If we go nuclear, She is not someone I would want backing McCain. At least Obama has good judgement and sense to leave us in good hands. She is not qualified, there are more better qualified republicaqn women. Of course she would do fine. They had her sequestered practicing. What other outcome would you expect? The McCain camp will trot her around, and not let the press get to her and ask real questions. They will have the Republican media interview her, then say see she has done interviews. They already seeded the plant the media is against her. He is playing the country period. And in these times, do you really need another 4 years of the cowboy/flyboy mentality, and letting someone play you.

RUDY'S BEST LINE WAS !! OBAMA FLIP FLOPS SO MUCH IF I WERE JOE BIDEN I'D GET THAT V.P. THING IN WRITING ! lmfao

Rudy's should know best about flip flops, so its easy for him to identify such action.

Okay, I now saw the speech. I was impressed 5 days ago when she was introduced. Today, I saw a coached person, speaking someone else's lines.

I did like her in some bits, though. When she spoke about her family, her energy and warmth shone through. Also, parts of where she bad-mouthed Obama, her eyes didn't back up the words. Allowed me to continue to like her.

Curiosity satisfied. Need for drama sated. Back to the issues, and the true path-breakers: Obama-Biden.

BTW, have you guys noticed: Obama stakes out new ground, and the others follow? McCain can't get enough of "Change" now. Obama insists on a timetable for Iraq, a few months later, Iraq asks for one, and Bush agrees to one.

    • Posted By: atinairene @ 09/04/2008 2:36:25 PM

There is no other way McCain will have it , she will be speaking someones else line for a long time, She is a Token, whether we like the sounds of it or not. A Republican can take a hot dog and make any thing out of it, to satisfy your wants, as long as HE is in control. He works with the mind, and gets your vote, a Democrat still attentive to the heart .

Harley, nothing could be as dumbed down as Dennis Miller, Miller even sounds like Pat Robertson.

The Repug's say that "WE Need Someone that can guide us in these very critical times, DUH. Who does the American people think got us into this mess in the first place. l cannot imagine a more terrifying thing than to have a deranged 72 year old man and an angry soccer Mom in The White House. God in Heaven I hope people are not stupid to vote him in.

See what America thinks - Only 9 weeks left until the election!

America is not thinking , McCain is aware, we are desperate peoplet, while we are occupy with the social issues that plaguing our nation, and blaming HOLLYWOOD for the past years ,the moving truck from Alaska is on their way to Washington to be the greatest example of how to maintain the social plague, don't worry parents, your t.v.,music,videos is not the influence anymore,is the one you VOTE for.

She struck me as an arrogant, cocky and self-righteous Christian Fundamentalist, something the kooks and crooks crowd that rules the Republican party for the last 8 years frequently has put on display. I look forward to the time when she will have to defend her positions on the accumulating debt and death of the last 8 years, being anti-choice, anti-contraception (something that apparently might have helped her 17 yr. old daughter rather than preaching "abstinence") and anti-equal pay for equal work between men and women. I relish the prospect of voters getting to know her position in these important areas rather than her being the PTA president of Wasilla City.

Here's what Ms. Palin said in her emails that "didn't" prove she tried to get her sister's ex fired.

"This trooper is still out on the street, in fact he's been promoted," said a Feb. 7, 2007, e-mail sent from Palin's personal Yahoo account.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/03/AR2008090303210.html?sub=new

It's damning but falls in line with her little Alaskan soap opera.

  • Posted By: thehappyamerican @ 09/04/2008 9:02:49 AM

Now Hillary sees she might hunt down a good man and get a recipe for moose!

    Sarah....
When you debate Biden remember to let him have a chance to try to sound intellectual and he'll say something stupid!!! This guy is educated but not very smart!

  • Posted By: rwe@unh.edu @ 09/03/2008 7:50:34 PM

Thin resume, Mr. Fineman? Barack Obama aspires to be president, not VP, even though he has had zero executive experience. He has been a community organizer in Chicago, tied to the Daley political machine. Sarah Palin has run a family business, been a mayor and been the governor of state. Why is the press so forgiving of Obama's lack of experience but so quick to shred Gov. Palin's resume. I can only conclude that the media prefer a leftist African-American male over a conservative woman. Ideology, not qualifications, are the decisive factor for liberal bloggers and pundits.

    • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 09/03/2008 7:53:35 PM

Because he's extremely smart and has been vetted by a grueling primary process. Simple as that. His intellectual credentials go beyond a degree in sports journalism. Far beyond.

      • Posted By: Tenacious Moses @ 09/04/2008 7:17:40 AM

Ahh yes, that intellectual superiority. Did MENSA vet him? And those published law reviews of his? Or any other meaningful work other than a biography?

    • Posted By: rube @ 09/03/2008 8:08:36 PM

Your comment about Obama's thin resume gave me the thought!
How many times did I metion to conservatives about Bush's lack of a full resume?
Dozens of times! Yet conservatives voted for him despite the fact he had piles of bagage regarding his career! You voted for Bush twice and you still dont get it- its about dignity, humanity, intelligence-these are significant to run a country and the GOP has proved for 8 years now they are incapable of such character!

