Given the vicious hysteria that engulfed the nation over Obama's pastor, it's disappointing that you chose to whitewash Kalnin's extremist (and illegal) endorsement of George W. Bush. He claimed that those who failed to vote for Bush would suffer eternal hellfire, and that Kerry supporters would be denied the kingdom of heaven. He has also represented the invasion and occupation of Iraq as a mission from God, a position that has also been represented by Palin. Palin's denomination also looks forward to the destruction of the State of Israel and the Jewish people in the end times, which they consider imminent (although they currently favor Israel -- which is necessary for the pre-annihilation "ingathering" -- at the same time as they support "aggressive" missionizing of non-Christians, including Jewish Israelis.

"no tobacco, no alcohol, no social dancing, no sex outside of marriage"

I don't these writers have seen a Christian before. Perhaps they would prefer a church that slams America? If only we had a candidate who's church has slammed America in the past...

This all falls in line with who she is. Evangelical, judgmental, strict and closed-minded. Meanwhile, like most tragedies, mom and dad have too much advice for her neighbor, but none for her kids. Seems she should have stayed out of her sisters affairs too. Bristol should be supported, but you still have to send the message that she's not exactly being a role-model. She could be a Bush daughter.

I was taught by my mother " I can tell you right from wrong. Then you decide what you want to do .Then let your concience be yor guide and the sky the limit. Just remember if you make your bed hard. You will have to lay in it.I have passed this along to my children and grand children.People should think more, before making a desion.

      • Posted By: star3 @ 09/03/2008 2:15:06 AM

Yes, lake, they should, and we keep hoping they will, and include ourselves in the "they", because all of us, without exception, has used poor judgement at some point, especially when we are young and testing the waters, so to speak. I have learned that you can not make anyone wise, that comes with hard knocks and experience. All of us would love to protect our children from the mistakes we made, or observed someone else making, but we can not. We can only teach them morals, values and respect for themselves and others, but once they go out into the world as young adults, they will be responsible for putting those lessons into effect, but there is a lot of temptation out there, and not everyone will be able to resist. But, when they discover that old fashioned Mom & Dad were correct, they will, usually find themselves back in the family fold, and wanting to find a way to forgive themselves, and move on with their new wisdom, to learn from their mistakes, just as we did, and just as, one day, they will be teaching their own little ones the importance of remaining moral, and the values of respect. Life has a way of coming full circle.

Sarah Palin is pictured with a beautiful wild animal that she has just slaughtered in front of her young child. Sarah loves moose burgers and moose stew. That is her version of pro life.

Right on. Shoemaker's kids have no shoes.

      • Posted By: loriw @ 09/03/2008 2:06:42 AM

If Lizzy had her way she would have forced Palin's to abort Trig.
        If Bristol was Lizzy's daughter.......
Lizzy would have dragged Bristol to the abotion clinic and forced her to have an abortion so Bristol wasn't "BEING PUNISHED WITH A BABY". And if that baby was born alive....Lizzy would probably want the abortionist to to leave the baby to die alone, a long and lingering death.

        • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 09/03/2008 4:21:44 AM

loriw: abortion is legal in the USA but I do not advocate for or against abortion.

You are paid to 'wipe butts' so let's just say that issues of morality and ethics are well beyond your pay grade.

      • Posted By: star3 @ 09/03/2008 2:00:45 AM

Careful how you judge another before you have walked in their shoes for awhile. It must be lonely up there on that pedestal. So happy for you, Mr. & Mrs. perfect, that you have such a lovely family, bet you stay so busy polishing your halos, that you don't have time to get involved in the realities of life as we peasants do. Life has a way of coming at you, slapping you in the face when you least expect it, and just when you think you've finally got it figured out, along comes a new surprise to deal with. But, then, in your world, i'm sure you wouldn't know anything about those kind of things. Most humans, unlike you, have feet of clay, which often tends to get them into trouble, but you would be amazed at the ability of the human spirit to heal itself, and to even help other humans when they need to, in spite of their own pain. If you have ever experienced any type of disappointment with anyone in your family, or with yourself and have delt with it in the best way you could that was comfortable to you, then welcome to the world of real people, but if you haven't, then continue to sit on your lonely pedestal, and stagnate.

Bravo to McCain for pulling his interview on CNN tonight over Campbell's very unprofessional and rude behavior earlier today. It is about time that someone stood up to the media BIAS and BS that has been going on during this campaign. Seems the media is testy because they didn't get any leaks on the Palin announcement and they got caught with their pants down. BRAVO MCCAIN!

    • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 09/03/2008 5:17:54 AM

Not to mention your own BIAS and BS throughout this campaign.

