    A QUESTION FOR ALL DEMOCRATS......

I see the post about McCains pick being a bad one. I would like to see if it is just the biasedness bleeding into your post or are you just pouncing as usual.

My question is.......... WHO COULD HAVE MCCAIN SELECTED THAT WOULD HAVE MADE YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND ABOUT SUPPORTING THE OBAMA TICKET?

  • Posted By: nancyok @ 08/29/2008 12:25:04 PM

If Hillary's supporters were angry at the thought of Hillary splintering the glass ceiling, only to have Kathleen Sebelius break it, surely this must be even more offensive. At least Kathleen shares Hillary's values. This is supremely offensive to women and shows that McCain truly doesn't GET IT. It's insulting to me as a woman that he thinks putting an extremely unqualified woman a heartbeat away from the presidency is going to sway me.

    • Posted By: Debunked! @ 08/29/2008 12:32:47 PM

I don't care about McCain picking a women but he should have picked a woman with a MUCH stronger resume!

He just lost the legitimacy of his experienced and "not been around long enough" argument.

I agree, McCain's selection is an insult but it is no more than an insult that Obama's candidacy!

      • Posted By: notroubleatall1963 @ 08/29/2008 12:59:53 PM

Oh dear, Obama's candidacy is hardly an insult - he was begged to run for president by many supporters and he has an excellent resume. He also has much better judgment than old-fart McCain.

I see the future of the USA in the eyes of the Obama supporters - they're intelligent, intellectual, innovative and impressive.

Hands down the Democratic ticket is a much better choice for the majority of Americans.

Palin is just for the drilling rights in Alaska. Pure and simple. It's about pandereing to Big Oil.

        • Posted By: Debunked! @ 08/29/2008 2:04:43 PM

I beg to differ! The Democratic ticket is horrible. I can't yet judge McCain's ticket because I've never heard of this lady. It just would have been better if he chose someone with a lengthy resume particularly in having success with the economy!

I will say this, this lady moved up the latter fast so potential is definitely there.

No Obama is guaranteed to be the worst President since Clinton. His $280 billion tax increases, $1 trillion social security tax increases over 10 years will cripple business and the economy.

You may not like Mc Cain's pick but she's more qualified than Obama and is fiscally conservative. White soccer moms around the country will like her and sorry Democrats but the intelligent white voters hate Obama and Biden is not a CHANGE candidate. I am going to laugh real hard when Mc Cain wins and Liberals scratch their heads wondering HOW it happened! Mc Cain just made my year! Beating you guys with Romney would be great, but with a no name person who has little more experience than your Obama is a SLAP IN YOUR LIBERAL faces. He's sticking his middle finger up at you idiots and I LOVE IT!

What a jerk! John McCain may think that one woman's the same as another -- but I don't know many women who would agree with him. Women stood with Hillary Clinton, not just because she was a woman, but because she stood for issues (ie, choice) that resonated with women. They stood with her because they thought she would be a forceful and effective advocate for the issues that mattered to women Sarah Palin is an extremist who would foist her religious convictions on the rest of the country. I did the happy dance when McCain made this announcement. It's weak and it won't work -- and that's great!

    ....

So now experience isn't a big deal?

The repub ticket would give way way to much power to big oil! McCain bought for 1.3Mil and now the V.P.'s husband works as an oil production operator on Alaska's North Slope!

Thats a LOT of Oil in the White House.

    • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 08/29/2008 1:51:56 PM

The question I would like to know from the Dems is. Does experience now matter?

Obama & Biden is Laughing Out .....LOUD !!!

You've heard from Mccain and his Cronies from Day One, that (47 Yr Old) Barack Obama is...

"Too Young and Too In-Experienced to be President"

This Woman is (42 Yrs Old) has Served as the State of Alaska for ONLY (2Years) and been a Mayor in Juneau a population of 10,000 People ?

National Experience: Yet Obama is a Jr. Senator and Joe biden is a 36 year Senator with Great International Credentials.

This is a Desperate, Dire and Tasteless Attempt to Garner Womens Votes.

    It will NOT WORK !!!

Can you Imagine the Looks & Thoughts of Mitt Romney, Pawlenty and Joe Lie-Berman when trying to Reason why McCain OverStepped them, for a 42 yr old Rookie Governor ?

How is John McCain going to Reconcile his "Obama is Too young, Too In-Experienced to be Commander & Chief" statements..

