Dems can deny all they want who Obama really is - after all his middle name is Hussein - since he is a Muslem - and the people he associates with really demonstrates that! He has always followed leaders who HATED the USA and leaders who cheered on attacks like 9/11 (just like Muslims do) and even worse he was the follower and really close friend of people who helped in these attacks. If Navymomo6 does not want to admit this then just like the rest of the Dems - believe in all the emptiness, lies and bluff Barack Hussein Obama has to offer - go vote to pay more taxes - since you guys like to be poor so you can complain more about your country, dont let our people in uniform fight for the safety of our country since after all you want more attacks to God forbid fall on our country, and ask for the Gov to control more programs (and charge it once again to our taxes) and not receive anything in return since no Gov has in history shown to be able to head programs since its not for them to control its for private companies to run these programs. Obama hates this country so does his wife Michelle they have made it very clear (until they were told to stop) and has absolutely no intentions (b/c he doesnt know how) to imrove anything for our country and so he would be the worst leader in history since he has absolutely nothing to offer let alone any experience in being able to run a country. Btw, Jesus would never have sided with Obama most importantly since Obama believes its ok to kill a newborn baby (he was the ONLY Sen. to vote for that) and Jesus would NEVER EVER agree to that, as well as the Dems have only ever shown hatred to anybody who is not a Dem and even dug so low and degraded yourselves so badly by lying with no shame twisting and turning stories about Republicans - so there, go show me the love Dems have to the world - YOU DONT have any love!!! Republicans are here to improve the country by making it safer for ALL OF US and lower ALL of our taxes etc. - they have great policies, integrity and honesty and will run our country the way it should be. God bless America!

ALL I CAN IS WOW!!!! i CAN'T BELIVE THE HATRED YOU HAVE FOR OTHER PEOPLE. I ALSO FEEL SORRY FOR YOU. MY YOUNGEST SON JUST CAME BACK FROM THE PERISAN GULF TO FIGHT FOR FREEDOM SO YOU CAN TALK ALL THAT HATRED HE LOVES HIS COUNTRY AND WENT TO FIGHT BECAUSE HE DID WHAT HE WAS ASKED TO DO BY HIS COMMANDER AN CHIEF . GUESS WHAT HE WANTS HIS NEW BOSS TO BE OBAMA. HE FEELS THAT THIS ADMINSTATION DID NOT SUPPORT THE TROOPS AND WHEN MCCAIN VOTED AGAINST THE NEW GI BILL THAT WAS THE END OF THAT . ARE YOU GOING TO TELL ME MY SON HATES AMERICA . THIS IS MY SECOND SON THAT HAS FOUGHT FOR THIS COUNTRY AND MY MOM AND DAD WHERE BOTH IN THE NAVY DURING WW11 GUESS WHAT THEY WERE BOTH DEMS!!!! . I AM WAITNG FOR YOU TO TELL ME WE HATE AMERICA BECAUSE WE ARE VOTING FOR OBAMA . YOU REP. THINK YOU ARE THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT LOVE THIS COUTRY GET YOU HEAD OUT FROM THE CAVE YOU LIVE IN

      • Posted By: Texas-conservative @ 09/03/2008 11:29:49 AM

McCain presented his own GI bill with Grahm. McCain opposed the Webb bill because it offered the GI bill to soldiers who didn't re-enlist after 4 years of service, creating an incentive for servicemen to quit the military after 4 years of service. McCain's bill scaled benefits with years of service and attempted to maintain the size of the army, creating an incentive to stay in the military rather than creating an encentive to leave the military.

        • Posted By: navymom06 @ 09/03/2008 12:53:16 PM

What does it matter if they stay in 4 years or more. They have put in 4 years of service for their country. They could be disable or die for their country in 4 years or 2 years or 1 year . They are still fighting for there country.

          • Posted By: Texas-conservative @ 09/03/2008 2:36:08 PM

Because people would be signing up for the military for the wrong reason. Rather than signing up to serve the country, they wold be signing up to do a 4 year stint so they could get a free education. By tying the benefit to tenure, just like the way most corporations operate (401k vesting, vacation days, promotability), there is an incentive to stay in the military. We want career/long-term military personel so that we have an effective force when it is needed., instead of a high turnover rate (churn). Eliminating churn is one of the keys to business success, because training costs a lot more than maintenance of a work force.

