Bet you have never met a woman like her Fineman. Won't find her on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Won't find her in Washington D.C. Won't find her in the Gold Coast of Chicago. Gotta go into the heart of America Howard. She is a strange creature to you, is she not Fineman? She is noble and you are a slave. But the contempt you feel for her hardly compares to the contempt we feel for your "resentful" types. Nietzsche taught us how to recognize your type.
PALIN?????????
1) Palin was a member of the Alaskan Independence Party. They want Alaska to break away from the rest of the nation. She said ???am Alaskan not American???
2) She's an inexperienced, closed-minded conservative (NOT what this country needs). Hardcore right wing extremist. She said ???Iraq a task from God???
3) I can't respect a woman who would take abortion rights away from women.
4) She is in the tank with Bush/McCain/Cheney
5) She is under Federal investigation
6) See how McCain vetted her http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RN5xbWtNSU

Palin boosts a 80% apporval rating. I guess she isn't qualified after all. LMAO I can't remember the last time a Democrat held an approval rating that high. Must be a requirement for politicians to not give 2 shyts about the people they're supposed to be representing. 80% WOW Sign me up!
Palin. Starting next week in Boyne Michigan and finishing eight weeks later in the suburbs of Philadelphia march through Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Inspire us. Motivate us. Reconnect us with the spirit of Roosevelt, and Reagan.
Democrats talk at the Denver convention about creating and keeping American jobs. Ironically the building that housed the largest research and development division of Arco Oil Company in Texas was sold by British Petroleum to Perot Systems and now serves as its headquarters. Perot Systems was founded by Ross Perot who previously created EDS Electronic Data Systems and who most importantly has been credited with throwing the 1992 Presidential election to Bill Clinton by drawing off many independent voters who would have voted Republican for George Bush senior. Perot Systems derives a significant amount of its business from state and federal contracts. A building that used to house American engineers, geologists, scientists, logistics people and ordinary employees who worked for an American owned oil company that strived to fill the gas tank for the average American now houses a company that focuses on giving computer support on state and the federal government social service contracts. This is the Democratic Party version of a success story. Outsourced government work under Bill Clinton replaces a former American owned world admired jewell of the oil industry that had provided gas for the American gas tank and many good American jobs for many years. So if you need reasonably price gas for your car, contact Bill Clinton and Perot Systems and ask them to give you a gallon of gas. This is the Democratic version of a success story, outsourced government work replacing a real American owned company that produced a real needed product at a reasonable price for the average American household.
John McCain picked Governor Sarah Palin because he intends to follow through and make his Project Lexington for United States energy independence the chief dominant issue in this campaign. Governor Sarah Palin is a strong supporter of increased offshore drilling and she knows that Alaska has an offshore coastline greater than the rest of the country combined and is also comes in second among the states in oil production. Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and John McCain understand that Obama and the Democrats would never consider government loan guarantees or tax breaks for a sure thing that will produce energy for the American gas tank. In fact Democrats are trying to put together a so-called windfall profits tax which will have the effect of discouraging future investment in the United States oil industry. Democrat loan guarantees and earmarks are only reserved for off the wall improbable future technologies such as hydrogen power that offer no short term chance of solution for our energy problems. Democratic disdain for energy production by US companies is evident with the current ownership of former US energy companies. Is it any surprise that the jewell Arco Oil Company which owned 80 percent of our Alaska Oil Reserves was bought out by British Petroleum Corporation at the end of the second administration of Bill Clinton due to the hostile Democratic attitude toward energy companies. Under the proper business environment and with the support of both parties, Arco Oil Company should have taken over British Petroleum instead of British Petroleum taking over Arco Oil Company. It is no accident that the largest US builder of nuclear power plants, Westinghouse Nuclear Power Construction Division was bought out by Toshiba Corporation of Japan. While 80 percent of France electricity is generated by nuclear power, only twenty percent in the US is generated due to the successful efforts of Democratic party to kill the US nuclear power industry. Significantly, nuclear power is not considered a mainstay of Democratic plans to address our energy crisis. There is also a worldwide shortage and backlog of orders for oil drilling platforms and oil drilling ships but US shipyards are not building these ships. Only one percent of the world's commercial ships are built in US shipyards. Hold your breath for the Democratic outcry and push for government help to US ship builders to build oil drilling ships in the US.