  • Posted By: mammaof3piners @ 09/02/2008 11:25:09 PM

E.Paige - yes , she was a mayor. Now she's a govenor. Huge difference. It's like running a very small country. And not everyone's dream is to go to an Ivy League University - believe it or not.

    • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 09/03/2008 4:54:01 AM

I don't care what university Palin attended. She is a governor, not an ordained minister. Governing at any level has nothing to do with one's religious beliefs. One does not need an Ivy League education to understand the doctrine of separation of church and state.

Even her own daughter didn't buy her evangelizing. She needs to zip up about morality. Imagine having the gall to say that a woman who becomes pregnant through rape or incest cannot have an abortion. No United States Supreme Court or American Congress will ever agree to her craziness.

    • Posted By: Mimi13 @ 09/03/2008 1:53:45 AM

In Palin's case, she is governor of a VERY small "country", indeed. Alaska's population is about the same as Baltimore, MD or Fort Worth, TX.

  • Posted By: Dan Robinson @ 09/02/2008 3:32:02 PM

I'd never heard of Palin before last week. But so far, I like what I hear and will give her the chance to prove herself without the burden of explaining away her low-life, soon-to-be, son-in-law. Poor Jimmy Carter was burdened with brother Billy. Surely we can pass on Palin's daughter's boyfriend.
After all, there are only 6,000 people in town. The the number of available guys in the gene pool is very small.

That's all we need is an old geezer as president and a dumb redneck beauty queen a heartbeat away. I am as insulted that I as a man would vote for a woman who is hot as mcuh as Hillary's supporters are as insulted that they would vote for Palin because she is a woman. People get real she was a dumb choice.

      • Posted By: loriw @ 09/03/2008 1:54:57 AM

CNN reported this today that Wright was making statements again about Obama and the campaign.

    • Posted By: loriw @ 09/02/2008 5:30:49 PM

Shirebourn...it would if Newsweek and a lot of other so called "news" media hadn't already elected Obama POTUS. You see because they are so biased they won't write anything that is the least bit favorable toward either Palin or McCain because that would go against their agenda.

      • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 09/03/2008 3:17:52 AM

Who is forcing you to read Newsweek? Move on.

Can't wait for former DNC VP candidate Joe Liebermans speech tonight. Boy the DNC is falling apart.

Hussein's gonna miss those Jewish votes.

    NOBAMA!!!

    • Posted By: neos @ 09/02/2008 7:19:51 PM

Liebermann is still steamed at the DNC for not supporting him in his last bid for the senate. His credibility is zero.

      • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 09/02/2008 7:25:16 PM

Credibility ZERO??? Either you are full of HOPE or drinking too much Kool-Aide. Lieberman has LOTS of clout. Especially with independents AND the Jewish vote.

He had enough credibility to be selected as Kerry's VP candidate. Ya'll will be boo-hooing by Sat. and Husseins campaign will be virtually over by Oct. 1.

        NOBAMA!!!

        • Posted By: loriw @ 09/03/2008 1:15:14 AM

Holy Roller you are correct here.

          • Posted By: loriw @ 09/03/2008 1:22:34 AM

I was referring to your statement about Lieberman's clout with the Jewish and Independent vote.
And yes ...Obama's glow is fading...
Guess why that is why Campbell on CNN was so testy Tuesday...they see their chosen one floundering
            in his own words.....
Obama singing the words he wrote to the Cooke song...Don't know much about biology, don't know much abouy geography..."
As evidenced by the convention when Obama didn't know if he was in St. Louis or Kansas City. Calling Wasill..Wasilly. Not knowing when life begins or that a baby born alive is REALLY ALIVE!

Liberman is an opportunist - he is as deparate as McCain, because he knows as soon as he is up for re-election, he's out. So he is hoping for a cabinet position.

Too bad that is not going to happen.

  • Posted By: ChicoCDM @ 09/02/2008 7:24:29 PM

  • Posted By: wildlifeusa @ 09/02/2008 5:58:14 PM

And my response to you. This country was built on genocide and slavery. You are the most violent society on earth! Europe does not allow hand guns, but they do allow weapons to hunt. We have far less crimes that you have in this country. School shooting is an unheard of event in europe. This country is insane and you are seen as such all over the world!

    • Posted By: star3 @ 09/03/2008 2:42:34 AM

You keep saying "This Country"; if Europe is so much more civilized, then why are you in "This Country"? In "This Country", if you are referring to America, I can't speak for any other one, but in America we have the freedom to have weapons if we choose to, and as for violence, I admit, I don't know the statistics, but don't try to convience me that your country is perfect; maybe the only reason we have more violence is because we have more people. When the population is large, yes, there will be more crimes, that is a given, so whats your point?

