As far as pointing fingers at anyone, the Bible clearly says "Let him that is without sin cast the first stone". Enough said.

And if I was president, I would clean up this country of all the guns!!

.............................I think after the eight years of George Bush pushing Born Again Fundamentalism on us through his political powers it is time to give the Religion In Politics a rest for the next four years. Let Americans have their own personal thoughts and views relating to religion and let the people control their own government and how that government works for the betterment of their lives without the religionists butting into their lives.

    • Posted By: mcdeere72 @ 09/02/2008 5:35:32 PM

Wow, religion in politics are being pushed on you? Hmmm, prayer in the school, pledge of allegiance and temn commandments removed from the courthouse, definitely means church is being shoved down your throat.....

    • Posted By: neos @ 09/02/2008 5:22:51 PM

Excellent idea. I doubt that the republican taliban will give up their power so easily...

  • Posted By: wildlifeusa @ 09/02/2008 5:32:56 PM

Your hypocrisy is so outrageous, you pray to a God of love, a God whose words to you is to help the most unfortunate, the poor and when you get out of your churches, all you do is despised and reject the poor, not wanting to give them universal health care when universal health care is considered a RIGHT in all civilized countries, not a privilege. You people are
an abject abomination!!! You people are a danger to this country, to the freedom in this country!!!

Another hit job by "News"week. Isn't this election supposed to be about real issues?

  • Posted By: tiredoflies @ 09/02/2008 5:05:53 PM

I strongly disagree that Bristol Palin???s problems have nothing to do with the parents.

On the contrary, it has everything to do with their responsibility and supervision to instill in their daughter the strength to say NO at the appropriate time.

Saying that your children???s problems have nothing to do with the parents is an attempt by those parents who are too busy in their own lives to provide the appropriate responsibility and supervision for their children.

    • Posted By: Alaskan Resident @ 09/02/2008 5:27:00 PM

Yes but you can only instill so much, and because it would be weird and inappropriate to follow your young adult children in any and every outing, descion and actions are ultimately those of the young person.
Now how can you blame the parents for her actions? Im sure they did not advocate for her to become intimate at seventeen years old. I know at seventeen a young person feels responsible to themselves and knows what is expected of them as a young adult and are aware of the consequences of making choices other than what the parents want.
Bottomline you can't blame the parents. Yes shcedules may be busy, but as long you give your child the time and information, these children will make their own choices. You can only want for their choices to be good.
It will affect the entire Palin family, but it will not affect the performance of the Govenor. She has a wonderful support system and Im sure they will be just fine.
I'm suprised that this is such a shocker. I'm NOT agreeing with what happen, but teen pregnancy has been an issue nationwide for sometime.
(AND) It effects people in all standings as well.

If you aren't scared of this woman then you NEED TO BE!!! She has the potential to be one (weak) heartbeat away from being dictator, um I mean President.

  • Posted By: neos @ 09/02/2008 5:13:38 PM

It seems that McCain's pick of Palin has allowed that old, tired divisive issue of abortion to re-enter our politics. Rove's latest incarnation, Steve Schmidt, is doing his master proud.

  • Posted By: neos @ 09/02/2008 3:46:50 PM

I am troubled by McCain's pick for V.P. Hell of a risky gamble for our nation's future I'd say. Palin seems perky, quirky, scrappy, quite the "character," but scarcely presidential. My main complaint with her so far is that she didn't turn McCain down cold. She seems bright enough to know that she is incredibly unqualified to run Starship America. Or maybe she has George's problem and she isn't. Well, time will tell.
On C-span today, a group of republican strategists were asked, 'if Sarah Palin were Sam Palin, would HE have been selected.' To their credit the panel answered honestly that no , HE would not. So it appears that this is a gimmick to go after the female vote even at the risk of putting an unqualified candidate in the white house. McCain has put 'getting elected first' above 'Country First.'

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 09/02/2008 3:54:07 PM

I'm troubled by the entire Dem. ticket. A communist, mohammed , community organizer, wit questions about his citizenship for POTUS, and a plagurizing, full of himself, bought and paid for, kook for VP. How far the Democrats have fallen. Ya'll should have chosen John Edwards. He has much less baggage.

      NOBAMA!!!

      • Posted By: Red Meat Democrat @ 09/02/2008 4:09:03 PM

        We should have chosen Hillary.

        • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 09/02/2008 5:12:09 PM

You got that right. Chosing The False One over Sen Clinton, is the dumbest DNC move of all time. She wins POTUS quite easily . McCain will easily defeat Hussein.

          NOBAMA!!!

