    Rushing84 you should educate yourself before criticizing me. First off, you're an idiot to assume that legislators mandate punishments on crack harder than others because it's a primarily "black" drug. Are you serious?! Acid and Extasy are primarily "white" drugs and having more than a couple hits on you lands stiff punishment too. There goes your theory....

    Bill Cosby felt so strongly about the absentee black father that he wrote a book alienating himself from a large percentage of his culture. Rather than recognizing the problem and taking heed of his warning, they chose to disgard his advice and criticize him as an "Uncle Tom.". As mentioned in other posts, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. Whites can't ask the "ghetto" African-Americans to act respectable and take care of themselves; its' time they policed their own and held them accountable for their actions.

    And don't for one second act like BET is all music videos-comedians who openly make fun of white people and their stereotypes say things WORSE than what got Don Imus fired. Their special, American Gangster, glorifies the criminal lifestyle and that can't be good for young black children watching that station. In response to your mention of HBO, they are conducting an expose called BLACKLIST so I don't see how you can say it's a white station.

    And YES, it has been a varitable handful of inventions contributed by blacks to society. There have been millions of inventions-exactly how many of the signicant ones WEREN'T created by whites? Then factor in that blacks AREN'T the minority in other cultures and the proportions are even more telling. You want me to "face my history" and be held accountable for slavery and whites taking the Indians' land. It's hilarious to me that everyone criticizes us for it, but blacks have NO PROBLEM enjoying the spoils of war and life in our country. What are conditions like in Africa right now? Were the Indians technologically advanced or were they hunting with spears and living in cowhide tents on the freezing prairies? Okay, so people are starving in Africa and living in poverty while the AIDS rate skyrockets and villages kill each other. That sounds an awful lot like many portions of black society in America stricken with gang violence. But geez, those white people, they're holding blacks down.

    Stop blaming white people for your problems and take care of yourselves. Indians, Koreans, Vietnamese, Chinese, and other cultures have managed to succeed in America immediately. Get off the "poor me" attitude and step up to the plate. Slavery ended over a hundred years ago and we're still being drowned in guilt. Jews were exterminated by the Nazi party in WWII (long after the end of slavery) and managed success in German and America long ago. Why can' you?

        It actually lowers the bar for them and holds others back while they catch up. I don't think they need it personally. I have never met a black person with ambition that could be held down by the man, the woman, or anyone for that matter. Affirmative action is an insult to the black community if you ask me. It's like saying you can't win a race if you start from the same starting point as everyone else so here ya go, 15 yrd lead. Kinda takes away from the glory of winning the race if you ask me, but hey, thats just my opinion.

          People tend to forget that AA was not put in place just for minority races but for women specifically also. By the wayAll of the reports that I have read as an adult, I am 45 reference White Women as benefiting from AA more so than any other group,

            I understand white women benefit tremendously from AA. I can only speak of my own personal experiences and the people I surround myself with. I can see why ASKPLUS would feel like black folk need help and couldn't possibly be successful without AA. He was raised by racist parents (self admitted)who raised him to believe blacks are inferior to whites. He doesn't believe you have the genetic make up to be as smart as a white person. However, I was raised in a diverse community and diverse school system. I understand the difference is pigmentation, which has no bearing on intelligence. May I ask what exactly is the problem with my thinking an ambitious black person can achieve anything a white person could without AA?

I also said that I lived my entire life in the neighborhood rainbow with all walks of life - so I embrace culture.             Mr. Sportslock09 claims he has a mixed-race child/daughter also. I wonder if he knows there are people out there who blog exactly like him, that will never give his girl a chance?               I would like to believe my daughter wouldn't want to be employed by people such as yourself and your family of racist. I would also believe that because I bust my azz saving for her future, if she didn't earn her way through college, I will have the means to pay by then. And of course their are loans and other ioptions if need be. But to think my daughter may excel above and beyond her peers and have her accomplishment minimized because every black person has to have AA to be successful according to you?

              I think that would make me much sadder then say, knowing she's qualified, and is an asset, and can seek employment elsewhere.

