DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION

Hillary Rex

Clinton gave the best speech she's capable of delivering. And finally, the Democrats looked like they know how to throw a party.

Comment: Palin attended Hawaii Pacific College - now known as Hawaii Pacific University - in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1982 for a semester, she majored in Business Administration, and transferred in 1983 to North Idaho College. In 1987. Palin received a Bachelor of Science degree in communications-journalism from the University of Idaho, where she also minored in political science....hmm

Comment: You think McCain's choice of Palin will focus on women's issues? Haha. that's a huge laugh.

Here is what someone wrote in comments on the Washington Post website today:

Sarah Palin is in no way, shape or form anything of the stature and experience of Hillary Clinton. Most of her supporters will gladly vote for the Obama-Biden ticket. A formidable team, with complementary skills and capabilities, who inspire courage, optimism and respect around the world.

Contrast that with a 72-year-old man whose health is not robust, coupled with a 44-year old church lady with five kids and ZERO overseas travel, no foreign policy credentials. Guess who will be calling all the shots? McCain!

We will be the laughing stock among our enemies - easy target for picking off our president and allowing a totally shallow, inexperienced church lady to become our President.

All for the sake of the Religious Right and the option to drill in Alaska. Once again, the GOP putting us in jeopardy with a misjudged choice and greed to appease the major oil companies.
    _________________

McCain-Palin will be a disaster. Nobody in their right minds will vote for an aging President coupled with a token female who's only there to allow drilling in ANWR. She won't champion equal pay for equal work, women's rights or anything remotely connected to Hillary Clinton's platform/interests.

She will be another Church Lady. Where is Dana Carvey? He did such a good job on Bush Sr.

Comment: The problem for McCain is his "Judgment", if he really had superior military insight, he would have never agreed to go to Iraq until Afghanistan was "mission accomplished". If mccain would have wanted to defeat Al Qaeda in Afghanistan, where they make base and train, if he would have wanted to actually bring BIN LADEN to justice, if MCCAIN has TRUE judgment, he would have stood on the floor of the Senate and said "WRONG WAR WRONG TIME!" We would have "WON" in Afghanistan, instead of "cutting" our ability to supply more troops and "running" to Iraq, for a "WAR FOR OIL" and for the bush ego.

If McCain had done that, there would not have been a "SURGE" required, AT ALL. thousands of Iraqis and hundreds od Americans would have been saved...but NOPE! McCain and BUSH wanted to go to a country that NEVER ATTACKED THE US, and star another war, and now MCCAIN AND BUSH want to go "bomb Iran, bomb bomb Iran". before Afghanistan or Iraq are clear...and you call that a "military mentality", you call that "Judgment"?

Comment: Dems choose Obama in thunderous acclamation
Yahoo News by David Espo, AP Special Correspondent Wed Aug 27, 7:18 PM ET

Clinton's call for Obama to be approved by acclamation ??? midway through the traditional roll call of the states ??? was the culmination of a painstaking agreement worked out between the two camps to present a unified front.

    My commentary:

So, democrats, in order to portray a false unification, schemed to allow politics to trump the democratic process.

And they are insulted when people don???t refer to them as the democrat(ic) party!

Yes, the truth is offensive to the democrat party!

How are you today? I will miss Obama's speech tonight as I am flying out of town for a family event. But I have DVR so if they do not re-air it I can watch it when I return Tuesday. Hillary's speech was good, but I really liked Bill's speech better, he is still one of the best speakers out there.

We need a democrat to get this Country back to some intergrity.

Comment: I am asking this again...Where did the person who wrote this article get his definitions?
    http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/catharsis
1: purgation (which is defined as the act of purging)
2 a: purification or purgation of the emotions (as pity and fear) primarily through art b: a purification or purgation that brings about spiritual renewal or release from tension3: elimination of a complex by bringing it to consciousness and affording it expression

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catharsis
Catharsis is a Greek word meaning "purification" or "cleansing" derived from the ancient Greek infinitive transliterated as kathairein "to purify, purge," and adjective katharos "pure or clean". While I am not one to defend Hillary, I am wondering where you got your definition.

