I watched the entire convention on C-Span tv live and there has been little interference from pundits and newscasters. Thank you God! I will never watch another political event on the other major networks again. They have no respect for this historic event so busy creating false drama. The Democrats are united. PERIOD!

I can't believe the fighting on MSNBC! Chris fight with Keith, Keith is fighting with everyone, David and Joe had a fight too. They are out of control. Then they miss the best stuff. They have way to many talking heads. Cut 70 % of the people, show more convention. Chris mentioned several times that they did not mention Guantanamo and tourture. Kerry make a big deal out of it, but they were busy Talking way too much. I love their shows but this week I am totally CSPANing.

go to Glennbeck.com or Youtube and find the Obama Anthem.
Funniest thing I have seen since the JibJab video.
Russian national anthem with the words changed.
Glenn Beck...a fresh voice in a tired MSM world.

Thanks for the tip about CSpan - all speakers could be heard without all the over the top analysis and drama.

I can't wait for Cindy's speech... she's certainly not all poodle, just mostly.

    • Posted By: mrzoid @ 08/26/2008 8:19:28 PM

Yeah, she's at least 20% synthetic from plastic surgeons.

      • Posted By: teddyo @ 08/26/2008 8:36:11 PM

Cindy knows her husband left his last wife when she stop looking so good. So she has to go under the knife to keep him.. I think someone should remind McCain how he looks.

        • Posted By: sharenews @ 08/28/2008 12:41:56 AM

Actually when McCain was released from POW and returned to Carol, his first wife who had changed over 5 1/2 years he did not just go out and divorce her. He ended up continuing his marriage to her for 8 or 9yrs and then divorced her later after hooking up with Cindy. He still cheated on his wife ultimately. But they did have years of marriage after POW return to Carol. Not like he came home, looked at her and said Yikes (although he might have). Lol. Anyway just a tidbit of addl info on the suject.

I completely agree with most of your article but also have to point out an error. You said of Michelle "The speech looked like it had been rehearsed down to the last hand-flutter". You've been listening to the pundits. Michelle has given this basic speech for 19 months now and all her audiences have loved it. The graciousness you saw last night was all her, she's not hard and tough or anti-white in any way shape or form.

    • Posted By: loriw @ 08/27/2008 2:17:46 AM

She has been reprogrammed by the handlers. And now says only what they have approved for her to say in public.

      • Posted By: neos @ 08/27/2008 6:17:54 AM

In the same way that you have been programmed by your handlers Rush and Hannity??

        • Posted By: loriw @ 08/28/2008 12:18:10 AM

Ask anyone that knows me ...no one handles me. I have never ever watched or listened to Hannity. I don't like Rush, I think he is a self absorbed bully. And you know nothing about me.

BREAKING NEWS. . . more issues about Obama:

SHARENEWS: Passing on information that the MainStreamMedia as a whole will only suppress. I post this here for you to read, digest and be the judge as to what you believe or not:

OBAMA? A man of Integrity? A man of good Judgment? A man of good Character? I dont think so. How do you explain this?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfaUeYXUDxU

Barack Obama had a close relationship with William Ayers (who is an admitted unapologetic terrorist of the Weather Underground back in the 60s who served on the Board in which Obama also served). And Michelle and Williams wife served in the same Law firm also. In fact, the Woods Funds Investments have included investments for this radical group:

ACORN: This is a LIBERAL ACTIVIST GROUP, notorious for voter registration FRAUD and even paying for votes using crack cocaine.

Operating in at least 38 states (as well as Canada and Mexico), ACORN pushes a highly partisan agenda, and its organizers are best understood as shock troops for the AFL-CIO and even the Democratic Party.

ACORN and its affiliates have pulled some real stunts in recent years. In Ohio in 2004, a worker for one affiliate was given crack cocaine in exchange for fraudulent registrations that included underage voters, dead voters and pillars of the community named Mary Poppins, Dick Tracy and Jive Turkey. During a Congressional hearing in Ohio in the aftermath of the 2004 election, officials from several counties in the state explained ACORNs practice of dumping thousands of registration forms in their lap on the submission deadline, even though the forms had been collected months earlier. (SHARENEWS: As I remember in the primaries there was one particular state that held out the votes as described here that had the news media in an uproar trying to find out what the hrs and hrs of delay were about. . . ). Hmmmmm.

Given this history, its not surprising that ACORN is so hostile to voter identification laws and other efforts to ensure fairness and accuracy at the polls.

OBAMAS ACORN INVOLVEMENT EXPOSED (PART 1 OF 2):

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8Ep1tkNOUU

ACORN is the group Obama was a community organizer for prior to his systematic trashing of all of his political opponents resulting in his ascension to his short career as a State and then U.S. Senator. ACORN has been convicted of hiring people to fraudulently register and then vote in several states via absentee ballot as many times as they wish. In Ohio 2004 one person registered as Jive Turkey and was reported to have been paid in Crack Cocaine. Thanks for blowing the whistle on ACORN.