        The history of immigrants in this country that have come here willingly is different than that of African Americans. It is like comparing apples and oranges.         Muji happens to be after a pet just so you know and not a foreign one. I was a marine as well and pop to attention every time I hear the natl anthem and a flag passes by. Sorry I am just not as gullable as a bunch of people so eager for change they will jump on the Obama bandwagon. If it sounds to good to be true it probably is. He got the nomination so stick to the facts without a pro-Obama slant about something of this magnitude. Who has gotten more death threats? Obama or Tiger Woods? Look at the sensationalized title. And last month or whatever they reported that that nut threatened Obama and then in the middle mentioned oh yeah he threated to kill Bush too. These unsubstantiated stories should not be sensationalized or conjectured at. You're just going to encourage other nuts so they can get their 15 seconds before they blow themselves cooking meth.

    This whole story has a real "Wag The Dog" feel to it. Remember the movie about the WH press secretary and the movie producer creating a a fake war/crisis in a fake foreign country to distract the media's attention from the president's "indescretions" and to bolster his approval ratings?
    It seems to me that this story is a case of Obama's mainstream media heelhounds and his campaign staff recalling Ronald Reagan's meteoric rise in popularity after the attempt on his life. Never mind his economic/military policies, Reagan garnered the sympathy vote. I can believe this because so far Obama's big convention bump in the stats has been a whopping 1% with several percentage points for an error margin. McCain's life has been threatened numerous times since he first sought the nomination in 2000. Why hasn't it been covered? Because he doesn't want to. The senator has stated on numerous occasions that he doesn't hold his own life in any higher regard than anyone else's, and at his request the cases were not publicized. That says a lot about the kind of man he is.

    I love how people blame all the problems the US has had on Bush...honestly if anyone is to blame it's Cheney...he's responsible for feeding misinformation to the president along with Rumsfeld...and if you pay attention to any of the politics that have gone on in the past 4 years...most of the problems that occurred in Bush's initial term have either been corrected or gotten rid of whether it be because they realized how bad of a job they were doing or because they really started figuring things out...not to mention Rumsfeld was out of his job...and Cheney has had less of a role to play....I honestly think that Bush is not the one to blame the majority on...it's the people below him...Bush's only problem was trusting them...

        To believe that Bush is not to blame is, frankly, to allow him to pass the buck for arguably the worst presidency in American history. Yes, I know he surrounded himself with seedy, manipulative folks, but either HE chose those folks or HE didn't care enough to ask the necessary questions. His lack of intellectual curiosity and personal responsibility has cost this country dearly, and I'll be darned if I'm going to let him off easy.

        Sure, I blame Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld--all these people. And they deserve a huge amount of blame. But at the end of the day, the person in the Oval Office is supposed to be the one calling the shots and accepting responsibility for stewardship of the country. It's as simple as that.

        The only people I can blame for the last eight years more than Bush are the people who voted for him. If our democracy is truly flourishing, then our government is a reflection of us. We need to look at the mirror before we blame anyone else but ourselves for the government we get.

    Why do all of you look alike. At the convention outside the center I noticed 9 males with McCain signs, and shirts, screaming the usual republican Obama hate. They were there to stir up the delegates but it did not work. As I looked them over I noticed they all had the same look in there faces, there eye's, they were all white like these three. If there mothers had used her right to choose it would have been a good thing.

    As Obama said a woman decision to have an abortion is one that is very difficult and troubling to them. It is a decision they must be burdened with for the rest of their life. This is very realistic, what a President have to look at is providing alternatives and resources that will provide women with better opportunities so they can have kids. Think about where health care, and employment is today.

    People you just hate Obama because he is black, but if you are white remember he is also half white regardless to what your one drop rules say. He is educated, but he has to take so much caution with anything he says because the media shreds him to pieces. This is a lot of pressure.     As I set hear and read these comments while waiting for sprint to get back on the line, I can't believe my eyes. Everyone wants to be an expert on Obama bitrth place or his relegion. We have a week economy, white and blacks share that equally, we have high gas prices which again whites and blacks share equally, we have a high rate of foreclosures again whites and blacks are filling that. (YES black folk own homes too). Both races have problems with absent fathers in some cases absent mothers, both races have a high rate of welfare users, and you have some black folk live in the ghetto (poverty) and white live in trailers (the white ghetto). So you see, we all have a problem that can be fixed. What that entales is; instead of complaining, lets help clean-up, you see a single mother in the hood or traier park who stuggling with keeping clothes on her childrens back look in your closets and help out. If you see an elderly person with a bunch of cat food with no cats lgive some of can goods, don't just talk about it, be about it. I hear a lot of complaining but what I don't hear is solutions. If you see a single mom or dad who warks nights and leave the child home alone, keep a watch out, volunteer to keep the child until they get home. Help a child to read. America will be better if we start from the bottom. Obama and Biden are sticking their necks out to bring that home again. We can do this(YES WE CAN). People trust and believe in the good Lord and allow GOD to speak to your hearts and mind. We can make it if we try. PEACE