      • Posted By: Educate4America @ 09/02/2008 4:33:15 PM

HolyRoller, your handle is appropriate. You fall in line with your party, and that's why the GOP is demographic-izing themselves out of existence. McCain has more questionable citizenship claims than Obama, why don't you check your facts. If you think Obama is a communist, you don't know true communism or socialism. GOP is all about willful ignorance, and you prove that point.

      • Posted By: Zig Zag @ 09/02/2008 4:19:41 PM

I can't wait until Obama wins in November. I think HolyRoller's head to going to pop right off !!!

I think that those who feel that the "Liberal Left" is some how behind all the media attention regarding Sarah and Bristol have alot to learn about what is really going on !! Don't think for a moment that the Roves, Limbaugh's and Dobson's of this great country aren't salivating over the perceived notion that the Demos are behind this circus !! This is the kind of cut-throat playbook that the Repubs are very familiar with. In fact - if they didn't invent it - they have certainly taken it to an art form level. And may I add........there's such a thing as "bad art" !!! How can you forget what Bush and his "Rove Gang" buddies did to MCain in the South, when they ran against each other? These are pros - they live and love this game....and want the public to think that the Demos are using smear tactics and planting the seeds in this swarmy garden !! It's appalling to use Bristol, a kid who is going through some tough times....whether she is having a baby in 4 months - or has had a baby already !! However, the COUNTRY loves titilating stories...whether it's Hollywood or Politics !! The media hands it out like candy - and we ALL go for it. So STOP blaming it on the Demos. If anything - Obama and Biden have taken the "higher ground" - which shows their true character. What does all of this say about McCain - and his vetting procedure? And if the guy can't even get this one right - how is he going to get the myriad of vital and important decisions, right??? Just start paying attention to the REAL Sarah Palin and how she has voted. It will ALL come out. Plus - pay attention to what she has accomplished as Mayor/Gov.....the "bridge to NOWHERE" that she initially voted for.....Sen Ted Stevens and his link to her financially, especially as Mayor of Wasilla .....the sister-in-law and state patrol man investigation. There's alot to question - and more to come. Why did 12 lawyers just land by plan in Wasilla ??? Something is a brewing in "Hinterland"...and the moose and bear are getting nervous !!!

  • Posted By: palotree @ 09/02/2008 5:05:03 PM

Using the reasons that Palin has executive experience and that Obama does not, who has been running the campaigns for all of the indiividuals, if that is not experience what is? Apparenly Mc Cain has forgotton about do no harm.

Wake up! Obama isn't Muslim; he is more Christian than you are. You are just using more scare tactics. The ignorant do that since they have nothing intelligent to say.

JOJAZZ: You must not have read the same article I did. Where do you get this information from?

  • Posted By: jradmacher @ 09/02/2008 4:15:33 PM

Oh no here we go again. Sometimes I think these right wing extremist have to much in common with Muslim extremist. They are the one???s that have bombed abortion clinics and also seem to get caught doing the very thing they preach against. I hate to classify a group of people but most of the Pentecostal I have met are more like cult members than church groups. It seems like their minds are like cement. All mixed up and as hard as a rock.

  • Posted By: JOJAZZ @ 09/02/2008 4:07:52 PM

I'd like to know how she can justify being part of a serious organized coalition of Alaskans who want to be freed and separated from the United States....and then accept the VP position for the country that she doesn't even want to be part of? How can that be justified? You can't have it BOTH ways !!

  • Posted By: kangaman @ 09/02/2008 3:24:44 PM

Palin is a good pick, Women feel like she is one of them, Men think she is hott. They even have a poll asking how hott is Palin? at veep peek. they also have some pictures of her looking rather sexy. http://www.veeppeek.com

    • Posted By: jnakhoul @ 09/02/2008 2:43:52 PM

ugg some uptight neocon as sexy, please thats like saying condeleeza should be in maxim

  • Posted By: Yes! We ALL Can @ 09/02/2008 2:16:00 PM

Women and men don't choose a vice president nor a president based on "hotness". American people are a hell of a lot smarter than McCain and his campaign are giving them credit for. If you poll women voters and independent voters (groups McCain was trying to sway with this pick) it has backfired. McCain's judgement is under serious scrutiny right now in picking someone with no national, economic or foreign policy experience, just meeting and talking to her only twice before choosing her and among many other things we are just finding out - she said that we went to Iraq as a "Task for God", she is linked to the corrupt senator in Alaska (Stevens) who is now under his own investigation for corruption, by directing his fundraising campaign - and oh - let's not forget to mention that she was a member of a party in Alaska that wants to break Alaska away from the United States to become it's own country!! Are you kidding me?!! This is the best pick McCain could could up with? His judgement and decision making capabitlies at 72 years of age is in serious question and jeopardy!
