Joe Biden, The American People, Mass Media, The National Enquirer & The People of State Of Alaska will EXPOSE Palin for the Fraud she is !!

ST. PAUL, Minn: Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and her Republican supporters held back little Wednesday as they issued dismissive attacks on Barack Obama and flattering praise on her credentials to be vice president. In some cases, the reproach and the praise stretched the truth.

    Some examples:

PALIN: "I have protected the taxpayers by vetoing wasteful spending ... and championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress. I told the Congress 'thanks but no thanks' for that Bridge to Nowhere."

THE FACTS: As mayor of Wasilla, Palin hired a lobbyist and traveled to Washington annually to support earmarks for the town totaling $27 million. In her two years as governor, Alaska has requested nearly $750 million in special federal spending, by far the largest per-capita request in the nation. While Palin notes she rejected plans to build a $398 million bridge from Ketchikan to an island with 50 residents and an airport, that opposition came only after the plan was ridiculed nationally as a "bridge to nowhere."

PALIN: "There is much to like and admire about our opponent. But listening to him speak, it's easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or reform _ not even in the state senate."

THE FACTS: Compared to McCain and his two decades in the Senate, Obama does have a more meager record. But he has worked with Republicans to pass legislation that expanded efforts to intercept illegal shipments of weapons of mass destruction and to help destroy conventional weapons stockpiles. The legislation became law last year. To demean that accomplishment would be to also demean the work of Republican Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana, a respected foreign policy voice in the Senate. In Illinois, he was the leader on two big, contentious measures in Illinois: studying racial profiling by police and requiring recordings of interrogations in potential death penalty cases. He also successfully co-sponsored major ethics reform legislation.

PALIN: "The Democratic nominee for president supports plans to raise income taxes, raise payroll taxes, raise investment income taxes, raise the death tax, raise business taxes, and increase the tax burden on the American people by hundreds of billions of dollars."

THE FACTS: The Tax Policy Center, a think tank run jointly by the Brookings Institution and the Urban Institute, concluded that Obama's plan would increase after-tax income for middle-income taxpayers by about 5 percent by 2012, or nearly $2,200 annually. McCain's plan, which cuts taxes across all income levels, would raise after tax-income for middle-income taxpayers by 3 percent, the center concluded.

there is no record of her keeping that earmarked money if she refused it the money would have not got to the state anyway and as for the facts on the bridge issue she said a bridge to that small out post would be a great idea but after getting swore in she reveiwed that bill and seen the amount of money that was earmarked for it she then knew that the money was not onl;y for a bridge but to line some pockets of the politicans that were in the goverment of alaska and then said no thanks ! and FYI all states get "earmarks" for projects that will help build up either the states tourist attractions or infastructure ! that was a legislative idea that was passed by nearly all of both the house and senate and signed by carter and was a good idea untill the crooks in washington figured out a way to get extra money out of the bills being introduced ! thats who we need to kick out of washington those bums !!

Sarah Palin cancelled the "bridge to nowhere" project, not because she thought it was wastefull and she opposed it, but because the earmarked money was not enough to complete the project. Here is her quote on the cancellation. "Ketchikan desires a better way to reach the airport, but the $398 million bridge is not the answer. Despite the work of our congressional delegation, we are about $329 million short of full funding for the bridge project, and it???s clear that Congress has little interest in spending any more money on a bridge between Ketchikan and Gravina Island. Much of the public???s attitude toward Alaska bridges is based on inaccurate portrayals of the projects here. But we need to focus on what we can do, rather than fight over what has happened." source http://web.archive.org/web/20071214143302/http://www.gov.state.ak.us/archive.php?id=623&type=1

That is right, kick out Bush 2 and Cheney 1 and put in Bush 3 and Cheney 2. That'll work. The only change you'll get from them is the fact that they are not blood related to the current administration.

I just wish Palin had moved over a little more so I could have read the teleprompter myself. She was as natural as processed cheese.

It's not up to her to refuse the money. The money didn't go to the bridge, but it went somewhere else? Do you know how the federal government works? Try watching the Saturday's morning conjuction/junction. You are very poor informed individual.

