THE REPUBLICANS we've had for the past 8 years is the same people who commited genocide against the native americans, promoted slavery and brought to almost extinction so many species like the buffalo and the wolfe, and are today trying to commit genocide on the most unfortunate in this country, by cutting all social programs. These people are criminals!! and they should be locked up!

honestly a pro-creationism candidate you've got to be kidding. were the dark ages that great that we need to completely abandon all science

Thank you john. Great pick. Sarah Who?

  • Posted By: Prt10 @ 08/29/2008 1:44:34 PM

Well let's see she was mayor of a small town and Governor for 20 months there is her resume. Are you happy now loriw? Her accomplishments are listed.

    • Posted By: ciltep @ 08/29/2008 1:48:16 PM

To knock her for lack of experience is to knock Obama. The only difference is he is on the top of the ticket. He's been running for Pres since he entered the Senate in 2004. Prior to that 7 years in the state legislature. I think 20 months of being "in charge" of reform where the buck stops with you trumps 7 years of state legislature and 4 years of gearing up for a Pres. run.

      • Posted By: loriw. @ 08/29/2008 5:21:00 PM

good reply. you beat me to it.
I would add, in response to Prt10 that she has actually lead her state government as governor where as Obama has sat on committees and and voted PRESENT on bills he didn't even write tho he tries to take credit for them. And lets not forget Obama position, while in the IL state government, that a live born baby should not get medical care even if viable.

      • Posted By: sue000 @ 08/29/2008 1:54:06 PM

The issue is that the republicans have been knocking Obama for lack of foreign policy experience. That argument is now defunct with his pick of Palin. McCain is 72 and has had bouts of cancer. It is a very realistic possibility that he could die in office. Is she ready to be commander-in-chief if that should happen? I am not convinced.

        • Posted By: Lancesmother @ 08/29/2008 2:30:33 PM

Not convinced, you shouldn't even be considering the possibility of her being President. A Bachelor's degree, please. We need intelligent leadership for a change, that is the biggest change that Obama and Biden would bring. Intelligence. Are all Republicans dummies.

          • Posted By: oneamerican @ 08/29/2008 3:36:13 PM

What about Abraham Lincoln's education: Lincoln's formal education consisted of about 18 months of schooling, but he was largely self-educated and an avid reader.

          • Posted By: jblackwell88 @ 08/29/2008 3:14:55 PM

Raise your hand if it wouldn't matter WHO the GOP picked so I can put an [X] in your box. Disparage Palin and McCain all you want, we all know it wouldn't make a difference to those solidly on the left.

          • Posted By: akguy @ 08/29/2008 3:14:47 PM

Oh please. As if a College degree automatically grants you intelligence. I deal with Dr.'s and Lawyers everyday who wouldn't recognize intelligence or common sense if it slapped them in the face. Sarah's record as governor and approval rating (80%+) in the state of Alaska speak for themselves. It is your argument that is unintelligent.

  • Posted By: jblackwell88 @ 08/29/2008 3:20:53 PM

If McCain had picked a white male, the Dems would have accused him of PANDERING to white men. Now that he's picked a white woman, he's still accused of pandering to them ( and no doubt the Dems will continue chanting the mantra of "change" while calling McCain McSame ). No one analyzes the fact Obama garners nearly ALL the black vote. Why should women feel disparaged that McCain picked one when blacks don't feel disparaged that the Dems picked one?

    • Posted By: Perseus65456 @ 08/29/2008 5:17:11 PM

The point is identity politics is schrewd and not about the issues that actually matter. Black, latino, women, gays...its a bet that you care more about what a candidate looks like then what their policies are. I'm sure she's capable, but there were likely better candidates to pick from, McCain choose a women to make it a choice for the identity voters. Basically saying: look, you can make histroy with my ticket too, now choose moron voters...more women vote then men so McCain figures there are more voters who only care about identity.

    • Posted By: AskPlus @ 08/29/2008 3:25:10 PM

If McCain picked a white male, we could have cared less. He wanted the limelight and he got it. Good for him. He wanted to show the world he's a "maverick" who can buck the system that he supported 90% of the time - and he did show that. She's a good media hack, mayor and two-year Gov, with no global, foreign or diplomatic ability. If she's right for the job, he did well.

