She doesn't need experience on foreign policy or national issues or anything else for that matter so long as she will protect the unborn

is pro-life really all you guys care about. war doesn't even seem to phase you guys

200,000 people have died on our roads since the Iraq war began. 50 times more than in Iraq. If you want to raise a stink, why not about highway safety? Probably we could have saved more lives than have been lost in Iraq, DEFENDING OURSELVES AND KILLING TERRORISTS, with a few well thought out auto safety ideas. The number lost in Iraq is a drop in the bucket. And if you believe that abortion is murder, then Iraq REALLY becomes a drop in the bucket.

She has actually spent more time in Kuwait and Iraq than Obama.

I admire Ms. Palin's accomplishments and credentials, although I am going to vote for Obama. I have one question...doesn't Palin's son Trig Paxon van Palin need his mother? What will happen to him if Ms. Palin becomes vice president? Palin is a burst of youth compared to McCain. However, unless she is Wonder Woman, how will Palin be vice president and care for her young disabled son? I am sure that some day a woman will be vice president or even commander-in-chief, but a woman with five children is not my idea of an ideal candidate. A woman can have an amazing career and a fimly, but don't her children need her? Especially the yourngest. What about him? Not to mention her membership in the NRA...

    • Posted By: loriw. @ 08/29/2008 5:59:52 PM

See this is the beauty of the Palin family, Trig has 2 parents a mom and a dad and dad looks equally capable of caring for Trig...so , what's your point?

    • Posted By: oneamerican @ 08/29/2008 2:30:47 PM

Don't the Obama kids need there mom and dad too?

  • Posted By: Spacer @ 08/29/2008 2:18:56 PM

By the way: Obama has gotten an EIGHT point bounce from the convention. Predictably, the corporate media has maintained totally silent about it, after enthusing so many times whenever his numbers go down in the polls. The media don't want a "close" race as some people think. They want McCain to win at all costs.

    • Posted By: loriw. @ 08/29/2008 5:58:09 PM

it won't last the weekend if that long...

    • Posted By: ceanf9 @ 08/29/2008 2:45:18 PM

by corporate media i am guessing you mean fox... because nbc, cbs and cnn are all obama-bot as far as i can tell

      • Posted By: jnakhoul @ 08/29/2008 5:44:17 PM

uhhhh not quite but good try. by trying to paint their news as pro-liberal and then mocking liberal agendas they play a very subtle game, their all pro republican because quite simply their all owned by republicans. the only liberal news source is comedy central

    • Posted By: jblackwell88 @ 08/29/2008 3:03:52 PM

People say this on both sides. Oh the conspiracy. The reality is both Red and Blue answer to the same masters, who are never the subject of debate.

Put them everywhere you can and give some to your friends and family too!

"Owning a McDonalds franchise would technically give you "executive" experience. What a canard! Alaska has less than one million people"

So I guess you felt the same way about Howard Dean. Vermont has about 80,000 less people.

    Regarldess

    • Posted By: Young Hickory @ 08/29/2008 5:18:25 PM

Howard Dean was never nominated for the Democratic ticket. Democratic voters selected John Kerry, a true war hero who fought on the ground face to face with Viet Cong, not thousands of miles above dropping bombs.

      • Posted By: ltnelson @ 08/29/2008 5:56:07 PM

So Democrats won't vote for the governor of a state into national office unless the state has a certain number of citizens? What number is that so we know which people are disqualified.

      • Posted By: Skypoint @ 08/29/2008 5:51:53 PM

Aircraft do not drop bombs from "thousands of miles above".

  • Posted By: neocon @ 08/29/2008 2:07:25 PM

Wait till Obama calls Palin "sweetie", lol.

    • Posted By: loriw. @ 08/29/2008 5:53:09 PM

yeah, that'll fly like a big lead balloon!

  • Posted By: akguy @ 08/29/2008 3:28:58 PM

I think it is absoultely hilarious that people criticize Sarah Palin for not having "experience" while completely ignoring the fact that she is the only person on either ticket who has ANY executive experience at all! Every other participant in this election has merely been a legislator...not a leader. Not one.

    • Posted By: Young Hickory @ 08/29/2008 3:49:20 PM

Owning a McDonalds franchise would technically give you "executive" experience. What a canard! Alaska has less than one million people.

      • Posted By: akguy @ 08/29/2008 4:07:52 PM

Thats right. Less than a million Alaskans every last one a pragmatic can-do individualist who doesn't suffer idiots, bureaucracy or bull sh****'s like yourself

        • Posted By: Young Hickory @ 08/29/2008 5:50:20 PM

Exactly, if you all are each so self reliant then there must not be much for a governor to do. You just proved how easy her job has been. All she has to do is just point big oil toward where to drill.