  • Posted By: SeeingAndBeingSeen @ 09/02/2008 5:25:54 PM

LISTEN UP OBAMA WHINERS: McCain picked Mrs. Palin to secure the Evangelical and Catholic vote, which is now secure. This is over 100 million voters and they vote togethere. Is it wrong that he picked her just to win? Maybe, but the bottom line is 1st and 2nd place. Sorry, but barring a MAJOR MISTAKE by McCain/Palin.....the election was won last Friday.

    • Posted By: Zig Zag @ 09/02/2008 7:15:11 PM

So when Obama wins in November, I guess you are going to be really disappointed,

      • Posted By: Dduellman @ 09/03/2008 2:16:43 AM

Sorry to burst your bubble, but this Roman Catholic is voting for Barack Obama and Joe Biden. By the way, Biden is also Catholic.

    • Posted By: neos @ 09/02/2008 5:40:02 PM

Is it wrong that he picked her just to win? Maybe,.. Maybe???? Are you kidding? McCain the gambler has taken an incredible risk with our nation's future by making this gimmicky choice.
And if the election was won last Friday, why is the Obama/Biden ticket rising in the polls? And why is the major topics of discussion on day 2 of the repub convention Bristol's baby, trooper-gate, bridge to nowhere, etc., etc.?

      • Posted By: SeeingAndBeingSeen @ 09/02/2008 5:55:27 PM

Major topics of discussion are all Mrs. Palin. Mr. Obama got 11 hours of coverage after his "Sermon on the Mount" in Colorado, 11 hours, lol!!! McCain's political strategists and campaign managers are killing it!! All of the press coverage is on McCain/Palin (good or bad,as long as they're talking). Is simply amazing how Joe Biden isn't mentioned anywhere on the WWW. What a brilliant pick, regardless of whether or not she is qualified. OH NO, HEARTBEAT AWAY, HEARTBEAT AWAY, NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

yeah it is pretty comical....actually it is tragically sad especially when the average person believes what these people put out there.
CNN claimed tonight to be fair. Yeah , right! Want to see fair journalism? You sure wouln't have seen it today with Campbell's unprofessional and down right rude "interview" today with the McCain campaign spokesperson.

      • Posted By: loriw @ 09/03/2008 1:08:23 AM

How can CNN talking heads begin to claim they are fair in their coverage of the conventions.
The Democratic convention was re-broadcast every night in it's entirety.
The Republican convention was not re-broadcast in it's entirety...only bits and pieces. Fair? NO!
But to their credit they did respond to the complaints last week regarding their incessant talking over the other speakers who were not as well known.

You left out the most interesting part:; how two weeks ago, Sarah Palin sat in her church while the speaker, Brickner, preached that terror on Israel is God's wrath for jews failure to accept Jesus. This is not a joke: see Andrew Sullivan on Atlantic Online just now.

    • Posted By: Mimi13 @ 09/03/2008 1:38:43 AM

She has also spoken in her church in support of the Iraq War as part of God's plan and she has said (also in the Wasilla Assembly of God church) that the natural gas pipeline that she's trying to contract out to a Canadian firm is God's will because God wants us to extract natural resources. She urged the young people attending the church to "pray for the pipeline."

  • Posted By: JOJAZZ @ 09/02/2008 6:06:00 PM

star3 - you can be underwhelmed. You aren't the audience I am speaking to, anyway. You've come in with a prejudice and have made your mind up, anyway. Who cares? I'm not trying to knock down a "brick wall".....I'm trying to open up a door of inquiry. Your door has been slammed and locked to any further thought or contemplation..

    • Posted By: star3 @ 09/03/2008 12:47:42 AM

JoJazz, you couldn't be more wrong. I am always open to listen to anyone who has something worthwhile to offer, but the door you are trying to open is one not many are willing to enter. Your type are so judgemental of anyone who does not fall all over themselves agreeing with you. There are many things I agree with the left on, just not most things. For instance, i believe that liberals are not wrong in wanting to avoid war, that is a nobel idea, but I do believe they are wrong in thinking it is always possible. I, also, agree that we should protect our natural resources, but I am not a fanatic about it, if we never cut down a tree or killed an animal, we would soon be over run with forest and animals; i do not believe in killing just for sport, but only if the animal is a threat in some way, and even then, an attempt should be made to remove the animal to its own natural envirement, and killed only as a last resort. It seems everything on the planet is protected except the one natural resource that should be included in that protection---humans. Now, you can feel anyway you want about mje, as long as i feel comfortable with who I am, and I know God is happy with me, thats the only thing that is most important to me. If someone mocks you for doing the right thing, do the right thing anyway, for it was always between you and God, never between you and them. A quote from Mother Teresa.