    • Posted By: rube @ 09/03/2008 7:54:18 PM

Its Mccain inability to pick a qualified VP and a GOP economy sliding from under our feet that is the issue here bub! Your the one making it Palin!

  • Posted By: Diahni @ 09/03/2008 8:00:53 PM

Pointing out that this poorly educated, provincial woman knows how to dress a moose is exactly what Peggy Noonan and Mike Murphy unknowingly discussed in front of an open mike. It is distressing to me that a middle aged woman with a certain amount of money never had a passport until last year, and equally telling she hasn't even bothered to visit the lower 48. We've had eight years with a doofus in the white house. This is outrageous.

    • Posted By: jimbo3800 @ 09/03/2008 8:35:48 PM

What is really outrageous is that you forgot the most important thing; Palin is hot!

      Finally, a VPILF.

      • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 09/03/2008 8:50:23 PM

She's attractive for her age. However, she's got to ditch those pretentious glasses.

Personally, I'd rather do Michelle Obama, a future FLILF.

        • Posted By: Tenacious Moses @ 09/04/2008 7:13:56 AM

Oooooo, sorry. Michelle does not do Johnsons. Your ears are not big enough.

Do you really think Palin can't give a speec h? Of course she can. The Republicans have been coaching, preening her, accusing the media of savaging her, blah, blah, blah. I sure she will well deliver her speech, which will be the best that money can buy. We're going to see a tricked out soccer mom playing like she knows what she is doing. I will not watch her. The fact that she is embroiled in several scandals involving abuse of power, has mislead the public about hating earmarks, tried to impose censorship in the library of her town while she was mayor, has been a member of a secessionist organization speaks volumes about her. There is nothing she can say that will lead me to think that she is a good VP choice. McCain has failed his first test. He let the religious right vet Ms. Palin because he is going to follow the same route as Bush. Suck up to religious right, shape his strategy to please them and his wealthy coterie.

    • Posted By: callmehandy64 @ 09/03/2008 8:29:45 PM

It's ridiculous to think that palin can't give a speech. How do you think she got to be governor? How do you think she did her job on television for 2 years? I think a lot of people are going to be really surprised at how well she will do.

      • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 09/03/2008 8:37:25 PM

If I want the sports scores, then I'd love to hear from her.

Giving a speech is not just reading words. The audience has to believe that the person speaking believes the things they are saying. Since she professed knowing little about foreign policy until just a few days ago, anything in the speech on that subject can only be her simply parroting the McCain campaign's words. The audience will be able to see that.

        • Posted By: Tenacious Moses @ 09/04/2008 7:11:51 AM

Then by all means watch the Cartoon Network like you usually do and be sure to eat lots of protein so you don't become woozy at the next Obama speech. Do you get a tingle up your leg?

  • Posted By: Novasucuts @ 09/04/2008 6:50:27 AM

    Hi ...

(It remains to be seen what she can do on the campaign trail without a teleprompter and speech writer.)

This wasn't a speech it was channeling Karl Rove. Remember his famous quote in Newsweek? "We don't want to just win. We want to destrory our opponents." Well guess what? The American voters aren't buying this crap anymore. Fineman seemed to like "The Pitbull with Lipstick" so when her voting record is opened to the voters I hope she can handle the heat. When you have nothing to offer you have to attack. The problem with that tactic is when the attacks are LIES, it backfires. It won't take two seconds for the bloggers to open this "Pitbull's" record and peel it like a orange. Welcome to the real world Ms. Pitbull and don't forget the lipstick.......

  • Posted By: G.R.I.T.S. @ 09/04/2008 5:21:42 AM

This wasn't a speech. This was Palin channeling Karl Rove. Rove's famous quote,"We don't want to just beatour opponent, we want to destory them." Well guess what the American voters aren't buying this crap anymore! The scorched earth brand of politics is what got us into this mess and it sure as hell isn't going to get us out. Fineman liked Ms. "Pitbull with Lipstick" but the moderate republicans and independents aren't going to buy it and guess what? The maverick and the pitbull can't win with just the far right who laps up this type of destructive rhetoric .

"josemarti" He is the scum that collects at the bottom of a pot after boiling the poison of Malcolm X, Fanon, Sartre, Marcuse, Garvey, Ellison, Wright, Dubois, and Marx.

You are the lying racist scum that collects on the bottom of a toilet.

    • Posted By: josemarti @ 09/03/2008 8:44:40 PM

No my friend. The racist is his pastor Reverend Wright who believes that there are basic neurobiological differences between whites and and blacks. The racist was Malcolm X The racist was Fanon who called for and delighted in the massacre of whites.

You are citing history you know nothing about and wouldn't understand had you read it all. Please try to stay on topic. The subject is the incredibly high suck factor on the Palin nomination.

      • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 09/03/2008 8:46:05 PM

Ho hum. Racists aren't going to vote for Obama. Tell us something we don't know.