The mainstream media is going after Gov. Palin and her family. I thought the speech by Gov Palin was AWESOME! Just one question to everyone about an article in News Max this morning which mainstream media is not reporting about their Messiah Obama:
"Obama Had Close Ties to Top Saudi Adviser at Early Age"
BTW, this top Saudi Adviser is the founder of the Black Panther and has tied with Muslim radical. Why don't you investigate that. Is this the reason why the DNC convention last week did mention one word about Muslim Terrorist? Hum........

Both Rudy Giuliani and Sarah Palin specifically mocked Barack Obama's experience as a community organizer on the South Side of Chicago more than two decades ago, where he worked with people who had lost jobs and been left behind when the local steel plants closed.

Let's clarify something for them right now.

Community organizing is how the American people respond to out-of-touch politicians and their failed policies.

And it's no surprise that, after eight years of George Bush, millions of people have found that by coming together in their local communities they can change the course of history. That promise is what our campaign has been about from the beginning.

Throughout our history, ordinary people have made good on America's promise by organizing for change from the bottom up. Community organizing is the foundation of the civil rights movement, the women's suffrage movement, labor rights, and the 40-hour workweek. And it's happening today in church basements and community centers and living rooms across America.

Meanwhile, we still haven't gotten a single idea during the entire Republican convention about the economy and how to lift a middle class so harmed by the Bush-McCain policies.

It's now clear that John McCain's campaign has decided that desperate lies and personal attacks -- on Barack Obama and on The American People -- are the only way they can earn a third term for the Bush policies that McCain has supported more than 90 percent of the time and 95 percent of the time o Iraq issues. A Cynical no substance campaign that the McCain Campaign is waging is a reflection of the administration they will produce. The proof is in the pudding as is the tainted administration of the last 8 years.

Extend you never ending same PAIN with your vote for McCain and the clown.

What is,... the difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom?
Quite a bit,... unless you are Sara Palin and then it's just lip stick and the pit bull doesn't need it.

Ha Ha ha Ho Ho Ho He He He

They did talk about the economy. You need Medicare good luck, Unions...not on my watch. The government is too big as it is. If they get a chance to get rid of social security bye bye what did you do with your money. It's understood that why the Republican don't talk about it. However first you have to elect them.

I like that spin...isn't she great now vote for me. senators have no executive experience but McCAIN is experienced. But this isn't the hokey pokey, ,okay dokey

I'm still listening to Palin's Convention speech, and I'm quite disgusted by her and her constant appeal to the patrotism of the audience(not to mention Giuliani's speech of lies).
There has been NOTHING about her own positions on things, but rather only trashing Obama and the democrats. There has been nothing on issues, except for lies on Obama's positions on the same. There has only been a repetition of what we've already heard ad nauseum, about what Palin has done(?)/accomplished(???).
So far, I'm only impressed by what little it takes to impress an audience with appealing to their patriotism, with trashing the opponent, with appealing to their faith.
So far, I'm only worried(I'm MORE worried than before actually hearing her speak) that this woman will actually have a seat of actual power...! She seems to have a very narrow-minded idea of what the world looks like, and everything seems to be in black and white in her world...she's yet another puppet for the Republican power lobby, that will rule by their agenda, and - since she's yet to make up her mind on foreign affairs of which she knows nothing(by her own statement) - will be quite easy to direct, it seems.

Please God, help the Americans make a wise choice this time around, based on the issues and what is at stake!

Maybe you weren't listening because you were being escorted out of the room ranting and raving, but Palin clearly and succinctly stated the agenda for the Republican Party--balancing the budget, securing our energy needs, and promising a change in the scope of politics. First, to get this country back to energy independence. Sarah Palin is the State Governor and fiscal experience and responsibilities with that experience to do the job. When gasoline is $10 per gallon (it will be $10/gal because OPEC wants America on its knees), you'll be crying because Barack Obama is trying to figure out a solution. Did you hear the resounding chants and signs in the crowd of "Drill Baby Drill?" I think it was the recurring theme tonight throughout the evening. Maybe you own an oil rig in Long Beach: Drilling for oil in America, building nuclear power plants (which the Democrats have fought for decades), and doing what Palin has done for the past two years as the Alaskan Governor with the Alaskan pipeline--these along with other startegies for energy sources such as solar, wind, geothermal, these tactics will restore our economy and strengthen the dollar. To balance an unmanageable national debt and deficit and bring the budget into control again! Palin has managed the budget in Alaska (it sounds to me like Obama has never managed a budget or had fiscal oversight of an executive office. Palin actually managed an executive state office and had real fiscal responsibilities. Obama has spent taxpayer's money, but hasn't appropriately managed and allocated a budget. The McCain/Palin ticket is promising to finish the job in Iraq. To function without fear nor favor from the pollsters, media, and influentials who interfere with managing terrorism, Remember what Barack Obama wanted to do before selecting the epitome of the old Washington establishment--he abandoned his own plan by picking the same ole "dyed in the wool" oldtimer Mr. Politician and business as usual, Joe Biden!