Will you please look at the hated confederate flag and can you then tell me what flag it represents? Can you please do your history homework and acknowledge that the Brittish were at fault here? That the south at that time were comprised of British colonies? That the True United States shed blood to abolish slavery and kick the British colonies butt and to take down the british flag forever? Instead of hating the United States of America for the British deeds you should be thanking my forefathers for shedding their blood for people that they didn't even know had nothing to do with. This country was built off the blood of people who fought for ALL of our freedoms and my family bled and busted their backs pioneering this country by their own labors not any one elses.

                    BRM read some of my other posts. I believe in the statement I make on a daily basis, "There is one race its called the human race" I am not excusing the fact that slavery happened or that others jumped on the band wagon of using slave labor. It has been a fact since the beginning of time and not with just people with dark skin. I am guilty as charged I did not have the opportunity to read your post as I posted mine prior to or at the same time as you did. You are very prickley. I have many friends who have dark complexions born here and from Africa whom I have gotten most of my information from regarding the slavery of Africans. It all started in Africa by Africans. Christians and Jews were also used as slave labor, Asians as well. Its been a fact of life since the beginning of time and we have all had ancestors who were enslaved at one time or another. To me there is no classification of race by skin color nor is there any classification of slavery by skin color. Slaves were shipped on British ships and it just so happened that the south was British colonies and that is a documented fact here as well as in England. It was fought against here as well as in England also. No man who believes in God believes any man should be enslaved for any reason. God created ALL men in his image,

                I'm sorry BRM but the entire country was not built off the backs of black slaves. The South yes and the southern ancestors will answer for their sins in the fires of hell. America may be the melting pot or the salad or whatever loose term a person uses but the fact remains that many different people were abused to build this great country. Yes blacks were dealt the meanest hand, but Asians, Irish, Mexicans, Indians...they were not fairly treated either. Its time to put that horse to rest and move on...as the rest of us have.

The whites with their innovation outside the racist ideology, also the ones that stood to abolish the sins of slavery. Blacks would have had a tougher time without them to rise above..       Don't forget the "white guilt" vote. I had a discussion with a friend of mine in San Francisco, and his vote for Obama will be based on his view "it's time a black man be elected president because of all the repression and injustice they have suffered." Not that he would have voted any other way anyway, but that reason alone is reason for alarm.

      actually I do have several African friends and many Black American friends there is a big difference. Yes i am aware of the issues of health care of which my family has none because we can not afford it and I work so the government wont give me a hand out. the problem is that to many people feel they are owed this things instead of earning them. I am also intelligent enough to do reasearch before i open my mouth and blast people for voicing their opinion. your comment about Global Warming, what reasearch have you done into the matter? or are you simply listening to the Al Gore's of the world beating their drum because the need attention. the actual scientist's of the planet have proven that the warming of the earth has little to do with what these saviors on a soapbox are claiming, but rather the immense amount of solar activitiy and that the earth periodicly warms and cools. The last warming period was at the end of the last Ice Age when the ice melted, and guess what, their were no cars or pollution then.

McCain has publicly stated on numerous occasions that his greatest moral failing was his 1st marriage and that the blame lay soley on his shoulders.
      As for the statements he made in captivity, it would do you well to recall the late ADM Jim Stockdale's memoir in which he stated that the vaunted Code of Conduct goes out the window when you are being starved, beaten, tortured and raped without respite and kept in solitary confinement. Yes you read that right-I said RAPED! Read the book sometime. One of the 1st things they teach in SERE School (which you evidently didn't attend!) is that the CoC is good in theory but if you become a POW they will break you sooner or later.