Furthermore, All You Mccain Low Lifes Chanting and harping, the Same... EXACT THING !!!!

    Boy is John McCain .....SENILE

YOU GUYS CAN LOOK THE OTHER WAY ON THE HILLARY CLINTON NOT ON THE OBAMA TICKET,HILLARY & BILL WILL BE ON THE STUMP WITH BARACK AND JOE BIDEN THIS FALL....

AND THE MCCAIN CLIQUE WILL BE VERY, VERY LUCKY TO GARNER 13-18% OF THE HILLARY CLINTON GROUP, IF THAT....SORRY

PUMA: 1.) WE WILL, NOT VOTE AT ALL, 2.) VOTE FOR AN INDEPENDENT OR 3.) VOTE FOR MCCAIN.

JOHN MCCAIN, YOU ARE REALLY STRETCHING FOR A BIG LIFE LINE.

  • Posted By: cferns1530 @ 08/29/2008 1:16:36 PM

Palin's message was all directed towards the Hillary camp. It's clear and John McCain has just used her knowing Hillary was'nt selected. McCain has done what he's done in the past...shifted again to suit the last moment.

    • Posted By: jpindenver @ 08/29/2008 1:45:14 PM

You believe that largely Liberal / Moderate, 55+, pro-choice and pro-health care women are going to cross the aisle to vote in a young, anti-choice, pro-gun, pro-oil VP candidate because she's a woman? You're very, very mistaken. Meg Whitman would have been a cagey and 'maverick' choice, and could have brought over a lot of those older female moderate voters. Palin is not what they were looking for. But, let's see the polls of Hillary supporter to see how many will fall for the "Spite" vote....

The point is that the Theme of the McCain campaign is "Not ready to Lead" (addressing Obama - very telling that McCain's slogan is describing his opponent rather than his own positive attributes).

So- "Not ready to Lead"...we've been hearing that for a month or two. And who does McCain put in the "heartbeat" slot? Someone who has no more experience than Obama. For all intents and purposes and compared to McCain and Biden, Obama and Palin's executive experience is about the same. So the perspective of the Democrat isn't that she doesn't have the leadership credentials because WE say so...it's that she doesn't have the credentials because YOU (the GOP) say so. You've been saying that for the last 2 months. That's why it's Comedy to us.

Bill Clinton did a Great Thing, by saying what his Republican Opposition thought of him and tried to Emphasize about him, regarding him "Being Too Young & Inexperienced" and Bill One Upped their Asses !!!

He should've gone on Further and said...

Then 43 Yr Old John F. Kennedy was also Mocked by the Republicans and his own Democratic Opposition Lyndon B. Johnson as being "Too Young & Too InExperienced" as well.

Mr.666 Himself, Ron-ald Wil-son Rea-gan was Scorned Early on by the Press and his Republican opposition as "Being Too Old & InExperienced and just a B-Actor vying for the White House" and also it was said, "That Running a Single State is not like Running 50 states" but later on one of the Most Beloved Presidents.

Jimmy Carter was called "Too Southern, Too Out of Touch and He has No National Or International Experience", yet Carter did 2 Great Things in his 1 term as President..

    1. Carter Brokered: The "Middle East Peace Agreement" an Agreement that has lasted to this day, Between Both Israel & Eygpt.

    2. Carter Brokered: The Strategic Nuclear Amed Missiles Agreement between Both The USA & Russia. These 2 Agreements thus far.....

    HAVE NEVER BEEN BROKEN !!!

Jimmy Carter did it without BloodShed and Mass Murder or Mass Destruction.

NOW THINK ABOUT THAT, WHEN YOU CRITICIZE JIMMY CARTER.

Jon F. Jennedy: was (43 Yaars Old)

Russia's New President: D'mitri Medvedev is (42 Yrs Old)

Former USA President: Bill Clinton was (45 Yrs Old) and had Only State Regioanl Experience

Barack ObamaI is (47 Yrs Old) 2 Years Older than Bill Clinton

    -------------------------------------------
Bill Clinton: My fellow Democrats, sixteen years ago, you gave me the profound honor to lead our party to victory and to lead our nation to a new era of peace and broadly shared prosperity.

Bill Clinton: Together, we prevailed in a campaign in which the Republicans said "I was Too Young and Too In-Experienced to be Commander-in-Chief".

    Sound familiar ?

It didn't work in 1992, because we were on the right side of history. And it won't work in 2008, because Barack Obama is on the right side of history.