With every male member of the family serving in WWII, 11 brother and sisters serving in Viet Nam, 2 sons and three grandsons serving in the Persian Gulf how dare you attack people from either side as UnAmerican? The one thing that all who are active fully agree on is that if Obama became commander and chief of this great nation that they would have a hard time sulating someone that they have absolutely no respect for.

BexHi--Your ignorance and lack of respect for people that are different from you is all to clear in your post. You like to refer to what Jesus would do. Take a look in the mirror. And by the way, I am pretty sure Jesus would not be happy with Mr. Bush causing the death of thousands of innocent Iraqi's in an unjust war. Right to life??? The Republican Party is so two-faced, it is sad. Right to life, but guns used to kill people and animals are OK?? Jesus is not happy with you guys!

Maybe you have something to say that people might want to read, but as soon as you post that "he is a Muslem (sic)" a lot of people stop reading, and I'm not just talking about Obama supporters, because I am not one.

Find a new refrain. There are plenty of them to pick from that are true.

I too have worked all over the U.S. (32 states.) I have worked on nearly every American Indian Reservation in the West.
I have also worked in social programs to help the unfortunate and the poor.
I am blessed with all these experiences. I am a liberal. The character of such people I have worked with was also liberal!
I know what Senator Obama is about-
grass roots organizing from the bottom up. Invest in the nation get people working!

I am bi-lingual, I have lived and worked in Mexico as well.
I wished I spoke more languages, I wished I knew more about why things are they way they are???

Yet I do realize that the American middle class is the great blessing of this country. ???The great story.???

With out a healthy middle class the nation is a shadow of its former self!
Yet the working class has been stiffed for the past 8 years.
The GOP has socialized the debt as they continue to privatize the wealth!

I believe that the middle is where our nation will rediscover its potential! There is little to believe that the nation was managed and run from the middle by the GOP! Their results are indisputable???

The economy is in shambles, lack of vision regarding energy policy, foreign policy is in shambles, lack of political oversight regarding the sub-prime crash, katrina, record federal debt, health care and education in shambles. Lose of home equity and record job loss! I could go on and on???

What is not to understand about this fiasco!
The GOP took our great nation and in eight years ran it into the ground!
This is not subjective hog wash this is the reality we Americans now live in!

No more self-righteous callous conservative rhetoric will save our union- we just had two terms of it!

Senator Barack Obama represents new blood, a turning of the page???
    Intelligence over egocentrism???
    Substance over vanity???
    Union over divisiveness???
    Inclusion over narcissism???

I recently read an article that made me proud!
    Since 1940 the GNP
of our nation was 15% higher during liberal presidencies than conservative!
Obama will be a great president! He???s all apple pie with a little chocolate pudding on the side!

    • Posted By: Senator Snort @ 09/03/2008 10:57:21 AM

seems, to me, the present President of U.S.A. and his administration have not demonstrated the ability to run this country the way Americans of both parties, now, feel it needs to be run..though many had doubts during his first term, he was given another go round allowing him to prove he had what it takes to do the job the second time at bat..but..a palpable trouble came, slowly, knocking right on Americans' front door; the trouble and strife that Americans thought could never experience because of our status quo 'ante'..now delusionment and disappointment, now actually, an acutely painful decline of quality of life for many 'average' working citizens of both parties, perpetuated during this administration..so Americans began to seriously think..think that somebody could do better the job of running this country..such is the state of the quality of life that Americans nominated a viable woman for POTUS, and that a viable half white man won the (D) nomination for POTUS..no matter the Republican or Democratic outcome of this election, they succeeded at proving that the people of this country do not accept the status quo ending these last eight years..something's got to give..America, for which we stand..

What did the Republican Party do when they were in power?

    The Republicans want to change?

The GOP is moving on from what?

They have yet to admit any mistakes so, why do they need to hide from the last 8 years?

Did the White House make mistakes? Is that why Bush and Cheney can???t be seen at any McCain/Republican events? Not even at the Republican National Convention?

Is the Republican Party John McCain???s now?

What do the Republicans do to "move forward"?

Which way were Republicans moving our country before?

    • Posted By: AskPlus @ 09/03/2008 3:05:03 PM

Im a POW and she's the first female Republican nominee. YOU can't touch this. Did I say female? If you say anything wrong to us we will cry very loud. You can't touch this. Hammer time!!