Comment: Hillary Rex is the right title.
She is royal, she has a natural aura of authority - from her personality, experience and competence.

This is the closest we get to an American Royal family.
Best wished and blessings to the Clintons.
    And; well done.

Comment: This just confirms my image of Hillary Clinton, and what this woman is about - she is a great person, a great leader, and with a deep love for her party and the American people. I don´t think you could have anyone act more gracious.
I wish her the best, today and in the future.
I´m still wounded by the fact that I think we missed our best candidate - may I turn as gracious as Hillary Clinton is.
And I hope this for once and for all, can stop all the hateful projections and attacks towards her - and that the "Obama side" can show this kind of gracious behavior as well. Please know, that as much as this might be a victory for black people - who see it that way, know that we; women - also have the same feelings about our gender, and our story through the times. When we would be put to jail for wanting to vote, and men said a woman could never to the job of a man.
We would be equally joyful and celebrating if "our girl" won, on our behalf - as blacks are now. And maybe you would be just as much hurting - and people letting that out in different ways, that some woman are now.

We are pretty much the same.
So.....have compassion for "the other side", instead of judging.

I have heard several theories including that it is the result of a virus developed by the CIA. However, this is not likely for reasons I'd rather not go into. The fact is that as we look for answers, we have to try to prevent its further spread. I have asked some of my closest supporters to remove Gideon Bibles from their hotel chains and replace them with copies of Of Mice and Men. I hope that this will at least slow down the spread of CGBS."

Obama scams Clinton out of the nomination (not vetted until after the first 9 primaries), dumps her as VP, and then turns the responsibility of uniting the party over to her at Denver. I'd say he's a shallow prick.

    • Posted By: AskPlus @ 08/27/2008 6:14:52 PM

Comment: Mr. Obama won the nomination with a comeback from over 40% down, Ms. Clinton opened her mouth and lied about a number of verifiable incidences, Mr. Clinton completely lost his mind in disdain and anger. Obama could not, in any context have Ms. Clinton as a running mate, no more than she could have had him as hers. Unity is by choice. If you choose to be the last word you used. So be it. But don't try the 1) victim extortion, 2) love me or I won't vote Dem, 3) you had better respect me and validate my pain, 4) I'm going to wait until 2012 and not vote for him - just in case I'm wrong and he is a good president - BS. Again. Unity is a choice. If you don't want to, don't talk about how we are not united.

Comment: Guess what people, Sen Obama does not need to be endorsed by the Clintons in order to lead the party and become the next president of the U.S. Part one has ALREADY happened and part two is showing in November despite what you, Rush, Ann, and Sean think and say. He will do it as he always has, by working hard, bringing hope to the people of this country, and remembering that he works for all of us, not just the wealthy and connected. But you keep hope alive and continue to rant and rave about false messiahs. Let us restore this nation to it's position as the leader and example for the rest of the world. Hell, we'll even let you share in the bounty of an Obama administration.

I notice that you're still having problems with your spelling and your futile attempts to approach rational thought.

A month ago, Obama stated that Americans travelling abroad should learn to speak other languages,
I credit him with being politically astute enough to realize that he should avoid stating that obamabots like you should learn to speak and write the English language.

Comment: Obama is the epitome of politician...he tells us exactly what he thinks we want to hear and not what he actually believes. He has his own agenda.
When in IN he told us we were bitter and cling to our guns and religion. Then he goes on the Warren forum and tells us what a good Christian he is. He actually had the AUDACITY to quote scripture about "wahtever you do for the least" while he votes to allow infants to die and allows his brother to live in abject poverty. His Chritianity only applies to those who can VOTE for him.

Comment: Obama is a pay to play Chicago politician who expects votes to be delivered instead of trying to earn them for himself. Here's an Obama Tale for you about how politicians in Chicago deliver votes for their overlords. In a campaign influenced by Walmart, instead of backing the pro-labor candidate, Obama backed a "Walmart tool."

There was little surprising about Obama's endorsement given his self-interested allegiances to the politically powerful City Hall regime of Chicago's Mayor Daley, with whom Obama shares the same big money campaign super-consultant (David Axlerod) and numerous big money sponsors.