        • Posted By: AskPlus @ 08/29/2008 4:45:28 PM

You just sort of proved you're not that locally ambitious. Those words were not from the practical.

    • Posted By: jnakhoul @ 08/29/2008 5:32:04 PM

please theres more people in my city than the whole state of alaska.

  • Posted By: NO WAY NO HOW @ 08/29/2008 2:02:32 PM

McCain is proving that he is as condecending as Bush!
Palin is no Hillary! Just do the comparison/contrast starting with Palin's educational resume. Palin has a BA in journalism.
Then let's compare Palin's previous work experience: PTA president, hometown mayor, and governor for a
    year.
Is McCain's choice for VP a sample of future appointments he would make if elected? He has again proven that electing McCain would be four more years of the same. America IS better than what we can expect from McCAin. Hmmmm...Palin...OR Biden....Which makes us more secure and closer to the American Dream that has been tucked away by BUSH.

    • Posted By: oneamerican @ 08/29/2008 2:39:00 PM

She did more in her short time than Obama, which shows his inexperience more. You know as well as all of America, that Obama made one good speech years ago and was hand-picked when the democrats lost again in 04 to put a black man in the spot light. The democrats weren't counting on Hillary to run too, and they couldn't decide what to do

      • Posted By: loriw. @ 08/29/2008 5:48:44 PM

Oneamerican...don't be too hard on Obama....he did vote "Present" a lot...so he did do something.

      • Posted By: kle5507 @ 08/29/2008 3:18:40 PM

What are her acomplishments? She went from a Mayor to a Gov't of a small state (same difference). Alaska ain't exactly Illionis, not even close. Their population is smaller than LA. What did she do that makes her better than the Big-O?

        • Posted By: oneamerican @ 08/29/2008 3:48:18 PM

A senator, whether state or US, is simply one of a body. The governor is the top executive in the state. The way she has turned the economy around with money FROM big oil is proof she gets results. Obama has ideas of getting money from big oil, Palin HAS

      • Posted By: MsChiTown @ 08/29/2008 2:57:55 PM

What an idiiotic comment "The democrats weren't counting on Hillary to run." Everyone knew she was running. The republicans were the ones thrown for a loop by how strong Obama's campaign was. We'll see about Palin's experience. So far it looks like she was mayor of Mayberry for a few years and hasn't even warmed up the governor's chair yet. Anyway, enjoy yourself for now, Gustav's not looking pretty for next week.

    • Posted By: neocon @ 08/29/2008 2:09:15 PM

      • Posted By: Lancesmother @ 08/29/2008 2:21:33 PM

Apparently, he did read about her, why don't you read about her. Everytime I read a Republican's point of view, I see ignorance.

        • Posted By: jblackwell88 @ 08/29/2008 3:08:08 PM

That's only because you never understood economics. That said, Bush is a pariah and shouldn't be considered representative of conservative thought.

        • Posted By: neocon @ 08/29/2008 2:26:41 PM

Love how you people always take op-ed (opinion) reporting and try to make it truth. There is no proof at all except for the guy she fired's word (for what that is worth) that there is any truth to that. Are you that dumb to think there is truth to the scandal and Mcain would have picked her> Oh yeah, you're a Dem, you'll believe anyting if it has some dirt stuck to it.

      • Posted By: ltnelson @ 08/29/2008 5:48:08 PM

    Can you say..... patronizing.

  • Posted By: stematwork @ 08/29/2008 1:59:45 PM

before the dems got hot under the collar about "experience" they should look LONG and HARD at what obama has actually DONE. He's voted present. He's given speeches. That's it.
this lady has actually been in CHARGE of a state. She's actually signed legislation.
Of course, obama DOES give good speeches.

So, if you're going to criticize her experience as a VP, what in the world are you doing supporting a guy as POTUS who hasn't actually done anything as a campaigned shotened first termer in the senate?

    • Posted By: loriw. @ 08/29/2008 5:42:44 PM

He can only give a speech if the teleprompter is working.
Is there a teleprompter in the Oval Office?
How about in the Presidential bedroom...at 3am?

    • Posted By: ormolu611 @ 08/29/2008 2:31:31 PM

Well, I saw her acceptance speech and she was horrible. PTA meetings and basketball coaching mentioned in your acceptance speech? Oh boy...this woman is no Hillary Clinton. Like you said, at least Obama CAN give a good speech. Sorry, in McCains advanced age, if something happens to him, we will be stuck with Miss Alaska for president. At least Obama had the JUDGEMENT to pick Biden! Obama/Biden 08!!!!!!