How does John McCain gets to decide when enough is enough? This could go on for three more months and it will , until we get some answers!!

I would have given every one of the speakers an 'A" . Messages were given with sincerity, honesty, patriotism, and passion. They resonated with me on a deep emotional level and held my attention from start of the convention tonight until the very end. To Thompson I give and A+. Excellent speech!

Oh sure maybe if America had befriended Bin Laden and ignored terrorist threads (which they were ignored by Clinton ) 9/11 would have never happened. Give me a break!!!!!

    • Posted By: spicegirl @ 09/03/2008 1:39:20 AM

Yawn, yawn, we all have our standards. I was watching the crowd and I was not the only person yawning. Thompson deserves a B+ and Laura Bush a B for being a genuine and supportive wife. I like her. LIEberman deserves an E.

      • Posted By: mholmes @ 09/03/2008 2:34:03 AM

Lieberman deserves an A+ just for stating the facts as he sees them. As a long-serving member of Congress (unlike Obama), he has seen the endless debate over issues that is attributable to party line pressure. We need our politicians to work together to make America better on a daily basis, not waiting around for another 9/11 or Pearl Harbor type of event to galvanize the country into a cooperative whole that can accomplish any task set before it. The first step in the correct direction would be the "line item veto" and a President who would wield that power evenly across the board. CUT THE PORK!

        • Posted By: spicegirl @ 09/03/2008 3:11:49 AM

When it comes to pork I will leave that to you. My greatest concern with your party is you all seem to see everything through war, rumors of war or terrorism tinted glasses. You CANNOT progress if you are constantly at war. Got that! Why are you people so obsessed with war? Or is it just John McCain and you have all caught the fever? ???You can destroy your enemies by making friends of them??? ever heard about that? And dont tell me I am being naïve because this is the first route to take and when all else fails then you war, plus it is more economical, but then again when I mention the economy you guys don???t have a clue as to what I am talking about do you/

  • Posted By: elouis @ 09/03/2008 10:30:01 AM

If McCain's story as a POW were really important to this contry, there would be no veterans without jobs, health care or living in the streets homeless. Is McCain's military service more important than any other American? Of course not. McCain is using this story to gain political advantage to the shame of the Republican party! Where is his knowlegde of economics? Where is his demonstarted ability to organize and bring people together? Where is his good judgment, considering the current war, health care for all Americans, and most recently his VP selection? Just watch him and you will se some serious leadership problems that I hope don't become the leadership problems of America for the next eight years! America is not ready for for or more years of McCain/Bush/Conservative Republicans!

The "young" Mr. McCain was a person of privilege. He gained entrance to Annapolis, and to the flight program on the influence and orders of his father, not because of his choice or merit. His story is one of someone who played the cards he was dealt. I see nothing any more or less heroic in his story than any of the other soldiers who fought and died or fought and lived. I believe that the fact of his suffering is one that deserves our respect, it in no way grants any additional judgement or qualification for commander in chief. To the contrary, his support for placing his brothers in arms in harms way in Iraq, where there is no clear benefit to our country would suggest the opposite.

There is a clear benefit, now that we are there, to making sure we leave a secure and stable Iraq when we exit the theater -- and BTW, I did NOT support the invasion of Iraq, one of the few who was speaking out against it in letters to the editor, etc.

We can not afford to leave a political power vacuum in the area. That would only help terrorists. We can not afford to allow an ongoing civil war to continue or to leave a government that is too weak to address terrorist activities. We got out of Afghanistan too early after supporting their efforts against the USSR, and should have learned some lessons from that experience.

Interestingly, Obama even admits that we need a continued presence in Iraq long beyond 2009. Here are some quotes from Obama:

"We need to focus our attention on how to reduce the U.S. military footprint in Iraq. Notice I say reduce' and not 'fully withdraw.'" Barack Obama, Nov. 22, 2005

"I believe that we should have all our troops out [of Iraq] by 2013 but I don???t want to make promises." Barack Obama, Sep. 26, 2007

Joe Lieberman is disloyal, traitorous politician who has little credibility in my eyes due to the fact that he himself proclaims that he disagrees with McCain 's position on over 90% of issues. He came across as completely disingenuous , looks and sounds like a weasel , and has proven himself to be the "Fredo" of this presidential campaign. The Republican delegates were looking at him in th back of there minds thinking 'We can't trust this guy'.......If I were Obama I would not forget Liberman's rhetoric anytime soon

He is also a liar. He stated lastnight in his speech that he is a Democrat, but he won election as an independant.

      • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 09/03/2008 11:35:16 AM

He is a democrat, and the democrats needed him to achieve a majority in the Senate, which shifted the power into their hands to set the agenda, establish the rules, and move bills to a vote.

The democrats were stupid to oppose him in his reelection just because of his position on the war in Iraq. It may be a telling example of why Obama's position on Iraq won't get him as many votes as he expects in the GE.

    • Posted By: BexHi @ 09/03/2008 11:30:49 AM

Obama seems to forget anything anyone says about him - look who he chose as running mate - a person who bashed everything about him only a year ago!

these republicans started a hugely unpopular and expensive war costing this country trillions?!! how can we support more of this? they still offer no way to pay for any of it and want to give more tax breaks to the rich who can hide most of their money without help. i don't get it. are republicans that blind? or is abortion so important they would ruin their own country to keep a woman fromhaving one?

    • Posted By: cajan @ 09/03/2008 2:00:03 PM

Guess I missed the Republicans as they attacked the World Trade Center. I am democratic and how I plan to vote is my choice, but I do have the God granted intellegence to first get real facts and not fiction from someone who hasn't researched diddly.

    • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 09/03/2008 11:13:58 AM

I guess you would support the legislation the democrats are pushing now, the labor bill that will eliminate secret ballots?

Sounds like Russia, making the way people vote public knowledge.

    • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 09/03/2008 9:23:22 AM

And so you want to put a socialist into office who wants to transfer wealth from the rich to the poor and cripple our economy in order to punish the Republicans?

In case you forgot, an overwhelming majority of Americans supported the war in Iraq, republicans and democrats.

We need to look forward, we need to reform government, not take it to the opposite extreme. McCain has shown that he will stand up to BOTH parties and take his own course when it is the right thing to do.

Obama has done nothing but toe the party line, serve the special interests that are funding his campaign, and use the very system he claims he wants to change to his advantage. Obama is in it for himself, and those who support him because of the historic nature of this campaign are voting for the color of his skin, not his positions on the issues.

If John McCain is such a Maverick and rebel against the government machine, why didn???t he pick the V.P. that he wanted? Can anyone out there tell me that Palin won McCain over in one meeting that he thought she would be a better running mate that Ridge or Lieberman??? At least Obama buck the political party noise-makers and chose for himself versus appease a special interest group.

Do not be mistaken, Palin was placed there for a reason. Not because she is a woman. Not because she is a way right conservative. Because, she will help open the wildlife preserves in Alaska. If you will note that ever since Palin was nominated, statements centered around drilling in Alaska???s national wildlife preserves have increased. Republicans are sliding it in very slightly through their call for more domestic drilling. Wasn???t McCain against this? Isn???t Palin for it? Wouldn???t it rake in an abundant amount of money for Big Oil and Alaska? Isn???t BIG Oil BIG contributors to the Republican Party? She may have the some skills to be V.P., but that is the reason she was on the short list from the beginning. McCain had to compromise somewhere to get the Republican Party squarely behind him. What a maverick!!!

Lastly, where is V.P. Cheney? What? He wasn???t invited to the Republican Convention? If he is there (or at the White House concerned about all the displaced people from Hurricane Gustav???sarcasm), he doesn???t get much air time. If he even gives a speech, you don???t see or hear a word from him. He hasn???t weighed in on either side to my knowledge. Maybe, I???m missing his media coverage. Or, that is a point that no one is talking about.

