    Comment: This is a great article; I'm glad to see attention being given to the other side of Asia, the "shivering" side as opposed to the "shimmering" one. While both are equally interesting and relevant facets of Asia's development, the large numbers of the poor in the region, contrasted with the rapid development of major cities, means we should all be looking out for Asia, because the gap is getting bigger.

    Comment: Poverty is grim, even in the USA. It's one of the most overlooked issues in the world. If you want to read a pretty good accout of what it's like to be poor in the united states I just read a very enthralling article about it. Here is the link:
