Nobody wants to talk about gays in Iraq, much less who is killing them.

    Comment: You have got to be nuts and why you are attempting to mislead readers makes no sense whatsoever, you blurt out false claims without even a shred of statistical support.
    Homosexuality isn't 'widespread' in Iraq, in fact, the penalty for homosexual activity in both contries is death. You are just trying to create the notion that it is somehow prevalent to justify your sappy phony article.
    Why can't American's get it through their head that we don't have the right to impose the perversity of our society on other countries? The last regime that welcomed homosexuality and sought to impose it's 'righteous' world order was Adolph Hitler and the Nazi's ... who utilized the same strong arm tactics that American Gays and lesbians use to destroy our democracy to facilitate their perverse desires.

    Comment: Phoenix77, you need more theological study. It is blasphemous to say Allah is a false god. It is the Islamic word for the same God you, or Christians and Jews, worship. Jeudism's objection to Islam is the same as to Christians: they believe both Christ and Mohammed we false prophets. But all three religions worship the Old Testament in which God is revealed along with his call to worship. We are instructed that there is only ONE God; so I find your cleaving God into 'true' and 'false' pieces to be blasphemous. But you seem to go further by dividing God into 'him" and 'her". Again you reject the Commandment of one God. And to project God as a sexual being is especially egregious.

    As to the article, I challenge anyone [Christian, Jew, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, etc] who thinks that homosexuals bring these suppressions upon themselves, to see for themselves how easily that "choice" can be changed. Let me as soon as you can go out and have a fulllfilling relationship with someone of the same sex. Then you will have demonstrated that one's sexual orientation can be a matter of choice. But being gay myself I know that you will fail. But keep trying!

    BTW, what is happening with hospitals in Iraq, cancer sufferers, lack of medications, lack of doctors and hospitals, lack of clean water and electricity, etc, etc.
    Are you waiting for Iraqi gays to tell you that they have problems with all these issues so you will answer their concerns and write?
    May be you should insist to have a 'pink TV channel' in Iraq and at least one minister for gay rights. That will help to deliver democracy in Iraq.

Examples Larry Craig, Mark Foley, Ted Haggard, Bob Allen, and Glenn Murphy, and thats just the ones we know about, how many more will come to light in the future is anybodies guess. It is obious that you did not read the article. because it is stated the their situation was better during Saddam's regim. Homosexuality is not a perversion, and homosexuals are fighting for their rights as individuals and citizens of the United States. It's the same with the gay community. Who cares? Let them live the way they want to live. They aren't bothering me or pushing me with their lifestyle and I won't push my lifestyle on them. No one is right or wrong with their sexual lifestyle. It's the way they choose to live as long as anyone involved is not forced. I'm definately never going to be gay, but I'm definately not going to persecute anyone for being gay. It's their choice, not mine.

    On this "force" subject, I think it's a double standard that it's ok to rape a gay, since you aren't the one being penetrated. If you commit the act on someone of your own gender, you are gay or bisexual as well. Plain and simple.

Please explain why the news media would report on the imaginary opresion of the Majority. Over 80% of the US population consider themselves Christians. How can the Majority of the population be opress by the Minority? Throughout the world the Major religion is Christianity. Other religions and groups like Homosexuals are persecuted by Christians. Even in the US, Muslims, Homosexuals and other religions are persecuted by Christians, yet Christians still claim to be persecuted. Why? Because other groups and religions ask for the same rights that is theirs to claim under the constitution. Because Christians want a country that is run like those like the Muslim countries. Christians want to take away the rights of other that do not follow their ways like Homosexuals. By the way the only way Hindus spread peace is by not forcing their religion on others. Hindus are not going door to door trying to convert others to their religion, they do not condem to Hell does that do not follow their religion. What is liberal media? I was under the impresion that journolist were suppost to report the events of the world. I have notice that some orginizations focus on some groups more than others. There are several magazines with focus on only Christian news and their editors are always claiming that the are fighting to have their vocies heard. Conservitives have their own priorities as well.

    These poor men/boys should be given asylum in the U.S. where they can live and not be oppressed by their government and others. We have freedom here and we are trying to bring it to Iraq as well. God Bless our troops. I don't condone homosexuality. But if we could just bring these gay men here to the U.S., their lives would not be in danger and we could show them God's love and I know they would choose the straight path.
    And only a government as whacked as Saddam Hussein's would think of a "don't ask, don't tell" policy....whoever heard of such a crazy idea. Thank god we took that dictator out !

There is not specific law as some call it agaist homosexuality, if god was so against it then why did he not put in on the ten comandments? and to bobomack How excatly do homosexuals glamorize their experience? by being beaten to death? by being constatly harrased? by having people like you condem them? these would be more reasons for them not to choose to be gay. and How do homosexuals weaken the infustracture of a country?