For the first time Mayor Daley had vetoed an ordinance by his normally obedient City Council, and he did not want the council to bring the measure up again. It was originally passed by the council under pressure from a remarkable grassroots campaign, and would have required giant retail corporations like Wal-Mart, Target, Lowes, and Home Depot to pay workers a modest minimum wage of ten dollars an hour by 2010.

Wal-Mart and Target announced that they were putting a number of "big box" retail developments on hold in Chicago, and launched a preemptive public relations strike, threatening to disinvest in the city unless a "favorable business climate" was restored. Daley made a special point of wrapping his veto in the flag of racial justice, claiming it was required to permit the flowering of economic development in the city's abandoned ghetto neighborhoods.

Pat Dowell, the recipient of significant support from the Service Employees' International Union (SEIU), was running against Tillman, and Dowell had strongly criticized Tillman for siding with Daley and Wal-Mart.

Obama needed the support of the powerful campaign finance magnet Daley, and endorsed Tillman, over labor-backed Dowell.

Obama's wife Michelle then received $51,200 in 2006 for attending a few board meetings of TreeHouse Foods, a giant firm that relied heavily on its close business relationship with Wal-Mart. The granting of high-pay/do-little board posts to the spouses of politicians is a longstanding tool of the "old," corporate-dominated politics that Senator Obama claims to reject.

Mrs. Obama resigned from her position with TreeHouse in the summer of 2007, citing "increased demands on her time" in connection with her husband's presidential campaign.

Comment: After reading so many of these comments, it is obvious that the democratic party is doing McCain's work for him. McCain won't have to run on the issues, he won't have to prove he is mentally capable, he won't have to do a thing except sit back and watch the democrats rip themselves apart.

To Obama's supporters - it is not Hilary's job to make the party endorse Barack, it is Barack's job to win the party over with his invitation. She did exactly what she was supposed to do - endorse him for president and pledge her support. Bashing Hilary does not diminsh Hilary, it diminishes Barack.

To Clinton's supporters - She lost. If you want her issues to have a voice you will need to vote for Obama, it is that simple. McCain WILL NOT champion Hilary's causes. Bashing Barack does not diminshe Barack, it diminshes Hilary.

Do we wish Hilary had less baggage? Yes.
Do we wish Barack had more experience? Yes.

Do they both represent the ideals of the Democratic Party? Yes, yes and yes.

They aren't ideal candidates, either of them. Admit it, swallow it, and move forward.

To all democrats - if you don't endorse the DEMOCRATIC PARTY, the republicans will win in November.

      Your choice.

Comment: Don't forget. You will also prove Hilary right. That Obama is not electable and teach the DNC a lesson for shyting all over her. If they actually cared about winning the election they wouldn't have screwed over the sure shot candidate anyway. The Dems do not want the responsibility of accountability. Do them a favor, vote McCain into office so it will be easier to blame everyone else for their 9% approval rating and failures.

Thanks to the success of Harriet Tubman and other amazing suffragettes, women now have voices and choices!

We can elect a great candidate like Obama.
But most people are totally in the dark about HOW the suffragettes won, and what life was REALLY like for women before they did.

"The Privilege of Voting" is a new free e-mail series that follows eight great women from 1912 - 1920 to reveal ALL that happened to set the stage for women to win the vote.

This is no boring history report. It's a real-life soap opera!

Two beautiful and extremely powerful suffragettes -- Alice Paul and Emmeline Pankhurst are featured, along with Edith Wharton, Isadora Duncan, Alice Roosevelt and two gorgeous presidential mistresses.

There are tons of heartache for these heroines on the rocky road to the ballot box, but in the end, they WIN!

Exciting, sequential 10-minute e-mail episodes are perfect for coffeebreaks, or anytime.

Senator Clinton is not mathematically or in any way eliminated from the race not until that roll call is made. If she were, Obama would have been the nominee and not the presumptive nominee.

And do you know Senator Clinton personally? Are you a senator? Are you a journalist of any sort? If so, you would know that it is improper and unprofessional for you to refer to her only by "Hillary" or even as Mrs Clinton. By referring to Senator Clinton as such it reveals a great deal about your unspoken words.
