I have to say, my household income is quite a bit less than $250k, and I live in Chicagoland which has a relatively high cost of living, and I would consider my family to be very upper-middle class. If we made much more we would be lower-upper class. If you make $250k annually - you are wealthy. That's not saying that you have an intrinsic responsibility to pay more for social programs that do not benefit you or your peers - that is just saying that, c'mon man, you really cannot say that you aren't rich.

In my opinion, if you are have $250k AFTER taxes, you are rich. If you make $250K before taxes, and both husband and wife work other factors have to be included, like expenses, mortgage, car payments and credit card debt. This article doesn't seem to address this. Just so that you know, I am not in the category of $250K, not even close!

I will explain it for you dumbocrates out there. Only the top 50% of americans actually pay income tax. Of those people who make $250,000 and more pay 20% of all income taxes paid. How is this fair.....oh, hey the american dream work hard and get punished. You work for the people who want to sit around doing nothing and collect a check. I am not responsible for you...you are responsible for yourself. This is not a socialist country, if you are too stupid and lazy to take care of yourself, please do the rest of us a favor and leave. You are perverting this country and what it stands for. Democrats= government please take my money and take care of me, or better yet take other peoples that work and take care of me.

Let's not forget that people who make $250k+ can afford to hire educated tax accountants to find ways to shrink their tax burden well below that average tax payer. People making less than $100k simply don't have the resources to do so.

That being said, we should move to a flat tax. No loopholes. Everybody is treated equally. Simple. We need to get it done.

    cjsteve....
I make in the $50,000 range and I pay roughly 25% of it in taxes and I live in Los Angeles......
With the numbers you put in it seems to be about 28%...... not much difference.

$250,000 is among the upper class. Anyone that says it isn't is delusional.

You do not need to send your child to the best school, or even a "good" school. You need to teach your child to make the best of the school they have, public or private, so they are prepared for college. Sure, that makes it harder for the parents, but the parents and child come out stronger for the effort.