In fact Democrats are trying to put together a so-called windfall profits tax which will have the effect of discouraging future investment in the United States oil industry. John McCain also knows that Governor Sarah Palin family situation also illustrates that longterm Democratic leadership hostility and policies toward United States owned energy companies have caused our current energy crisis. Her husband who works for British Petroleum should be working for the former American owned Arco Oil Company. Arco Oil Company developed and explored the Alaska North Slope and formerly owned eighty percent of our proven Alaskan reserves. With its substantial oil reserves Arco Oil Company should have bought British Petroleum instead of British Petroleum buying out Arco Oil Company during the second Bill Clinton administration. With the right business environment and support from both political parties in the United States, Arco Oil Company might have been more successful and been able to buy out British Petroleum instead of British Petroleum buying out Arco Oil Company. Look at Apple Computer and Microsoft. Their success in the computer world have made them bullet proof to corporate takeovers. Longterm Democratic hostility and opposition to offshore drilling and periodic talk of windfall profits taxes contributed to the takeover of Arco Oil Company.
Bet you have never met a woman like her Fineman. Athena + Aphrodite = Palin. Won't find her on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, Fineman.
I'm for Obama through and through, but I have to say I LOVE the energy Sarah Palin brings to her appearances. And, the Repubs are right, the more Sarah Palin gets bashed, the more it becomes a question of us vs. them and women vs. men and right vs. wrong ... and the issues get left on the sidelines, while we knee-jerk our way into a decision based on pure, raw, I'll-get-back-at-you emotion.
I don't know Sarah Palin. Her appearances suggest dynamism and energy. If she's made decisions stick in Alaska, that ROCKS!
My worry goes in a different direction. The world has changed dramatically. And, no, I'm not talking about the continuing strife and wars. I'm talking about technology, about instant communication, about money moving at internet speeds, about WHO does WHAT, WHERE and WHEN for WHOM. This new way of working and getting paid for it is STILL BEING CREATED as we speak.
The problem is that since this is so new, no-one truly understands it. AND NO ONE PERSON HAS THE ANSWER because the QUESTIONS haven't yet been framed correctly.
That's why I'm worried that McCain is not the answer. I think he relies too much on his own gut. That's why I'm worried about Palin - I don't know enough about her so that's one risk; and what I do hear tends to be about effectiveness around business-as-usual, but not about complex issues.
That's why I AM for Obama. As I've watched over the last year or so, I've seen him inspiring people, raising issues, coming up with ideas, listening and adjusting his positions as he learns more about different sides of complex issues. That's why I was impressed when he chose Biden. He'll need insights into not only the issues, but the existing decision making processes (read how Congress works) to BE effective.
Bill Gates had no experience but look at Microsoft. Look at the guys who are building Google. These are SMART people who recognize the world is changing, and have found ways to be effective.
Today we need a smart person, who can ask the right questions, and inspire people to come up with answers and implement them. He also needs SUPPORT from experience: a person like Biden who knows how things work, and HOW those can be changed to meet our new challenges.
We are in the process of CREATING the next set of deep values for our families, for the families of global citizens, and for the preservation of our planet.

In regards to tonight's speech, Palin must deliver, and deliver huge. I watched last night's coverage with a moderate and open mind. The G.O.P. convention was tepid, boring, uninspiring, ultra-national to a fault and as un-inclusive feeling as it could possibly get to an average American of any non-Anglo descent. It looked and felt like Grandpa's lodge meeting that you were forced to attend as a kid... I did not like it at all, and honestly, Fred Thompson really went the pathos overkill route with some of his war-story shtick. Is this the same war that John Kerry fought in? Does being a POW instantly translate to being an unassailable hero?
Comment: You wrote,"No one in recent memory has been nominated for vice president with such a thin traditional resume." Palin's resume is significantly more substantial than Obama's, and he is nominated for President. She has accomplished much in Alaska. He has accomplished nothing other than voting "present". Based on experience the Dem ticket shoud be Biden/Obama not Obama/Biden.