  • Posted By: DP2008 @ 09/03/2008 8:34:38 PM

Sarah Palin will be trying to prove that she is more experienced than Barack Obama, which to me is quite pathetic. There is no comparison to this brilliant, well educated man, who has earned his law degree from Harvard in 1991, where he became the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. He returned to Chicago to practice as a civil rights lawyer and teach constitutional law. His advocacy work led him to run for the Illinois State Senate, where he served for eight years. Obama has done much more in has career than community organizing and running a campaign. Running the exceptional campaign in itself is more than Sarah Palin has done in her lifetime. http://www.barackobama.com/learn/meet_barack.php

    • Posted By: ginamlaster @ 09/04/2008 4:07:10 AM

Exactly. And a constitutional scholar is what we're going to need to put our Constitution back together again after the Bush administration dismantled it. Add to his brilliance the fact that he has rolled up his sleeves and worked with actual poor people in economically-devastated communities. This is someone who lives like normal people do. A man who's pumped his own gas and bought his own groceries in the last ten years. Someone who knows it's not whining to spend $40.00 and come home with only one bag of food.

    • Posted By: AznElite @ 09/03/2008 11:24:48 PM

Very good, facts are what some of these naive Palin supporters need, these republicans are brainwash by the use of the word "Conservative" in the end. Support a woman whom should be worrying about her own domestic problems by first caring for her ill 5 month baby, and worrying about helping her daughter raise a baby and finish up high school BEFORE getting married. Where are her priorities? Where are her family values? She's going to expect a immature 18 year old boy to care for her teenage daughter and her grandbaby when he is a kid himself?

    • Posted By: poor on a living wage @ 09/03/2008 10:04:09 PM

To DP2008: Very good, thank you!

  • Posted By: green_surfer @ 09/03/2008 10:06:24 PM

Who knew Obama? Remeber, she is running for vice president and Obama is running for the presidency. Nonetheless...If she were number one on the ticket, her executive experience would still FAR outweigh his lack of any tangible leadership/executive experience and better qualify Palin to lead this fine country.

    • Posted By: AznElite @ 09/03/2008 10:50:30 PM

Executive experience? you must be inhaling something. Palin has less then two years of Congressional experience far less then Obama. Palin on leadership? Possibly when pressuring oil companies for royalties on oil drilling and distributing $1100 to each resident of Alaska rather then using that money to build the Alaskan infrastructure, money which may have been used to improve Wasilla's sewage system. Palin vs. Obama in education. Palin has a BS degree in communication journalism from University fo Idaho. Obama has a BS degree in Political Science from Columbia University and a Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law. "FAR outweigh his lack of tangible.." , Yeah get your information straight and you will realize the better nomination.

      • Posted By: ginamlaster @ 09/04/2008 3:49:56 AM

Thank you. Would somebody PLEASE tell me what is so wrong about having someone who's certifiably brilliant, a constitutional scholar, and a graduate of two of our nation's finest universities as our president? Is the black thing really that tough to take that America would rather pick her next VP from Alaskan trailer park society?

    imPalin??? Democracy
The one question I had tonight regarding Palin???s credentials for VP was ???Can Sarah Palin kill a Moose???? That important question was answered tonight by many commentators. I can finally rest now knowing that America and the Democratic nominee are safe - Apparently Palin can kill a speech as quickly as any wildlife roaming Alaska or Minnesota.

On a serious note -So far by the looks of this convention ??? the Republicans would have trouble just trying to change a flat tire. Giuliani had the best speech, but while it was amusing it had to many cheap punch lines. As for Palin, while it was at least a positive sign that she could complete a memorized speech, her delivery was pointed and contemptuous. If there was one thing she said that summed up her character it was her joke about ???What???s the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? ??? - Lipstick.???. While being tough is a good quality, as a VP or President, being tough without using good diplomacy is belligerent and potentially disastrous. Palin???s delivery, words and facial expression exhibit an inexperienced pit bull indeed. Sure we need tough leaders ??? but even a two year old can say ???No???. We need leaders who can make tough decisions, and yet converse in ways to create/maintain allies, resulting in a ???Yes, we can ??? if we work together??? mentality. After all, war and violence have been around since the beginning of time. Aren???t there any new ideas or alternatives left in the world that we can try? McCain is a real Patriot and Soldier for certain, but the McCain/Palin ticket is not the voice we need right now. And, if I can take a second to step onto a bigger soapbox ??? please Republican party stop using the word ???Maverick???. Enough already! If you mean Maverick as described in The George Bush???s Republican Dictionary, than you mean it as praise for a person who abuses power and overrides the Constitution. That kind of ???Maverick??? and anyone who votes the same as Bush, 90% of the time, costs us (and the world) too much. All this talk about winning the war -what exactly have we won from this war? We invaded a country that had NOTHING to do with 9/11. Apparently, it needs to be broken down for many of us in a context we care about and understand -Take Fast Food for example: Would we sue Starbucks over a spilled cup of coffee we bought at McDonald???s? Oh wait???many of us probably would try that. hmmm???

Everyone speaking at this convention is either in complete denial or completely deceitful. The lack of accountability is astounding. Really, they should be ashamed. They act as if the past 8 years didn???t exist. Luckily, I???m preaching to the choir if all those empty seats are a sign!