That question has been answered on this blog 100 times. It's a cop out question looking for someone to jump through your virtual hoops. Do a search. Search for policy, health, war and legislature. Then add up the percentages, then follow the ratio of time/tenure time-lines. Then go to the Library of Congress and count. After you finish there, you come back and answer the question. But do your homework first. Oh. You will not like the answer. If you are too lazy to do all this, read the newspapers.

          • Posted By: funkdome @ 08/29/2008 4:03:28 PM

            Your non-answer says a lot.

The truth is that Obama has no meaningful experience. His entire career has been spent getting the next job.
Can anyone point out ANY accomplishment of Obama's besides election and nomination?

            • Posted By: AskPlus @ 08/29/2008 4:47:40 PM

In case you missed it. Stop being lazy.

I read everything & its all BS just like his speech last night. How can you be The Commander in Chief when you never served in the military. So in one of the most important issues (The War) he is inexperienced. Hes doesn't want to be a President. He wants to be a celebrity. Obama thinks this is american Idol. It's a presidential race.

            • Posted By: AskPlus @ 08/29/2008 4:46:51 PM

Wow. The real intelligence has arrived. He didn't fight in the military, so he can't lead? Pure logic and truth. Thanks.

      • Posted By: jblackwell88 @ 08/29/2008 3:38:09 PM

Well I kinda look at it this way : you can have all the experience in the world, but that doesn't make your ideas right. :) Just look at Ted Kennedy.

    "Young Hickory
However, not suprising from someone who tells rape jokes and calls Hillary Clinton a bitch."

McCain didn't cal Hillary a bitch. Are you ignorant or just a liar?

    • Posted By: Young Hickory @ 08/29/2008 5:15:07 PM

At an intimate gathering a McCain supporter asked "How do we beat the bitch?" (referring to Hillary). McCain responded "good question" and laughed. Was he agreeing (i.e. calling her a bitch) or is he so unprincipled that he was willing to overlook it just to grab for votes?

  • Posted By: Sane in Utah @ 08/29/2008 1:43:33 PM

Kind of scary that this woman from a little backwater state could be President if McCain keels over. She has NO foreign policy experience -- eeks!

  • Posted By: George from Westerville @ 08/29/2008 5:13:58 PM

Look out Cindy, you may have been replaced by a younger, attractive women. Seem familiar? I wonder if McCain will offer to have Ms. Palin be a contestant in a biker beauty contest, or call her the "C" word? I doubt if many Hillary supporters will fall for this blatent and insulting pandering. A female George Bush Jr. is not being progressive. Of course, there will be a lot of grey haired RNC dudes with monikers such as "sallysue4hillary" posting such tripe as "oh thank you McCain, golly gee whiz, now I'm voting for you!" Sheesh, give me a break. If this was not such an important election, I'd be ROTFLMAO.

As expected from Newsweek this is about as blah an article that they could muster about this incredible and accomplished woman.
Newsweek, mark my words, if you continue with your blatantly unbiased support of Obama you will regret it when McCain and Palin win in November. You will have lost all credibility with the American people with your unapologetic support of your messiah candidate. There is no I in COUNTRY and I wan people in the WHite House who understand that. Obama is in it for himself. The McCain-Paalin ticket is truly about a clear direction that is not ablut themselves but about the country!

Palin as a person in the government has some great accomplishes under her belt. Yes she may not have the years of experience of Biden but her ability to do the things that she promises, fight corruption and her dedication to doing all that she can in the position she is in is inspiring. Her ability to juggle her job and her family life is great as well.
The thing that cracks me up after reading all of these comments is that no ONE person has said that Obama is for Big Oil. It is claimed that McCain is Big Oil yet when the Tax cuts for Big Oil came up McCain voted against and Obama voted FOR, saying that it's a small step in the right direction! DO NONE OF YOU PEOPLE KNOW THAT OBAMA'S FAMILY HAS AN OIL BUISNESS IN KANSAS?!?!?! Look it up people! Obama says change with one hand and brushes his intentions behind voter???s eyes with the other.
I personally look at this election like the last one....pick the lesser of two evils. At least McCain is being honest about his intentions for this country, who knows how or if Obama is going to pull these miraculous changes out of his A$$.

Palin is Bush, anti abortion, pro guns, pro creation taught in schools, pro the Iraq war, she is right in line with Bush. As a former Hillary supporter, she has one thing in common with Hillary, she is female. Vote Obama!

What kind of woman wants to take a job so demanding after giving birth to a special needs child?