OBAMAS ACORN INVOLVEMENT EXPOSED (PART 2 OF 2):

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=625jUE78zjE&feature=related

Then there is the Annenberg foundation relationship that Ayers and Obama started up for education that is in the process of being fleshed out based on all the documentation that have since been discovered. . . To be continued. . . .

Hey, kenbojoe, 'most' people find Opera, and Shakespeare 'boring'. 'Most' people haven't got a clue, and are willing to be victims all their lives. Just being intellectually honest, you know?

    • Posted By: kenbojoe @ 08/27/2008 10:03:14 AM

It's fine if you don't think the bulk of the convention is boring. My guess is most do. Most don't want to hear speeches from county chairpersons or the guy that delivered pizza to Obama while he was in college. Most want to hear the speeches from people they recognize like Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, etc. If you want the 4-hour long convention from start to finish, C-Span is your outlet. If you want the "gaps" filled in, like most people, then the networks are the place for you.

My point was, people claim their problem with the talking heads is their mere presence, when in actuality, their real gripe is what they have to say about their candidate. Otherwise, why not just tune into C0Span and be done with it?

      • Posted By: loriw @ 08/28/2008 12:13:37 AM

Yeah I wanted to hear Pelosi tell us all again that the Catholic Church does not know when life begins as if she is such a scholar of theology and an expert in embryology! What a blathering idiot she is.

  • Posted By: kittybong @ 08/27/2008 12:13:27 PM

I agree. The pundits are ruining the coverage of the convention. Why would I want to listen to them all night? I want to hear the speeches and have more coverage on the floor. Having to wait until after 10:00 p.m. for Michelle and Hillary's speeches is also an inconvenience. Much too late for good coverage in the eastern time zone.

Michelle's speech was too contrived. Much too "Brady" bunch for the intellectual crowd and seasoned political junkies. Her remarks did not appeal to me - an ardent Hillary supporter.

Hillary's remarks were on target. She did what she had to do - and she did it her way. Can't wait for Bill Clinton's speech.

The Obama's must be secretly seething. They deserve to be. They did not treat the Clinton's properly.

Hillary asked you... were you just voting for her?... or for the country to move in a Democratic direction.

      • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 08/27/2008 4:36:04 PM

And so why did you vote for Obama, was it just because he is young and black? Because he borrowed all of his policy positions from Hillary, he didn't come up with any of his own.

I'm voting for McCain for a variety of reasons, including the fact that I won't vote for a man who admits using cocaine for years. I wouldn't vote for a man who admitted using cocaine for dog catcher, much less POTUS.

McCain wouldn't be able to do anything without approval from the democratic congress, and I trust him more than I do Obama. You have to look at what Obama has actually done and ignore what he says he's done, because half of what he claims is simply not true.

And then there is the infanticide thing. I am pro-choice, but if a woman can't decide whether to have a baby by the fourth month, then too bad! Abortions should not be available when the fetus is viable. The only exception should be if the pregnancy actually threatens the mother's life, and even then the baby should be given a chance to live.

        • Posted By: loriw @ 08/28/2008 12:08:46 AM

          VERY well said pearsoncrz

      • Posted By: kittybong @ 08/27/2008 1:55:46 PM

I was voting for her because she had the best program and the best chance for a democrat to win in November.

    • Posted By: debmitz @ 08/27/2008 2:16:32 PM

Even as a republican, I have to admit that Hillary did an excellent job in her speech. I wasn't sure what to expect, but she did do a great job. And, NO, I am NOT a Bush fan.

  • Posted By: rafting @ 08/27/2008 1:12:28 PM

The tv pundits are absolutely annoying. I'm especially frustrated with CNN with the constant pundit interruptions and the networks' commercials. I did complain to CNN on Monday but did not expect a response to it and I was proven correct. How are voters going to make their own informed decisions when the information is sparse and the analysis not always on point? Take Senator Clinton's anticipated speech-I felt she would do what was necessary for the party and herself and not leave any doubts that her supporters should vote for Senator Obama. Some of the pundits had a different view. Well, we all know now that she did strongly urge them to support the nominee.

THEY DON"T WANT US TO MAKE UP OUR OWN MINDS; they want us to vote for the candidate they already elected many months ago...Obama.

My husband and I went through all the usual channels before hitting on CSpan as well. It was extremely irritating to see the newscasters going on and on while the real show was being broadcast over. Let us make up our own minds what we think of the speeches and goings on. We don't mind hearing what the newscasters have to say, but do it AFTER the speeches, not during. Are they all that self important and self absorbed?

