Is America the only country left in the world that still look at Russia as the aggressor in the Georgian war?

MCCAIN AND PAILIN ARE HOT HEADS , WE WOULD BE IN A TOTALLY DESTRUCTIVE WAR IN A VERY SHORT TIME , THEY WOULD FINISH US OFF . WE NEED TO GET STRONG IN MANY WAYS AND TALK , THINGS OVER BE DIPLOMATIC. SOMETHING GW FORGOT TO DO , WE SHOULD HAVE WENT FULL STEAM INTO AFGANISTAN , NOT IRAQ WE HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF A LOT TO GET THIS COUNTRY GOING AGAIN. THIS IS A HARD TASK , WHO WOULD WANT THIS JOB ANYWAY?

It isn't surprising to see a member of the CFR lying about something. Here are a few facts: South Ossetia is not Georgia's, Georgia attacked South Ossetia, Russia did not. Georgia started the conflict by attacking civilians and Russian peacekeeping troops in the region. NATO and Georgia had peacekeeping troops in S. Ossetia, but they left days before the attack (I wonder why?).

Also, about Obama and NAFTA. His campaign told Canadian politicians and businessmen that he wouldn't actually change NAFTA and that it was just campaign rhetoric. This fact is easily searchable on google. Please don't trust anything coming from the CFR, ever.

Obama missed excellent opportunity to criticize Bush, probably due to his over politicized approach. Bush's administration f...up big time - they armed a mad man (Sakashvili), lost control of the mad man, he provoked (or overreacted to provocation - depends on the source) Russia at the time when relations with Russia were fragile for other reasons. USSR lost cold war in the 80s because they stretched economy by committing to unjust war in Afghanistan. Situation is reversed now - Russia is filthy reach on oil and USA is stretched because of Iraq. Can US afford to start new cold war, especially for somebody like Sakashvily? Obama did not have balls to say any of it out loud - it makes me wonder if he is ready for the job. McCain will welcome opportunity since he craves conflict any conflict so he can be ???Commander-in-chief??? ??? that makes me scared.

McCain declares: "We are all Georgians." So McCain must not be a candidate because Georgians have a president already. His name is Saakashvili:

This type of article is what I have come to expect from republican operatives. Long on bearing false witness and the effort to cast aspersions on anyone and everyone other than themselves for the consequences of their own actions. Not only does it reflect a woefully inadequate and one-sided view of history and American political discourse, it seeks to rewrite history and fact for Machiavellian purposes.

mccain made himself look like a real ass with that "we're all georgians statement" just more proof that he is a hothead and has no tact when it comes to international affairs. the world doesn't need another cowboy running our country

YOU freaking liberal media people, you don't care if Christians get killed. You will jump up and down for Muslims or Hindus. LOOK what is happening in Indian state of Orissa. "Targeted by angry mob, police watching, Christians flee after their houses burnt

    Phulbani (Orissa), August 27
For 21-year-old Pushpalata Digal, a first-year Sociology Master???s student at Phulbani Government College, for her sisters, for her brother and her father John Nayek, a retired Orissa police havildar, life since Monday has been a trauma. Their wait today is for a relief camp.
For, they have visited home after home in their neighbourhood asking for shelter only to be refused because they are Christians.
Their house in the Amlapada area, right next to the District Collectorate, was ransacked and its belongings torched on the morning of August 25 by a procession mourning the death of Swami Lakshamananda Saraswati. The procession was escorted by police who, eyewitnesses said, looked the other way.
Several houses belonging to Christians were ransacked all along the procession route. The victims range from retired police officers to a retired Additional District Magistrate.
A number of orphanages in the town faced a similar fate. In more remote villages, the situation is worse ??? Christian families, including women and children, are leaving their villages and fleeing to adjacent hills and forests.

China first foreign visit for Medvedev

Russia's president-elect Dmitry Medvedev said he would travel to China as part of his first foreign visit following his inauguration next month.

"As I promised...I will first go to Kazakhstan, a country that is close to us, and from Kazakhstan I will go to China. That will be my first international trip," Medvedev said in a question-and-answer session at a Russian newspaper.

Medvedev takes over from Vladimir Putin as Russia's president on May 7.

Putin, who has been president for eight years, says Russia's ties with China have never been better.

We currently are involved in Iraq and Afghanistan. Both have Russia standing aside. We have little capability of putting any significant military force on the ground in that area, especially by sea. Russia is far more familiar with the internal political situation than we are. Sending a guided missile cruiser with strictly humanitarian aid is OK with me. The cruiser is heavliy defended by itself, and has no boots-on-ground offensive capability. Its only offensive capability is in standoff support roles, missiles and guns. There is nothing we have to support with those weapons, so it is no real threat to Russia. We should be keeping up non-military help and otherwise sitting this one out. This one has the internal politics of a soap opera. Let Russia play international policeman this time. Europe can exert economic pressure. Someone else can have the headaches for a change.

Bill Clinton: "They said I was Too Young & In-Experienced"

    Source: www.thehuffingtonpost.com

They also said this about 43 Yr. Old John F.Kennedy & Jimmy Carter...Barack is age (47)

They said Ronald Wilson Reagan, was Too Old and Too In-Experienced and that Running a State is not the same as aRunning 50 States.

My fellow Democrats, sixteen years ago, you gave me the profound honor to lead our party to victory and to lead our nation to a new era of peace and broadly shared prosperity.

Note: Together, we prevailed in a campaign in which the Republicans said "I was Too Young and Too Inexperienced to be Commander-in-Chief"...

Sound Familiar ? "It didn't work in 1992, because we were on the right side of history. And it won't work in 2008, because Barack Obama is on the right side of history"

His life is a 21st Century incarnation of the American Dream.

His achievements are proof of our continuing progress toward the "more perfect union" of our founders' dreams. The values of freedom and equal opportunity which have given him his historic chance will drive him as president to give all Americans, regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability, their chance to build a decent life, and to show our humanity, as well as our strength, to the world.

We see that humanity, that strength, and our future in Barack and Michelle Obama and their beautiful children. We see them reinforced by the partnership with Joe Biden, his wife Jill, a dedicated teacher, and their family.

Barack Obama will lead us away from division and fear of the last eight years back to unity and hope. If, like me, you still believe America must always be a place called Hope, then join Hillary, Chelsea and me in making Senator Barack Obama the next President of the United States

Wonder when the kind, sensitive leadership in Russia are going to declare independence for the North Ossetians?

    • Posted By: St. Petersburger @ 08/28/2008 4:41:38 AM

You must not have been following years of news coverage on South Ossetia. North Ossetia has no desire to seccede from Russia. South Ossetia wants to join North Ossetia as part of the Russian Federation. Is that clear enough?

  • Posted By: Questions2 @ 08/27/2008 8:22:27 PM

In the international media the background to the Russian-Georgian war is given starting from August 7 and the bombing of Tshinvali. The military conflict has actually been going on for some years with Russian military planes flying over Georgia and ???unidentified??? bombs and rockets falling into Georgia.

  • Posted By: Geoff008 @ 08/27/2008 4:35:41 PM

I would be upset with McCain, but Obama isn't bringing to light the fact that Georgia started the whole thing either. Both of them are talking to the American public like we're idiots. If there was a way for both of them to lose, I'd be all for it.
In the meantime, anyone hear about this? http://www.lewrockwell.com/north/north648.html

Yes, I've heard about it and also that Russians seized top secret american military GPS devices from Georgian army (which can be used to target bombers/missles ... to Iran for example) and Rice called with demand to return American electronics just a few hrs after it was taken by Russians...hmmm..how she would find out about it so quick..