His life is a 21st Century incarnation of the American Dream. His achievements are proof of our continuing progress toward the "more perfect union" of our founders' dreams. The values of freedom and equal opportunity which have given him his historic chance will drive him as president to give all Americans, regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability, their chance to build a decent life, and to show our humanity, as well as our strength, to the world.

Ms. Clinton has got to be fuming. But her supporters have got to be even more angry.

  • Posted By: marksgershenson @ 08/29/2008 12:51:27 PM

This was definitely a foolish move by the Republicans. I think if anything, it has opened up a vast amount of holes that the Democrats are going to start bringing to the forefront. The criticism that Obama is not ready is now ridiculous based on McCain's vp choice. It will be interesting to see if there is a trend for the Democrates to open a bigger lead after McCains selection. The hypocrisy of all of this is laughable.

    • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 08/29/2008 1:01:01 PM

      Hypocrisy on all sides.

McCain lashes out on Obama's experience.
Democrats defend Obama for his lack of experience.

McCain selects a VP with little experience.
Democrats lash out about Palins lack of experience.

I failing to see how any one parties Hypocrisy is any better or any worse then the others.

      • Posted By: marksgershenson @ 08/29/2008 1:05:14 PM

I don't either, and that was the point I was trying to bring up with my commentary too. Everyone is confused by McCain's pick.

        • Posted By: careerdaytrader @ 08/29/2008 1:16:47 PM

It's Mc Cain's GREAT sense of humor. He picked a person with little experience but who has MORE experience than Obama. That is what is so DAMN FUNNY!!!! Great job Mc Cain, some of us are intelligent enough to GET IT!

  • Posted By: griffin1 @ 08/29/2008 12:57:53 PM

McCain has just lost a ton of support from Women, watch the blogs they feel this was a bad move. I didn't care who he picked he is more of the same as Bush that was enough for me alone.

I apologize but you did just admit regardless of McCains pick you were already in the bag for Obama. So, for that reason I fail to see how he just lost a ton of support from women, if you would have never considered him in the first place. He never had your vote so he couldn't have lost your vote, make sense? As far as your opinion of him losing tons of female voters, that is nothing more then your opinion, and you're intitled to it, but is self admittedly extremely biased. Atleast you admitted before tearing into this women that regardless of his selection, you would have done the same without a single thought of doing a little research on her and her stances. You could've cared less and couldn't wait to pounce.

Well, the good news is that the Univ. of Idaho is a good school. Well, it's not Harvard, but okay. That have great undergraduate degree programs in Journalism. One could get a job in Alaska as a sports-writer. She media, so she knows how to act and find her spots.

The Chief from "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" turned McCain down, so he went with his next best option.

  • Posted By: notroubleatall1963 @ 08/29/2008 1:07:56 PM

Palin for VP is all about accessing drilling rights to Alaska for Big Oil - that's the only "change" we'll get from this ticket. hahahahaha, what a farce!

McSame picks McLame to run as his VP. Wow, now that 's a "change we cain't believe in!"

  • Posted By: notroubleatall1963 @ 08/29/2008 12:52:03 PM

It's all about drilling in Alaska. That's the only reason the GOP nominated Palin. She's a fierce advocate, along with the major oil companies. It's not a change, it's just more of the same.

You think McCain's choice of Palin will focus on women's issues? Haha. that's a huge laugh.

Here is what someone wrote in comments on the Washington Post website today:

Sarah Palin is in no way, shape or form anything of the stature and experience of Hillary Clinton. Most of her supporters will gladly vote for the Obama-Biden ticket. A formidable team, with complementary skills and capabilities, who inspire courage, optimism and respect around the world.

Contrast that with a 72-year-old man whose health is not robust, coupled with a 44-year old church lady with five kids and ZERO overseas travel, no foreign policy credentials. Guess who will be calling all the shots? McCain!

We will be the laughing stock among our enemies - easy target for picking off our president and allowing a totally shallow, inexperienced church lady to become our President.

All for the sake of the Religious Right and the option to drill in Alaska. Once again, the GOP putting us in jeopardy with a misjudged choice and greed to appease the major oil companies.
    _________________

McCain-Palin will be a disaster. Nobody in their right minds will vote for an aging President coupled with a token female who's only there to allow drilling in ANWR. She won't champion equal pay for equal work, women's rights or anything remotely connected to Hillary Clinton's platform/interests.

She will be another Church Lady. Where is Dana Carvey? He did such a good job on Bush Sr.
