The pick of Sarah Palin isn't a play for women supporters, it's an attempt to regain a sliver of the Maverick image he threw away when he pandered to the Conservative base and so quickly threw away the principles he claimed to have by negatively attacking Obama. She's a weak candidate and it's a weak pick by McCain, nothing about it instills a sense of confidence that he can make good decisions.

Palin's husband works with OIL!!! Wow, what a goddamn surprise! The GOP is dead.

    • Posted By: morningstar_tx @ 08/29/2008 1:46:12 PM

He's a production Operator!!! In another word he's just another average Joe working his blue-collar jobs. He's job is as far away from the oil profit as it can be.

People working in the Oil industry doesn't mean they don't support alternative energy. Your Stereo Type was the very first thing that drove many peopole voting for Bush in the first place. Where is the genuine respect for an average Citizen irregardless of their difference from you? If you think Bush is Evil then perhaps the Dems were the more evil of the two because their snobby attitudes is what made so many voters not feeling 100% secure voted for Bush. I'll bet you people WILL vote for Bush again for the third term (if possible) if it was Pelosi and Reid on the Dem's ticket out of the fear of crazy lefty liberal who will not hear a word of concerns from average right-leaning Joe American because they are "always right". Well, most people rather be sorry than be "wronged"...

Please take your GOP hatred elsewhere. Leave this guy who is earning his honest living along.

Sarah Palin is a wonderful pick for vice President. Both John McCain and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin realize that the Democrats under the leadership of Barack Obama want to effectively give away in trust our offshore exclusive economic zone by standing in the way of any current offshore development. Under the 1982 United Nations Law of the Seas Convention the US has an exclusive economic zone of 200 nautical miles and mineral seabed rights up to 350 nautical miles extending along the Continental shelf. A nautical mile is 6080 feet so our exclusive economic zone extends about 240 miles and mineral seabed rights extend 420 miles. The US has the world's largest offshore exclusive economic zone totaling 4.4 million square miles. In comparison, the total land area of the United States is only 3.4 million square miles. On the East coast alone, if you drive from Key West Florida to Bangor Maine it is 2000 miles. Multiply the 2000 miles by mineral seabed rights extending out 420 miles results in a total of 840,000 square miles of ocean acreage. Because we have the world's largest offshore coastline which is twenty-eight percent greater than our land area, it only makes simple common sense that we exploit our offshore resources to achieve our energy independence.

gustavgustav, you'r smoking crack. There is little difference between Obama's stance on policies and Hillary's other than she voted for the Iraq war. So, if Hillary and Obama share the same ideals and principles, except she voted for the war, then her supporters were really aligning with her because they too thought a vote for the war was a good thing. Obviously this is ridiculous. Call a spade a spade. Many of her supporters supported her because she had the same ideals and principles as Obama, but she was a woman.

One word for Sarah Palin...FABULOUS. As an Alaskan and a Democrat I did not vote for Sarah but I have come to love her. First and foremost she fights for the people of Alaska. She just gave us a $1200.bonus to help us pay for gas and food. She fights corruption in her own party. She's very tough, very straight road and very brilliant.. I was a Hillary supporter and I'm so excited about McCain's choice.

So she'll help give everyone in the US a $1200.oo bonus to help pay for gas and food?

Well for all the women voters who now say they want to vote for Sarah - if the fact she flies in the face for all Hillary beleives - they need to look no further than the whiner comment. Why would you want to vote for someone who has no respect for Hillary?

I am an Obama supporter but my first reaction is that this is a very smart move on McCain's part. As I understand the "scandal" has yet to be proved and from her past of fighting corruption probably won't be. Anyway, we Democrats need to focus on the real issue in this campaign : the economy and how Obama will deal with it. We need to ignore distractions like obscure scandals. If we allow ourselves to be distracted from the economy, we might actually lose this.

Sarah who? Are you freakin kidding me?! If McCain and the republican party thinks the women of this country are that dumb to jump to their ticket because of choosing Palin, they're dead wrong. Those who supported Hillary believed in her ideals and principles. Palin doesn't have any of those strengths going for her. A very weak choice for a very desperate party.

She better take care of sick child, but not play political games.
    Awful personality.
McWar ,stupid, thinks, as soon as he will dress GOP in skirt, American Women will follow this Idiot.
    NO WAY

    NO McCain

The scandal is nothing compared to Obama's scandals with Tony Rezko, Jeremiah Wright, etc. etc... Don't think we've forgotten, I hope McCain will slam Obama with that closer to election time and remind everyone who we're really dealing with. Bravo on his choice for VP, he's certainly ONE-UPED Obama on this one. To all the Hillary supporters..... A woman was not welcome on the Democratic ticket, however a woman is on the Republican ticket.... Come on over!!!

    McCain 2008!

    • Posted By: loriw @ 08/29/2008 1:30:58 PM

well stated RDOMINGUEZ! Here's a woman who has run the State of Alaska with strength and integrity as it's governor. She stood up against wasteful spending of the previous governor and took the state in a fresh and better direction. She is the kind of person we need in Washington!!! Women have a person of integrity that we can support. Women are women first and Republican or Democrats second....
McCain - PALIN 2008 COUNTRY FIRST!

  • Posted By: loriw @ 08/29/2008 1:23:50 PM

The Democrats can claim that they "hit it out of the ballpark" with their ticket but...
The REPUBLICANS WON THE WORLD'S SERIES with their pick with PALIN!
What an accomplished woman! Pro-life, a conservative who is anti-government waste, a true reformer and someone who is not owned by the lobbiests! FANTASTIC TICKET!
BUH BYE to the infanticide Obama ticket
