John McCain embarks on his final drive for the White House Thursday night, accepting the Republican presidential nomination and addressing the party's national convention from a stage that workers were hastily rebuilding to fit his "town hall" approach.

Elsewhere, on the final day of the convention, a lot of the talk was still about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the vice presidential nominee who gave her big introductory speech Wednesday night, less than a week after being chosen for the ticket.

McCain's wife, Cindy, suggested in one interview that she doesn't agree with Palin's support for a nearly total ban on abortions.

And Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden declared that some news coverage of his Republican counterpart had been sexist.

Parts of the platform at the Xcel Energy Center were removed by construction workers on Thursday to bring delegates closer to where McCain will give his acceptance speech, giving the stage a T-shape. Organizers said the change reflected the town hall-type forums in which McCain has campaigned.

"The extended podium will serve as a fitting complement to John McCain's preference for direct interaction with his fellow citizens," said Maria Cino, a convention official.

Palin religiously believes that these are the "end times." So she is okay with American or the world being distroyed, because Christians will go to heaven.

Obviously, Palin will not keep us safe from terrorism.

    Think this over.

The McCain camp rolled out their vp so poorly. What did they think would happen when they introduced a complete unknown to the country and asked us to accept her as vice president. Then, instead of acknowledging they screwed (which of course would never), they blame the media for being curious and demanding answers to serious questions. We have watched all these candidates for almost two years tell us how they would improve the country. What has she said? Virtually nothing. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Oh how sweet, Grandpa John is doleing out hugs and kisses to the Palin children. Look, and he even brought birthday cards.... oh wait, those are the "excutive experience" and "gender" card.
How about we actually hear from the campaign about something other than Jesus, guns, gays, babies, and "stop picking on our girl!!" sexism. Last I checked, there are half a dozen issues that rated as more important to the nation in this election. I dont care that shes woman, or that her daughter is pregnant, or that she has an infant with special needs of her own; i care about her complete lack of any stated policy opinions on anything but conservative wedge issues. Give me something other than hurried up talking points, and human intrest stories for christs sake. Thats the problem, not even the Republican pundits can give exact accomplishments or qualifications, only vauge generalities.