Im not a big fan of Obama but this man received more than 18 million American votes regardless of what you think of his resume, so did Hillary, plus Biden, McCain, Huckebee and Romney actually ran for president. And now McCain does a hit job on the American public by pulling this person out of space in order to prove a point.
You know what? dont even respond Im logging off this is ridiculous I cant believe we are seeing this.
Since when does the VP get to make any foreign policy? McCain has plenty of foreign policy experience, plenty of domestic experience, and plenty of life experience in general. He doesn't need any help. Who cares if Palin has foreign policy experience? What will her job be? President of the Senate ex officio. Can she rule the Senate on points of order and cast deciding votes in case of a tie? I think being a governor and a former mayor (no matter how many people she governed) gives her that skillset.
Well, engineerGA, I believe that the concern goes to the issue of what happens if the president somehow becomes incapacitated. In the space travel business, this is called redundancy. Backup. No redundancy, might crash to earth. That sort of foreign and other policy. All policies. So far, we know that she can change diapers.
We also know she can govern an entire state with a $10 billion budget and thousands of employees. "So far, we know that she can change diapers." How sexist indeed. Why all the mentions of her motherhood? I'm a father of a 6-month-old baby girl, and I change diapers more than my wife, as my IT engineering job allows me to work from home most days. What does changing diapers have to do with anything, if you weren't making reference to her gender there?
If you listen to the Obama camp, simply making good decisions is all it takes - no experience necessary - to be President of these United States. So far, no one has pointed out any huge mistakes she has made (and she's certainly not responsible for her daughter's premarital escapades). Seems okay to lead to me.
Okay, then. You go ahead and follow her.
Thanks for a concise and well written article on the challenges Gov. Palin faces tonight and beyond... she is a brave woman to take all of this on. Certainly adds some excitement to what has otherwise been a rather uninspiring convention. And keeps the campaign drama rolling.
Palin's speech is being written for her. We will be seeing how well that she can read words that have been prepared for her on the issues that the campaign wishes to cover. That's about it. How well she can read and repeat what she reads. The press has not had the opportunity to ask her questions about the issues of the day. She has not been through all of the primary debates where we all could have a feel for what she thinks about the issues of the day. So far, all we know is what little can be gained from friends and family in Alaska who have been interviewed, and whatever has been printed about her there where she lives. She has tutors who are feverishly trying to tell her what is going on in the world and what should be said and not said from the bovine pulpit. May God protect us all.
Lest I be criticized for the term, "bovine pulpit", it needs to be said that "bully pulpit" is a sexist term. We have highly qualified people in government of both genders who are listened to for their vast experience and knowledge. To refer to a feminine speaker as using the bully pulpit is wrong. it is the bovine pulpit, encompassing both genders of the "bull" that we endure.
Independents must unite against this. This is a big joke. How can McCain put this individual on the ticket? Though not a big fan of Obama, at least he was vetted by the American public for the past year and so was Hillary. My fear is that if something happens to McCain Joe Israel first Lieberman will be running the country. Have to really give Obama credit he picked some who he truly believes will cover the presidency should something happen to him even though he knew he would receive flack for Biden???s time in Washington. Obama had to, obviously if something happens to the president the country would be in a state of panic. In a way, Obama can spread his message and Idealism while at the same time protecting the country against a national emergency. I truly understand that McCain wanted a woman on the ticket but there are many more qualified republican women he could have chosen. They (the republicans) are willing to turn this country up side down in order to get under Obama's skin, I was almost buying that "Obama will do anything stuff" but know I see its the republicans. GOD HELP US. sd
"No one in recent memory has been nominated for vice president with such a thin traditional resume." Likewise, Mr. Fineman, no one in memory (recent or the distant past) has been nomiated for President with such a thin traditional resume as Obama. This article is just another liberal attempt to discredit Mrs. Palin because she makes the top person on the Democratic ticket look like the unaccomlished, empty-suit that he is.
this article is meant as a slap against sarah palin...typical when they know they are outgunned.
Expected when the media is forced to do the job McCain was too reckless or impatient to do: vet this woman's background. An honest assessment of her skills and experience (or lack thereof) is only a slap to those who would wilfully be blind to them. God forbid it should spoil the illusion of the VP the GOP desperately wished it had.