      • Posted By: oneamerican @ 08/29/2008 3:25:51 PM

I believe Obama mentioned that teachers, coaches and other blue-collar workers he was fighting for. isn't that his strongest resume point, community organizer? I believe about half of his speech was about his humble beginnings and how proud he was of his humble family.

        • Posted By: loriw. @ 08/29/2008 5:40:46 PM

Sure wish Newsweek had left up the article on McCain's and Obama offices. It was a weak article but did have one very good observation by the author and one by a blogger.
The author stated that Obama's file cabinet was empty and his desk was clear...
The blogger said something to the effect that "show me a man with an empty file cabinet and I'll show you a man who hasn't done much!"

  • Posted By: kle5507 @ 08/29/2008 2:38:31 PM

I have to admit, I was surprised. I had though that McCain would surely go for Mitt R. But this was a gutsy call. A bit desparate, but gutsy. I guess you can train old dog McCain 1 Trick with plenty of head fakes. But bottom line is, Palin's no Hillary. This reminds me of the Clarance Thomas as the TOKEN pick to replace Justic Thurgood Marshall (one of the greatest american of the 20th century). That's a classic GOP mistake. They think all black people are alike and all women are alike.

Plan: Let's get some of Hillary's supporter. Action: Let's go out and get a woman VP, any woman would do. the General public is too stupid to tell (sometime, I think the GOP are right on this one). But some of us are too smart for this trick. I hope that McCain will now drop his idiotic charges about the Big O's inexperience to command. Compare to the Big O, Ms. P is a light weight. I'm not going to judge Ms. P on her sex, but rather her merits. Since she's the VP candidate, she must support McCain's position. And McCain position is anti middle class, anti-small business and anti-women. So, she must also be all these thing. In short, Ms. P is not even Hilliary Lite, her politics suggests that she's a wolf in a sheep's body. If McCain is to be delected Prez, there's a good probability that he could croaked in Office. Unlike Joe B, Ms. P requires a lot of vetting. Let the hunt for the wolf begin.

    • Posted By: oneamerican @ 08/29/2008 3:16:33 PM

Maybe you should test the logic of your comments before you hit the post button. If McCain doesn't support women, why on earth would would he pick one to possibly be leader of the free world after his term is up? Wanting to keep the Bush tax cuts if not anti-middle class. I must admit he could add limits. How can you say any woman. Have you ever been mayor, head of a corporation or Governor? Has Hillary for that matter? They only way she could get elected was off her husband's money and political machine.

      • Posted By: jnakhoul @ 08/29/2008 5:41:07 PM

uh yeah the tax cuts are anti middle class. its a redistribution of wealth to the top earners in our country. how is trickle up economics working for you huh?

      • Posted By: kle5507 @ 08/29/2008 3:55:03 PM

T-O-K-E-N VP. Even if McSame make it pass his first term, she will not make pass her party's nomination. The GOP is a patriarchal party (women plays second fiddle to their men). She's just red meat for the Mitt Romney's of the GOP world. The middle class got $1,000 from the bush tax cut, where as Millionaires and Billionaires don't pay taxes under the bush tax cut! The rich needs to pay more and they will under the Big-O, whereas 100 million middle class americans will get a tax cut under the Big-O.

Yes, I do think I can be a succesul Gov. for Alaska. The population is only 670,000 which is about the size of Memphis. So Ms. P went from being a mayor of a very small city to a mayor (Gov.) of a medium size city. And most Alaskan don't vote, it's too remote for everyone to vote. So the only people that do are the oil people and it's easy to keep them happy, just take their money and do what they say. See, told you I can do it! Hillary has had a record of 35 yrs. working on the behalf of women's right and children's issues. She's been around the world to meet world leaders and they all respect her.

BTW, I'm a Big-O supporter from the beginning. You know, Hilliary was once a GOP (Gold-Water Girl). I guess she saw the light and became a DEM. So take off those blinders, come see and fell the light and embrace the rays of the Big-O.

    • Posted By: hmmmmm @ 08/29/2008 3:04:17 PM

Thank God she is no Hillary! Explain lightweight when it comes to experience and accomplishments. Besides reading an impassioned speech from a teleprompter where most statements begin with "I", what has Obama done. He is a lightweight if I ever saw one, even if he is a celebrity lightweight.

      • Posted By: kle5507 @ 08/29/2008 3:39:19 PM

McSame can't read straight off of the teleprompter even if his life depends on it. One more reason why he's like GWB. I think McSame would give his left arm to get some of the Big-O's stardust. Don't be a hater that the Big-O can pack a 80,000 + stadium with supporter when McSame can't find 10,000 supporters to pack a smaller Gym to annouce his VP. This is know as "PEN*S Envy" Get over it!

