what's ironic about Palin's 17 years old daughter's pregancy is not it really matters with her candidacy, but if the table is turn-around and Obama's daughter, you can imagine how much outcry on the republican side will take this chance to exploit this situation. And also, it is ironic it is these republicans that are constantly and consistently insist on flogging the single monthers and their proclaimed owning the virtue of their so-called 'family values'. And the is what the hypocrisy that is worth of noting here.

Strengthening our boarders and encouraging COMPETITION (rather than TAXING) business! She didn't attack gun owners or christians.
Whine!!!!! (come on Liberals!! ) . Whine!!! Scream," ohhh, she's a witch!"
Because that's what really bothers you any way!

I'm all for focusing on the issues, which are: Palin fires people who are against her, whether they do their job competently or not. She's extremely partisan and ideological. She is for earmarks and the Bridge to Nowhere and now she's against them. I was having a hard time choosing, and this made the choice easy for me. McCain caved to Rush Limbaugh (et al). However, I find the angry left's reaction to be tasteless (just as I find the angry right to be tasteless). I wish the ideologues on both sides would grow up.

Anybody even consider what's going through Bristol's 17 year old mind right now; that her pregnancy might not just shame her parents and her family, but could cost her mother her job as second-highest elected official in the country, and even conceivably decide the fate of our nation's leadership for the next 4 years? Don't scoff...just think about it for a moment. This pregnancy is getting more press than Iraq, the economy, and energy, and as close as this election has become, the pregnancy and events surrounding its announcement, may be the lynch-pin that decides the election.

...and you thought your teenager had issues.

If you wish to attack Sarah Palin, the press and the Democrats are digging up plenty of dirt--some of it's even relevant to the race. But no 17 year old deserves this.

And the 17 y.o. should not have been placed in this arena with her circumstances. Agreed.

wrong. wrong. wrong. Sarah Palin chose to call herself a devoted wife and mother up front. That makes her parenting skills an issue. She chose to give birth to a child with Down syndrome. Ok --fine --now comes the hard part : rearing that child. One parent can't do that --it going to take two (remember the Republican mantra of two parents, two parents are better than one?) SO she is choosing not to be there for that one. Her eldest is pregnant and unwed and underage. OK-deal with it --it takes two parents TWO not one here, too. Her choices have been to be away and leave all the parenting to one parent --the father. That can work --but it DOESN"T APPEAR TO WORK FOR THEM!!!! She is a failure at being a parent. She is the one who knew full well (or at least SHOULD HAVE KNOWN) that her 17 year old was going to be dragged through the mud --and she didn't give a rat's fart. Sorry but that kind of selfishness is BAD parenting, too. She brought up the whole motherhood thing -- as if quantity of children is a measure of good parenting! This tells me she is not the person tomake thoughtful decisions, not the person to weigh consequences and NOT the person I want a heartbeat away from the Presidency of the United States!!

All good points. And, can she separate Church from State. It does not appear so listening to listening to her sermons. I don't want my child saying her prayer because she thinks it's right.

And should we have left Bill Clinton's private life alone? I mean, it is his private life who he chose to screw, right? What about John Edwards? Isnt that his private life? I dont give a care what these people do in their time, just what they do to make a difference while they are at work....

    • Posted By: AskPlus @ 09/03/2008 5:50:38 PM

Checkmate. You can't say we needed to know about Mr. Clinton, then say leave Ms. Palin alone. She knows the media, and she took a step right into the center of it. It was her choice. Her views are the same as GWB's and Mr. McCain's - bad.

I just want to know if Palin has exactly figured out what it is that a VP does in a day's work....:)

Cut the crap Alex. You are representing the problem. Not the solution. With such a ''stellar''lineup as Olbermann,Mitchell,Schuster, and Matthews,[and your reject from the defunct AIR AMERIKA],we do not need your ''Let Us Have Peace''garbage while your people deliver salacious gossip, rather than real news. Preach your gospel to them. Not us.[or not those of us anyway, who are focusing on the issues rather than wasting time defending the Palin family from these tawdry [and quite hypocritical],attacks.

Thank goodness someone got it right !!!! Good article - I neded that. Can we please get back to the issues so I can finally make a decision ???!!!!!!

    Agree! Lets get off the personal stuff, though I applaud the Gov and her daughter both for choosing to protect the lives of their children. But the real issue is indeed her politics: Rejection/Support for the Bridge to Nowhere/Somewhere; the rush to sell off Alaska's (our national) wilderness to oil companies; the membership and or support by herself and spouse of Alaska's seccisonist party; the soaking up of enormous earmarks garnered through lobbyists;

Though I wholeheartedly agree both with the blogger's premise and applaud the decisions by both Sarah and Bristol to protect the lives of their children, its the Gov's politics that the opinionated author should be concerned about: The Bridge to Nowhere Rejection/Support; the Membership/Support of AIP's secessionist platform, earmarks and lobbysists, the easy sale of Alaska's wilderness, no global warming ,mm----======dedendenial,,,,,,Alaska's w

    WOW...

Why isn't anyone pointing out that she was a leader in an independent party that was trying to get Alaska to secede from the Union?

When Mrs. Obama said she was proud of her country for the first time, the republicans jumped all over that questioning her loyalty as an amercian. Seeeet this gal is trying to divide the United States and no one says a word, just focus on the kid...believe me there is a lot more to focus on that is far more damaging and everyone is ignoring the more important things.

Screw her daughter...oops someone already took care of that.

Gov. Palin is attempting to intrude into people's privacy and enact her "values" into law. It is valid to point out the effect her ideas and values have had on her own family. I think if you are going to claim to be some kind of expert on raising children, we have the right to see how your own children turned out. If she doesn't want people to look, she shouldn't go around telling other people how to raise their children.

Bristol Palin only matters as an indicator of her mother's stupidity. If it's felt that teen pregnancies happen generally in families that don't explain God's Plan, then you could argue against sex education, but plainly moral platitudes don't work. Just as plainly, specifics do. An interesting question for Sarah Palin would be, are you happier that you daughter is pregnant than if she'd had sex and not become pregnant?
