    That was almost lyrical sounding, John9870. No more beautifully have I seen words of hatred and prejudice written. However, your linking of homosexuality with things like child molestation , beastiality and alchoholism is and afront to me and should be condemned by anyone who calls themselves a human being. Come out from behind your words and declare that you are a bigot. I am gay. i am or never have been involved in child molestation or beastiality. I WAS created this way..it is NOT A CHOICE. However, it was your choice alone to write such disguised bigotry. I am also a recovering alchoholic. i certainly hope that doesnt mean that i am also a child molestor. Or one pursuaded into beastiality. Choose your words more wisely , sir, for as of now I consider YOU to be the lowest of humanity; a prejudicial bigot.

      I wasn't trying to compare the act of homosexuality to beastiality, molestation, etc., but trying to make the point to the individual that just because something is part of humanity for a long time doesn't make it right. Please go read my comment in that context. This was not linking it whatsoever, sorry for the misunderstanding. I have members in my family as well as friends that are gay, I don't hate gay people in the least, do I agree with the lifestyle? No. Do they agree with everything I do? No. I've read many articles & studies on both sides of the debate and have read nothing convincing, but hey, maybe I missed all the good arguments...I welcome information that proves me wrong.

      You have stated you are an atheist. I asked you previously, but you did not answer, so I will ask again.
      Is there any large, organized atheist group in the US that has done any "charitable" activity in the US or abroad. My experience with atheist is that they are very self absorbed and rarely concern themselves with the welfare of others in any organized fashion. McCain spoke on the Warren forum, which I'm sure you probably missed, that the faith based organizations did more than the governmental organizations for the Katrina victims.

          It had to do with ethics and no one had to twist either McCain's or Obama's arm to do the forum. I think a candidate's ethical principles are exceedingly important to me as a voter. Look at Bill Clinton and his lack of any moral fiber and the embarrassment he brought to the office of POTUS.

            Myself, I find it hard to believe that this country would allow a president to be brought up fopr impeachement for a sexual act in the oval office, yet a president that has held the constitution hostage has not been brought up on charges of treason.         Sorry I was busy reading and answering other posts. I will tell you and prove you wrong. I have a nephew graduated from Standford Unniversity who is also an atheist, like the large majority of the brains in this country. He spent 2 years in the peace corp in Mali digging water wells in poor villages, then he worked at a non profit organisation in Kenya for 3 years and had to leave because the situation in Narobi was deteriorating. So how can you rightous people assume that atheists do not do any thing for others????? No need to believe in fairy tales to be a good human being! Myself who has now become an atheist do help the poor as much as I can. What right do you have to assume Atheists are self absobed people when I would bet you have not met one in your life! Who wants universal health care for all??? more social programs for the poor??? Most of them are atheists or agnostics!

          30% of americans are either atheists or agnostic and for your info, their numbers are growing fast. Many if not all atheists I know are some of the kindest, most compassionate people I know. I am sure many give to good causes, but not religiou causes. Who do you religious people think you are??? You are certainely not the brightest of the brightest, this is for sure, other wise, Bush would have never ever been elected! For you info, 93% of all scientists in this country are either Atheists or Agnostics. Wonder why?? because they have brains and do not follow like sheep. I would recommend you watch the bill Maher new documentary religulous. It is coming out on Oct. 3rd.             Your"30% of Americans are either..." reminded me of a class that my daughter took this summer. This so called professor told her that 30% of the people in my city were swingers. My daughter came home and asked me about this and I about fell off my chair laughing...I have lived in my community for 13 years and have yet to meet one single swinger. I began asking my friends if they have ever been approached by a swkinger and they all said no. When I told them why I had asked they broke out laughing. I think professors make up these statistics to promote their own kinks. BTW I am college educated and some of my professors were some of the most messed up people I have ever met. What really pisses me off is I had to pay this professor several hundred dollars to cut calss time short, give the final a week early and fill my daughter with his garbage about our city. It was a required class for her degree...Interpersonal relations.