        • Posted By: jblackwell88 @ 08/29/2008 4:09:17 PM

Haha that reminds me of when Obama's teleprompter quit. He shut down, hushed the crowd and never finished his presentation.

      • Posted By: TJ21 @ 08/29/2008 3:34:01 PM

If it's that easy to read off a teleprompter, why can't your boy bush do it?

  • Posted By: neophyte @ 08/29/2008 5:37:09 PM

Now that we have a high school basketball player on each ticket and an old guy on each ticket things are even aren't they. And, hey, creationism is the kind of science most republicans suck up anyhow. Why do we worry about drilling for oil when we could all pray harder and Jesus would make us some.

  • Posted By: eshuster @ 08/29/2008 2:43:55 PM

Boy do the Obama supporters hate this pick. My faith in McCain just went up ten-fold for his wisdom in this pick. She is more qualified than Obama to be President, so let's put the experience thing aside. I think Palin is bullet proof.

    • Posted By: reinadelaz @ 08/29/2008 3:17:31 PM

Surely, you are joking, right? We LOVE her. Bisen is going to have a field day and will CRUSH her in debates!

      • Posted By: NMartinez @ 08/29/2008 4:15:32 PM

Obama has been ducking debates with McCain for months. Now that McCain has a feisty female VP the likes of Hillary, while Obama's VP is more like grandpa from the Waltons, Obama is going to be running for the hills.... my friends!

If Obama really wanted to win the presidency, the 'good judgement' pick for VP should have been Hillary Clinton. She wiped the floor with him on debates. So obviously, this settles that 'good judgement' question once in for all. Suddenly, Obama is starting to look older than McCain, everyday.

If and when or ever, should they get to debate, the only one we will recognize in the group, would be Palin.

        • Posted By: jnakhoul @ 08/29/2008 5:37:03 PM

town hall debates my ass. its from the office of president not head of the PTA. only national debates will suffice. if he wants to have a town hall debate let it be somewhere outside the bible belt. id love to see how mr. mccain would do in front of a crowd in boston. at the opening of his idiotic "victory" headquarters in boston there were 3 times as many obama supporters hahahaha

        • Posted By: AskPlus @ 08/29/2008 4:49:54 PM

I'm sure Mr. Obama is afraid to debate. Whatever happened to Mr. McCain's Straight-talk, no BS express?

      • Posted By: jblackwell88 @ 08/29/2008 3:41:40 PM

The republican party is desperate this is why they chose a woman as their VP.. They think the american woman will vote for him because of this choice, well maybe the ones who cant add 2+2.. Hahahahha! You may also know that this woman has ordered the aerial shooting of wolves. A few month ago, They shot dozaines of adult wolves then after killing the parents, they shot all their pups in the head!
    Criminals to the end!!!!

I did notice while watching the video that McCain consistently fiddled with his wedding ring while watching Mrs. Palin talk. Not that this means anything, it is like watching the faces change on Lenin's tomb during the old May day parades, it is all the info we have, but it was noticeable.

  • Posted By: teddyo @ 08/29/2008 5:29:22 PM

john you just told 190,000,000 women voters. I think your stupid. She is a Baby carbon copy of you. (policies)

  • Posted By: cferns1530 @ 08/29/2008 1:22:48 PM

Palin was just selected by McCain because he wants the Hillary supporters. Palin is for big oil and Alaska barely has much to sustain America from independence like she's mentioned. It's just extra money for Exxon & Co. Palin can continue to paint her pretty picture of being a family woman for gun rights and her son in Iraq but it's nothing compared to what Biden has to offer.

    • Posted By: partridge @ 08/29/2008 1:32:26 PM

You dumb bunny! Palin has been anti-oil companies her whole life. Do your research before you mouth off.

      • Posted By: ElGuapo @ 08/29/2008 5:28:22 PM

How can you be anti-oil company when your husband switched from commercial fishing which has been depleted by the environmental impact of oil companies to working for BP on the North Shore of Alaska. Thal's not anti-oil by any stretch of the imagination. Why would we want to continue to desecrate our natural wonders for a commodity (oil) when our stated purpose is to be free from oil within 10 years. You don't hire a herion addict to wean people off of herion and you wouldn't hire an "energy/oil friendly" politician to set national policies designed to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. And for the record, just a short while ago Govenor Palin issued a press release praising Barack Obama's energy plan. Real solidarity on that ticket!

    • Posted By: loriw. @ 08/29/2008 4:52:08 PM

Biden can't even get an introduction right...Barack America? Or has Barack renamed the "57" states and not told us yet. He's already re-designed the Presidential seal. The ARROGANCE of hOpe? Sen. Obama there is no "I' in COUNTRY, it is WE the PEOPLE. PLURAL!