      Comment: There are very clear verses in the Qur'an about condoming the act of homosexuality. You are right the people of Sodom and Gamora were also unjust to travelers. God condems and destroys people for their actions, not their feelings, there is no excuse for disobiedence and we are in control of are ourselves and capable of controling our evil natures. Who knows why it is not mentioned in the ten commandments, but neither is child molestation, would that give the child molester the choice to commit great evil. What about the the person who wants to steal but doesn't, or kill but doesn't, or the person who wants to commit acts of homosexuality but doesn't, these people are truly free because they do not become slaves of their desires but control them, and regulate them and live in harmony with the commands of Allah. If you want the verses in the Qur'an against homosexuality, if you like, they are undeniable and clear. As for the bible you are right you run across unclear verse about this subject. Only God, Jehova, Jesus or Allah can pass judgement on humans. If God or Allah as you wish to call him, is the final judge than you are overstepping on his authority. Only God should decide who live and who dies and for what, that is why it is on the ten comandments, because only God should have the power over life and death. Disobedience is not an excuse for murder, only God will can decide wether to punish homosexuals or not. God created the entire univers and created in it, therefore he created homosexuals. If God did not want homosexuals on earth than there would be none. Science has proven that humans are not always in control of their actions or natures. As for child molestation not being in the ten comandments, girls and women are nothing more than property in the Bible and the Qur'an, they can be sold and discarded like property. Which why it is sickening that so many people follow such books, that degrade the ones that give you life. I would much rather be a slave to desire than a slave to an ancient book, full of hatred and contempt for human life. I do fear the actions of the ancients that are being repeated, such as killing in the name of your God or another God. And the killing of people who differ in their thinking. And killing a woman for speak without the consent of her husband, that is for more frieghtning, because instead of moving forward you and people like you are going backwards, only to please someone that may or may not exist. I do not require the verses, I am sure they exits and are undeniable to you. I have long since grown to know that I do not know the mind of God, if he exist, but I do know that if he exist that my respect for his or hers creations should suffies not to be condemed to eternal torment. Whether you agree or disagree with someone elses life should not give you authority to end it no matter what any book says. You and all like you the think that the killing of people who are not like you will have to answer to your God. And maybe homosexuals will ask God for mercy on your behave, something you would never do.

I am prolife in the sense that humans have a right to their lives, I am also prochoice in that humans should be able to choose how to live their lives. No one has the right to harm another person because of their religious believes. You claim that you are not prodeath, yet you continue to call for the murder of innocent people, becuase you do not like them. You are right women are not killed for speaking without the permision of their husbands, they are severly beaten, and if they die, the men are not punished. Muslims also killed women who are raped because they are no longer virgins and they disgrace their family. The only thing I am a victim of is knowledge of the repugnant attitude towards women in Muslim countries. You insist on hiding behind a book that has many scientific inacuracies. Biologist have observed homosexual behaviour in many spicies of animals, so can people continue to say it is unnatural. Because a book that claims that the Earth is fixed? The Earth revolves around the Sun, planets move, stars move, homosexual behaviour is part of the natural world. These are scientif facts. The only proof that you have that homosexuality is wrong is in a book written by an illiterate man (Mohammad, may he suffer for all eternity)? I require no guidence from that which does not exist. Or perhap I am being guide by him. I do not attempt to know the mind of a being that created the univers. I am guided by logic, reason and compasion for humankind. Humans are a primative species that has not yet found their way out of the darkness of religion. No one shuold accept wars, violence or killings of innocents. I have seen humans make leaps forward and backward, you are one that chooses to return to the old ways of killing unjustly. Just because humans have always started wars does not mean they should not stive for peace. Maybe one day humans will understand that they are nothing more than an insignificant speck in the vast univers, maybe then they will respect each other and their planet.

Every single story in your precious Qur'an can be found in the Jewish Torah and in the Christian Old Testament, which predate the Qur'an, so a logical person can deduce that Mohammad stole all of the ideas from these texts, and not from Allah. So to be clear the Torah was written around 2500 years ago, it was later incorporated into the Bible and called the Old Testament between 2000 and 1800 years ago, and the Qur'an was edited by and illiterate man around 1400 years ago. They all share some of the same teachings and the same story about Lot and Sodom and Gomorrah. This is why the current and past conflicts between Jewish, Muslims and Christians are stupid. Religion is meant to offer comfort and guidance to the masses, it should never be used to dictate the lives of others, and it should not be used as the basis for a government. Currently religion is rather useless and detrimental to the advancement of humankind. Not all human concepts are flawed, it is religious concepts that are flawed and science proves many long held beliefs wrong. Only the ignorant such as yourself continue to rely solely on one book written by an illiterate man that stole from others. Mohammad was a false prophet and all that follow will be very disappointed when they spent eternity in the pits of hell. Your curses mean nothing since Allah is a false God and Mohammed is a false prophet, and I am also protected by the true God and Goddess of light and love.

            And I am well aware of the horrific treatment of women in Muslim countries. In the situation you mention, the woman would not be shun. She would be killed, if not be her husband then by her father or brothers or even her own sons. They also kill women who are not virgins on their wedding night and the husband, may even sue the woman's family for reparation. They also kill women that are victims of rape because they are not virgins, and because they shame the family because they are not virgins anymore.

The reason why the rate of HIV was low in Iraq was because of the actions taken by the medical comunity under the direction of Saddam. They were sent to a segreated medical facility and treated. They have fewer highways, less industry, usually more condensed housing, and the list goes on. It can change in the way that China is changing. If you think we are bad, China has little environmental controls. Much like the USA in the ealy 20th century and the industrial revolution. So sell your home or get a smaller apartment that used no resources in its construction. Sell your car and ride a bike. Don't you dare fly. You bike from New York to LA if you want to go somewhere. Open your eyes. Petroleum and carbon footprints are all all around you regardless of when it was made. It starts with you. And what's this got to do with gays and Iraq?

If we supply guns to destabilize governments and raise rebel armies, we should stop that. I don't think a lot of that goes on. Resources are offered on the open market for trade, that's why there are exchanges. The US tried to help some countries in Africa to stabilize their governments with disastrous results. You can't have much progress when a new government comes to power every other month. Stealing of resources would involve the US forcibly taking natural resources from them. Of course everyone knows that Africa is a source for gems, and those are "stolen" by deBeers, a European company. But one of its countries is the only source of the material for a tantalum electronic component that makes your Ipod possible. My point is, African countries need their own houses in order before they can begin to prosper.