          Obviously you didn't understand my post. I did not ask for individual examples...I asked for an example of a large organization of atheists who as this large organization provide "charity" for others.
          I don't assume, I personally know several professed atheists and they are all self absorbed.
          The majority of professors, especially in the sciences, would meet the diagnostic criteria for Aspergers Autism and autistic people are unable to understand non-concrete concepts such as those use in faith and religion.

            I don't know any large group of atheists, but they are building... Many atheists care about social issues this is why we want to see the democrats take the white house back. Also, many Atheists are in the closet because of the way religious people would treat them. In europe which is a much more open society, it would never come to anyone's mind to say bad things about someone who is an atheist. atheims is very well accepted, this is why I say this country is so back ward in so many ways, because the large majority of americans are ignorant and have no common sense. The large majority of people are narrow minded. For your info, Secular countries give way more money to 3rd world counties. Google us and foreign aid. It will give you all the answers.

      I don't agree with killing homosexuals at all, that is their lifestyle decision to make. However, homosexuality is a choice, it's not been proven to be anything other than that. Just because something has been part of humanity forever doesn't justify it. War, child molestation, bestiality, alcoholism, and many other things have also been part of humanity forever.

A CBS News poll done April 13, 2006 states 82% of Americans believe in God. 9% said they belived in a " higher power" and only 8% said they were "other." A Pew Research Council report on Religion in America done in 2002 states only 1% athiest and 2% agnostic in America with 85% being Christians, Jewish, Muslim or other non-christian. These reports fly into the face of your statement that " 30% of Americans are Athiest or Agnostic" Maybe you should have done some research like you have told others to do or call your nephew at Stanford to do it for you so you won't be making FALSE representations to those in the public!( also known as untruths) And just a note, Bill Clinton was impeached not for sex but because he lied under oath aka PERjURY. The mainstay of our Judical system.     bobomack-- homosexuality is natural and exists everywhere in nature. The Bible has precious little to say about gays because they didn't understand that science of human sexuality or the nature of homosexuality. Most of what they Bibles does say is grounded in ignorant religious superstitions. Your comments prove why the Bible is an impediment to equal rights. However, some churchs, like the Metropolitan Community Church, have promoted gay equality. God bless them for it!

Permitting gays to marry one another, as well as allowing gays to flaunt their homosexuality in public weakens any countries infastructure. Gays who adopt or raise children are sending the wrong message to our young people, and our society is weakened because of it. The Bible spells it out for us, It's Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.       If I remember the usa comes in 17th position when it comes to foreign aid given to 3rd world countries. Sweeden comes first by giving far more per citizen than us citizens give. Google US and foreign aid. Great infos. It explain why there are still so many poor around the world, what countries give and what is the real reason for giving.

    This article shows a typical attitude problem of Americans. Americans think they have some sort of superior moral systems compared to the rest of the world and triy to judge other nations and cultures. This tendency is a major cause of the whole debacle in Iraq; Bush thought he could be a democracy evangelist in middle east and started the war.

    Wake Up! Other cultures have different moral systems. Some cultures may look down on Americans who kill zillons of animals unnecessarily for their fat bellies. Some cultures believe innate right and wrongs and take life not as do-whatever-you-want-until-you-throw-up kind of thing, but as a continuous self-restraint living and find happiness in it. They may view homosexuals as evil and consider it one of the things they need to overcome. Their treatment of homosexuals may be too harsh, but is infinitely more forgiving considering how Americans treat other living beings regarded as American food.

    Don't judge other cultures! That is the problem of Americans.

      The true problem with americans, they are not curious human beings, so how can they judge other cultures when all they have traveled is america, mexico and canada. Ignorance is rampant, this is why we have bush in the white house. They do not understand that there are rich cultures out there, and large majorities of people who are way more educated and intelligent than they are. They do not know that freedom is a common thing in many countries of the world, that quality of life in many countries is better than their own. Education in the usa is poor this is why we have so many religious people, they chose to follow what they are told, and do not question. What they learn as kids is all they know. Very sad indeed!

I think that takes a lot of curiosity, ingenuity and skill. Americans are some of the most traveled people in the world.

      There are Americans dying to help keep peace there (Iraq) whre the article said 400 gays have been murdered, this is the same terrorism we are fighting and your comments do nothing but spread the terror in Iran, Iraq and here in the US.
