"Fred Thompson's Nacoleptic performance"....were you on AMBIEN when you watched the convention and when you wrote this POS?
Blatant bias from Newsweek who has already elected Obama POTUS.
I think Newsweek needs to add a disclaimer above these articles that says "ADVERTISEMENT" just like other publications have to do when an advertisement is formated to resemble actual news.

loriw, you can't make it through an hour without Newsweek and CNN. Completely beyond your power to control your addiction.

After countless accolades from Dems re McCain's service to country (and that not being reason enough to elect the man president,) the GOP swipes last night felt all the more panicky. Patriotism and love of country are not partisan.

Country First? More like China first, India first, Mexico first or Big Business first.
How stupid do they think Americans are?

McCain???s desperate selection just solidifies my original prediction... Obama by a landslide.

Not that I have anything against Palin, whoever she is, but, rather, McCain knows he is on the downslide, and had to gamble. I would have more respect for McCain if he selected Tom Ridge (I thought FOR SURE he would have picked him). Yes, McCain would have had a slight problem because Ridge ran as a pro-choice Republican candidate for Governor of PA (which he won). But Ridge would have at least given McCain a chance in PA, a key battleground state. Plus Ridge was the first Secretary of Homeland Security.

    Congratulations President Obama!

This is as good a pick as Harriet Meirs was...

The GOP's 'country first' strategy went down the tubes when Senator McCain went to 'getting elected first' by making the reckless choice for Governor Palin as a gimmick to attract the female vote..

Democrats are no good at Heartland. Sure, they've got Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer, who lit up last week's convention by sounding like an actual human being.... ok that was just wrong. though i thought last night was so dry and embarrasing for what the repubs are up against. that 'convention' made the dems look current, palpable, and much more electable. and does mccain have anyhting else besides his war record? i mean come on. can we get a new theme?

What did the Republican Party do when they were in power?

    The Republicans want to change?

The GOP is moving on from what?

They have yet to admit any mistakes so, why do they need to hide from the last 8 years?

Did the White House make mistakes? Is that why Bush and Cheney can???t be seen at any McCain/Republican events? Not even at the Republican National Convention?

Is the Republican Party John McCain???s now?

What do the Republicans do to "move forward"?

Which way were Republicans moving our country before?

If you spoke fluent Heartland you could have mentioned thirty pieces of silver when you described Lieberman's speech. It would be complete overkill and tasteless but it would have been fluent heartland.