        • Posted By: Mimi13 @ 09/04/2008 4:12:31 AM

Palin balanced the state budget, in part, because she kept the $400 million the taxpayers in the Lower 48 (and Hawaii) sent her to build the bridge to nowhere -- which she supported, as she supported all the earmarks Sen. Stevens could get her -- until it became politically unpopular to do so. But she kept the money. She gave all Alaskans $1200 by imposing a windfall profits tax on oil companies -- something that Obama supports as part of a national program and McCain vehemently opposes. And do you really believe that drilling up the wilderness and destroying the polar bear habitat for a tiny temporary price break in oil prices 10 years down the road is worth it? It's easy for Palin to support such things because she believes that God's plan is to extract all the natural resources from the earth (whatever happened to being good stewards?) and she believes that if global warming does exists (and she's not sure about that) it also it part of God's plan -- just like the Iraq War is part of God's plan. Her thinking is shallow. Her knowledge base is nonexistant in most important areas. Her education is mediocre. Her intellectual curiosity is lacking. And her first allegience is to Alaska rather that the United States. And then there are issues like reproductive rights. She believes that all abortions should be banned, including those for rape, incest and the life and health of the mother. She is a dangerous idealogue who's notions and ideas of how things work in the world have never been examined or challenged. She may be a "real" person, just like your neighbor -- but my neighbors are not equipped to lead the free world and neither is Sarah Palin.

The record on Palin keeping the earmarked bridge money is clear:

"Once elected governor in November 2006, Palin warned Alaskans that nationwide ridicule of the Gravina bridge would make it difficult to secure more U.S. money to meet rising cost projections. Last September, when Palin announced she was abandoning the project, she cited a growing financing shortfall. "It's clear that Congress has little interest in spending any more money on a bridge between Ketchikan and Gravina Island," she said. (Alaska was able to keep the U.S. money and direct it to other projects.)" International Herald Tribune -- Sept. 1, 2008

In addition, Ms. Palin was no stranger to using earmarks and lobbied extensively for them when she was mayor of that little town (pop. 7,000). From the same newspaper:

"As the new mayor of tiny Wasilla, Alaska, in 2000, Palin initiated a tradition of making annual trips to Washington to ask for more earmarks from the state's congressional delegation, mainly Representative Don Young and Senator Ted Stevens, both Republicans.

"It was about being face to face with those who were actually writing the budget," she told The Anchorage Daily News in 2006, boasting that she brought home more money for priorities like upgrades to the local sewer system.

"She directed Wasilla to employ Washington lobbyists to press for U.S. funds for the town, helping to obtain more than $8 million in earmarks for projects ranging from waterworks to a shelter."

She may stump against Washington "insiders," but the record demonstrates a different point of view.. Ms. Palin had NO reservations against using the insider system for her own advantage. This lady is not squeeky clean. She's just a pol with lipstick.

Comment: Here's what Ms. Palin said in her emails that "didn't" prove she tried to get her sister's ex fired.

"This trooper is still out on the street, in fact he's been promoted," said a Feb. 7, 2007, e-mail sent from Palin's personal Yahoo account.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/03/AR2008090303210.html?sub=new

It's damning but falls in line with her little Alaskan soap opera.

McCain and Palin get their health insurance paid for by the government (hers in Alaska and his in Washington). Yet they oppose giving the nearly 46 million uninsured Americans the same access to affordable health care.

John McCain's kids don't have to worry about paying for college. Yet he has opposed every single education support program to help others.

McCain and Palin say they will revamp how Washington does business. Yet his campaign is filled with lobbyists and she has cooperated with Sen. Ted Stevens in funneling federal money for useless projects in Alaska for years. And McCain and Palin have no solutions for Americans worrying about their jobs in a fragile economy.

This comment came from a Republican woman.

