugly hipocrisy that exists in America, when a credentialed african-american comes to the table in any endeavor. You cut them to shreds by showcasing that for one reason or another, their accomplishments cannot be equated to the same type of accomplishment as yours, thereby marginalizing their efforts. If I'm not mistaken, the Obamas attended both Columbia, Princeton and Harvard, whereas the Clintons attended Yale, Georgetown, etc. Both camps attended the upmost colleges and grad schools in the world. So why would the Obama's, in the words of the Clintons, have to feel that they own the african-american dream? And vision?
Let's call it for what it is: (1) the Clintons used the african-american base (particularly the southern vote) in this country to get the votes that they needed to win 12 years ago, with an eye to keep this demographic in their pockets should Hillary chose to run down the road, (2) they were quite upset and disingenous to the Obamas when Obama wanted to naturally be the hope of african-americans (rightfully so as a black man in america), and this eroded the Clinton power base.
Bill and Hillary have done wonderful things for all impoverished and well-doers in this country. But to say that blacks are disingenous foe supporting someone who represents our story more than the Clintons, is darn inaccurate.
The problem with your premise is that you assume Obama is more "credentialed" than Clinton. If, as you say, they both have the same educational background, then her experience in the real world makes her the better candidate because she actually worked in production jobs alongside the kind of voters Obama can't connect with, she actually worked with women to establish a real foundation for peace in Ireland, actually practiced law and worked for women and children, garnering awards for her efforts, the list of HRC's accomplishments is too long to itemize here, and doesn't make any difference now. Obama appealed to black voters who saw him as an answer to the African-American dream and cut Hillary Clinton to shreds in order to make sure he was the nominee, and now he is reaping the division they have sown.
What did he expect HRC to do, just bow out and not even run? He knew better. And now he will lose and the dream won't be realized. He should have waited. He would have learned so much as her VP, which would itself have been the realization of an African-American dream, and would have put the democrats in line for sixteen years in the white house. But he was too impatient, to self focused.
The democratic party will never be the same again. Obama took is taking it too far left of center to be viable in the future. Pushing the Clintons toward the exit was just plain stupid.
Clinton worked in production jobs? She worked as an attorney.
Finally, I've waited to see what was REALLY eating you. I've been following your energy sapping comments for a while. This cost less than therapist...bravo.
why can't i just not like obama because his policies are marxist?
his stance on abortion is like something out of logans run. his energy policy sounds like a freshman year essay full of optimism and hope and fairies and elves generating more power. you think clinton/bush pushed jobs out of the country with free-trade? wait untill obama wants to tax the crap out of them to make the prolitariate feel better...jobs will leave in droves.
and in a world of russian aggression, chinese expansion and radical terrorism, obama's "play nice" foreign policy scares me.
I'm not sure I understand what you are saying. I have many objections to Obama. I won't vote for a candidate who admits using cocaine for years, and I don't trust a Chicago trained pay to play politician, especially one who can not point to any good works for others in his life. He lacks substance because he knows that taking a stand on something is more difficult than making pretty speeches about "hope and change" -- here's a quote for you from Obama himself:
"The nature of politics is that you want to have everybody like you and project the best possible traits onto you,??? he says. ???Oftentimes, that???s by being as vague as possible, or appealing to the lowest common denominators."
Some jump in because they remembered Bill Clinton wife was Hillary. Some people jumped in because it was George Bush's son. it happens...
Obama should have waited his turn after Clinton and not been so egotistical. He???s not ready. Shame on him! Hillary would have won, and with Bill by her side they could have solved many of our problems. Instead, all we hear about is race. And the fact he played the race card against Bill Clinton and Geraldine is completely unacceptable!!! The Democrats shot themselves in the foot again and left the country to the wolves. What in the world were they thinking????? Obama will not win.
Shame on him for winning? What are you talking about? Hillary wasn't chosen. The choice now is to get behind the candidate and put our Democratic values back in the White House. The primary is over, OVER! Hillary supporters, move on!
There is also the choice to vote for McCain, who won't run for a second term and who won't be able to do anything without approval from a democratic congress. Let Obama go prove that he can work across the aisle to shape legislation that addresses our problems. So far he is nothing more than a sophist.
Like McCain has learned to work accross the ailes, working with four democrats in the keating five scandal?
Good idea, let's....
I am sorry, but Bill and Geraldine played the race card. Bill, "After all, Jesse Jackson won South Carolina in 1984 and 1988." Geraldine. ???If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman of any color, he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.???
especially if you petty clinton supporters can't get over your hurt feelings. i loved bill clinton in office and i think that hillary would have made a great president, BUT she lost. grow up
she lost because dem's fell in love with an idea. like a young woman that goes to a wedding and falls in love with the idea of being in love. she marries the first "exciting" guy that comes along only to discover that he has all kinds of baggage. 2 years later: divorce.
i think some (maybe a lot) of the razz-a-ma-tazz of OBAMAMANIA has worn off. it's sad to see some high profile dems wistfully stare into the distance as the full of impact of their choice comes into sharp, horrific clarity: this guy is struggling to beat a weak republican in a year that would have been a slam dunk for any other vialbe candidate. (see: hillary)
crap.