THIS IS VERY DISTURBING??? DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE BUSH WILL INVITE YOU TO HIS
100 000 ACRE RANCH IN PARAGUAY WHEN THIS COUNTRY COLLAPES?? YOU BETTER FORWARD THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW!
personal, individual, independent life begins at birth. Until that event, the fetus is not an independent person. It is physically attached to an independent, self-viable human being in order to sustain it. The independent and viable human being, the mother, with all her rights as a citizen in a free society, has the right to make decisions refarding her own body and its processes, including pregnancy. Until the fetus is viable and able to sustain independent life as an individual, the decision on its termination rests with the mother. That is just.
That is the wisdom of the law of this land, The United States of America, in Roe v. Wade. The misrepresentations and theologiical quotes do not belong in the forum of society based on reason and not on falsehoods or ancient and foreign superstitious doctrine. As in all other issues, the Republicans and conservative intend on destroying America with foreign influences, be they financial, as in the alliances with nonAmerican plutocrats from communist China to the princes of the suadi royal family. The American economy can shrivel and die as far as they're concerned, especially the labor unions whom the Republican party has persecuted for over a century, as long as the global economy and every person with anything less than unshakably stalwart and self-perpetuating independent wealth has been enslaved. That is the elitism they the Republicans embrace and solely represent.
They don't care a thing about this country, except that it can be sucked dry. As the the fascists did in the Republics of Germany, Spain, Italy, and Japan. These antiAmerican movements are the model for this "neo"conservative Republican party. Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan were worse for America than Lenin or Stalin, because they were able to do effect their corruption of this country from the inside. bush is a continuation of this effort for moral, economic, political, governmental decay. Fred Thompson, the professional liar, the professional fraud, the mal-actor. Accused others of feeling the need the need to apologize for America. That is a lie. The liberals ad progressives feel no need to apologize for America. The conservatives and Republicans are not America. They are liars and traitors and desire to destroy America. It is the conservatives and Republicans and Fred Thompson, if they have any shred of decency or shame left in them, to apologize and answer for being the enemies of a free and prospersoud America. Rev. Jeremiah Wright's damnation was misplace. Every freedom-loving patriotic American should condemn the conservatives and their insurrectionist party, the Republican party. to the hottest, darkest and foulest corner of any hell that might exist.

I am not sure the word estranged is appropriate. Maybe ashamed would be better. Ashamed of thier lies, ashamed of thier lowlife tactics, and ashamed that they would send anyone up for nomination that had a total lack of experience, that the media because of bios would not question his lack of anythingand ashamed that the party has lowered it's standards from the quality standards from the JFK days to that of a scandel sheet today.

Doesn't matter anyway. After the election is over it will be Obama as president.

My favorite line of the night was the point that Democrats say they want to raise taxes, but not on your family, only on businesses.........and their tax increase won't effect your family at all.......as long as you don't buy anything like food, clothes, or gas....from a business........and as long as your paycheck doesn't come from a business, large or small. It won't effect your family at all.

Concerning the questions of Palin and how good a mother she can be while serving as VP.........why aren't these same people asking that same question of Obama? Obama has small children....how well can he serve the role as their father......if he is elected president?

The desperation coming from the media and Democrats today couldn't be more obvious. Democrats had difficulty finding a pastor to give the opening prayer of their convention, because very few pastors wanted to be seen at the democratic convention...........while democratic leaders willingly come to the republican convention and endorce the republican canidate............what a contrast!

Gee, how good is Palin as a Mother? 17 year old daugter getting preganant. We always ask the question, "Do you know where your children are? Did Palin know?

Apparently she was too busy trying to get her ex-brother-in-law fired while her daughter was getting it on.

Isn't it you Republican holier than thou that believe the mother raises the children and the husband is the head of the household so he goes to work. Obama's wife will make sure his children are well taken care of. That's more than we can say for Gov. Palin, the nanny and her drunken husband are raising her children, no wonder the girl is pregnant.

To your point on taxes. You imply that somehow eliminating tax breaks for business will have disastrous effects on the family... You ignore history. The republican version of supply-side economics has shown to produce the opposite effect intended. If you accept standard-of-living as the most meaningful measure of economic prosperity, the supply-side approach has taken us from world class to nearly third-world in a matter of 8 short years.

They can not, but more importantly - will not - help. History is history. People keep forgetting where we are now and how we got here.

My favorite part is when the GOP talks about slashing taxes (for the wealthy and large corporations) and the sheep actaully think it's going to help them. My other favorite part is how we can slash taxes and continue to pay for a war we started. The GOP will raise taxes on you unless your name happens to be Exxon/Mobil.

And Palin can't even keep tabs on her daughter now, how is she going to manage both the responsibilities of VP and 5 kids, one with special needs, and a granddaughter? Oh yeah, she super hocky mom.

And the desperation is seeping out of the GOP --yeah, they had a former Dem there -- the Judas Goat backstabber who most dems are glad to be rid of! And let's see, oh yeah that guy from TV. Someone to make people forget this is a real show. Nothing but anger and hate once again from the right.