I am a Republican woman and thought Gov. Palin's speech really packed a punch. When she made the "community organizer / 'real' responsibilities" comment, however, I cringed with embarrassment. If it weren't for community organizers with names like Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Amelia Bloomer, Gov. Palin would never have been standing on that podium. Perhaps the term "community organizer" is vague, but the comment demonstrates how out of touch she is with the impact people and volunteers in the trenches have in trying to improve lives. Discounting the credibilty of this role is a big mistake. Can you say "Boston Tea Party"?

  • Posted By: chindognyc @ 09/04/2008 12:31:54 PM

How come Sarah Palin could talk about National Security, but couldn't talk about everyday kitchen table problems like health care and our economy and our school system. Once again the right wing keep trying to scare Americans with terrorist and war. How about helping the middle class cause they never talked about it.
How come Sarah Palin was a member of the Alaskan Independence Party and America don't question her about it. Remember, the AIP wants no part of America and they said that Sarah Palin was a member.

"After extensive news coverage about all this nasty behind-the-scenes scandal [TrooperGate], which is definitely NOT squeaky clean, Palin???s approval ratings fell to 67%, still high, but a far cry from the 80% number that???s being thrown around so glibly by the Republicans today. Alaskans are quickly becoming disillusioned once again." ----- very true.

How in the world can the rebugs tell America to lay off her family, when they parade them around, and use them in every photo op? They did not talk at all about policies last night. All Palin did was to attack OBAMA in a B I T C H Y way last night. Whoever wrote her speech (Bush administration) did her a disservice.

In the "married" group, when one attendee kicked off the discussion by saying "she's a good speaker, and a crowd pleaser," the rest of the room articulated their agreement. "I didn't expect to be as impressed as I was," said another respondent. But then another woman added: "Once she started mudslinging, I thought, it's the same old crap as other politicians. McCain used her to get the women's vote. And she's using McCain."

"Thank you," another woman responded. "That really upset me; there was no need for that. It was snippy."

The unmarried group also voiced similar objections to the harsh, partisan edge of Palin's remarks. "I'm not impressed with her at all as a person," one said, citing her "finger pointing" and general sarcasm after the group had generally agreed that she was a talented public speaker.

Still not all focus group members thought Palin came off too harsh. "She didn't seem very aggressive to me at all," said one unmarried participant.

But in both groups, narrow majorities said they held a more negative view of Palin after her speech. "She comes off pretty cutthroat," said one.

In two different focus groups of Clinton-supporting Nevada women -- married and unmarried -- conducted immediately after Gov. Sarah Palin's Wednesday night speech to the Republican National Convention, a few common reactions quickly took shape.

First, women in both groups were impressed with Palin's speaking ability and poise. But they were hardly convinced that she was qualified to be vice president, or that she truly represented the "change" they were looking for, especially in light of what was deemed an overly harsh "sarcasm" pervading her address.

The (mostly) anonymous proceedings were webcast live to reporters, who were told in a press release that the Nevada focus groups would include "some former Hillary Clinton supporters who are now undecided or are weak supporters of Barack Obama or John McCain." No party identification was made available, though the approximately two dozen women were reportedly between 30 and 60 years old.

FORMER ARKANSAS GOV. MIKE HUCKABEE: Palin "got more votes running for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska than Joe Biden got running for president of the United States."

THE FACTS: A whopper. Palin got 616 votes in the 1996 mayor's election, and got 909 in her 1999 re-election race, for a total of 1,525. Biden dropped out of the race after the Iowa caucuses, but he still got 76,165 votes in 23 states and the District of Columbia where he was on the ballot during the 2008 presidential primaries.

FORMER MASSACHUSETTS GOV. MITT ROMNEY: "We need change, all right _ change from a liberal Washington to a conservative Washington! We have a prescription for every American who wants change in Washington _ throw out the big-government liberals, and elect John McCain and Sarah Palin."

THE FACTS: A Back-to-the-Future moment. George W. Bush, a conservative Republican, has been president for nearly eight years. And until last year, Republicans controlled Congress. Only since January 2007 have Democrats have been in charge of the House and Senate.

It's interesting that Palin's supporters cry "sexism" whenever she is asked the same questions asked of anyone else (And yes, anyone else WOULD be asked about his or her unwed, pregnant, teenage daughter). You know what is a TRUE insult to women? Choosing Palin, the least qualified of the top 30 potential VP picks, just because there's an assumption that women will vote for her and not consider her qualifications.