  • Posted By: marykn5 @ 08/27/2008 2:25:12 PM

I totally agree that the pundits and commentators need to get out of the way. Real journalism is a lost art. When the commentators are interviewing other commentators, the listeners go to the fridge.

    • Posted By: loriw @ 08/28/2008 12:03:23 AM

Your last statement is so true! And they can't figure out why their ratings keep going down.
Yeah, PBS! DNC coverage with out the fluff and stuff you don't need!

Try watching it on Cspan. You don't have all those annoying boxes that outline what the speaker what the speaker JUST said, like we are idiots. You also don't have talking heads or pundits, that MUST be smarter than us, talking over the speakers interpreting for us what they are saying. There are no tickers that diminish the attention and respect that the speakers deserve. What do the networks think? That we are all ADHD?

They wasted the second day as well. [and for the second time in two days, the Chris Matthews Bomb exploded over more dumbass remarks by the Obama-sycophantic Olbermann, who is showing himself and the rest of the MSNBC herd that they are unable to keep control of their own coverage of the convention]. The breakdown began with an exchange between the slavishly leftwinged Schuster and the moderate Republican Scarborough, whose damning indictment of his own news service caused most American eyes to go off the convention ball in order to keep track of what antics the MSNBC crew would pull next. They did not have long to wait,as Matthews exploded on Olbermann on Day Two for Olbys inclusion of Matthews as ''a bigmouth'',which unhinged the portly former hack for Massachusetts liberal lion Tip O'Neill who began a shouting match with the suave satrap who has become more like Joe McCarthy, and less like his idol Ed Murrow.
American ''news''services are blind to the damage they are wreaking on their own reputations by acting like halfwitted Howard brothers [ Three Stooges, less Larry Fine]. Indeed,at MSNBC,it seems that eye-boinking and fist-to-forehead slamming is right around the next corner. Who will believe anything these overpaid idiots have to say from now on[if they were gulled enough to believe them in the first place]?

    • Posted By: Galasso @ 08/27/2008 9:03:34 PM

I could not agree with you more. The power of the press is the most unchecked and effective influence in modern campaigning. Fortunately, the part of the population we call the thinking public can discern the difference between political hacks like Olbermann, Matthews, and Schuster posited as legitimate news sources and the real thing. I would have never believed it, but even CNN is more credible than MSNBC. It has almost become a caricature of itself.

  • Posted By: Mimi13 @ 08/27/2008 8:13:54 PM

Just adding some agreement. I usually enjoy MSNBC. I know the commentators and their point of view -- mostly I agree (not always, but mostly) and I think the crowd of commentators arguing about every issue as though the fate of the Western World depended upon their opinions is sometimes amusing. BUT . . .there's real news happening on the convention floor and it's not all about Clintons. Ir's not even all about Obama. There are insights on the hopes and fears of people in different parts of this country to be heard. There are issues that unite our country -- but there are also issues that have regional importance. I'd like to know what they are. There is a new class of candidates running for seats in the Senate, the House and the governors' mansion -- one of them may have that special spark that takes them into a leadership role in national affairs. I'd like to see the Democratic Party's back bench -- if for no other reason, than to be reassured that there is talent in the wings.

Commentators are great for filling in those days when there is no real news happening. But a Democratic Party Convention -- especially THIS Democratic Party convention -- IS news. Set the cameras on the floor and let them run. Anyone who's watching this -- who hasn't turned to a movie or a sports event -- is probably tuned into politics enough to figure out what's happening without being endlessly talked at.

    It's PBS for me tonight.

Convention Theater: Dems Miss Chance--TV's Fault

Is this the Democratic slogan or something? LMAO

I would just die if we actually had a Dem accept responsibility for a CHANGE

  • Posted By: klancast @ 08/27/2008 10:51:17 AM

I agree!!! If I see Keith and Chris ask each other questions one more time I'm going to scream!! The coverage is awful. How do we stop them?

    • Posted By: notunderage @ 08/27/2008 7:40:17 PM

Turn the channel to PBS. If nobody watches them, their ratings will go down, and they will be replaced.

  • Posted By: marykn5 @ 08/27/2008 2:23:47 PM

    • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 08/27/2008 6:15:27 PM

Now a lost art? Just now? Because of the Dem convention? WOW You must be new to Newsweek then right? Not too mention the National Enquirer is the leading source for breaking news these days.

  • Posted By: spirit @ 08/27/2008 2:53:49 PM

I hope they don't just fix it for next week. They need to get in the way and talk to a bunch of Democrats instead of letting us listen to the Republicans just like they are doing now the other way around. Fox is the worst. You would swear this is their convention week and Hannity kissing up to Romney made me leave the room.

    • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 08/27/2008 6:13:39 PM

Wait till McCain chooses Romney for his VP. Make up your mind though. If he talks badly about a Dem DAMN HIM!!! If he says something good about a Democrat it's DAMN HIM!!!!!