    • Posted By: loriw. @ 08/29/2008 5:00:22 PM

A woman that want a better world for all of her children! Same reason I am in local government and I had children with "special needs" too.
Your question just shows your prejudice against women.
Would you have asked the same question if Palin was a man?
I' m certain that her husband will be there for all their children and for his wife.

Oh man, this is going to be too easy for the Obama campaign. No one outside Alaska has even heard of this lady. Soon enough they will, and corruption and scandal will be all the people need to hear. Obama and Biden will destroy these two in the debates. BRING IT!!!

    YES WE CAN!!!

    • Posted By: jatrujillo72 @ 08/29/2008 1:39:38 PM

Barfreview: I figure that McCain will skunk Nobama in his three debates, The way I see it, Nobama is afraid of McCain. McCain challenged him to town hall debates this summer; however, Nobama refused. Biden will beat Palin.

Country 1st (atteding an Obama event and crying about Iraq does not count as service.) Sacrificing to serve ones country, state and city does (military, Peace Corps, State Department, Overseas missions, Cop, FIreman) Get it!

      • Posted By: loriw. @ 08/29/2008 4:57:13 PM

After hearing Palin speak today, I think she has a really good chance against Biden.
Biden doesn't represent change in Washington politics, he is Washington politics.
Palin has changed politics in her state for the better already. And I believe she will do it in Washington too.

Did anyone besides me hear the female commentator on CNN refer to the speech that Sarah Palin made as
    "the little speech she made.."
Who in the CNN world hired that moron to comment on Sarah Palin's speech?
I can't wait until the conservatives get ahold of that sound bite and demonstrate how much CNN is in the tank for Obama. CNN can't even hire women who respect women that have actually ACCOMPLISHED something other than blabber into the camera. I hope she (the female commentator) loses her job over that "little" word of hers.
Find it the comment was made at just about 2pm Indiana time

What did you expect from the Communist News Network? It is just another media franchise with a far leftist agenda. Everyone cries about Hannity and Rush being "far right" while ignoring the fact that the majority of our news stations are biased and have an extremely liberal agenda. They couldn't report correctly on the war, made up their own stories, blew up small stories in order to elicit a negative response and ignorerd the real news. Talk to any military member on the ground in Iraq concerning what was happening and what was being reported and you will see the difference. Problem is that extreme liberal hacks don't want the truth, they only want something that perpetuates their agenda. Viola.... CNN

Read European Newspapers. Most have English sections.
Highest input totals in Senates - meaning he responded to all questions concerns and debates.
His grasp of Foreign Policy is not just clear - it is accurate. He actually remembers.
14 Leaders actually endorsed him. Meanwhile Russia's claiming Mr. McCain instigated Georgia (They're lying, but look who they thought would believe it).

2.Barack Obama has missed 290 votes (45.5%) during the current Congress
3.Barack Obama has sponsored 136 bills since Jan 4, 2005, of which 122 haven't made it out of committee and 2 were successfully enacted.
            4. Of the three Afghanistan-related hearings that the Senate Foreign Relations Committee has had over the past 22 months, Obama, the Democratic candidate, has only attended one.
            5. had the power to hold hearings on our NATO operations in Afghanistan and failed to do so

Oh, please! Obama is so much up to his neck in scandals(Rezko, Wright, Larry Sinclair, funny birth certificate, Ayers, etc) That is a little thing about the firing of a state trooper. Does Obama really want to talk about scandals? That's why Obama won't play hard, he's got too many skeletons in the closet.

all the infant that were born alive and left to die, and Obamas position and vote that they should...their voices were silenced by death but Jill Staneck took up their cause and tried to have Obama hear their voices but he would not....well those babies will be heard now! Obama supported Infanticide and that is a very, very POLITICALLY INCORRECT thing to stand for. Said it was "too burdensome" to require the abortionsts to make a call to a doctor who could give medical care or at least comfort to these born ALIVE infants! One word for Sarah Palin...FABULOUS. As an Alaskan and a Democrat I did not vote for Sarah but I have come to love her. First and foremost she fights for the people of Alaska. She just gave us a $1200.bonus to help us pay for gas and food. She fights corruption in her own party. She's very tough, very straight road and very brilliant.. I was a Hillary supporter and I'm so excited about McCain's choice.

Shame on Palin! And shame on McCain! If Palin were a man, McCain would never have made this selection based on the extremely thin resume. McCain is a desperate man.
